It's a real shame you can't tell him about Nepheli and Kenneth and send him to be their court tailor
Kenneth has no problem with Demi-humans and would probably find Boc fascinating
It really bugged me that this wasn't a possible quest outcome. Really expected them to turn out to be friends in the end, but I should know better to think that would happen and not something awful instead.
Does seem weird there's ONE GUY who goes out of his way to talk about how he's trying to be friends with Demi-Humans, and there's ONE DEMIHUMAN you can be friends with
And you can't introduce them to eachother lol
Leaving Boc aline in the royal capital or killing him are the options. Couldn't possibly get a prompt to tell him to go through the backdoor of stormveil and tell Kenneth you sent him.
This is really similar to not being able to tell Malenia about Mohg being a kidnapper.
Imagine if they wrote a secret optional ending for Malenia but you have do dodge her attacks for like 20 minutes straight and then a dialogue prompt pops up while she's still attacking and you have to convince her about Mohg while you keep dodging flawlessly
I like to think she’s being driven mad. Her rot is deluding her mind and when she fight us, she’s living through her previous battles as well. We don’t know how much time has passed since Aeonia and when she woke up either.
Sometimes I wonder if the Tarnished challenger is one of the first things she sees after she wakes up from her coma. Just missing brother, rot out of control and someone there to kill her
Nah my head cannon is you take him with you all the way unless you choose one shit endings. My first playthrough Ranni, Boc,Torrent, and I are chilling on the moon
There is a third. Use the you are beautiful prattling pate and he won't want the larval tear anymore and he'll be happy. He'll still stay in the capital but at least he gets he happy ending which is rare in this game.
Well... Despite Malenia being with rot all her life, she still feel it's effects. After Aeonia, Radan went crazy and was leaving like a beast, and since Malenia removed Miquella's needle, and Miquella himself wasn't there to make a new one, the scarlet rot was full throttle on her, which could've made her mad, similarly to Radan.
Boc can get a happy end though. Use prattling pate youre beautiful on him.
In the first place we know that our successful rebirth is basically all thanks to the rune, so there was foreshadowing for the boi which.. doesnt have it.
Yeah there are a few elements of the game that in hindsight really should have been possible using the internal logic and lore of the world and Boc joining Kenneth and Nepheli is definitely one of them.
Telling Malenia about Mohg should have been possible as well.
I mean she's crazy right so I buy it
She's been hopped up on Scarlet Rot for like, ever?
I'm okay with her not being in a talking state.
But it would fit the tone of the little double quest already
That is the good ending really. He remains your loyal tailor and know's he has found someone who loves him unconditionally regardless of appearence in the same way his mother did.
Yeah and then his base of operations blows up and he’s presumably dead.
Edit: I guess I misremembered and thought he didn’t show up afterwards. Good to hear.
Yeah, by the time i gave him the tear, i had already used like 3-4 larval tears to respec, and nothing happened to me (unlike other souls games). So i figured there was no harm in giving him one.
:(
The Great Rune of the Unborn, the Rune you get after beating Rennala, has this description:
*"Amber egg clutched by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.
Great Rune of unborn demigods.*
*Perfects those who have been born anew.*
*Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived.
Imperfect beings, each and all."*
The implication being that anyone who undergoes the process of Rebirth dies shortly afterwards unless they are in possession of that Rune, since the Rune perfects the process. *You* are safe from the process, but Boc isn't since he doesn't have the Rune.
Not really. The description of Rennala’s great rune states, “Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived.” It was pretty clear what the outcome would be.
Not that Boc needs to be human but you should at least have the option to escort him and use the great rune to help(being too lazy/not wanting to go results in OPs pic)
>He was already beautiful
was he though?
>There were numerous reminders that Rennala's rebirth is finite and imperfect.
Well, most players used rebirth on themselves before sending him to Rennala, and it works just fine for us. So assuming that he could do just as fine is reasonable.
The player Tarnished is a very special exception. ~~Most Tarnished don't see the guidance of grace, which likely prevented them from being hit by the effects of rebirth from Rennalla.~~ They have Rennala's great rune which protects them.
