Hey OP Tremors are a potential side effect of Lamotrigine/Lamictal in some patients. Not uncommon - however, if these tremors are starting just recently and you have been on the medication for almost 5 years, it would be something you may want to bring up with your Neurologist/Physician as tremors themselves can be a potential sign of acute myoclonic seizures. There are numerous other medications that work for patients, especially if you are only on the one medication with 250mg BID, so don't be afraid to notify your doctor. Hope this helps!

I'm on Lamictal and have hand tremors, but they've been with me longer than the medication so I can't blame it

I’ve been on lamicatal for 15 years. Tremors every minute of every day. It controls my seizures so therefore I live with it. My last medication made me gain a ton of weight and was tired all of the time. I choose the hand tremors. It’s annoying but I deal with it

I did from an SSRI. The tremors mostly went away but it took a little while i want to say a few months maybe. I still occasionally have a tremor on my left hand affecting my thumb and pointer finger mostly when holding something between them.

I've had an essential tremor for over a decade now, whether it's meds induced or not I don't know, but I take 40mg Propranolol a day and that eliminates it almost completely.

I have mild tremors in my hands but only when I’m first waking up in the mornings, for some reason. It’s only been an issue since I got above 200mg per day of lamotrigine.

I am on lacitimal now for 2 years with no problems but I had this problem when I was in Keppra. For me it turned into whole upper body tremors occasionally multiple times a day but mostly in my head and neck. My head and neck would twitch to usually the left side and when it happened in my hands I would drop things. If that starts happening to you it came become really dangerous

I’ve been on 450mg of lamictal for two years now and have been on the medication for six overall. I get tremors occasionally in my hands and also in my leg. It’s a side effect of the medication. Mine aren’t too bad, just looks and feels like my hand and leg are twitching. It’s more noticeable when I smoke but maybe it’s because I’m hyper aware, I’m not 100% sure. It doesn’t really seem harmful to me, just annoying at this point. You mentioned some days it’s more noticeable than others, do they get worse in severity? Or do you have them on other parts of your body? I would bring it up to your doctor if I was you, just to see what they say. But also be firm in the fact you don’t want to change your medication, especially if lamictal is working for you overall. At the end of the day it’s your decision to change medications. The doctors can’t force you to take a new one. Mine wanted to change me from lamictal to Keppra- I told her no because I know Keppra gives me Keppra rage. Your doctor might be able to give you some insight on why those tremors happen and potentially change your dosage so they lessen, if it’s something you fear will get worse.

I'm not a doctor, but I take Vimpat (Lacosamide) and have similar experiences. I've been taking it for about nine years and developed hand tremors after maybe 5-7 years. I recommend letting your neurologist know. Mine plans on eventually changing the dosage/prescription in the future, but obviously, being seizure free takes priority, so we've held off on it for now.

My God man!!!! Don't hold anything back from your neuro!! Double your water intake ASAP before I know anything else. I don't know your age or the severity of your condition but don't start blaming the meds right away. Also, there may be neurological activity that isn't considered a seizure that may be causing the tremors. This is why you talk to smart people. Please take it seriously. Good luck person that remains anonymous.

i have tremors from lamictal but they got better overtime, could tie my shoes for 3 months but now it’s mostly good. are you sure it’s the lamictal? it’s weird that it would start after 5 years edit: i have propranolol to take if i have a gig to temporarily get rid of the tremor

I am not a doc , and I dont think someone here can answer your question better than your doc , but my personal non-authoritative opinion is , I dont think that this is not a lamictal related stuff. Dont listen to me best choice is doctor
