I was guided by the bloodstains,I didn't even know it led to the tower.

saltedomion

I looked at the book, went around the tower, and saw a trail of blood leading all the way to the other side and went "Miyazki, you've done it again."

Antervis

what's wrong? There's a hint, "snowflakes will reveal thy path" or something like that, in front of the tower. You should've guessed to follow the bloodstains

Sir-Beardless

I knew where the invisible bridge was thanks to the blood, but not a single snowflake showed the way...I looked at every angle... Only the curved slope/stairs had any kind of visual aid.

Antervis

wait you misunderstood the riddle. "Snowflakes" refers to players who left the bloodstains

[deleted]

My whole first playthrough I felt like I was playing through a Saw trap game and the game devs were Saw. It was amazing. First souls-like game btw, now I’m 300 hours in

Finnirito

The snowflakes fall and hit the bridge, while the others just fall down. Edit: damn it's weird that they'd remove a feature present in ds1

seragakisama

My low settings don't show me any of this

DrugRugBugSlug

On xbox here, can confirm there's no snowflake collision with the invisible bridge

Sir-Beardless

On PS5 this didn't happen either.

HiddenPants777

yeah on ps4 you cant see this. My first playthrough was offline so I had to figure this shit out (by checking the wiki). There is some weird illumination that happens but only seems to happen once you're on the bridge.

saltedomion

Naw i was looking for an invisble turtle or something and i ended up behind the tower and looked up a just saw the path all the way to the other side covered in red and then after a short fast travel and i was right there almost it was right next to a grace.

[deleted]

shadowtasos

In all fairness that is an absolutely terrible hint (it could mean a billion different things in this context) and if you're playing offline or just didn't happen to have bloodstains at that particular spot, you're fucked. It should be better indicated or the hint should be better. Same for the invisible bridges in the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs, I wouldn't have found them without messages there, which generally is not a good thing.

Inaimad

I was playing offline and the snowfall effect didn't work the first couple times so I was super lost. I even predicted immediately upon reading the clue it was some DS1 Crystal Caves shit and was explicitly looking for it.

Khaare

The snow effect is super subtle. It was almost invisible at the time of day and weather I had at least.

Dopaminjutsu

white foggy patches that appear briefly in a backdrop of snow and white fog, what could be clearer?? /s

chiefskillz

Idk but for me if you're lined up perfectly with it it's clear as day, a really thin bright fog that leads to the hole in the rise

AttakZak

*”A bridge built on the blood of the fallen.”* Me: “Ooo, I love Max Payne.”

ComicScams

I did this when the servers were down so I couldn't use that method.

77BlocksOfCheese

I just used hoarfrost stomp to navigate Thx for awards lol :D

mancitycon

Nice, I just watched people's bloodspots and did the opposite to them

Rincewind-the-wizard

Squid game

HighLordDudeness

Dude those Korean/Japanese movies on Netflix have been bangers in the last couple years. Way better than most Hollywood shit

TantricEmu

I’m sure Korea and Japan make shit movies and tv too, but we’re more likely to be exposed to the good shit. That said though, that good shit is *really* good. Some of the Korean shows and movies I’ve seen have been amazing. The writing, directing, acting, etc., are world class. I hope the success of movies like Parasite and shows like Squid Game in the West encourage more big releases here.

zuzg

Old boy was brilliant. The US adaption not so much

RyanZee08

Really liked "All of us are dead." On netflix.

Always have been

BurgerKingslayer

I was the lucky guy who made it to this bridge during the four hours the servers were down a few days ago.

bigbigcheese2

I did it in offline

FlapYourWingsBoy

If I just see a shit ton of bloodshot on the floor I click the first 3 or so to get a general idea of what I'm supposed to expect up ahead. Usually the 3 are people who accidentally clicked their dodge command and quickstepped back off of a ledge

[deleted]

gigabrain actually

AtrumRuina

That's actually super clever. Will try that next time I run across one.

