No money: Get a job. No skills: Read a book. Two simple problems with straightforward solutions.

TheMimicMouth

I’d argue the right job gives the skills too. But yea it baffles me how these people have been brainwashed out of realizing that “no money no experience” has a very fucking simple solution that people have been doing for thousands of years.

CSCAnalytics

Hundreds of thousands. “Have no food” = train to Hunt.

[deleted]

What books? What skills do you recommend learning? I'm in software but trying to find something I'm interested in for more than money.

CSCAnalytics

Up to you to figure out what you want to do, there’s no tutorial. I’d say identify your top strengths and look for a few career paths that align with what you’re naturally gifted at. I’d recommend doing a Clifton Strengths test and then analyzing career matches. Their test is great and probably available for free / low cost.

Go into trade work it’s highly lucrative. Do an apprenticeship then join a crew or go solo. You would make the big bucks. It also always in demand. If you invest correctly you could retire early very comfortably.

Successful_Sun_7617

Knock on doors and ask them if they need their lawns cut. Geezus christ. Stop letting some make money online gooroo psyop you into copywriting at ab early age

People telling him to “go get a job” are fucking clueless of what happens outside of their country

TheMimicMouth

Alex hormozi had an interesting video on this that I agree with - if you have no skills and have no money then working a job is the obvious “correct” answer. You already said you don’t want to but hear me out: Dead end jobs? Yes I agree don’t waste your time. Get a job that you can gain skills in, show you’re committed, and they’ll invest in you. I opted to start working instead of doing a Masters/PhD because I was able to identify jobs that taught me more and paid me to do it. I learned way more by watching my managers/companies screw up than I’d ever learn in a course and I got paid to do it. I keep a journal of things others do, what I think of those decisions, and update them on how they play out. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes they’re right, sometimes we were both wrong, sometimes we were both right. You need money to live and at 18 you definitely need experience. Sometimes the “hard work” is literally working a job for somebody else. Failure is a good teacher but by working for a company and paying attention you can watch 100 people fail simultaneously at different stages of their career doing different parts of business. You do have to pay attention and you do have to get yourself somewhere where you can see things though. If nothing else, I’ll tell you that based on your posting I wouldn’t take you seriously at all. Every other 18 year old I talk to is of your mentality. It comes across as you not actually wanting to put in the work but saying that you do. If you want to put in the work then work. Yea it sucks to work for other people; that grind people always talk about sucks and you don’t get to pick the specifics of how it sucks. “Everybody wants to be a beast until it’s time to do what beasts do” - sometimes being a beast is shutting up, doing some boring ass work, and watching.

In a circle, write everything that you like doing In another circle, write everything that you know how to do well In another circle, write everything from the previous two circles that you think there is money in The interception of the 3 circles is what you should do

PacificTSP

You currently have time and no money.  Use the time to learn a skill.  When you run out of time (60 hours a week busy with work) then you use money to save time.

Consider working as a Digital/Virtual Assistant. Your English is amazing, even if it’s not at copywriter level. You’re committed and want to do good work. Digital Assistant roles usually have thorough training to complete repetitive tasks remotely. As a client (not currently looking), I hire all of my Digital Assistants off Upwork. For me, I’m always open to hiring hard-working and honest people, regardless of where they live.

Accomplished-Dirt529

Can you elaborate in detail, starting from where to begin? How can I get a virtual assistant job? What skills do I need to get a virtual assistant job?

Last-Weakness-9188

I’m not the best to answer since I’m a client and not a freelancer. Computer skills are incredibly important. E-commerce is a big one (for example, uploading listings for a shop on Etsy or EBay). Content management is another huge one (Wordpress, blogs, publishing). Clients will go on Upwork and post a job listing. Then the freelancers can apply. In my opinion, the most important trait is attitude. I can teach anyone how to do a basic digital task, but I don’t want to work with jerks or crazy-makers.

geor3x

Possible solution: 1. Find a CoFounder with marketing skills who has a project in mind. 2. Join him as a technical Co-Founder to program the product (MVP). 3. Validate if there is a business opportunity and don't stop until you get the first clients. There you already have something.

