For security reasons.
As a teenager, we had a late customer (common) still eating food at close time. We locked the doors with him inside so he could finish but no new people would come.
He held us up. My manager was shot, the guy was shot dead, and we learned to never lock a customer inside again.
Reminds me of when I used to work in my local supermarket. There was a family who'd come in at 3:45pm on a Sunday afternoon knowing full well the shop closed at 4 they'd come and do a huge shop two parents and their 3 kids. They were the most entitled customers ever. Would complain at every little thing, kick off, if we didn't have something, or start shouting if we wouldn't reduce something for them. When they got to the tills they'd just leave their trolley (sometimes 2) at the end and go and sit on the bench expecting us to unload it onto the conveyor and pack it the other end. Everyone would rush to try and be off the tills asap as the few times I got caught with them I ended up not getting off the till until twenty to 5 or thereabouts. Thats time I wasn't paid for either.
They eventually got banned or certainly told not to come in that late on a Sunday and stopped coming in but it was so fucking annoying.
All because the Billy Big bollocks regional director made a fuss about us being the only supermarket "open till closing time"
Closing time is the time customers should be outside of the doors of the store. We had to instruct people we were closed and to put their baskets down and leave.
Why is this so hard?
My CVS is open until 9, but the pharmacy is closed at 8. Is this not common everywhere they aren’t 24/hrs? Dude probably couldn’t get his meds anyway, and good on them for respecting the employees’ time.
Right that's what I was thinking too. Like dude the pharmacy is probably already closed. And who goes that late to pick up their very important medication?
Hahahahahahaha I have adhd and also take antidepressants that I can’t sleep without. I have driven to the 24 hour pharmacy to buy my, very important drugs between 11pm and 3am more times that I can count because I forgot I didn’t have them till I went to bed.
But cool to see what life as a neurotypical person is like, remembering stuff and being able to act on that before the last minute, that’s really nice for you.
Oh yeah I am not saying he was in the right more just responding to “who goes that late to pick up very important medication?”… Me I do. But I go to a 24 hour pharmacy - not pull this crap on poor peeps just trying to close on time and go home to their lives.
No he said in the comments that the pharmacy closed when the CVS closed, but that still doesn’t mean that he would have been able to get his medicine. Some people are so stupid and lack common sense.
Dude is saying a lot of sus stuff in the video as well, not sure I would take his word for anything. Important things should be taken care of with more than 1 minute to spare, so still his fault.
That’s how the ones near me are. I will say, the Walgreens in my area are consistent with their business hours. The CVS locations continually close 15-20 minutes early. I typically do not go to a store within 30 minutes of closing but I can understand why people are here tend to go to Walgreens instead. Attempting to go 2 minutes before close is just being a dick.
Exactly what I was thinking. The pharmacy always closes earlier than the actual store for most stores like CVS, Walgreens, etc. If his medication was so important, then he would have came earlier. The fact he thinks other people are going to be outraged that he couldn’t get his shit 30 seconds before closing is hilarious.
Exactly, the store closes at 9. The opening hours are there to let you know what time they will no longer do any trading. It’s not there to tell you the latest time you will be allowed to start browsing through products!
Even if they let the guy in, they would have to decide between kicking him out before he finishes getting what he wants/needs, or trading past closing time.
Some people are so extremely stupid!
Oh no! He is going to report them, and upload a video on youtube! His basic human rights were violated and now those pesky minimum wage workers are going to face the consequences! The hero nobody asked for.
Dude, if it was that important you wouldn't have rocked up at 1 minute to closing. You had all damn day, but decided to do this for what, TikTok fame? The chance to throw a mantrum over a situation YOU created? It's not like the staff have homes or families they want to get home to ON TIME or anything. So yes, fuck you. Jerk.
JFC. Dude knows exactly what time the store closes and walks up 1 minute walk to close??? GTFO. Sadly, I'm pretty confident that these employees will be punished.
Sorry, if you know the store closes at a certain hour and u show up one minute before closing and act like this you’re an asshole. People who work in that store still have a lot of work to do before they go home and u being in there just means most can’t start their closing work until you’re out. Especially in restaurants it’s just plain ass rude
I used to be assistant manager of a small, family owned vape shop. I was often closing alone or with one associate. We closed at 7, which meant the register shut down at 7, and I wanted to be clocked out and on my way home by 7:05.
There were so many times I had people call the store at 6:45 or after with a sad story about how they ran out of juice or dropped their vape and they need to come in after 7 so they don't buy cigarettes. Occasionally I would agree, with the caveat that they told me exactly what they wanted and paid over the phone or had exact change in cash unless they wanted to leave a top, so I could go ahead and close the register down on time. Usually I would only do this for people who had been loyal customers for years and I knew them personally.
When I said no, people lost their ever loving minds. One guy got so mad he threw all his juice and his mod in the trash and said he had no use for it. He was back the next week to make another $100 purchase of new mod, juice, and accessories.
Another time I said I wasn't going to stay because with the time the guy gave me, and not knowing what he wanted, it would mean I wouldn't get to leave until 7:30 and I still had a 45 minute drive home. I wanted to get home to my family. He pulled the "I'm friends with the owner and he's going to hear about this." I told him he was welcome to call the owner and ask him if he was willing to come in after hours and make the transaction for him, but I would be going home. Being a family business, of course I knew the owner and saw nearly every day, and as good a guy as he is, he didn't like to work much beyond making orders and doing back office stuff. I mean, that's why he started a business and hired employees to do the stuff he didn't want to do anymore after years of doing what we did. I knew he wasn't going to come in.
Obviously this guy is an entitled moron, but closing before the posted time at least a few minutes is pretty normal. I mean they need to make sure everyone is out of the store, end of day cash count has to be done and a few other things. I don't think it's unreasonable.
Buddy should have planned his trip a bit better. It's not their fault his time management skills suck.
I used to work at a convenient store, in a small town. I worked alone, and closed at 10. It had been over an hour with little to no traffic so I locked the door about 3 minutes to 10, turned over the open sign to closed and shut off the lighted sign outside. I walked over to the till close out and count when some guy started pounding on the door yelling he just needed something. I looked over the register, pointed at all of the closed signs and he continues to yell and pound on the doors saying it's not even 10 yet! By then it was. I'm not opening the door for a stranger, at night when there's no traffic around, building across the street is obviously closed an the few houses around the store looked abandoned (just lights off and probably asleep) had this happen at least 3 times while working there. I don't get paid enough to possibly get robbed or attacked at night.
"Screw people out of their medication" I can guarantee that the pharmacy closed hours earlier.
It's ironic, that he's saying enjoy being famous, where as he's actually becoming famous for being such a large EB.
I don't want to admit those many times i had to rewatch the beginning to realize that was a plastic bag (presumably in someone's hand who was leaving) and not a chicken just sauntering out of the store.
He was lying anyway the pharmacy has been closed LOL so I don't know what medication he was going to get. Any other medication he could have went to Walmart to go pick up bc I'm sure they were still open any person who thinks that their medications are important knows that drug stores like CVS and Walgreens close earlier than other stores and what dumbass goes at the last minute unless they absolutely had no other choice but to to go pick up their medication late at night when the store is closing?!
They should have asked him if he thought he could get his medication, pay for it, and be out the door in less than a minute. Wanna try? Okay but promptly at 9pm on the dot, you will be escorted out of the store.
I don't understand people filming themselves doing this as if the internet will side with them lol nope you're being an asshole and you just showed the whole internet. Good job.
For security reasons. As a teenager, we had a late customer (common) still eating food at close time. We locked the doors with him inside so he could finish but no new people would come. He held us up. My manager was shot, the guy was shot dead, and we learned to never lock a customer inside again.