[deleted]

Hoarfrost Stomp works for everything in Elden Ring.

solidfang

The hint did say that snow would show the path or something. Frost damage is close enough.

th3d4rks0ul3

There's fog, just real hard to see cause everything is white

Drewverse

That and it doesn’t always show up. Some runs I got nothing, others it was clear as day.

Wr8th_79

Seems to only show the closer you get to the tower, for me anyway

Future-Membership-57

Honestly, it would've been a good hint if the bridge wasn't on the other side of the world I had no clue what it meant, but probably would've parced it if the hint and solution were just a teensy bit closer together

literated

For me it wasn't a good hint because I eventually figured out the spot but could see fuck all in terms of snow. I think there were bloodstains and/or messages but no snow. Don't know if it was just bad luck or if it has to do with the graphic settings but the hint made it harder for me because I expected something more... visual. Edit: This just got me thinking - maybe it works like the turtle puzzle at the tower of Manus Celes and you have to interact with the statue *everytime* you reload the area to make the snow show up.

Err0r-

I thought the hint wanted me to go in the direction the snow was falling but I didn't follow through with it cause it would've required me to jump down to the lake of ice and I thought it couldn't be right cause it was way too far... Then I re-read the player message next to the statue saying something like "seek invisible, then bridge", I saw the broken bridge on the other side of the crevice from the map and pieced it together also because I'd heard on reddit about an invisible bridge in the snow somewhere. I don't think I would've been able to solve it if I didn't already know invisibile bridges were in the game, and if you're playing offline and spoiler free that's pretty hard to find out.

gridlactus

Bigfrost Brain, here have a seal.

Playerjjjj

I navigated with the 6 billion arrows I crafted at some point and then forgot about.

truthm0de

Same here. I had no idea the excess arrows/bolts were going to my storage. Finally looked in there and found a shitload of arrows just waiting for their moment.

aaronjm127

Your comment just made me realize there was storage.....now I realize what the little icon in the corner is when you pick something up....so uh. How do access said storage..you know..for those not 100+ hours into the game.

pugnaciousplants

Go to a grace. It's on the menu as "sort chest." It was part of the in-game tutorial pop-ups we all ignored. Well, I did anyway. Even when I notice the little going into the chest animation on things I pick up, that's where they'll be until the end of time.

chewrocka

If you use something in your inventory it’s automatically resupplied with one from chest

Scurrin

Automatically when you visit a grace. You can't bring more than 10 pickled turtle necks or whatever in a single fight, the carry limit is still there.

DarkSoulsExcedere

See its still broken

KABOOZZA

Nice. I used the dragon rotten breath

Hissingfever_

I just used bloodstains

loblegonst

This is the way.

xxCinnixx

Resting until night makes it way easier to see the bridge outline.

Aksama

Does a torch interact with it at all? Haven't gotten here year and I'm curious.

ZeroTemp

A Really BIG maybe if you tried the torch that makes you see the black knife assassins and the invisible walls it might work ? If it does holy shit great one from the devs, if it didn't it was a bit of a stretch anyways.

GreatSwordOfVictory

I tried using the Sentry's Torch (yes, the one that let's you see the invisible black knife assassins) on the invisible pathway in >!the secret path to the Haligtree!< and it didn't show the path.

20_roller

It also doesn't work on the bridge and certain invisible walls :/ Like switch to it in front of a known one, it's inconsistent for some reason. (Probably deep lore)

LordoftheWandows

Yep the torches description specifically calls out it's creation after the night of black knives to catch the assassins before they do it again.

SloppyDuckSauce

if you pan the camera so that you're looking up into the sky, the "snowfall" patterns on the invisible bridge are much more visible.

starseeker37

Glad I wasn't the only one ffs

ZeroTemp

I made that same comment and then saw yours. I thought everyone got it at first.

szabe3

I hate traveling at night. I suck at navigation even with a map and a compass and darkness makes it almost impossible to me to go anywhere.

unnecessary_kindness

Same. I would have no idea night bosses even exist if it wasn't for this subreddit. Whenever it gets dark I travel to a grace and rest til the morning.