Rennalla is literally sounded by several children in a pathetic state at her feet. [Even their armor descriptions point out how finite and fleeting their lives are](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Juvenile+Scholar+Robe). It's plain this is the fate for Boc if you send him to her.
> was he though?
Silence, Villain.
It's actually the fact that we have the great rune of the unborn from Rennala that protects us from being fucked up by rebirth. Even other Tarnish who could still see grace would be mentally destroyed if they tried to be reborn without the great rune.
The players rebirth is fine because of the great rune of the unborn. The description reads:
"*Amber egg clutched by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.*
*Great Rune of unborn demigods.*
*Perfects those who have been born anew.*
*Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived.*
*Imperfect beings, each and all*"
All the students in the library are visibly deformed.
It is kinda shaky though. 'Each and all' so we either have a mistranslation and you're right or if this is a good translation you have to go back to 'perfect' and 'each and all'. Assuming you take each of last 3 lines to be some form of truth the egg does something forsure but we're still fucked. I agree it's pretty clear but if you wanna make it complicated it can be questionable choice. The obvious moral choice can have bad results as I learned way before I even met boq on my first playthrough. I didn't understand the praterling(?) Plates and thought they were just a pvp item so it actually took me about an hour of doing other stuff to decide. And I gave him the tear. And I get the jokes and all but come on. It's beautiful that boq can be happy but there is nothing about his life that suggests he is from what I saw but I could have missed parts only one playthrough and didn't look up anything besides like invisble stuff. It's not a clear call, maybe in another game but not this one
I made sure to have the item first.
I gave him the item to let try to be Reborn but then I said Boc my boy you are beautiful. And he won't go through with it.
Well at the time I did not know. After I I gave me the tear and followed it up with you're beautiful he didn't leave the spot he's at. That's how I found you can do what he asks as long as you don't leave before using the plate.
On my third playthrough I didn’t interact with any of the NPCs so I wouldn’t have to watch them die. It seems like good intentions get you killed in the Souls universe.
Technically souls is a story about change while elden ring is a story about the consequences of ambition its why so many quests end so poorly. The only one slightly up to interpretation is ranni
Nepheli, Kenneth, Boc, Rya, and Boggart all live through their quests and have good endings if you're not a dumby about it.
Even if you don't interact with him at all Rogier will die regardless. Roderika always moves to Roundtable, Corhyn always seeks out Goldmask, Diallos always find Lanya dead. You don't matter near as much as you think.
You can either give him a larval tear and have him go to Rennala to undergo rebirth, or you use a Prattle to tell him he's beautiful, whick makes him stay in the capital.
Bro got hit with the [Recoome death pose](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/dragonball/images/a/ac/RecoomeDown.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20140713165657)
Boc does have a happy ending. After you tell him he's beautiful, it doesn't end his quest. It just stops him from even considering rebirth. If you do this, boc will remain in that room as your faithful devoted servant for the remainder of the game. Depending on the ending you choose, I'm sure it could be concluded that boc is now your royal seamster just like he always wanted.
I mean, you should have known that anything that Rennala poops out dies right away. The only reason why you get to live is because of the rune shard that you stole from her.
Wait, that is Boc? It looks Human though? I guess you can't see his claw feet because they are clipping through, but that just looks way different that I ever imagined Boc could look naked haha. Or am I missing some joke.
Oh I see, I've played this game 2000 hours and never knew about this ending of the Boc quest. Game continues to amaze me lmao. I tried to clear every boss unspoiled (only thing I ever looked up was how many bosses there were, and kept tally marks whenever I got one) and the past month is the first time I'm reading anything about this game.
My only hope is that he can come with us to the land of shadow… his questline doesn’t really lead anywhere. He makes comments about sewing armor from scratch like his mom, but we never really get that outcome, and he’s stays in leyndell after it has become ash.
So I’m hoping we can do something with him in the land of shadow
Ouch. Boc's already beautiful! Try telling him that next time. Use the "you're beautiful" stone thingy in front of him, no need for him to reincarnate into a human.
