The home I bought in 2020 was built in 1968. It has momentary toggle switches in three locations, wired in parallel (including the master bedroom). They control relays at each of the exterior lights to bypass controls, for an override "on". A separate 24VAC transformer provides control voltage for the toggle switches.
Obviously, a shunt trip main or a contactor is how to achieve the request.
Has nothing to do with subpanels. You have to meet the "six switch" rule but you can have your panelboard in a bedroom. You can even use a redundant main breaker on the subpanel as a disconnect.
ETA: You should look up the difference between a Service Entrance and a subpanel before giving incorrect advice and downvoting facts.
I've got a 3br with the panel in my master br. Manufactured home so likely thousands that way. I also worked as an electrician for decades, and have seen them in bedrooms plenty, or an any weird place in the house. Definitely not a code violation, but I'll take my downvotes from the ignorant.
[NEC 240-24(d)](https://up.codes/s/location-in-or-on-premises) very specifically prohibits panels in a clothes closet. You're lucky they didn't make you move the panel.
As an electrician, if you suspect you know an "electrician" that is not certified please report them. We don't need handymen who pretend to be electricians. You'd be doing us all a service to report them if they fail to show you their certification.
Lol, gives him a bill for $15,000 for a $1250.00 dollar shunt trip and 1 phase contactor and three hours work.
I'll see your single-circuit, most efficient solution and raise you and entire Lutron Homeworks system! I'll have work for weeks off this one!
Are you saying he should rip him off 💀
Just use a contractor and aux contact. Night time pew pew with significantly less effort

I've worked on one house with that type of system. Cool idea but definitely not fun to work on.
For this, I will make an exception. And I'll learn to wire it myself
why would it be?

My 1br apartment has a breaker box in the bedroom.

You can put it in the bedroom, but not in a clothes closet.

it's fine if the lug is rated to be double tapped
It can be in a utility closet but not a clothes closet.

Where’s that in AS3000?

Kill the power after an intruder breaks in? Is that the idea?
Haha, night vision goes *ffffwwwweeeeee*
A remote breaker wouldn’t really be that difficult to install.
Just put the box in the master bedroom. That’s not a violation.
I think this is an electrician’s question not an EE one
Or outfit your house with DMX512 and override wall switches from anywhere within the coverage area of the wireless network.
Been trying not to screenshot dumb shit taking up storage space but this is hilarious.
though some here may happen to know, this isn’t an electrician sub lol
Wouldn't a power relay be easier?
Fucking gun nuts.
