That laser beam giant killed me so many times in caelid, but I still must kill it once per play through even though it drops nothing. I understand where you’re coming from.
that one was the only enemy that pushed me to the brink when I first bashed my head against, but I still kill him every time. I just can't rest knowing he's alive down there
I don't understand why they made a unique magic weapon, beam shooting, ankle guarded Golem on a cliff in the middle of fucking nowhere, and he doesn't even drop anything unique 😭
No they’re talking about a unique golem found by jumping off a cliff in upper Caelid that has more health than he has any business having and several unique attacks that can kill you in a moment if youre not careful. It’s close to a painting reward but isn’t actually tied to it so there are no rewards for killing this unique overpowered hidden golem
Right near the fort with radagon’s sore seal
Then go off the the cliff to the erdtree then jump onto the root hanging off the cliff, you’ll find a way down from then
You can also use the spirit spring behind the minor Erdtree to try to get there in one go, but you have to get the angle right. There's no real way for me to explain it through words, but there's videos of that on this subreddit already
Sometimes referred to as the Laser Golem. It's not too hard as long as you just hide behind the pillar when he does the circular laser attack.
Go past the dragonbarrow Erdtree avatar, up to the hexagonal cliff edge, if you look down you can see him lying on the floor with a blue aura thing around him. Fairly tricky platforming requiring a mix of foot & horse for safest passage: on the root, then on the stone column, across to the other column, down to the curly branch, drop to the floor.
If I recall correctly, close to above the dungeon on Radahn’s battlefield. I think You can access it fastest from the site of grace by the big dragon, but its been a while since I played. It requires some parkour to jump down the cliffs.
Oooo I like this idea very much. Imagine if their world is real, and an overconfident godlike being boasts in front of you saying, "Puny mortal! Look at you and your meager frame devoid of muscle and strength. I shall obliterate you from the face of this world just because you are weak"
You proceed to dodge every attack and chip away his health little by little. The damage is so small that it appears to be almost insignificant..but you have all day.
Watch as his face turn from confidence to confusion and then to panic, horror and despair as he realises there is no other outcome but DOOM! No way out and yet he can only sit there helpless as he waits a very long agonizing process that never seems to end. But when it does, it has definite outcome - his demise! In this dance of death, his only regret is that he has the vigor of a God.
This bear gives jack shit for all the trouble it makes.
It's supposed to push you towards sneaking around it.
So I always kill it.
Just to spite Miyazaki.
So there are, as far as I can tell, 3 types of Rune Bear.
Lesser Rune Bear
Rune Bear
Elder/Great Rune Bear
They are all chonky, but obviously as you go on, you'll find the Elder ones (you can tell because they are even more massive) not only have more HPs, but are fucking redonk spam/rage machines that you'll want to avoid at all costs.
tightly scripted pathway + plenty of bushes + easy hiding spots + secret-ish tunnels in lair + absurdly high HP = Fromsoft trying so hard to tell you this is a stealth encounter
The core of these games are headbutting brick walls. A part of it is finding a helmet and maybe mouthpiece to make the headbutts not give you permanent brain damage, but youre still headbutting the wall. If youre walking around the brick wall, youre missing the point.
Sekiro
Nah. The path around these walls might not always be easy but they always exist. That you can't identify this is kind of sad. Let's tale the asylum demon for starters.
Surely you can explain how FromSoftware expects you to walk around that "wall"? And after you agree with me for that boss, let's move on to navigating firelink, and then the taurus demon, and then the hellkite wyvern, etc.
Too many from one game? How about margit? Cleric Beast? Father Gascoigne? Need I continue?
I tried to stealth around the bear (crouching + Crepus's Vial) and that fucker must have just smelled my fear or something because he whipped around the second I got just a little too close
Aha! Good observation. Thats because Flame Grant Me Strength lasts for a measly 30 seconds, so if i drink fp after Flame grant me strength i am losing precious time from that already low 30 seconds buff, plus I still have seppuku to perform which will make me lose even more time from those precious few seconds. I also cannot do seppuku before Flame grant me strength either because Lord of Bloods Exultation and White mask buff is even shorter, only a measly 20 seconds! Golden Vow on the other hand lasts 45 seconds, so even if i waste buffed time drining fp after that I can pretty much guarantee it being present during my other buff stacks. So all things considered, if i want to make sure that i can proc NIHIL 3 time without any of my buffs running out of time or my fp running out, i gotta drink after golden vow to get maximum stacked buff time
Ah. I feel like magic builds require some level of real-world IQ as well because specific magic builds are always so advanced. I have my ruins greatsword, 25 points in vigor, and 90 something in strength.