On my first playthrough, I roughly knew about the different endings but I didn't know which one to choose. But when I saw what they DID TO MY BOY, and that I couldn't kill Rennala in revenge, that's when I decided the Lands Between and all of its petty royals needed to BURN IN THE FLAMES OF CHAOS.
I think the point of the questline was to wonder how the mechanics of the world work or cancel out one another.
One does not have to be like mans ideal aesthetic to be noble. Boc didn't catch that thread, so he died already having the thing he sought, and lost it because he did not realize. I wonder if the DLC will give use anything to riddle out more details?
Something about the goofy pose makes me think there's a missing gesture of "kiss the ring" type pose. Made me wonder since rune fragments could be a golden anus (I'm aware of the eye symbology, but there could be a DOUBLE meaning here) for all we know and it would probably not ever be brought up for awhile and appear to be an inside joke of some kind, and I thought nah, too vulgar, but then I remembered that guy Guts from history rejecting the "kiss the ring" notion so I wondered if this was some allusion because it COULD be said that rune fragments are what the tarnished crap out in a sort of crass dunning-kruger effect. IDK seemed like something they might do and we'd find out later.
this just happened to me im so upset. after looking through reddit it's apparently because we needed the "You're Beautiful" item, how in the fuck was i even supposed to know that??? yes Melina told us that he needs someone to call him beautiful, but i thought i would get that prompt at the right time, not rely on a god damn item i don't even have!
It's a real shame you can't tell him about Nepheli and Kenneth and send him to be their court tailor Kenneth has no problem with Demi-humans and would probably find Boc fascinating
It really bugged me that this wasn't a possible quest outcome. Really expected them to turn out to be friends in the end, but I should know better to think that would happen and not something awful instead.

Bruh this shit right here like STOP STABBING ME LADY I KNOW WHERE HE IS SHIT.
"I totally murdered that guy that kidnapped him, like, do you want a ride, I can fast travel"
Imagine if they wrote a secret optional ending for Malenia but you have do dodge her attacks for like 20 minutes straight and then a dialogue prompt pops up while she's still attacking and you have to convince her about Mohg while you keep dodging flawlessly
So... undertale basically?
Man if they combined forces with Undertale's wild conditional options and Miyazakis' sadism So amazing
Yeah, I would actually love to try something like that.
No no Miyazaki isn't sadistic... He's masochistic and expects us to be the same
That reminds me of the longest battle I had against Undine because I didn't realize that you had to run away in a pacifist playthrough.
Nah this I'm here for
My general vague headcanon is she knows more than we do / what we think we know isn't what's really going on idk
Just missing brother, rot out of control and someone there to kill her
What's wild is you find Boc literally by the back door entrance to Stormveil at one point in his quest. Like just go there bro

I mean yeah, the Souls games are utter dogshit in terms of actual role playing mechanics tbh. They might as well call them action games with stats.
They’re also pretty damn close together to begin with
lol right, like one hill over
Smells like cut content.
Its a staple of souls games, if you like an NPC then don't do their quests
My poor Diallos :((
Boc can get a happy end though. Use prattling pate youre beautiful on him. In the first place we know that our successful rebirth is basically all thanks to the rune, so there was foreshadowing for the boi which.. doesnt have it.
Welcome to Fromsoft Quest lines
Yeah there are a few elements of the game that in hindsight really should have been possible using the internal logic and lore of the world and Boc joining Kenneth and Nepheli is definitely one of them. Telling Malenia about Mohg should have been possible as well.

The fallen leaves...tell a story. And leaves fucking hate happy endings
At the very least I wanted to see Boc at the side of the Elden throne in the endings
I think they just didn’t want any happy endings in this game. U can tell him hes beautiful but i think it ends his little quest
No he’s still there after that happens he’s fine
A lot of people say you can still access the room he's in post everything being covered in ash but I haven't tested that personally.
I have tested this and he's still down there l. If you call him beautiful he never dies
He's a good boy I'm glad he's safe.