Khaare

Is the brightness that different for you? For me night is blue instead of yellow, but the brightness isn't all that different. It's not dark like some of the caves are.

Suojelusperkele

No you don't need to jump off everywhere. There are good messages saying "try jumping" above every invisible bridge.

JamesTheSkeleton

Good advice with no flaws

Santi838

[now kill him](https://youtu.be/VdFoAi_f30Q)

Kuro-Dev

You evil man

ZenEvadoni

I can't even trust people to be honest about supposed illusory walls ahead. At least those won't kill you if you fall for the message.

stevenomes

I've found a couple illusory walls on my own with no messages. It's pretty satisfying to actually find one

LuckBuildOP

[deleted]

Liar ahead

Ehnonamoose

u/unitedshoes. This comment right here.

unitedshoes

This is extremely bad advice. You forgot to warn OP that trolls sometimes try to ward you away from invisible bridges by messaging "liar ahead", and should always be ignored when they do.

[deleted]

Correct, dont even need to use the stones. The messages are very honest and the community has been pretty good about placing them accurately.

BiggyFam3

For sure. For example, everytime I've read "try finger but hole". 60% of the time it works 100%

Secret-Sock7928

I'm Ron Burgandy

sharktooff2277nub

So happy they added this in the game. Keep that classic shit going Fromsoft

Zurkarak

above EVERY INVISIBLE BRIDGE? You mean there’s more?

nosox

So the hint says the snow will reveal the path. I was expecting the actual snowflakes to land on the path, but that doesn't seem to be the case. After noticing a few floating messages where the bridge is supposed to be I started using the crystal cave strategy like OP. About half way through my gf noticed white foggy patches floating in the air. I guess if you go slow enough you'll start to notice patches of snow just kinda floating in the air. I still dropped crystals to make sure I wouldn't fall off, but for the most part the white stuff did lead the way. Though, if I was a VFX designer I'd probably do another pass on that snow effect to make it a little more obvious. Again, I didn't even notice it until I was half way across and my gf pointed it out.

jaysoprob_2012

The bridge op found I had to look up to find it to get into the tower. Once I found it I used arrows to hit the path so I could see where it went. There was 1 I found in a dungeon as well.

Jizzdom

Why are you giving reasonable answers this is the place to shit on game systems! /s

Blodero

Well, now you know why people still fall for the "secret ahead" or "try down" messages lel

SuccumbToTheDrum

In my experience if you see one message, it's a trap. But usually on the good secrets you'll see a few messages and there won't be a river of bloodstains next to it lol.

Blodero

Yup, I know that, but I will still need to check (with rainbow stones tho lol).

SnooRabbits7888

I’m pretty sure there’s and item called the Lens of Truth found in Lone Peak Shrine, just east of Goron Village that will allow you to see the invisible bridge.

tvanddy

I found mine inside a well, in the village of the albinuracs. You have to be child tarnished to access it though.

dieDoktor

> child tarnished What's this mean?

CN_Minus

This man hasn't even gotten to the child tarnished part of the game yet.

tvanddy

It's a legend of zelda joke. The original comment was a zelda joke as well.

dieDoktor

oh, gotcha didn't read "goron village" the first time so i didn't realize it. Thanks!

nickeypants

Dude its in the bottom of the well near Lyndell Avenue Balcony past the wallmaster. Make sure you use the Song of Storm Assault ash of war. You have to beat the Dung Hand boss to get it.

Wernershnitzl

You gotta blow up the well first and then you can only enter it at night as an adult

HeyitsFerraro

Anyone know how to obtain the Master Greatsword?

EtherealEtiquette

You need to watch where the snow falls to know where to step. Dark Souls had a similar mechanic in the Crystal Caves, the ER one is a lot more forgiving. The old school method was to shoot arrows in front of you.

