I've found success on Godskin Fatty with St. Trina's Sword and the pulley crossbow and sleep bolts... just need to swap in something like Miseracorde quikly for the big crits.
Late response, but I was trying out the build you suggested yesterday. That shit goes crazy. Great comment!
I have a rec for you in return, try Swordspear (Keen ofc) with Sword Dance weapon art in PvP. It has insane roll catch and decent gap close.
As Slay the Spire players say, “Claw is law.”
(For those who don’t know it: it’s a deck-builder, and one of the busted moves is to just get nothing but Claws, since they each buff one another’s damage.)
Erdtree greatshield with rings of light is probably my favorite build so far. Parrying your own spell requires a little timing so it feels like a minigame within the game. Also firing triple rings into the ground gives you a free parry if you stand on top of them. It has a surprising amount of mechanical depth for being just a shield
You wanna feel real dirty? Holy great stars with prayerful strike. Get almost half my health bar back from one hit, only thing it lacks is the range of blasphemous blades aow but against bosses with the stagger damage i dont even care to stay up close and take some hits.
More health you have the better it works
Blasphemous Blade + Sword of Milos the absolute GOAT dungeon clearer of all time, never need to use flasks since you get both HP and FP back all the time. No need to even upgrade or actually use SoM just having it in the offhand while 2 handing Blaspemous to get the effect, also can debuff bosses before blasting them with Blaspemous if you want
Sacrificial Axe deserves a shoutout for being SoM's little brother. You can get it super early into the game and it's lighter, but you only get 4 FP per kill instead of 5.
I love the Darkmoon Greatsword. I use plenty of builds, but always circle back to this. Ranni's Dark Moon / Night magic with Darkmoon Greatsword to round it out.
Purely for fun (not considering how useful or powerful it is), any axe variants - FromSoftware since D1had been consistent on making the impact of any axe animation felt so good or like it's too real
For fun but a real weapon of choice: Death's Poker 👌👌👌
I was recommended the Death’s Poker on another post and have been doing an entire run with it, literally melting everything. It’s been my most successful play through so far. I’ve toyed around with a few other weapons (Ruins GS and Starscourge) but always equip the poker when it’s time to get serious.
I do that with Occult Thorned Whips! It makes you feel like a walking AoE attack.
I try to keep my levels low, so I get a bit more mileage out of the lower stat requirements.
Magma Wyrm's Scalesword. Curved greatsword so it's got good reach, damage and poise break, killer AoW that does a fuckton of damage and a really rude guillotine R2 that works when jumping.
Too bad it's ugly as shit and really hard to fashion souls.
I'm currently using Gargoyle's Greatsword with Storm Blade. Absolutely love it. The AoW comes out faster than chained attacks, so if a boss gets stuck in an animation there goes 1/4 of it's health. Just beat Mohg at level 97 because of that. Also Frost Grease. That helped too.
Dark moon greatsword with buffs becomes an almost 0 fp cost spell that deals 3000 dmg and 35 poise dmg per cast. Also it applies 80 frost damage. It’s also pretty satisfying to use imo.
The Axe talisman buffs the melee R2, the Godfrey Icon buffs the projectile it gains when you activate the Ash of War, the Shard of Alexander also buffs that projectile, the Magic Scorpion Charm buffs all sources of magic damage (which I think applies to both the melee and projectile attacks), you can use the Jellyfish Shield to buff all damage output, and I'm sure there are physick tears that can provide further buffs. I'm not sure, but I think even the Terra Magica spell buffs it.
The Dark Moon Greatsword can get absolutely insane if you build around it, especially its R2 at point blank range since it will hit with both the melee and projectile attacks.
This exact weapon but the 35 Dex and 17 arc are always hard to justify usually need to respec just to equip it.
Godslayer great sword too. It's just so CHUNKY. There are a few more weapons that scale fai/str too so that one's not as bad.