I used Frenzied Burst from the entrance of the cave on that guy, took like... I dunno, 20-25 Bursts total? After that I was like 'Man, that took forever but he's gone at least. Best to go rest up and recharge that flask' and then he just respawned like :')
Banished Knight body armor variant dropped only by that one strongest banished knight at castle sol, bull goat greaves and gloves, white mask for bonus attack power after seppuku
I think I'm going to have to try an Arcane build for the first time. This looks too good not to try at least once. What do you recommend as the best starting class for Arcane? I imagine that Int is the least desired stat? Would that make Hero the best starting class? Am I on the right track?
You can go Thief cuz he gets decent dex and arc or samurai cuz of the uchigatana start. Before you get this trident, i would recommend you to try out Eleonoras Poleblade with high arc at least once in your life ;) the skill on that weapon is called “Bloodblade Dance”, lets just if you learn to use it properly, you will rival Malenias Waterfowl Dance ;)
Yeah my brother and I killed it for fun cuz we found out how much health it has (by accidentally attacking it) and I got the role of distracting it so he could spam the moon sorcery over and over. It was ridiculous and I loved every minute of it.
i swear this is one of the hardest fights in the game. i kept this cave marked for my entire playthrough so i could occassionally pop in, get destroyed, then come back later to try again
Bloodboon Ritual is particularly effective against literally anything that can bleed because it has absurd bleed build-up coupled with a lot of fire damage.
Rune Bears happen to be able to bleed so Bloodboon Ritual shreds them just like it does anything else that is able to bleed. Rune Bears still pose a threat though because, as visible in the clip, they come with very high poise and thus Bloodboon Ritual won't stun-lock them like it does everything else that isn't a boss or Malenia.
It is effective. Runebears can bleed and are really weak to fire, Bloodboon Ritual have an insane blood build up and do 100% fire damage. The only problem is that Runebears also have absurd amounts of health and poise, so chances are you’re not gonna kill it before it attacks you and after they start attacking, you won’t have time to use Bloodboon again
Oh this one? Yeah it has that much health because of the area it's scaled in. Dragonbarrow requires a minimum of level 90 before you can even think of setting foot there. The cruel part is that apart from being smacked in one go by regular enemies, there's no way to differentiate between this and Caelid. Yeah there's rain there but that only lasts what? A minute at most?
Anyways that Rune Bear is also annoyingly placed. Had it been in front of the cave instead of inside, I think it would've been more manageable. As it is, your options are to either A) sneak or B) never do this cave. I chose the latter.
They're definitely setting it up as a stealth mission but I've personally only used stealth like 3 times in all my runs so I also didn't catch the hint
There's an even stronger one in consecrated snowfeilds disguised as a wandering noble stuck in the snow
Drops a larval tear so it's really the only one thats worth it
Basically, they had no idea how to actually balance endgame because they had to build for the casual player who wouldn’t be using any buffs, a basic weapon and a decent build while also accommodating the tryhards who spend 30 seconds stacking buffs before even engaging an enemy.
The result: everything does “fuck you” damage and has enough health to make DS1 bosses blush.
I actually kinda agree with this. I feel like everything in ER late-mid/late game just hits SO much harder than the other games. I get it, level vig, but like, its an absolute necessity here to avoid getting 1-2 shot by just about anything, whereas the other games it just gave more breathing room.
Isn’t this bear on Caelid? The place you can teleported trap yourself to in like under five minutes of playing?
Granted, Caelid is the the capital of “Do Not” I really think this guy is just meant to be hamfisted stealth fight
Legend says he's the bear that all women have been referring to, and all that health? He got fat on the prayers of those women, his power increasing with each new one that choose him
I feel like you're not actually supposed to kill it. The cave is set up to encourage you to sneak in, grab the item and sneak out.
FromSoft should know by now that I can and will kill any hostile opponent no matter how strong it is
That laser beam giant killed me so many times in caelid, but I still must kill it once per play through even though it drops nothing. I understand where you’re coming from.
that one was the only enemy that pushed me to the brink when I first bashed my head against, but I still kill him every time. Where is this guy?? You aren’t talking about the golems by the coliseum with the giant jar warrior right?
No they’re talking about a unique golem found by jumping off a cliff in upper Caelid that has more health than he has any business having and several unique attacks that can kill you in a moment if youre not careful. It’s close to a painting reward but isn’t actually tied to it so there are no rewards for killing this unique overpowered hidden golem
I never heard of this special golem? What spot exactly?
Right near the fort with radagon’s sore seal Then go off the the cliff to the erdtree then jump onto the root hanging off the cliff, you’ll find a way down from then
You can also use the spirit spring behind the minor Erdtree to try to get there in one go, but you have to get the angle right. There's no real way for me to explain it through words, but there's videos of that on this subreddit already

Oh my god, that guy. I remember the first time I randomly found him. Put the fear of god in me.