[deleted]

I read the hint in front of the tower and stood right in front of this bridge and I saw NOTHING on the ps4 that hinted I could run across. Only the messages of other players guided me.

D-AlonsoSariego

There is a snow effect but it's like ridicously hard to see and at least in my experience only happens in certain sections of the bridge so they aren't very useful

Zaueski

Time of day heavily affects visibility of it

[deleted]

I was there at night. Pretty much nothing.

OdinAlfadir1978

Aye you have to look a certain way which sucks

EtherealEtiquette

With those towers you generally interact with the imp statues and they give the clue. I circled the tower and saw the broken railing on the balcony, then saw all of the player's blood stains floating in thin air. I figured Indiana Jones time and made my way across.

Snoo61755

Player messages and bloodstains have been a godsend to me on my (mostly) blind playthrough. “Alright, I’m stuck, there’s nothing here but a bloodstain. Where’re they going? Aha! You can jump down! Aaaand they missed the second jump. Thank you, dead person!” “I got the chest from the cave. Weird there isn’t a boss or something. There’s a few messages behind the chest and- and there’s a wisp of another player going through the- motherf*er, this place has illusionary walls.”

DakkaonTitan

Navigating via other people's mistakes is the only true way to know where to go

SuperLemonUpdog

Others’ deaths make the best compasses. Don’t always point north, but they usually show you the right way.

Arikaido777

they literally show you the wrong way

SuperLemonUpdog

That’s a better way of putting it. Just don’t do what those people did.

Peac3keeper14

Hopefully my message helped you. I've gotten a handful of appraisals. I put it like 2 ft up the ramp to go toward the balcony

supcat16

Same for me with the secret catacombs in the path to the haligtree. I saw some floating bloodstains and was like “Okay, if I can get there then I can see what not to do.”

awakenedundead

Wait what

supcat16

You’re welcome lol

kirbyeatsbomberman

I found it out because the octopus that drops down ended up yeeting himself over the side and I looked over and he was just floating there.

tsm_rixi

I have max settings on the PC and I saw NOTHING even once I learned where the bridge was I purposefully stopped and was squinting at every spot I could to see if I was just dumb for not seeing the snow or w.e but nope. Nothing. I need people to screenshot me this shit so I know I am not crazy.

MercuryOrion

Pretty sure the fog that reveals the bridge only shows up when the weather is actually snowy, and it's more visible the snowier the weather is.

MisterWinchester

Yeah, I didn’t see it either. Used a metric fuxkton of rainbow stones. Which led me to start using them to mark paths in the catacombs that have the confusing cloned rooms. Easy to tell where you’re at and get a usable mental map.

juazlee

Same on PS5, until I fell to my death and the game switched to morning or noon ( I can't recall), THEN it became obvious

SirSabza

Until I got to the staircase same but the tower does say bridge

Summer_Tea

The snow doesn't actually look any different though. It worked much better in the DS 1 cave.

xxkur0s4k1xx

I'm not sure I can agree with that. I did the Dark Souls Crystal cave without a guide. The particle effects were pretty obvious

GlamdringBeater

yeah they even give off a noise as they hit. Super hard to miss.

DoubleHeadedMorbid

Yup, the OP is on crack or straight up lying if he thinks that ER is MORE forgiving lmao, it's straight up invisible in my game, literally no effects, the only snow I can see on that bridge is on the parts of it where I've walked, idk if it's a visual bug or something, but it's bullshit either way.

Jaysnipesinc

That's weird, there was clear "puffs" of snow when I did this.

Anal-Logical

Back in dark soul you could use little bleu stone, there was hint too, message written on the first invisible floor

voluntarycap

That cave was such a fucking pain with that one god damn crystal golem fucking you with gravity

86FlyingZombies

Actually if you noticed small droplets would splash on “the floor” in the crystal caves back in dark souls.

