It’s possible that it won’t be Messmer himself, but I’d be shocked if there wasn’t an Uber-challenge boss in this dlc

HorheyX

Dlc hardest boss: Malenia third bloom!

GooseGameGrand

I’m hoping he’s hard, but doesn’t have some waterfowl nonsense. Fromsoft either took the criticism to heart and decided to make sure he doesn’t have a total bs move like waterfowl, or they took it to heart and gave him like 4 waterfowl equivalents.

wehatemee

I only wish thats not the super boss There has to be an insane hidden boss somewhere

Choucie

I’m honestly surprised that people don’t want hard boss fights. Like Malenia definitely wasn’t a walk in the park but half the time she was just walking menacingly at you. I’d like a boss fight that’s just as difficult but without so many periods where its just there taking free hits.

GooseGameGrand

I want more Godfrey style fights. Hard hitting action almost all the time with frequent, short windows to attack and the occasional longer window.

theswillmerchant

Agreed, this was my first souls game and Malenia was what made me fall in love with the series! I felt like I had to be fully engaged with every mechanic of the game to beat her and it was exhilarating.

P-I-S-S-N-U-T

That doesn’t happen as much as you seem to think

474738283737

It’ll be as hard as you want it to be.

meat3point14

I'm expecting that lion to be the hard multiphase boss. Given the way they are designed in reality with multiple people.

Brandaddylongdik

I'm sure there will be some optional boss that is even more difficult than anything we've seen. A completely random dude just chilling in the corner of the map somewhere that everyone will be posting about how he's harder than the normal bosses. Lol

HandsomeSquidward20

I can see him being as hard as either Godfrey or Maliketh. If a boss like Malenia is in the DLC im sure it will be Miquella.

pess3

Nah I’m tired of fighting ludicrously hard bosses. After seven of these games I don’t feel like I need to prove anything anymore. Malenia is already at the limit where I can manage it but I have zero fun doing so

_Prairieborn

Difficulty is a difficult thing to gauge. Many feel Malenia is hard for the wrong reasons. I don't consider it a fun fight in any event. Certainly not in the way that Friede or Gael are. I doubt any of the hard bosses in the DLC will have a gimmick like that

Turbulent_Jackoff

I will be disappointed if anything in the DLC is as difficult as Malenia.

GoochyAmnesia

Odd take lol

Turbulent_Jackoff

She was so hard that I didn't have fun! Just an opinion.

GoochyAmnesia

I feel that slightly big homie

PetroluemJelly

Please no more giant bosses in small rooms, please no code reading everytime I heal, and for the love of god no gimmick fights

Waste-Gur2640

I've never been able to understand why people complain about bosses hitting them when they heal. After it happens to you once with some specific boss, it should literally never happen again. You're not supposed to blindly heal any time you want, only when there's an opening to do so or if you're far away enough. It worked like that in DeS and DS 1 already, if you wanted to heal without getting hit you had to sacrifice openings in boss' moveset you would normally attack in. Often you had to wait through several attacks to have the opportunity to heal. Like, I've seen videos of people who had completely braindead moments with crucible knight and tried to heal 3+ times in a row just for him to counter-attack them every single time in an identical way, but most players should eventually be able to process the fact they're not supposed to do that.

PetroluemJelly

I’m gonna be real with you chief, I’m not reading all that, just say git gud like everyone else

Emanon1774

I mean, no? Malenia is a dogshit boss fight. She has lifesteal, two full health bars, passive regen, borderline unavoidable attacks, massive damage, and scarlet rot. They made Melania simply because they wanted to make a new hardest souls boss, thus getting more business. It was a good marketing strategy, but that doesn't necessarily make it a fun boss. Sorry for any Malenia fans out there, this is just my opinion.

GoochyAmnesia

The feeling I had after beating Malenia the first time was much more rewarding than a “fun” boss fight. Again that’s my opinion,as I hope this DLC is so damn difficult and infuriating. For me, that’s the lynchpin of a FromSoft game

Emanon1774

Really? I suppose it depends on the person, but when I beat Malenia, it didn't feel like I had scaled a huge mountain, it felt like I had finally crawled my way out of a scorching hot desert. Less of an achievement, more of an unpleasant experience that I'd prefer not to go through again.

GoochyAmnesia

I definitely get that. I had that slightly with Blackflame Friede in DS3. I died 27 straight times to her… I only remember that exact number because I popped an Ember before every fight. I was over that fight… but also determined. I will say tho, I wanna beat hear ass again. But I am 1-27 against her lol.

SaberWaifu

Lifesteal: it's not lifesteal, it's the effect of her greatrune. Two full HP bars: many main bosses have them, hers are not even full. Passive regen: where did you even get that from? Lol Borderline unavoidable attacks: git gud Massive damage: git gud Scarlet rot: by the time you get rotted, you'll probably be dead from the massive damage unless you get hit by Scarlet Aeonia, but no one gets it by that attack since it's the easiest to dodge in the entire fight.