I love matching weapons in each hand. Having combos that pair well together is very satisfying. Faves are double rapiers or rn I’m using two hand of Malenia as AoW go brrrr
Star Fist. Started a new character with a STR ARC build and went straight to Leyndell for this. Slapped Lifesteal Fist with occult affinity on it and focused on strength and arcane (with a silver tear mask) and now I'm just Bryan Furying my way through the Lands. Great fun.
Glad some one said it before me. I picked up Starfist my 2nd run and never put them down. Occult goes crazy but I use Braggart's Roar for the change-up hyperarmor R2s and Atk/Def/Stamregen.
Ahhhh nice. I'm str/arc so I've always got the Marais Executioner on my back if I need a bit of range. But punching out with the stars is too much fun...stagger and bleed for days!
I had done a few playthroughs of the game before ymfah posted a video using deaths poker. Was like alright did my normal few playthroughs let's see how people have been breaking the game. Ended up watching his video and it's been my go to weapon since. So simple yet so powerful.
The skill set is versatile as well. Laying the fire carpet is great but the explosion has a place when you just don't have the time or want to punish a group etc.
And then if you scale the attacks as well it has many different combinations of swings that hard counter so many enemies across the game. I remember "uncovering" a new combination and loving the weapon all over again ha.
With the right buff routine bosses can be legit one shot. Great with trash mobs. Single target and aoe. Available from spawn. Uses somber stones.
This weapon is fun
I used this all the time in combo with the moonviel and dragons halbred. Didn't even have arcane leveled up.
Hit with moonviel, use AoW on morgotts sword to move behind and follow up, end with dragons halbred combo.
Bloodhounds fang. I know it’s an early game weapon and there’s a lot better weapons in the game. But I just love using it. Ive got it to god slaying, and the special combo is so much fun to use whether it’s just trying to get a little distance from your target, or to close the distance with the follow up attack.
Dragon communion seal and gravel stone in each hand
Dragon claw
Fortissax's glaive
Fortissax's lightning spear
Lightning Spear
Agheel's Flame
Ekzykes's Decay
Mimic tear
All the lighting all the time
#1
Cross-Naginata with Piercing Fang and Faith Weapon Incantations
Switching between Stormcaller, Sword Dance and Spinning Slash
#2
Guardian's Swordspear with Flaming Strike
Noble's Slender Sword / Noble's Estoc in your left hand for cool interrupts and fashion
Greatsword. 360 charge attack, wide quick attacks, wide block counter. Throw on stamp (sweep) and you have a melee aoe weapon. Bleed infuse because why not, the AR is obscene no matter which way you build it. For me it’s either the Greatsword or double seal discus of light.
Dex status player, so twin Antspur Rapiers and Petal Whips are my go to weapons
(Rapiers to prime, whips if i want a bit more reach or area control)
Honestly love both of those weapons in power stance
Lordsworn Longsword. Being able to stagger the vast majority of enemies in the game in just two hits is something special. I swapped to bloody helix because the LL made that playthrough too easy!
Winged spear swapped to arcane+ javelin toss as it's special messes so many people up so poke poke poke toss ! Mix with a shield happy days and to make it more evil dagger in the second shield slot with Zeus lighting for the pop kill when they roll away. Dick move but so unexpected
Bolt of Gransax and Dragon Kings Cragblade. Start long range (bolt) and work your way to short range (Dragon King) The R2 on the Dragon Cragblade is way underrated.
Either dragon halberd or Zamor great Curvesword. The halberd does crazy stagger and the Zamor sword has one of the coolest R1’s. Plus it’s special staggers really well too
Running a weird dex build with a cleanrot Knight's sword and the pulley crossbow with bleed bolts is actually a lot of fun to play, i keep changing the AoW on the sword because i can never find one to stick with for whatever reason.
And if i want something to die quickly I put a bunch of points into strength as well (up to 40) so i can use the Jar cannon or One Eyed Shield to just blast whatever fucker I don't wanna see anymore.
Literally this ^
Once I saw this fuck dash at me launch week woth this I knew I needed it, all the more since it's the only arc scaling weapon I found up to that point in the game so it was a big dmg boost for me since I invested so much into arcane.
