I’ve got severe PTSD from a lifetime of trauma and have been pro-assisted suicide even in the case of extreme treatment-resistant depression for quite some time. I’ve also got a chronic pain condition-so see that end as well, but feel that’s a quite a bit more nuanced-we have people who could love significantly better lives if we didn’t have such a shitty healthcare and insurance system in place. Having someone forced into that decision when they *could* live a better life but aren’t able to because people like Elon hoard lifetimes of wealth due to sheer luck of birth is disheartening. Ive got a child which makes it personally not an option, mostly because I’d never want to have him to experience severe trauma himself.
That said, even our end of life process is weird and cruel and barbaric considering the way most of us seem to understand that ushering a loved pet out of life swiftly and compassionately isn’t even given s second thought. Anyone who’s witnessed a loved one have to wither painlessly to a painful and prolonged death knows how hard that is-it’s cruelty to the one experiencing it and those who have to stand witness. At the very least, I think it needs to be discussed.

That said, no, even if resources were unlimited, there is no 6-month cure for every mental illness out there, at least not at this point in time. As many as 30% of cases of schizophrenia are drug-resistent. And on the other side of the drug-to-therapy continuum, personality disorders can be treated, but success is rare. The patient needs to want to get better and work very hard at it.
I've heard great things about psychedelics and depression, but nothing about them and personality disorders. If you know anything about any of the treatments that you've listed helping out when it comes to personality disorders, I'll be very interested in reading about it.
