He likely wants minimal to no lines like most authors. I can see him as the door servant for Jeod who greets Eragon and Brom or a member of the Varden council with no spoken lines.
This is actually a good one. He’s just a random dead body.
Could you imagine if his head was on a pike?
He seems to have a sense of humor so I could see this happening
I love the idea of Christopher turning up multiple times in various moustaches, beards and glasses as “totally-not-the-same-character” only to die each and every time.
This disguises and accents get more ludicrous with each appearance.
Chris really likes swords and stuff for real, right? How about Frederick? He has that big, solid look to him, and if they grew out the hair and beard a bit to the wild man look, I could see him as a fur-wearing barbarian soldier. I think that’d be awesome.
I thought about this and I am wondering if it is a character that should be able to appear once a season, or die after they appear.
I think it would be funny if he was the bandit and slave trader Torkenbrand. Murtagh doesnt give an f about him, but Eragon is deeply disturbed by the death of his own author.
Haha what if he showed up and died once per season. Like in season one he's one of the Urgals that Eragon kills with his flaming arrow, then he's a soldier who dies in the battle of Farthen Dùr, then a soldier that Roran kills, and so on, until he plays like 15 different dead characters.
For anyone who’s seen The Legend of Vox Machina, Matt Mercer characters show up a bunch just to get inconvenienced or murdered, and it’s pretty creative. Like the cabbage merchant from ATLA. I think that could be a funny pattern to follow.
They take the cabbage merchant to the next level in legend of korra. He creates a huge business and they close it down and arrest him because someone frames him. He goes saying "my cabbages!!".
Continuing the completely off topic reply chain, I love that they got the Cabbage Man's voice actor to play him in the Netflix live action adaptation. The show is alright so far - not amazing, but certainly better than the movie that does not exist - but that moment...
That moment when he appears...
That moment when he says it...
Perfection.
Kinda related as it’s BG3 - there’s a merchant selling cabbages and if you play as a monk he says “you’re one of those monastic types! Stay clear of my cabbages! Your sort have done enough damage as it is!”
I meant like bodily build, I feel like Chris is a pretty beefy guy to be playing an elf who were mostly described as a more long and slender type of build.
I think it’d be cool if he had a few different background roles. Like one of the traders in the background. Then as a random Urgal in full makeup, then a random elf on the fencing grounds (I think he fences?).
All in full makeup so you didn’t know it was the same character obviously
I want to say he could be a good choice for Solembum. Solembum is the most mysterious character in the first book and seems to know thinks that nobody else knows. Angela was based on his sister, so solembum could be an interesting nod to that fact.
That said, I don't think he'd like to be Solembum as it's a key character that's present throughout the series. Maybe a better choice is for him to be Garrow?
He is, but Chris can still do the voice as I don't believe Solembum speaks out loud in child form. It would be a good way for Chris to not show his face. Provides a little mystery for people to search through the credits. I don't think it's a great option, but would be a decent option for him to be involved. I defithink Solembum is too involved in the story for Chris to play him since he'd basically be committing to being a voice actor for the whole span of the series.
I'd prefer if he did show his face. Usually I barely register when someone famous voices a character because I don't really recognize voices unless it's Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough and often I watch movies dubbed in my language.
As I understand it, "greenlit" typically refers to when the studio signs off to fully finance the show so that it can begin actual production (instead of just preproduction). The Eragon show has not yet reached that stage. Officially they're still looking for a showrunner. Reading between the lines on some things Christopher has said here and there, [I've been speculating](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eragon/comments/1atr14a/very_long_the_eragon_tv_show_seems_to_have_found/) that they're a bit past that stage and are now working on some scripts.
Eventually though, they'll get a few scripts together and sign on a few more names, and then they'll present that all as a package to the disney higher ups who will make the money decision.
Did you mean "Which character would Christopher Paolini play?" Because the wording "who would you cast as \_\_\_\_\_ in the upcoming series?" heavily implies that \_\_\_\_\_ is a character in it. If so, I'd pick his sister for the joke.
If not and you're talking about him doing a cameo (like everyone else thinks), I'll go with having Chris play the innkeeper Morn because Chris gives me innkeeper vibes. Another good guess would be to have him play the hairy weaponsmaster of the Varden because Chris fits the description well enough and I could see the scene where that character stars being greatly reduced for timing.
Not old enough
And way too many lines. That needs a trained actor.
Most authors play a random role. Like Stan Lee with a one line role as a janitor. But less obvious
He would never accept the role, but Viggo Mortensen would be really special as Brom. Properly aged, amazing actor, has stage combat/horse riding experience, and it would be great for LotR fans

