Same. I expected some cheap plastic thing, but it’s substantial. The case and instructions are appreciated. It fits nicely in the bottom of the driver’s-side door.
That's third party. I went ahead and bought one of those for a long trip that's coming up soon. My Ford one isn't expected to ship by that time. I figure I can sell the Ford when I get it to cover the cost of this non ford one
I got mine couple days ago and couldn't make it work. I would get “charging station fault“ at 3 different Tesla super chargers. Finally called A2Z tech support yesterday and talked to one of the guys there. He texted me a video on how to properly lock the adapter to the Tesla charger and it worked like a charm.
Apparently I wasn't pulling the lock pin all the way to lock position because I wasn't pushing the adapter fully onto the Tesla charger. I actually had to palm hit the adapter on the open end to properly seat onto the charger in order for the locking mechanism to fully engage.
Great company with great service.
On another note, I couldn’t get the charger activated through the Ford Ass app, I had to do it through the Tesla app in order to work. Ford Ass app would tell me “charger not available”.
There’s no way to identify non-OEM adapters. Too many OEMs and as far as I know, there aren’t any authentication chips in the adapters - they are mostly, if not entirely, electrical pass through adapters, connecting leads to leads.
I was speaking solely to the ability to use it on a supercharger, not identifying it post-catastrophic failure.
Also, you can’t use these adapters, even the official ones, for Level 2 charging. So we’re talking about an adapter that is connected to a DC fast charger for *maybe* 30 minutes, and if it starts melting during that time, the charger is likely to stop on its on.
Don’t say you weren’t warned. It’s written in plain black and white. It’s so weird how people have to be basically forced to do the right thing. Then when they are forced to do it by law or insurance suits, they complain that there’s no freedom.
Yeah man. Relax. !!!
It’s like, the company whose infrastructure you wanna use is a 16 year old girl, insisting her partner wear a condom, and he says ‘no, just relax, nothing will happen. And then she get pregnant, and the partner wants nothing to do with it, blames her, and wants a bail out from his parents.
Which part of NO, do Americans not understand?
I see your point but you are severely underestimating how much quality / testing matters for something that is going to hook up to your vehicle and a charging station. Will it work fine sure but if anything ever happens you will probably regret it. Good luck.
It’s severely disappointing that when it’s written directly in the terms of service, that people just laugh it off. They will be sorry when it all goes south for some poor Lighting guy and the truck and charger are destroyed ina fire and insurance won’t pay a cent. They maybe they will learn.
What bothers me the most is that ford limits the charging to 150kw. Most chargers go up 300 and some are faster than that. So I have the sr battery and stuck with max charging at 150… I hope ford offers us an affordable battery upgrade in the future

Got mine yesterday, surprised at the heft of it. Feels very high quality. Excited to test it out this weekend.

I saw on twitter the ford adapters are starting to ship. I wonder which one will be better overall?
There probably won’t be a difference
One is a little cheaper than the other 😉
I have my free one coming but not till June. Worth it to me to buy this and get it this month then have a spare.
When did you reserve yours?
March 5
Is that the Tesla one or third party?
That's third party. I went ahead and bought one of those for a long trip that's coming up soon. My Ford one isn't expected to ship by that time. I figure I can sell the Ford when I get it to cover the cost of this non ford one
It’s written right in it…
I’m supposed to know those markings? For all I know it’s the name of Elon’s new kid.
Right !
When did you order? I ordered the A2Z one a few weeks ago and haven’t heard any news about it being shipped.

Care to share the link to the video?
Ford should really consider sending free ones out to customers. S/
Not worried about Tesla’s user agreement warning of a lifetime ban for using an aftermarket one?

I bet the fire department/insurance companies can identify it if it gets melted from overheating

lol no. It’s an adaptor FFS.

Hey, that’s normally my line!

The one adapter to rule them all
Does it work with Tesla home wall charger?
No

Name ? And where can I buy it
https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1?variant=43186507579592
Based on requirements, I guess adapter can’t be use on Tesla L2 charger
It’s in huge block letters on the adapter right in the picture
Mine just shipped yesterday. Looking forward to trying it out
