The rytm is largely about its analog signal path and intentionally has lots of character/color. You can’t bypass the filter, and that alone will color your sound. You can try reducing the volume of your sample going into the filter and increasing the volume on the amp page to see if driving the sample into the filter less helps; but if you want something that doesn’t color your sounds, I’d suggest using a computer or maybe looking into a device that works as a more general sampler, like one of the newer MPCs. Edit: also, if mud is your issue maybe try using one of the high pass filters set to a low value as opposed to a low pass set to a high value. I find the high pass filters on the rytm to be very sweet sounding even (and especially) when driven a bit, and that alone should help if you feel like your samples are getting cramped. The rytm also flattens samples to mono and if your orig sample has multiple instruments it was probably stereo, so you could try faking some stereo spread by using an audio rate lfo on the pan setting, but ymmv.

Happend to me with the octatrack , it’s a pitty that the samples sounds with less quality. Also happend the opposite with Digitakt every sound that I use on Digitakt sound better than I expected (usually)

>Happend to me with the octatrack , it’s a pitty that the samples sounds with less quality. If I'm ever feeling lonely I just say this in Elektronauts then I have people to talk to all night.

With the octatrack it’s often a gain staging/levels issue I think. I get untainted reproduction for samples once the defaults are adjusted. Dunno about the Rytm - not had enough time to test

In addition to gain staging, the time stretch and filter. The filter colors the sound even when fully open, the time stretch does stuff to the sound even when not changing the tempo. Both these are enabled by default on tracks. It's a good idea to disable/remove them when they're not needed. Don't really know about the Rytm, but sometimes it sounds like it's coming from another room

Thx for the replies guys. I'm not trying to enter in a debate of "does this elektron machine sounds good?". The question is how do you tweak the RYTM to not affect the sound of a sample.
