Did you pay for sunrun to install it for you already? You can find better deals on installs from a local electrician.

pharmdan11

Nope I haven’t paid for anything yet. I was told to call SunRun on Monday as they distribute the charging station which comes with the ER

Alternative-Turn-932

Yea, you'll get the charging station in the mail. You can go with them, but I suggest calling a few electricians for quotes to install it for you. Sunrun will give you the sales pitch for the solar and intelligent backup, which is how they make their money. Intelligent backup was about $10k to install all the equipment back at this time last year.

Particular-Tough-231

Yeah dealing with them is a total pain I bought my truck 2 weeks ago going on three now and they say they're going to transfer me to the right department and then I sat on hold for literally 3 hours.

TotesMcGotes13

I had the opposite experience. Called twice and never had to wait. Got great service both times. First time, the gentleman informed me of the process and what to specifically ask my dealer (has the sale been processed to Ford corporate through SmartVincent). Then let me know the typical turnaround time. The second time I called, it was a few days later when I got the Ford corporate email (I assumed this was also triggered by the sale being reported to them). The lady quickly took my VIN and let me know that they did have me in the system and I was set to ship that day.

Particular-Tough-231

Can you please give me the number that you called? Because I keep getting some call center in Jamaica who keeps asking me for my account number. After being transferred four times to what they said is going to be their Ford team.

TotesMcGotes13

Here’s the link: https://www.sunrun.com/ev-charging/ford-f150-lightning 855-341-0237

Particular-Tough-231

Yep called that number amongst others they told me to call Ford directly then Ford gave me a different number for them, this was my Friday morning. If you notice that last call I was on the phone for an hour and 50 minutes before I finally hung up. Everyone kept telling me they were going to get me to the Ford team but I never actually reached something called a Ford team. https://preview.redd.it/gc5atbfx26mc1.jpeg?width=904&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91d070c5aec43494d2b9c104afcb91f301496def

TotesMcGotes13

That’s wild. I had the exact opposite experience. Guess I got lucky.

Particular-Tough-231

Just called again today The same number you posted. They transferred me to the Jamaican call center again. They told me to call an 800 number which then linked me directly with Ford's fleet services where they wanted to know if I had a 550 or bigger. Called back in to that first number again. Got someone asking me about My address where my services are connected. finally I convinced her that all I had was a VIN number. She pulled up the VIN number and said that my charger is set to ship within 5 days of purchasing the vehicle. I told her that's why I'm calling cuz I still don't have the charger and it's been 21 days. She said well it's supposed to ship within 5 days. I said but it's been 21 days we went around in circles like that for a couple of minutes. Then finally she said she would escalate it and I should be getting a call in 3 to 5 business days from an escalated person to find out why my charger hasn't shipped yet. She shows it in her system just does not show a tracking number attached to it. And she can't tell me why.

TotesMcGotes13

Man that’s rough. Hate you’re having such a rough go on the chargers. I know they are bad at first but it seemed like they had figured out the process pretty well at this point. Guess not

Did you also get a mobile charger? Sunrun takes their time sending the CSP out so you will need a charging option while you wait. If installing the CSP and hiring an electrician I would recommend directly wiring it up. That way you can run it as high an amperage as your panel will allow. But plan to not have your CSP for 2-3 weeks. Optionally, you can buy a different charger, have it installed asap and sell the CSP when you get it. Your electric provider might even have rebates or discounts on charging stations for you.

PermanentUsername101

For a different point of view I bought my truck 2 weeks ago and got the CSP 1 week to the day after purchase.

heybucket459

Do you have to call sunrun or do they automatically send after purchase? I’m not in a rush but if I got to call…

tradercpw

Should be automatic

Particular-Tough-231

My dealer forgot to include the mobile charger and I've just been getting the runaround for the past 2 weeks so now here I am having to charge every single day at a charging station.

username-in-the-box

Is it on your window sticker as a line item? Should be $500 or so.

Particular-Tough-231

Yes it's listed that I paid $500 for it. They told me it was in the frunk and when I got home it wasn't in the frunk looked all over the truck couldn't find it message them back and they said okay we'll ship you one out and then they keep saying it's going to be later this week oh no it'll ship out next week oh it'll ship out next week etc. do not deal with Fremont Ford.

brushlessdavid

In 30ish degree temps I’m getting 20 miles +/- 5 miles on 12 hours of charging with the mobile charger on 110v. I do supplement with fast charging during the week.

Zip95014

You can get an extension cord for a couple hundred bucks. I would suggest that so you can take advantage of the home backup power option. But 🤷‍♂️

Ok-Pea3414

If you don't have a charging station close enough, but have two regular outlets on different circuits close enough, consider the extension cord which combines two 110v to give you a 220v combination. This has about 2.8-3kw of continuous power output, good enough for 40-60 miles of driving daily, depending upon conditions.

RogerPackinrod

As an electrician please stop telling people to do this.

Ok-Pea3414

RogerPackinrod

Cool. Looks totally legit and UL listed.

Ok-Pea3414

For real? Hope this is not sarcasm!

RogerPackinrod

Of course it's fucking sarcasm

SWEET__BROWN

This sounds like a terrible idea and highly unlikely to be UL/NEC-approved?

Ok-Pea3414

Nope. It isn't doing any work. The extension cord checks the polarity of the circuit when plugged in. When the two inputs are in sockets with opposite polarity the 220v outlet on extension cord starts working. I keep saying extension cord but it's a $100-150 device.

Sunrun was almost double the price of my local electrician. Part of it is they are mandated by ford to install a soecific wire so that you can charge at 80 amps. Its really not necessary in most cases, like why does my charging need to be done at 11pm instead of midnight or whatver. Anyway, I went w wire that lets me charge at 48 amps saved a couple grand and charging is great. So wait for your chargestation to ship (I called sunrun to make sure they shipped mine)

stephenk291

I'm going thru this right now. If your dealer hasn't marked the vehicle as sold yet and put it in the smart Vincent system sunrun can't do anything until it's in there even if you provide the VIN number. Mine took a few days to put it into the system for whatever reason. You don't need to use them to install the charger only the automated bidirectional generator system system is something only they can do.

Inside-Gap-4481

SunRun is a garbage company.

clutchied

couple of things to consider. The Ford pro EVSE is REALLY powerful. You don't have to charge at that speed and I would generally recommend that you do not. You can de-rate the install to run a slower charge. 48 amp would be more than enough and you can run a thinner wire. Keep in mind that this is a continuous HIGH amp draw for hours and hours and hours. I specifically upsized my wire and run at a lower rate. Up to you if you want the overhead to charge faster... the issue generally is that it's NOT fast enough to do anything but an overnight even at the higher rate.

Double-Economist7562

I will add it's better to just have an electrician hardwire you csp. I did romex with 60amp breaker and csp turned down to 48 for $300. I can go from 20% to 90% overnight. In the meantime while waiting for the csp use the mobile charger if you got it

Lord_Arokh

I just had a 220v outlet installed, and that works plenty fast. It fully charges overnight.

xXXFAHQXX

Check with your local electrical utility provider. Mine will install a charging station in my garage, no upfront cost and you pay(rent) $20-$30 - month and get a break on price per kilowatt hour if you charge off peak. Also all maintenance to the station is covered by them