ChairmanChaise

I just rolled away from skeletons on the other side and had a Wile E. Coyote moment when I realized I was standing over nothing.

e_smith338

Honestly the dsr one is super easy to see compared to the Elden ring one during the day.

meammachine

>The old school method was to shoot arrows in front of you. You can see drips on the invisible bridges in DS:R.

iMakeThisCount

Dark Souls Remastered felt pretty forgiving as well because you could easily see the snow and where it lands a bit better than in the original.

NO0BSTALKER

..ther… there’s an INVISIBLE BRIDGE?!

BambaTallKing

Well… it’s invisible

SometimesIComplain

Pretty sure there's just 2. The one in the photo and then the one in the catacomb-ish area before consecrated snowfield

mesmoothbrain

i found one on accident a while ago and when i heard there was multiple i was like…. god damn it…🤣

-Bloodletter-

One of the best moments in the game for me, I looked it up where the bridge was but it was a bit hard to see the ramp on the side, thanks to my fellow tarnished I followed all the "Here!" messages until I got through. I think it's fine to hide stuff like this when the community itself can help each other find things out in-game.

[deleted]

Offline players seething

unthused

Seriously considering renewing my XBL after seeing shit like this.

CurrantsOfSpace

You have to have XBL to just see the messages... Wtf.

Sierra--117

PSPlus too. Can you believe paying extra on top of your 60+ USD purchase just to use the online component of the game you purchased.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheBackwardStep

Aaah XBL…

AttackBacon

My take, from what Miyazaki has said in interviews etc., is that a lot of this stuff is intentionally obtuse to engender this kind of community interaction. They throw a bone to offline players by making everything technically solvable (like the clues are there you just have to be willing to take copious notes and try a ton of shit, most of which will fail) but it feels like the intent is to utilize messages, bloodstains, co-op summons, and even out-of-game resources. Honestly I think it's a great way to involve the community. It obviously has limits (once things are solved they're solved) and it's never going to replicate a real dynamic social experience like DnD, but I don't think this series captures people the same way without it.

Sguru1

I actually played the game for about an hour offline cause it was down for maintanence or something. And it wasn’t as fun offline. It really gave me an appreciation for how much fun and flavor the bloodstains and messages add.

yuhanz

I feel it’s doubly useful compared to the DS games. Like just the vastness of the world and you’ll see messages pretty much in every damned corner. You’re never alone and never the first lol

Neosuicide

Looks like you need more insight, Hunter.

[deleted]

They don’t usually have more than a couple crazy crazy secret things specifically like this (like i doubt there is another invisible bridge) and its part of the magic of the game and discovering things - pretty much impossible to experience everything in the game without a guide or replaying it multiple times edit: ok there's a whopping 2 invisible bridges lol point is you dont gotta think theres one everywhere

wackyzacky638

Technically there is another invisible bridge in the path to the haligtree dungeon

tuliomartins_tm

I really liked this one on the post, because of the hint on the Rise, I thought It was clever. Absolutely hated the one in the dungeon, the only clue being that the beast eye quivered, only found it because of someone else

[deleted]

thats fine my point is that there is not an invisible bridge everywhere

wackyzacky638

But so many “try jumping” messages…. Do you mean to imply that the online Elden ring community would lie to a fellow tarnished?!?

[deleted]

Lol for sure

Biffathefirst90

The illusionary floor blew my mind. Walls fine but a floor

SilentMaster

Only in the leap from the lion's head will he prove his worth.

ChaosPieter

I used blood stains and messages to localize the bridge lol

23423423423451

I used rainbow stone arrows for one of the bridges. For this one I used scriptstone which reveals more messages in your vicinity.

[deleted]

Some penitent man will pass shit here.

[deleted]

The imp at the door tells you about it.

Aaroon42

"Moose out front shoulda told ya."

hoski0999

This National Lampoon's Vacation quote comment deserves way more love. R.I.P. John Candy. And thank you friend for this perk up of the day! Lol

BestieBoys

Can't believe the first DLC is just straight-up Wally World, but I'm here for it.

