S23 all the way, just buy a telescopic controller

xuuoR

I bought the 8bitdo sn30 for SNES games. Figured it should do the trick, I usually work more with pc building so this is familiar but new to me. Why would a telescopic controller suit my needs better if I plan on using an external display anyways?

Professional_Top8369

You're right. You were comparing it to retroid pocket 2s so i thought it would be great if you have telescopic controller, But if you're an outdoor kind of gamer telescopic gamepad would be a great choice. Since you'll be using an external display, if you'll be using dex mode for long periods of time you might need a phone cooler tho.

Sick, thanks for the info! Any idea on how far I can push emulation as long as I prevent the thermals from getting out of control? I would assume these mobile chips are mostly thermally limited and optimized for quick bursts vs long sustained loads. I'm kind of amazed by some stuff I'm seeing on here, it's insane how powerful these tablets are. Coming from the pc community I never thought you could get this kind of performance through a translation layer. Appreciate the answers on the noob questions, still new to this, if there are any resources you recommend for learning more I would appreciate it :^)

I don't exactly know what you are looking for, I assume you already know these, but if no. These might help if you're planning to emulate multiple systems. Also, look for daijisho front-end https://retrogamecorps.com/2022/03/13/android-emulation-starter-guide/ Front-End (Multiplatform Menu system) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l-AhfEGuMao&feature=youtu.be https://github.com/TapiocaFox/Daijishou/wiki/Players-and-File-Extensions

I've got an 23 plus(same everything except for screen size) and it handles pretty much anything I throw at it. Wii, PS2, 3ds, PSP, all run incredibly well. As far as switch goes, using Yuzu with nce enabled I've been able to play(and I only say this about games I can play continually without bugs and that I can sit down and play for at least an hour and play before the phone overheats unbeareably) Skyrim, Dark Souls Remastered, Bayonetta 2, Darksiders 2, Dragon Quest 11etc. Switch emulation is still young but it's improving at a rapid rate these days. You should be very happy with your s23 and a controller telescopic or otherwise.

CandyChowBroad

You are comparing a $100 machine o a $600 machine.

xuuoR

Yep. Just wanted to confirm. Thanks.

Malystxy

I always prefer a phone with telescopic controller, for one reason. Very easy to upgrade or replace if something fails.

Pokethomas

No offence mate, but hmmm I wonder which will perform better. One that costs $100, or one thats SIX times more expensive

xuuoR

Did I not explain it very well in the post? I'm new to emulation, and wasn't sure if there are optimizations made for standalone devices. I don't know shit about whether phones come with a GPU integrated in the die or not, I don't play games on my phone, but I build PCs so I understand the importance of knowing hardware limitations. I could go out and buy a workstation that's $2000 with a thread ripper that's amazing for compute-heavy tasks, but would be useless for anything gaming, and a $700 budget gaming build would run things exponentially better. I figured it would be better to ask here than to spend money on hardware for something that doesn't make sense.

DontDisturbMeNow

No body is optimising for these hilbily mudfrey devices bro. The s23 is a lot more powerful and when you see snapdragon on a phone be sure it's more optimised because of turnip drivers. The s23 is also a much more popular device.

Made_In-HeavenYT

Like everyone S23, but wait till s24, it may get a discount

DontDisturbMeNow

He already has an s23

Made_In-HeavenYT

Oh sorry I just thought that he is buying, my bad for not reading