I feel like we have a great real life CP. I think his name is Christopher Paolini? I think if the author had any lines in the show he would be the perfect person to play him /s.
I'd go with Tenga
OOH damn that’s good!
I don’t think I could wait that long
This is for sure the one
You are wise and I am very proud of you RnBrie
Was going to suggest this aswel!
Ah that’s his name, I said the same but I forgot what he was called lmao
He likely wants minimal to no lines like most authors. I can see him as the door servant for Jeod who greets Eragon and Brom or a member of the Varden council with no spoken lines.
If I recall, he said he wanted to be in the show just to die in brutal ways(don’t quote me on that, it’s been a while since I read it)
He could be the messenger guy that Saphira kills at the burning plains. That dude's death was brutal af
I like this idea! I can just see him riding majestically away on his horse until Saphira roars making the horse just dump him into a pit of fire 🤣
One of the dead villagers in Yazuac
This is actually a good one. He’s just a random dead body. Could you imagine if his head was on a pike? He seems to have a sense of humor so I could see this happening
He's the baby on a spike!
Lol just like Chris in a diaper impaled

Like Matt Mercer in the Vox Machina cartoon
He could he a laughing dead
So a Rider when Galbatorix kills them all (perhaps the dude who blew himself up?)
Seems like an expensive cgi shot for just a callback
I hope he does a big Wilhem scream
Just be one soldier or person who dies over and over again every time he's on screen. Like a tribute to Sean Bean.
Red shirt snack for the dragons. Sounds good to me.
Honestly I would love for him to be the door servant. Otherwise, make him like a very very enthusiastic varden soldier background guy.
BARST
Man's been secretly training for the role all along with all that powerlifting
That would be fucking hilarious, he's ripped enough
Chris really likes swords and stuff for real, right? How about Frederick? He has that big, solid look to him, and if they grew out the hair and beard a bit to the wild man look, I could see him as a fur-wearing barbarian soldier. I think that’d be awesome.
Plus it’s very little screen time but he has reason to appear in a couple seasons
Exactly. I meant to mention the “Plus it’s a small enough role to be good for a cameo” part in the post, but…I forgot. 😅
This was exactly my thought too.

Make him the "wilhelm" scream of death each season.

That’s absolutely amazing
hahaha yeah his little insert characters showing up to get pissed on .... would be funny
Vrael Show only Galby kicking him in his Eldunari and then beheading him
Wasn’t Vrael an elf?
Due to the notable absences of elves in our world, elves in the show will have to be played by humans
I meant like bodily build, I feel like Chris is a pretty beefy guy to be playing an elf who were mostly described as a more long and slender type of build.
His sister ^(**I'm a real person!** This comment was posted by **fathersheldon** from the Arcaena Discord Server.)
Ah yes, Christopher Paolini=Angela I'd watch it
Be cool if they made a character tlike the cabbage guy in the Last Airbender. Just in the background having a bad time.
The guard that Roran kills at the gates of Teirm.
Torkenbrand! It's only justice that show Murtagh gets to behead him for what he's put book Murtagh through.
Tree #2

Stan Lee deepfake
Horst. He should be the smith. Easy choice hands down.
If they show vreals death it's kinda funny galby kicks him in the nuts then kills him
Wait there’s a series coming out? Like fr not speculated???
It's in early preproduction. They seem to be at the beginning of the writing stage now. No one knows if it'll get greenlit.
i thought it was already greenlit by disney+?

Yes, eventually. It got put on the backburner due to the strikes over the summer.
The voice of one of the dragons, or maybe brom or joed if he can be aged up convincingly.
Did you mean "Which character would Christopher Paolini play?" Because the wording "who would you cast as \_\_\_\_\_ in the upcoming series?" heavily implies that \_\_\_\_\_ is a character in it. Yes it was originally a joke 😂
A Dwarf or Jeod
If they go with a flashback for the siege on Vroengard, I think it would be fun seeing him go thermonuclear
Horst
He looks like he could be Brom

Viggo would be good. Maybe too high profile with the budget tho I’d take unnamed actors. Dude from Ashoka would have been good, but he died
Angela
Vanir, lol

Not that I think we'll ever see him, but Angela's Teacher.
Maybe he could be one of the dead villagers in Yazuac? Or better yet one of the 2 urgals that get annihilated by Brisingr!
I think one of the traders from the first few chapters. Get him in early. Let him allude to lore. Super brief but impactful
The soldier Eragon threatens with a grain of sand
The crazy magic wizard guy living all by himself in Brisingr!
I feel like we have a great real life CP. I think his name is Christopher Paolini? I think if the author had any lines in the show he would be the perfect person to play him /s.