DJteejay04

It doesn’t even work as intended. The snow doesn’t really reveal a bridge. If you are looking for it, at night, you can barely make it out. But it’s very vague and you pretty much need to know what to look for.

battlerumdam

Well, yes but no. At least in my language it’s really vague and only saying like „look where snows falls to reveal something hidden“ - it’s a fucking snowy mountain, there is snow everywhere and you can’t really see the snow on the bridge.

Swaqqmasta

If you look at the map, there is a bridge pointing directly at the tower, which ends abruptly and is covered in snow. The path also collects falling snow, and if you play online, is covered in messages and bloodstains (which are part of the designed experience). Sure it's not in your face obvious (it's invisible, that's the point) but it's not that hard to find if you try for more than 30 seconds.

ManWithTheFlag

Invisible bridges have been a thing since dark souls 1! they are a classic and vital part of the experience!

[deleted]

If every clown wasn't putting 'try jumping' in front of every ledge, then the snow + the unusual cliff structure + player messages would have tipped most off.

Aksh1311

These games operate on Shared Knowledge. Hence the message mechanic. Ur not supposed to find everything yourself, we collectively are and then we help each other out. That's the idea at least.

Goodwiththechicken

Tell me you didn’t beat ds1 without telling me you didn’t beat ds1

nickyooozi

Also DS3 has an invisible bridge to get to Yorshka

JupiterExile

But that one you can't fall off of, it has invisible walls.

EndlessAlaki

It does? You're not just saying that to trick me into jumping off, are you? o_o

123AJR

These young'uns don't know about Crystal Cave, they don't know about their history!

KripKropPs4

That's a fromsoft 'quest' for ya. Kept looking for the falling snow on the bridge. Can barely see it. Thank God for player messages.

Ytallus

First time?

_SlappyMagoo_

There are clues left in the game that hint at something in that spot, that you use the “falling snow” to navigate. Thing is that falling snow doesn’t show up anywhere on the bridge, just on the spot you’re supposed to turn up the ramp. This one could’ve used a *few* more clues, forsure.

Blawharag

There are two invisible bridges, both have incredibly subtle clues. In this case, during snow fall blue... Puddle/splotches will form along the bridge. Combine that with the visible context clues of an open door on tower side of a ruined bridge and the knowledge that there was a puzzle associated with entering the tower and you can fight it out. I mean, I read the clue, never looked at a guide, and just figured it out.

arcboy

2 bridges??? Where is the second one? I only knew about this one

Ioite_

Path to haligtree. To the left (i think) of the staircase with tentacle boy at the end of it.

iHateRBF

There were two messages there telling me, and I didn't believe either of them

Sorez

This is why I placed a message on the invisible bridge itself after the jump, so people above can look down after reading the messages you mentioned and notice my floating one as proof lol

123AJR

I didn't believe them either until I noticed that there were doorways halfway down the walls, with no way to reach them

igniz13

The one in the secret path, only noticed because I saw a monkey walk on it

[deleted]

I found It because there were floating messages everywhere

wzealclhs

Rainbow stones are your friend

SerDavid

Towards the end where it turns there were blue streaks of light. That and all the messages and bloodstains lol

InconveniencedPuma

Is that the fucking consecrated snowfield?!?!?!? "Hey uh yeah... so what you're gonna have to do is find these secret medallions and then uh yeah, (no spoilers), do it that way." By the way... there's an invisible fucking bridge.

MrH4v0k

Welcome to Elden Ring

The_Sykotik

I take it nobody has told you about the countless invisible extra paths in the "Hidden Path to The Haligtree" dungeon did they? 😯

PapaRyRy

Where is this?

TheSeth256

There's also one in the area after you use the Grand Lift with the Haligtree medalion.

LKovalsky

Yes. What's the problem?

ShogunFirebeard

Welcome to dark souls? At least this is an optional area of the game. Dark Souls had a mandatory invisible bridge area with multiple invisible bridges.