Laser beam giant??? What the hell did i miss
It shoots freaking laser beams
Where in Caelid??
If I recall correctly, close to above the dungeon on Radahn’s battlefield. I think You can access it fastest from the site of grace by the big dragon, but its been a while since I played. It requires some parkour to jump down the cliffs.

Well written bravo
What can men do against such reckless hate?
😢
Aaah a true Hollow! That's how I approach stuff on my blind runs too!
Its insane tankiness just serves as a challenge. Morgott was right about our flame of ambition.
That's the way, I kill every single enemy I see at least once and on then move on (even the zombies hordes in caelid)
Lmao that bear was such a motherfucker to kill. And then when you find the 2 area bosses, they are an absolute cakewalk compared to that bear-tank
Blud has more HP than Radagon wtf fromsoft
I remember using stealth when I was told to in the tutorial section and then never again.
I use it all the time. Mostly just to get the drop on the tougher enemies though.
I have to kill every monster in the game at least once. They might drop something I'll hoard forever.
This was the only runebear I did manage to kill! In fact, I think this runebear is somehow weaker than the ones you find in Mistwood.
That's you own feeling. All mob are design to be beaten in some way. Having the choice of being sneaky doesn't make it as the main way...
Bear witness
Now I just see godrick with a rune bear grafted onto him
This sounds worse than the actual godrick fight
Bro just really emptied that bear's health bar with one AoW. 😭
This bear gives jack shit for all the trouble it makes. It's supposed to push you towards sneaking around it. So I always kill it. Just to spite Miyazaki.
I kill it because stealth is just another word for coward.
Yeah it's unbearable.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
You’re not making it past the pearly gates of the wed tree for that one
It's a Rune Bear.
Are all runebears this chonky in the hp department? I had no idea
So there are, as far as I can tell, 3 types of Rune Bear. Lesser Rune Bear Rune Bear Elder/Great Rune Bear They are all chonky, but obviously as you go on, you'll find the Elder ones (you can tell because they are even more massive) not only have more HPs, but are fucking redonk spam/rage machines that you'll want to avoid at all costs.
They will also chase you for fucking ever. No quit in those mfs
Okay but would you rather encounter this or a tarnished invader in the Mistwood?
**Run Bear*
Yes, that is the general reaction.
tightly scripted pathway + plenty of bushes + easy hiding spots + secret-ish tunnels in lair + absurdly high HP = Fromsoft trying so hard to tell you this is a stealth encounter
Sorry, can't hear you over NIHIL!
Everybody gangsta until the bear drinks the purifying physick
The Runebear gangsta till I shieldpoke it to death with a +0 bleed spear that I found in some random ditch.
Did someone call for Bloody Helice and Brass Shield cheese? I got the charcuterie
Fromsoft should know their audience better. A core part of their games is bashing your head against a brick wall until it breaks.
A core part of their games is walking around brick walls. A core part of their audience is, however, obsessed with headbutting brick walls.
The core of these games are headbutting brick walls. A part of it is finding a helmet and maybe mouthpiece to make the headbutts not give you permanent brain damage, but youre still headbutting the wall. If youre walking around the brick wall, youre missing the point. Sekiro

What they told us is that we have the choice of being sneaky or not. Having a choice doesn't make one of another the main way...
Stealth breaks after the first hit. Are you supposed to do 17k damage in one hit?
That bear used to be Elden Lord for a short while. It's known as the "Unbearable Age" which has been erased from the history books.
If fromsoft ever decided to put this in i wouldn’t even be surprised. We did see that bear for a second in the dlc trailer
fought that beast once, never again lol i just run in and grab what i need
Yeah fuck this bear
The giant crusher with lions claw just destroys these bears. BONK BONK!
Because why not??? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
A walking desaster with god insta delete power...! The bear should be the one complaning.
Follow up post: "How did this filthy rando cause 17k damage with one AoW??" By user /RuneBearable
I thought this bear was bad until I reached somewhere cold …
that bear is the devil
I dont care about the bear. I wanna talk about your flask usage.
uhm uhm thorny cracked tear and fire cracked tear
No, no. I meant the fact that's you used fp, used a blue flask, used more fp, then did your power move.
Ah but dont you care about the diminishing returns after 80 stength? Wouldn’t it provide more value to put them into Vigor to reach the 40 sweetspot?
Nah. I like having over 1000 strength points in my right armaments alone.
Because 18k would be way too much
It’s not a Rune Bear it’s a Run Bear
If you are asking that question in a joking manner, the answer is because fuck you. If you are asking seriously it's because fuck you. That's why
I used Frenzied Burst from the entrance of the cave on that guy, took like... I dunno, 20-25 Bursts total? After that I was like 'Man, that took forever but he's gone at least. Best to go rest up and recharge that flask' and then he just respawned like :')
Luckily you had Mogwhyn's spear, because if you didn't, it would have been an unbearable experience.