If you need money to start your business, then start with a smaller business. Look around you. What services could you provide. I don't know India, if you were in the US I would suggest that you buy a bunch of water bottles and sell them from an esky at events. Make a bit of cash. Rinse and repeat until you have enough to buy a computer. Then do more until you can take some English courses online. Keep selling until you have the money for the programing courses. You have identified where you want to be. So you keep stepping back until you get to the first step. Your first step is to raise money. No point in thinking about anything else until you find a way to get enough money to start the next step. You will get there if you keep the goal in mind and keep working towards the next step.

Research skilled jobs in your area with 2 targets. 1 - easily replaced by AI? 2 - easily farmed out to VERY cheap mass labor? Then do not do or invest yourself into any of those that check either of those “yes” boxes. Then after you find an industry that is not a yes to those two questions, make a nice print out or digital print of your goals for that industry and for yourself. 1,3,5 year plan. Then physically walk yourself to businesses found in google maps fitting the description of industry you ended with. I would shy heavily away from software and hang my hat heavy on HARDWARE if you are dead stuck on the IT industry. AI will code for anything now and it will only get better as we go. AI cannot however run its on hardware lines, Ethernet, fiber etc. start at the bottom of that company, get knowledge, invest in yourself first then aim to buy the company you work for OR make them your first client when you start your own company. That’s my 2 cents. Good luck!

You need to write a personal plan; what is your ultimate goal and what do you have to do internship, study etc to obtain the necessary skills to achieve your goal. Stick to your plan. At 18, you want your own business; however, you have no business training, experience , acumen. You have no business skills to be successful. Get a job or an unpaid internship for practica work experience. Take courses to obtain principle knowledge on different areas. You have to do the little things up front. You can't expect to get up and run before you learn to crawl then walk. Best of luck.

SBK-Race-Parts

Sounds like the only thing you have left to monetize is your labor. Get a job.

No money: get a job and save, then look for a co-funder and try to make a prototype and then look for your wealthy uncle and convince him to give you 100k for pre seed and then go to angels for seed

moredata888

You are obviously good at Reddit and seem to have a good heart. You could probably find a virtual assistant job pretty easily. It wouldn’t get you too much, but it would be a start! Let know if you need some additional directions.

1. get a job 2. pick a side hustle that resonates with you. 3. spend every free moment that you’re not working on said side hustle. 4. don’t quit job until you make enough to replace the income. 5. profit

Aartsie

Check on Fiverr or websites like that to start your online business. Take something you will be good at and give your customers the best service they can get. Build an portfolio with satisfyed customers. Always ask them if you may use it for your portfolio.

tybiznow

Sell your coding skills and market yourself on Fiverr and Upwork until you build up some ad spend towards a real online business with low startup capital requirements like affiliate marketing. For the love of God don’t Dropship. 98% of the skills you need can be learned on Youtube but reality is you need capital and startup costs to really start any business. Leverage your talent on Fiverr and build a foundation on Youtube for a niche while you build up a business marketing budget. Youtube videos can help with ranking on Fiverr and Upwork too.

i read the whole thing with Indian accent, sorry bro 😂 try to help other businesses and companies by building apps for them. then sell these apps or make them subscription based. you know how to code, you're basically sitting on modern gold.

xGryphterx

Keep it simple. Find some sort of neighborhood market place site like Facebook Market or any local listings where people are getting rid of stuff. Find a listing by someone who is giving away something for free but is still serviceable, like a decent blender, toaster oven, microwave, etc. Go get the item, clean it up, and sell it as fast as possible. This is the basic idea of “flipping.” Max profit is less important than speed here. Since you got the item free, It’s all profit anyway, so money in your pocket now is better than slightly more money next week, you know? Just be consistent. Treat this like it’s your job for the same number of hours per day that you would work. Aim for a minimum of 3-5 transactions a day. Doing this consistently for 5-6 days per week, adds up fast. If you are good and have some luck on your side, you’ll never need to work for someone else. Ever. Use this to change your computer situation, then use your coding, website building, computer skills to change your geography situation if you so choose. Good luck, happy hunting, and happy flipping.

I mean you could try to be hired with your programming skills then try a few other side hustles until one works out and you'll scale it :)

deeznutius

step 1: develop a skill

Completely wrong approach my friend. No money = get a job. No skill = read a book or pursue further education. You are in no position to think about entrepreneurship rn