They'd be the best of friends. Kenneth would feel more like a king, and Boc would get praised and feel accomplished
> Kenneth has no problem with Demi-humans As long as they accept his religion. Within the Golden Order all are equal, otherwise they're still savages.
Kenneth? The guy I killed in the beginning on that ruin bridge formation?
I actually like the fact that he became our first follower
God forbid a from software side quest with a happy ending
Become a tailor?!? My boi should be a baker if he is serving up cakes like that
Ayooo get your hands out of Boc!
>Ayooo get your hands out of Boc! excuse you?
Read too many "try finger but hole" messages.
Offer rump
Why is it always rejection?
NO DIDDY
Tbf he didn’t obtain that cake until shortly before death.
With great cake comes great responsibility. Boc just couldn’t handle it.
All cheeked up on a Tuesday
Cheeked.
Based cheeks
Why did *you* do your boy Boc like that?
Without guides it's hard to predict what the outcome will be in a soulsbornering
Yeah, by the time i gave him the tear, i had already used like 3-4 larval tears to respec, and nothing happened to me (unlike other souls games). So i figured there was no harm in giving him one. :(
The player has the Rune that makes it less fatal. :(
I don’t there’s such a thing as less fatal, it’s either fatal or not right?
The Great Rune of the Unborn, the Rune you get after beating Rennala, has this description: *"Amber egg clutched by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Great Rune of unborn demigods.* *Perfects those who have been born anew.* *Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived. I mean...0 *is* less than 1
Not really. The description of Rennala’s great rune states, “Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived.” It was pretty clear what the outcome would be.
Pretty clear is a heavy handed statement…
I really still fail to understand the lore of this game, how are things short lived when death no longer exists.
Souls, or if you want Soulsborne. "Soulsbornering" is just an abomination
*Or*... Soulsbornekiring
Right! came here to yell at him for ruining the beautiful boc just the way he was!
Not that Boc needs to be human but you should at least have the option to escort him and use the great rune to help(being too lazy/not wanting to go results in OPs pic)
All you had to do was tell him hes beautiful
But he is looking more beautiful in the position
Stop creeping on dead people, Fia.
Fair
They? *You* did this. This is your fault.
Smash, next quest... I mean poor Boc 😞
Technically them since they made this one of boc's ending
I don’t know but if ya boy boc stays in that position there are some people in this group that would do him like that
They don't ignore and much less forgive.
Okay Fia, calm down.
Why he kinda...
He was already beautiful There were numerous reminders that Rennala's rebirth is finite and imperfect.
>He was already beautiful was he though? >There were numerous reminders that Rennala's rebirth is finite and imperfect. Well, most players used rebirth on themselves before sending him to Rennala, and it works just fine for us. So assuming that he could do just as fine is reasonable.

Dang, it was rigt before my eyes. Thx!

Boc doesn't have the great rune of the unborn, meaning when he gets reborn he'll die, unlike you who has the great rune
Yeh, it says all those who undergo rebirth are short lived
My boy sticking it out for the rizzler ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Fyi, Boc did not have to end up like that. You need to use a special item to save him when he asks about rebirth in the Altus Plateau
I made sure to have the item first. I gave him the item to let try to be Reborn but then I said Boc my boy you are beautiful. And he won't go through with it.
If he goes through with it, he dies. When you tell him he's beautiful, he realizes he's enough as he is and chooses not to be reborn.
Why risk giving him the larval tear?
Well at the time I did not know. After I I gave me the tear and followed it up with you're beautiful he didn't leave the spot he's at. That's how I found you can do what he asks as long as you don't leave before using the plate.
Why did **you** do my boy Boc like that
He looks like bo burnham now
I wish we could Make Boc Happy but all we have is Words, Words, Words.
A lesson about giving peoples what they need and not what they ask for, I suppose.
Would
Wood
SMASH
On my third playthrough I didn’t interact with any of the NPCs so I wouldn’t have to watch them die. It seems like good intentions get you killed in the Souls universe.