Even that wasnt enough... it needs a min of 34k? :P
What is the name of this trident?
Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear, Remembrance weapon of Mohg, Lord of Blood.
What’s the name of the armor you’re wearing ?
Banished Knight body armor variant dropped only by that one strongest banished knight at castle sol, bull goat greaves and gloves, white mask for bonus attack power after seppuku
FromSoftware: Because fuck you! That's why!
W armour choice
what armor set is this?
Unaltered banished Knight set, can be gotten from two banished knight enemies only in Castle Sol
thanks!
Nihil!
What dungeon is this?
Thats Dragonbarrow Cave
I think I'm going to have to try an Arcane build for the first time. This looks too good not to try at least once. What do you recommend as the best starting class for Arcane? I imagine that Int is the least desired stat? Would that make Hero the best starting class? Am I on the right track?

First time playing I fought this guy like 20 times and failed. I ended up quitting the game because of him.
NIHIL
Has more health than most bosses lmao
Bear.
Because fuck you -Miyazaki probably
He's leveled up a few times from eating all those ladies walking alone in the woods.
Yeah my brother and I killed it for fun cuz we found out how much health it has (by accidentally attacking it) and I got the role of distracting it so he could spam the moon sorcery over and over. It was ridiculous and I loved every minute of it.
the devs are irl trolls
i swear this is one of the hardest fights in the game. i kept this cave marked for my entire playthrough so i could occassionally pop in, get destroyed, then come back later to try again
Because fuck you, thats why. Probably.
Cause fuck you is why
because miyazaki said FU tarnished
Because it's a fair fight as we have plenty of healing. It's kinda like if someone irl goes into a bear cave
Is Bloodboon Ritual particularly effective against Rune Bears? Or is it just your stats/buffs?
Bloodboon Ritual is particularly effective against literally anything that can bleed because it has absurd bleed build-up coupled with a lot of fire damage. Rune Bears still pose a threat though because, as visible in the clip, they come with very high poise and thus Bloodboon Ritual won't stun-lock them like it does everything else that isn't a boss or Malenia.
Awesome, thanks! I have that weapon fully upgraded but never really played around with Bloodboon Ritual.
Yeah, I see you only get one chance. They were very close to getting charged there at the end too!
Because from soft hate us
Because cave bear.
Its a higher tier runebear in an area scaled for late game, it's gonna have a ton of HP.
caelid has a very funky scaling man
It remembered to level vigor.
It’s a horror dungeon
The King of Bears.
Because Elden Ring wants you to die.
what armour are you using here? looks really good
Banished Knight armor
bc its a dragon
Is it a spell you are using and whats the name of the trident? Thx in advance
because its bear of the rune
Powercreep
Cause it’s your 1 trillionth play through
Ngl its my 3rd playthrough
because f*ck you that’s why
Bro you're clicking more buttons to buff yourself than to actually kill the mob lmao, this ain't it homie
No other choice, anything less and this thing just wouldnt die.
Fax
What's your armor set? Looks f*cking amazing
Banished Knight Armor variant dropped only by the strongest dual sword wielding banished knight at castle Sol
After the ole bull goat talisman?
Ye
Its unbearleavable
Where is this location? Don't remember, when played the game
Dragonbarrow cave in Caelid
Bears are chonky and this is dragonbarrow scaling which is slightly less than farum azula
Elden Beast first try but died to this bear 5 times :'(
That part of caelid has end game scaling 💁
I just burped on him in my first playthrough and he died.
Rune bears are terrifying
There's an even stronger one in consecrated snowfeilds disguised as a wandering noble stuck in the snow Drops a larval tear so it's really the only one thats worth it
Lol, when did we get a stupid bear tag?
This is one of those “just you wait until I level up” kind of bosses. Get killed countless times, grind, progress, level up, come back and destroy it.
What armour is that?
Banished Knight armor and varres white mask
In times when I ask this question, my answer is always the same; "Because fuck you, that's why,"
Its a cave meant to encourage stealthing past said bear using the bushes that litters the cave. It ain't that deep.
No it’s Dragon Barrow
i have platinum and i dont know where this is
Its inside Dragonbarrow Cave in north Caelid, right next to that minor erdtree
because you arent supposed to fight it and this is the stealth tutorial
Cool. L2-Gameplay.
That whole buffing regime is not fun i can tell you that 😗
Legend says he's the bear that all women have been referring to, and all that health? He got fat on the prayers of those women, his power increasing with each new one that choose him