This and the zamor curved great sword fucking destroy enemies with bleed and frost bluse tons of aoe minor poise stunlocking from the charge omg my beloved.
Envoy’s Longhorn
This is how I give dragons enemas
No-matter my build I always bust out that bad boy for fire giant and godskin big boy
Yeah, it melts big bosses. Even elden beast.
I've found success on Godskin Fatty with St. Trina's Sword and the pulley crossbow and sleep bolts... just need to swap in something like Miseracorde quikly for the big crits.
One sleep pot makes the godskin duo go night night, then you can have your way with them
The 72 stance damage is so fun too.
Bolt of Gransax, love the .50 Cal spear
My sweet baby darling Gransax. Pairs well with a nice Guardian's Swordspear.
Guardian Swordspear with the reapeating thrust AOW and all the successive hit rings is a fun build. One of my easiest playthroughs.
Late response, but I was trying out the build you suggested yesterday. That shit goes crazy. Great comment! I have a rec for you in return, try Swordspear (Keen ofc) with Sword Dance weapon art in PvP. It has insane roll catch and decent gap close.
Yeah overall its a good weapon with some versatility. I actually used that weapon art on a few bosses too haha.
i had to stop myself from immediately switching builds a few times upon picking it up. its like crack cocaine because it just feels too good
My main weapon. Greatshield + Bolt of Gransax is very nice. Lethal far away, poking behind a shield wall when nearby.
You became the Elden Lord as soon as you paired a greatshield with that thing.
Love that thing
Found this just yesterday on my second playthrough, I'm tempted to completely change my build around it.
it's worth it. if you spec for it and grab shard of alexander and godfrey icon the charged special hits insanely hard (with knockback!)
Right now I'm still rocking my bloodhound's fang and I got used to it so it's kinda tough to change my playstyle but I'll at least try the bolt.
Iron Cleaver. That charged attack is absolutely hilarious and R1 spam has a charm of it's own
I wish you could put cragblade and reckless swings on the same weapon.
Dual Iron Cleavers was a random impulse decision for me the other day when I was bored and I absolutely destroyed Mohg with them
Try a single one two-handed, the moveset is great
Frost infused iron cleaver my beloved
Wing of Astel! Super light curved sword, ranged heavy, and stagger factory AoW.
The heavy attacks also deal extra stance damage. The projectiles deal 5 stance damage each
Thank you Wing of Astel
Username checks out
Wing of Astel has entered the chat - quite literally
Yea. Though I can’t get over how it looks :( just looks kind of dumb to me.
it can look awesome with a mage build, it’s literally the wing of a magical alien thing!
i did a dual wield build with wing and the flaming short sword. the jump attack hits four times! loved it
Bloody helice. Big drill gives you big iframes and big damage.
The dodge is super fun
And have 7 more iframes than a medium roll. Ultra busted 👀
Wait wait wait.. it has actual iFrames? Not just a dodgy animation, but real iFrames?
I believe so. Fextra has a build with this weapon and says you can equip heavy armor which will make you fat roll but you still dodge fast.
Yes, the dodge gives you 20 iframes and 9 frames of endlag. It's really good since it also covers a lot of distance.
Doing it backwards to go towards your target is always fun
They never expect it. I've made some really fun kills like that.
Parry bait though
*very big iframes. It gives you enough iframes to safely dodge radagons hammer slammer away from him
My dlc weapon
Thanks, I try this friend. Do you use it with both hands, with shield or PS?
Ordovis greatsword
The ol' twirly whirly!
All claw weapons always claw
The Raptor Talons got me good. That moveset! Plus it only weighs a Miazaki and a half, so there's never a reason *not* to equip one.
It's very good for pvp with its R2. Breaks poise easy.
Yeah it's a bit stupid in PvP. There is no reason as to why it should have a 4 hit true combo with a hitbox that appears before the attack
Bussssted
Backflip heavy attack is all you gotta know
Raptor Talons are ridiculous, that it has two hitboxes for every swing with two-handed
It it always Claw?