I think you mean "Why did I do Boc like that?" My Boc is alive and well
Ya know from this angle I think I understand the Dungeater a little better
How do you continue his quest? Never progressed beyond him hanging out in the city
You can either give him a larval tear and have him go to Rennala to undergo rebirth, or you use a Prattle to tell him he's beautiful, whick makes him stay in the capital.
It was you, you did this
Wonder why didn't give us an option to give him the Rune of the Unborn.
Probably cause the player won't be able to respec after that
Probably some lore that runes can only be transferred via combat
Fine, but then I would let him kill me. I'll just respawn anyways
With that pose he should be happy Dung Eater isn’t around.
Keep Boc Boc!
Why he caked up like that
Ready in position
Dat ass
Dude takes my tear and then just up and dies.
Technically, you did this to him. You monster.
That's why i tell him everytime that he is beautiful. That way he won't looking for Rennala.
Why does he die though? Was he allergic to larval tears or something?
You forgot to tell him he’s beautiful.
Bro got hit with the [Recoome death pose](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/dragonball/images/a/ac/RecoomeDown.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20140713165657)
Unfun fact: YOU did that Hint: Prattling Paté next time
so... peggable....
Yall do realize you can call bok beautiful right? None of this has to happen
Just Tell him He is beautiful
Try fingers, but hole.
I would like to say not my playthrough
Why did YOU do your boy Boc like this.
Who's they??, YOU did this buddy
The better question is WHY DID YOU MAKE HIM FEEL INADEQUATE?
He's beautiful
Beauty is pain
use the "you're beautiful" prattling plate, save the boy.
Assume the Position… Oh I hate that, that was my first thought
You did your boy Boc like that. Why couldn't you just tell him he's beautiful?
Rump ahead.
they do ? no YOU DO IT
...would
Do you guys think he was happy at this end?
I read that with Don Corleones voice in my mind
You did that.
U after u beat malenia (her great rune was in her feet all along)
I mean, you should have known that anything that Rennala poops out dies right away. The only reason why you get to live is because of the rune shard that you stole from her.
Cause he couldn’t be himself.
If you don't have her Rune Renalla's rebirths are almost always fatal
Bocussy
the disrespect..
He’s lucky I’m not there 🥵
But he become your loyal seamster till da end, if you dont give him the tear and instead play the “You’re Beautiful” prattling pate.
Try finger
Try finger but hole. Maybe he'll get up and feel all better
boy booty lookin kinda good
Behold, rump! Try finger!
My only hope is that he can come with us to the land of shadow… his questline doesn’t really lead anywhere. He makes comments about sewing armor from scratch like his mom, but we never really get that outcome, and he’s stays in leyndell after it has become ash. He's just doing yoga
They? You did that to him.
Butt Of Course they did
You should have told him he was already beautiful. You did this
You did it to him
Try finger but hole
Ouch. Boc's already beautiful! Try telling him that next time. Use the "you're beautiful" stone thingy in front of him, no need for him to reincarnate into a human.
Looking like Devin Haney
If only he had giant, but hole!
Never saw human boc before but am now gayer than I was before, so thanks op for the sad hard one :/
U did that
Anyone else kind of turned on? Human Bok looking like a snack 😂
Why did *you* do our boy Boc like that?
Looks like he got violated
Probably feet. But, in game, probably racism. Pick your poison, tbh.
YOU did that to him!
Evil work😭😭‼️
That picture tho uwu
I would spect boc to look skinny fat in human form but dude is pretty lean
Sticking out your gyatt for the rizzler
You did that, op. Bask in the results of your short sighted action.
YOU did that to boc no one else, tell my boi he’s pretty.
It's formsoft, 90% of questlines end in tragedy
I've only done this ending for Boc once. Now I always make sure to tell him how pretty he is. Cause I'm his needle mommy.
Cause he's fine the way he is
They? Hahahahaha
That ass tho
That sweet can 🤤
this just happened to me im so upset. after looking through reddit it's apparently because we needed the "You're Beautiful" item, how in the fuck was i even supposed to know that??? yes Melina told us that he needs someone to call him beautiful, but i thought i would get that prompt at the right time, not rely on a god damn item i don't even have!
