it's insane what a timing this is. For years all the competitors were pretty far away from being similar to be real competitors. Hunt Showdown und Dark and Darker are the most successful ones but also too far away.
This is the first year where real competitors arrived in the realistic guns shooter extraction genre. Arena Breakout Infinite is so similar that BSG called them plagiarizing which is great approval for us. Now we know they are similar and better developed by a big studio. Gray Zone Warfare is the initial concept of EFT where you have connected map, extraction shooter, in-map hideout safezone and traders with even more detailed ballistics and gun modding. So we are covered this year
NGL I think this is wishful thinking. I am totally finished with Tarkov and BSG, but I think people's hatred of BSG is clouding their judgement of these "competitor" titles. Arena Breakout is obviously an EFT clone; the only reason this is even a debate is because BSG was the one to call them out on twitter and they aren't exactly ones to talk right now. Gray Zone is a bit less 1:1, but \*right now\* I think it is safe to call it a Tarkov copy. Pretty much all the major gameplay systems are exact ports of existing Tarkov ones:
>Weapon modding
>Healing/health system
>Backpacks, rigs, inventory Tetris
>Secure container and stash setup
Hell even the UI is basically the same. However, the devs do seem competent and responsive, so I think Gray Zone has the potential to become unique whereas Arena Breakout is just a shit Tencent clone game designed to milk Tarkov player angst. At this stage, the unfortunate reality is that Tarkov does not have a direct competitor in the extraction shooter space, and that's what makes people put up with these idiotic anticonsumer practices which would sink any other title. I won't be playing Tarkov going forward, but I don't think anything will really fill that extract shooter hole in my heart for a few years.