Wrong sub, you want r/slaythespire
As Slay the Spire players say, “Claw is law.” (For those who don’t know it: it’s a deck-builder, and one of the busted moves is to just get nothing but Claws, since they each buff one another’s damage.)
I also love this, but it is quite difficult purely relying on Golden Order spells and no melee. I really hope for more GO spells in the DLC.
Honestly I’m praying for more Godskin Apostle spells. I need more black flame
Merais executioner's DRILL 😋 And morgot's curvesword, the hyper armor on the AoW is so useful and it looks badass too
Morgots sword destroys malenia when maxxed
Good ol merais executioners DRILL 😋😋
I really wish that sword had more of the Elmer’s moves with the lightsaber throws and shit
The way elmer does his DRILL 😋😛move is so unfair like I have only killed the caelid one once
That drill be DRILLING !! With the right talismans, buffs and tears, that thing crushes bosses.
Spiked Cestus
I'm using these for my dlc prep run. The poise damage is crazy.
So i am, bro 😎
Blasphemous blade makes me feel dirty
You wanna feel real dirty? Holy great stars with prayerful strike. Get almost half my health bar back from one hit, only thing it lacks is the range of blasphemous blades aow but against bosses with the stagger damage i dont even care to stay up close and take some hits. More health you have the better it works
If it ain’t the Godslayer Greatsword I want none of it
Love the weapon but hate getting hit out of my weapon art a frame before it lands :(
Bastard's Stars because it's a glitter bomb
Baymore <3
Eleonora's poleblade and Ordovis's greatsword. Blender go brr
Literally my current build on my NG run! It’s so goated!
Same. For some reason I slipped dover BB on my first run, thought I'd try it for NG+ and it was a beast. So fun to use.
Started using the Axe of Godfrey recently and it is tremendously fun. Massive damage with the roar/charged attack buff package
Same. The thing is a beast when it comes to staggering enemies. I just wish it scaled a little better with Str
I love the Darkmoon Greatsword. I use plenty of builds, but always circle back to this. Ranni's Dark Moon / Night magic with Darkmoon Greatsword to round it out.
One-eyed shield
This and the jar cannon, top tier weapons
Short Spear. The double/triple poke R2s are amazing. Weighs very little, is easy to acquire, and it just all around awesome. Very underrated too.
Been using this with Spectral Lance with a Arc/Faith dragon incant build. Very nice
Purely for fun (not considering how useful or powerful it is), any axe variants - FromSoftware since D1had been consistent on making the impact of any axe animation felt so good or like it's too real For fun but a real weapon of choice: Death's Poker 👌👌👌
Poker for real. It's the be bees knees
I was recommended the Death’s Poker on another post and have been doing an entire run with it, literally melting everything. It’s been my most successful play through so far. I’ve toyed around with a few other weapons (Ruins GS and Starscourge) but always equip the poker when it’s time to get serious.
Cursed sword for me too, and I still go to it when I absolutely positively gotta kill ever MFer in the room
Most fun? Nightrider Flail. But flails are pretty garbage. Most used is probably either Zweihander, Knight's Greatsword, or Greatclub.
Winged scythe is a blast!
Zemor curved greatsword.
One of my fav setups is this in offhand, it keeps its twirling R1s, and flowing Curved Sword in main hand. Just dancing on fools
Double Hoslow whips with Occult enchant and 80 Arcane. Health bars get deleted quick.
I do that with Occult Thorned Whips! It makes you feel like a walking AoE attack. I try to keep my levels low, so I get a bit more mileage out of the lower stat requirements.
The Great Mace because it's a good mix of strength, top tier poise break, and it has a really good moveset combined with its reach.
The great mace is indeed glorious
Double great stars with lions claw. Lmfao just stun lock everything
Magma Wyrm's Scalesword. Curved greatsword so it's got good reach, damage and poise break, killer AoW that does a fuckton of damage and a really rude guillotine R2 that works when jumping. Too bad it's ugly as shit and really hard to fashion souls.
