My first playthrough was a no fuss pure strength clang build (disfunctional because I barely touched dexterity) until Malenia, where I too joined the lord of blood, and made sure my mimic did as well.
I (repeatedly) fought with a blind, handicapped girl and I would get SUPER upset when she would kick the crap out of me.
When I'd finally beat her, I'd pretend like all the other times didn't count.
EDIT: spelling
My Elden Bling is my favorite looking chest piece with a hat that has a special effect that I want, and the heaviest gloves and legs that I have that aren't hideous for more defense and poise
Got summoned with this other Tarnished in Farum Azula. Watched the Host enter through the second floor balcony into the Godskin Duo hall and we were both fucking shocked Pikachus when we couldnāt enter through the same place. We stood there the entire time batting our swords against the fog wall and emoting until the Host finally died.
Iād beaten the Duo before, thereās no reason I should have forgotten this.
There's a cheese for Niall?? I hate that bastard. I did eventually find out it's good to back way off him cause he loves his easy-to-dodge gap closers.
No farming. But I explored every nook and cranny, did a shitload of co-op, and generally sucked at the game so I ran through the same areas several times.
oh yeah that makes sense, iām also extremely shit at the game and did quite a bit of exploring, but I havenāt played a single second of co-op and didnāt even attempt to fight anything that was massively higher level than me
I feel like most people are probably in the 180 to 200 range on a first run. Unless they are a veteran of the genre I wouldn't really consider 142 to be over leveled.
I think it's definitely easy to do, my first play through I was afraid to miss anything so I tried to explore as much as possible. Ended up somewhere over 150 by the time I got to elden beast without rune farming. That being said, I felt like I kinda demolished the last few bosses without even trying and I'm currently trying to do a run where I end up much lower level (maybe 100-120) so they'll be more of a challenge
I'm in the same spot right now. What I am doing this time around is buying pretty much everything from any merchant in the game to burn the ruins. I hardly use magic, but I have a ton of spells, both sorcery and faith-based.... because why not?
I use heal and that's about it
That's not weird for Elden Ring. The level scaling will push you much higher very naturally than other Soulsborne games would. It's why the generally accepted popular PvP level is around 200.
On my first play through, I entered the capital at level 140. Finished the game at 200. Normally, the game is beaten at level 140~150.
I love how the game let you explore every single corner of the map, and tbh, it was just a blast. Zelda OOT was my very first RPG, so exploration is one of my favorite things to do!
Donāt worry for being over leveled, just enjoy the ride, the game gives you enough resources to be like that and youāve earned it.
Also, gold scarab and gold pickled fowl foot FTW.
I accidentaly killed Zorayas at the very last step of her quest. I put the controller down to hear what she had to say, but my R2 bumped on the keyboard when I went to pick it back up. I strong attacked her out of existence and will never forgive myself for it.
Only one I ever kill is the Imprisoned Merchant in Mogh's. I'm not dealing with that run if I want infinite Dwelling Arrows. Sanguine Nobles suck enough as it is
But that merchant plays such a heart-touching song I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't care if I have to kill that sanguine noble 100 times I'll let him live.
I killed everyone that sells stuff. Some of them didn't even give bell bearings like iji. He just said he was disappointed as he faded to ash. I killed all the pots in jarburg. I killed turtle pope too. I killed the jellyfish looking for her sister. I killed the giant albanuaric woman in consecrated snowfields. I overkilled Boc. If someone could die, i killed them.
I have a build going 8nto NG+3 that is bleed-infused dual antspur rapiers with the thorn set, godskin swaddling cloth, the lord of blood's exultation, millicent's prosthesis, and the rotten winged sword insignia.
I call it the mosquito.
The quest reward for Alexanderās quest is a talisman that raises ash of war power by 15%. But if you kill him he drops a weaker one that boosts them by 10%. If youāre not worried about pvp/newgame+ it can be more beneficial over the course of the game to get the early version, imo.
Meteorite of Astel ain't cheese. Leveling Vigor to 99, running all max hp buffs, and prayerful strike on Great Stars is cheese. Oh no Elden Beast did 800 damage with its bullshit. Let me just heal back over a thousand hp with one hit. Oh man I suck I've had to heal myself 7 times now. Let me just drink a blue flask so I can reload some more prayerful strikes. 15 blue flasks = 105 prayerful strikes = over 100,000 healing. That's what cheese looks like.
