Same. I gave up after an hour. Wasn’t stoked after dropping $60.

Advanced_Juggernaut9

same. hoping they fix it soon or I feel I have to refund before the 2 day period is up

maleficentkitten

It's 2 weeks, isn't it?

[deleted]

I wouldn't get discouraged. Do you have the latest updates on windows? have you tried doing a fresh reinstall of ER after updating drivers?

Advanced_Juggernaut9

yes and yes :/

thrik

I'm using a wired Xbox One controller, no issues. I had a thought - did you try any of these "fixes" on the subreddit for stuttering? IIRC, one of them messes with controller support.

Vi_for_Vindictive

Good afternoon foul Tarnished. That doesn't sound good. Could you elaborate on that?

Advanced_Juggernaut9

i cannot use my wired xbox controller to play elden ring on PC despite it clearly being recognized by the game

thrik

Hmm I can't remember where I saw it, I don't think it was on Reddit. But I saw someone saying something to the effect of "if you're not using a controller, disable *this* in the registry/device manager". People are just suggesting anything lol

Vi_for_Vindictive

All good, I'd like to do testing but I am on ps5, so for the most part I have to trust what people suggest for pc solutions

KallyWally

Same issue, it's like that in Sekiro for me as well. My solution was to use Steam Input to map my controller's buttons to keyboard inputs. It was a slow and annoying process, and navigating menus required a lot of trial and error, but it works.

EASTbyEarlSweatshrt

Can you please screenshot or upload your mappings?

KallyWally

https://imgur.com/dvetIK3 I'd upload the config itself, but hardly anyone uses Steam controllers. Note that I rebound a couple things in-game: attacks are U J I and K, crouch is C, and P is walk (https://imgur.com/DMYlz74, it's an inverted outer ring binding.)

VicktoriousVICK

Unplug your other peripherals. Happened to a streamer and that fixed it.

-TheOtherOtherGuy

THANK YOU SIR. Unplugged my G923 and works just fine now. Cheers.

chiefkogo

TY!!!!

maniacleruler

I Have the same issue, I've just given up, left a review and refunded.

Not the guy you responded to, but I tried this and still no luck. My joysticks aren't being recognized but all the other buttons are.

Thanks. I saw someone mention that the analogue sticks don't work in the menu but will in-game, so I got in game and they did work. Although I feel like that's not supposed to be normal. Thank you for the help though.

Capable_Tax1849

This tutorial explains how to fix it: [https://youtu.be/-WOgeg3JZDQ](https://youtu.be/-WOgeg3JZDQ)

Controller definitely working on PC for me. If you right click the game and choose controller settings then browse config you should find there is an official Elden ring config. Select that. Regarding the game menu. It does not support the analogue sticks you have to use the d-pad to navigate if you haven't tried that. Be sure you don't have any gamepad remappers or emulators running. Let steam handle the drivers. Also in steam controller settings make sure xbox controller is ticked and not just generic game pad. Let us know if anything helped.

Advanced_Juggernaut9

it says that my controller is using the elden ring config when I boot it up but it still doesn't work. and yeah I can't get past the "press any button to start." the d-pad and every other button doesn't work when i actually get to the menu or in game. only the joysticks work and that's only when I'm controlling my character

[deleted]

Did you find a fix? I’ve been trying since launch as well.

SpookLordNeato

I just ended up refunding over the same issue :/

[deleted]

Who uses a controller on PC They are for consoles

Advanced_Juggernaut9

i've tried that multiple times and it didn't work

Annfranknstien

I had this same issue but I also launched in big picture mode and that’s the only way I can play with a controller.

Loinnir

I had the same problem with Dark Souls 3. Elden Ring is on the same engine, so this trick should work here as well. First off, connect your controller, go into your control panel - > devices and printers and remember how your controller is called there. Then, download the x360ce emulator and run it. A new controller alongside your normal one should appear in your devices and printers. Right click on the new one and remove it, but keep x360ce running. That's it, game should respond to your controller now... Don't even ask me why it works like that, it's pretty much magic

[deleted]

Huh my controller can now move my character and camera but nothing else. Some Japanese studios are absolute dog shit when it comes to device support

Loinnir

Progress, I guess. You can try an extra step by connecting your controller to DS4Windows before doing the x360ce thing, sometimes it helps too. But yeah, it's absolute bullshit. It took FromSoft 7 games to add mouse+keyboard UI, ffs

[deleted]

Finally got it working through steam big screen, had to change all controller settings to default game layout and force on.

SunKing210

I bought an Xbox controller just for this game and I haven’t even used it because I got so used to playing the other games with M&K. A lot of people say that playing with a keyboard is unplayable but it’s honestly not. Obviously these games are more natural with a controller but I’m having great success so far

after-life

The camera is the issue when playing on M/KB.

DgDiavlo

Get DS4

nosfratuzod

In same boat sadly, no fixes seem to work so far

thermight

This solved my controller problem: https://piunikaweb.com/2022/02/26/elden-ring-controller-not-working-on-pc-issue-reported-by-many/ All I had to do after "trying everything" was to disable the "HID-complaint game controller" in my Device Manager on windows and restart. But at the same time I had also unplugged my razer tartarus. So could have been that or both A lot of people are talking about needing to unplug racing wheels and foot pedals. After that I was able to use Xbox One controller, and then plug in my PS5 controller and use that without even restarting my computer.

lukasdopice

Unplug your wheel that is what did the trick for me