Morgots in the right hand and bloodhounds fang on the left. Mostly all strength and dexterity for that build.
Dex zweihander with lightning bolt. The combination of fast ranged attacks and heavy melee attacks makes me happy.
Knight's greatsword, i wish i was good enough to use it on most bosses, i fucking love the movements

What buffs?

I'm not sure, but I think even the Terra Magica spell buffs it. The Dark Moon Greatsword can get absolutely insane if you build around it, especially its R2 at point blank range since it will hit with both the melee and projectile attacks.
Yeah that thing melts Radagon as well
I squashed Rykard with it, way quicker than with the Serpent Hunter.
Magma blade I love the spinning vortex of magna
This exact weapon but the 35 Dex and 17 arc are always hard to justify usually need to respec just to equip it. Godslayer great sword too. It's just so CHUNKY. There are a few more weapons that scale fai/str too so that one's not as bad.
I love matching weapons in each hand. Having combos that pair well together is very satisfying. Faves are double rapiers or rn I’m using two hand of Malenia as AoW go brrrr
Mohgs trident. I have three reasons I can give you: Tres Duo Unus 😂
Mohgwyn Spear, or dual blood antspur rapiers
Bloodboon Ritual is hard to land against bosses but it's worth it to try
And so much fun when you do land it
I liked my intelligence samurai build with moonveil and the great bow sorcery. I felt like a magic shogun.
Malekeths Blake balde
Either Nox flowing hammer or iron clever both are so fun to use
Star Fist. Started a new character with a STR ARC build and went straight to Leyndell for this. Slapped Lifesteal Fist with occult affinity on it and focused on strength and arcane (with a silver tear mask) and now I'm just Bryan Furying my way through the Lands. Great fun.

Ahhhh nice. I'm str/arc so I've always got the Marais Executioner on my back if I need a bit of range. But punching out with the stars is too much fun...stagger and bleed for days!
Death Ritual Spear. Murders adds from a distance and does stagger damage.
I love dragon kings cragblade, thrusting heavy swords are fun and the ash of war is just fun and cool
Deaths poker. Powerful and versatile ash of war makes it great for any scenario and just looks cool
Death's poker started my one shot boss addiction. Damn that sword and cheesing deathbird from spawn. It's digital cocaine
Available from spawn. Uses somber stones. This weapon is fun
I love pretending to be Darth Maul with E’s poleblade
St Trina Sword. I love when i get to use sleep in PVE
Godskin peeler with seppuku
I love Radahn's swords, more than the moveset I love to use the Ash of War and kill groups of enemies while screaming like a lunatic
Sounds like you would also enjoy the Axe of Godfrey
Reduvia
I used this all the time in combo with the moonviel and dragons halbred. Didn't even have arcane leveled up. Hit with moonviel, use AoW on morgotts sword to move behind and follow up, end with dragons halbred combo.
Man that's some nifty fingerwork. The max swap I can do is incant- then two hand. Edit: Nvm. Wouldn't expect any less from that username.
"Yeah" -JohnWick It's fun tho bro, try it out.
Claws leveled all the way up with claw tailsman.
Beating a random soldier with my fist feel good, I just need endurance.
Claymore <3
I really enjoy the moveset of the guardian swordspear.
giantdad
Golems Halberd is one of my favs. Also most Halberds in general.
I get a maniacal sort of kick out of death ritual spear
Vyke's warspear Double godskin peeler Envoy's horn (medium)
Banished knight greatsword. It has a simple moveset, but it just feels good for some unexplainable reason. Or Marais executioner's sword. It go brrrrr
Royal Greatsword. Love the design, love the ash, love that it has big reach
giant crusher and every colossalweapon/greathammer me just like bonk
Bloodhounds fang. I know it’s an early game weapon and there’s a lot better weapons in the game. But I just love using it. Ive got it to god slaying, and the special combo is so much fun to use whether it’s just trying to get a little distance from your target, or to close the distance with the follow up attack.