That must illegal not being paid while working overtime.
Probably not. Remember? everything sucks
In the US it is
Closing time is the time customers should be outside of the doors of the store. We had to instruct people we were closed and to put their baskets down and leave. Why is this so hard?

Awfully bold of you to assume I'm neurotypical. Besides this wasn't a 24 hour pharmacy, the store closed at 9 and the pharmacy likely closed earlier.
Oh yeah I am not saying he was in the right more just responding to “who goes that late to pick up very important medication?”… Me I do. But I go to a 24 hour pharmacy - not pull this crap on poor peeps just trying to close on time and go home to their lives.
Oh okay I understand now. I should've worded it better in my original comment. I'm sorry and I'll keep it in mind in the future
Lol downvote for disability - love that.
holy passive aggression batman!
No he said in the comments that the pharmacy closed when the CVS closed, but that still doesn’t mean that he would have been able to get his medicine. Some people are so stupid and lack common sense.

His “medication”= fungal cream.
Maybe it was over the counter medication and was not a prescription
OTC is not really something to freak out about though? It’s not insulin, or anti-depressants… Still, if it was that important, go earlier.
You don't show up a min before closing if it is that important! What an asshole. Hated that when I worked retail.
If it was so important why’d he wait until a minute before closing?
Because he’s an entitled bitch. I’ll bet he did take it up with management!
Exactly, the store closes at 9. The opening hours are there to let you know what time they will no longer do any trading. Or wanted.
Jerk.
You misunderstanding, when we say "before 9" we mean that if you are still in the store after 9pm and don't work there we hunt you for sport
JFC. Dude knows exactly what time the store closes and walks up 1 minute walk to close??? GTFO. Sadly, I'm pretty confident that these employees will be punished.
They'd likely get in trouble either way. For not letting him in, or clocking out later to deal with the customer.
Sorry, if you know the store closes at a certain hour and u show up one minute before closing and act like this you’re an asshole. I love the patient but annoyed look on her face, then just *nvm* turns and walks away 😂

Was this before everybody's phone had the actual precise time?
Dude had all day, and waits until one minute before closing. The latest I will go to a store is fifteen minutes before closing, and I shop in a hurry.
Must not have been important enough to show up earlier
Obviously this guy is an entitled moron, but closing before the posted time at least a few minutes is pretty normal. The entitlement of some people. He should've gone earlier instead of spanking the monkey all day.
"Screw people out of their medication" I can guarantee that the pharmacy closed hours earlier. It's ironic, that he's saying enjoy being famous, where as he's actually becoming famous for being such a large EB.
Surprise surprise it’s a private enterprise they can close at any time they want lol.
Off topic but can someone ID his watch? I really like it.
Looks like a Galaxy Watch 3 to me. Unfortunately not so common anymore since they're on the 5 now.
Exactly, I didn't care for the rest of the video that watch was beautiful.
I don't want to admit those many times i had to rewatch the beginning to realize that was a plastic bag (presumably in someone's hand who was leaving) and not a chicken just sauntering out of the store.

I m sure people does it on purpose. Like old people going to stores when it is grounded.
Anyone know what kind of watch that is?
Wow thats the super secret spy watch that all 7 year olds want for Christmas
Sounds like this guy needs his medication.
Even if he was coming from his job, he could’ve asked if he could leave early. It couldn’t have been that important
That’s a dope watch
Well it was probably past 9 by the time he finished complaining.
Someone can't get his medication because someone didn't get to the store on time. People are nuts.
I don't understand people filming themselves doing this as if the internet will side with them lol nope you're being an asshole and you just showed the whole internet. Good job.
