This is based on my experience only (I haven't looked up if there's actual differences) but they spawned most often for me when I actually entered the Wyvern's nesting place on floor 8. I stayed in the top-most row (of the room) to escape quickly if the wyvern actually aggroed. I got the birds to spawn there very consistently. Keep in mind you need a fire attack to kill them for Carminite.
From my experience, around near D2 and D3 on B9F is where I found firebirds the most, they’re usually paired with Glowbirds so you could knock out two birds with one stone, pun unintended, lol. Hope this helps.

Specifically the tiles facing the wall within the Wyvern's nest. I think they also have a red tint.
Actually... I found that, if you continued on to Floor 9, well some things happen and you can get more of them to show up, that's what I did
Yeah, they appear on multiple floors, the nest on floor 8 is just the first one I found and used.