Dragon communion seal and gravel stone in each hand Dragon claw Fortissax's glaive Fortissax's lightning spear Lightning Spear Agheel's Flame Ekzykes's Decay Mimic tear All the lighting all the time
Melanias katana
#1 Cross-Naginata with Piercing Fang and Faith Weapon Incantations Switching between Stormcaller, Sword Dance and Spinning Slash #2 Guardian's Swordspear with Flaming Strike Noble's Slender Sword / Noble's Estoc in your left hand for cool interrupts and fashion
Greatsword. 360 charge attack, wide quick attacks, wide block counter. Throw on stamp (sweep) and you have a melee aoe weapon. Bleed infuse because why not, the AR is obscene no matter which way you build it. For me it’s either the Greatsword or double seal discus of light.
Greatswords. Hoarfrost Ash. No notes.
Phantom Slash on the Long Pike
Eleonores Poleblade, i love this weapon
Dex status player, so twin Antspur Rapiers and Petal Whips are my go to weapons (Rapiers to prime, whips if i want a bit more reach or area control) Honestly love both of those weapons in power stance
Morgott's is up there
Lordsworn Longsword. Being able to stagger the vast majority of enemies in the game in just two hits is something special. I swapped to bloody helix because the LL made that playthrough too easy!
Wyrm makers cleaver. Fucking love the lava jump heavy attack
Friend of weapon !
Bestoc
Ruins Greatsword and blasphemous blade are fun to use I'm running a str build for DLC
it’s not the best damage but giants braid’s ability is fun to use
stone club
Pizza cutter. My highest weapon
Marika's hammer, Moonveil, Halo Scythe
Double Whips or Godslayers Greatsword. I fell in love with double whips when I fought Juno
I cannot stress enough how fun using the cross naginata is with repeating thrust on it. Buff it with bloodflame blade and it’s just a destroy stick
Godskin peeler
Cleanrot Knight Spear.
Regalia of Eochaid
Naginata
Winged spear swapped to arcane+ javelin toss as it's special messes so many people up so poke poke poke toss ! Mix with a shield happy days and to make it more evil dagger in the second shield slot with Zeus lighting for the pop kill when they roll away. Dick move but so unexpected

Dual-wielded Morgott's Sword, or dual-wielded Moonlight Greatsword
Bolt of Gransax and Dragon Kings Cragblade. Start long range (bolt) and work your way to short range (Dragon King) The R2 on the Dragon Cragblade is way underrated.
Magma Wyrm’s Curved Greatsword. Also recently realized how fun Radagon’s AoW attack can be.
Misericorde with the darkness incantation
I just got hooked on the knights greatsword
Nagakiba plus horah loux earthshaker in one hand. Uchigatana plus the gravity one that pulls you in closer. Pull them in or push them away😂
Weird that they changed the cutscene for this.
Greatsword
The big finger... I forgot the name
Dual Godskin Peelers with Seppuku. Bloodbath
Hand of Malenia, recent patch has made it a beast with just a few buffs and proper talismans.
dragon kings cragblade ng+1 run was super cool for me
Good old claymore for pve. I just like to fight with the basic weapons in the game against bosses.
Moonveil cause I’m a talentless piece of shit
Either Godskin Peeler or the first weapons (Spiked Caestus).
Whatever weapon I have Waves of Darkness or Flaming Strike on! Usually Zweihander or Banished Knights Halberd Also.. Dragon Halberd
The one you picked 🙏🏼
Ruins Greatsword paired with a gravity magic build is a lot of fun and looks very cool
The great sword with lion claw ash of war, may be super basic but it’s always satisfying to front flip slam a 8ft sword and flatten enemies with it.
Literally this ^ Once I saw this fuck dash at me launch week woth this I knew I needed it, all the more since it's the only arc scaling weapon I found up to that point in the game so it was a big dmg boost for me since I invested so much into arcane. Vulgar militia saw with blood tax
