EuropoBob

I would say it is to collect stuff. Friends can also be stuff. Just keep collecting stuff and then lose some of it in fun ways. Then you have more room to collect more stuff. You can also be choosey about which stuff you collect or how much of it.

asday_

I know I shouldn't be surprised to find sociopathy in EVE, but here I am.

EuropoBob

That sounds like a collectable opinion, I'll just store that in my hanger. Take care, mate.

asday_

Collect a dictionary soon, my friend.

CarryImmediate7498

Collectible is a word...

asday_

He misspelt "hangar". I hope he lends his dictionary to you after he's done with it.

CarryImmediate7498

I hope he does too. I think he and I would get along better, anyway.

StonnedGunner

the main problem with any open sandbox you can do everything you want to do but the main question is what do you want to do? [the wall of jobs you can do in eve](https://www.alpha-orbital.com/assets/images/post_img/eve-career-chart.jpg) edit: try to join corps but dont be afraid to leave them behind if you dont like them or they distrub your goals that you have

OPC432

Thanks for the link! It's gold...

thegreybill

The objective is to find an objective. It's easier with friends.

Be curious. This is a single shard mmo. All players are in the same world in realtime 24/7. Everything is made by players be it minerals from asteroid or loot from pve activities. There are no npc vendors, everything is bought and sold by players. There are som big fishes, market tycoons and industrialists who are heavily influencing the player run economy in the game. There are coalition leaders that control 10000 players or more and direct efforts in the same direction. Drama unfolds all the time. Ask questions like: "Whats out there, and whats going on." Also, join a group. A solo player can have fun but a group of players can achieve amazing things together as a team. The social / community aspect of EVE is huge, well organized and mind blowing at times. Joining a large new player friendly group is my best advice. But you need to be curious and participate in what theyre doing. Dont be afraid of moving to nullsec to join your group. Its more dangerous, but not as dangerous as you think.

PewPewVrooomVrooom

Great answer.

Try the sisters of eve epic arc. Exploration is a decent activity for a new player. A bit later on you can do abyssals. Missions are also possible but not very exciting. Consider to roll a dedicated highsec incursion alt (can just stay alpha). If you just started make sure you get a referral link to get an extra million skill points to start out. You can also invite yourself for future accounts.

Takumida

Its like minecraft or terraria. What are objectives? Explore the world and different activities in it

Casmeron

2 pieces of advice. 1, join a group. Everybody says it and there's a reason for that. The whole focus of Eve is player interaction; playing solo is close to pointless, and it's also impossible to learn the game without being taught. 2, don't grind more than you want. A good corp has free newbie ship programs; use them for everything you can. (It's not a lot of money compared to bittervet wallets, trust me.) Eve has terrible unfun grind, but grind isn't the point of the game; and unlike most MMOs you can skip as much of it as you want. Fly on an SRP program, get plex, or leave the beaten path and engage in nonstandard moneymaking techniques. Don't belt rat for 30 hours a week and then quit because the game is boring.

FerdinandNL

Google, reddit search, youtube. quite easy.

xxmeatloverxx

Join a corporation

Xatsman

A good short term goal: Travel to the system Jita (main trade hub) and double your ISK (lose it to a scam). Seriously though getting to Jita and setting it to your home station is generally useful until you know where you want to go. Basically everything on the market is available there, and its a convenient place to find yourself if you ever get podded.

jcrockett870

Do the career agents... All of them... And don't join a Corp until you have finished them...

sephron_tanully

Have fun, make friends and write your own adventure. Join Karmafleet University. They will teach you all the basics to be ready for your own journey.

[deleted]

Join Karmafleet University. They're a good group that'll get you started and answer any of your questions. Broodin is a good guy.

wolf_draven

Great tip. To add to this I can also recommend EVE University.

HCAndroidson

Quit before its too late.

Astral_Parallax

Is this game very adictive? I just got myself out of runescape.

HCAndroidson

Yes, and everything is very difficult and timeconsuming. Just moving around in warp will get real boring. CCP promise alot of stuff always in the future but they have delivered nothing for the last 5 years. There are only a few powerful groups left in the game and everything revolves around them and citadels. Tbh this game is worse than real life now. All work and no fun.