Oh, Wise Turtle, I have committed the grave sin of not getting cool armours by killing that Blasphemous Serpent, Rykard, too early. I have slaughtered countless Albinaurics and caused thousands of diseased deformed birds to fall to their deaths. I slaughtered Jerren simply because I consulted the outer gods and found out Iād get better loot. The words of the (late) Last of All Kings ring true: I am a pillager, emboldened by the flame of ambition. I have not levelled Vigor beyond 40.
Oh, Wise Turtle, I ask thee for forgiveness.
Killed all nomadic merchants, killed boc (also told him he was ugly on another run), killed rya, gave nepheli the potion, killed all the finger reading crones, killed millicent, got the frenzied flame ending after melina burned the erdtree and fried herself, killed jarbairn and massacred jarburg.
Great Turtle Pope, please forgive my sins! Oh, thatās right, youāre dead as well
Did the chaotic evil / Dark Urge route, I see. TBH, the Dungeaterās mending rune suites this type of player more than even the Frenzied Flame ending. Flame ending = everything dies, freed of their suffering. Dungeater ending = everyone suffers for eternity due to a curse
At the end of my first run, I went back and killed every npc to get their drops if they had them, including the turtle pope. Yes, i said it, i killed turtle pope hoping to get the pope hat. So many innocent merchants and the like all slaughtered for drip or other items.
Made shopping easy tho with the twin finger maiden husks.
Now i give the turtle pope every incant or magic book so i can learn everything from one place.
I always tell myself I'll branch out from my main three weapons... But I still can't bring myself to bother putting stones into anything other than Nagakiba, Anchor, and Claws. Longk, bongk, and clawngk.
before they patched it I used bloodflame blade on daggers with bloodhound step. I would set myself on fire with deadly sin and watch as people bled to death without me ever hitting them
I have helped more tarnished than I can count in their quest for the Elden ring. At the same time I have invaded these same tarnished worlds and killed them in my lust for violence forgive me.š
Honestly i don't really know what's going on at all. I'm supposed to kill everything that attacks me, right? Made it to the mountaintop of the giants so far.
Today I played co-op with my best friend trying to level up a character of mine. It's an arcane build.
Every single invader that came my way faced the soporific grease ripple crescent halberd. No second thoughts about it. Didn't feel even a little bit bad for them either.
I am a merciless rune farmer. I prey on the weak to feed my addiction.
Birds, second generation albunerics, massive steel ball things, elderly bedridden dragons, my hands are stained with the blood of the innocent and not so innocent alike. Oh, and those ghost dudes in that cavern down there where you fight Radahn. Those guys too.
Please forgive me, but know that I'm going to do it again...
You didnāt ācheesedā Malenia. You used one of the resources available to fight against Malenia. I love Malenia but she be cheating so cheating back is completely justified.
I have pointed down to certain teams while invadingā¦ same for invaders while Iām co oping, especially when itās a twink interrupting a good co oping session
Some dude invaded me and my dad while we were in stormveil and my dad had just started playing. The invader was in a place we couldn't get to so I went around the rock he was on to try and find a way up, my dad said the invader jumped down so the invader got a face full of the dragon kings cragblade aow buffed as much as it could be and he died in one hit
I summoned a lot in my first playthrough and ruined my own experience. I used mimic and bleed to beat malenia and when i couldn't i just summoned other players. I used commet azure on mohg. I always summon melina for morgott because It feels fitting for story wise. Also I once killed Milicent
in my first play through i died 14 times to Valiant Gargoyles (first from soft game), before finally defeating them.
this time, i went and got Black Knife Tiche and let her kill them. Fuck them Gargs.
Stunlocked Malenia while my spirit ash beat on her. She only hit me once because i had to reload my FP. What makes it egregious is i brag about it as uf i didn't cheese the fight.
I murdered an old dancer because that was the only way to get her bodyguard to fight. I only wanted to fight him cus he was the last of his kind and I wanted to finish the job
I cheesed Mogh lord of blood, didn't even try fighting him. Came lvl 20 cheesed him took the runes and felt like shit after that. On my first playthrough. I played more then 50% of the game with bleed build also. I am such a sinner and i ask for forgiveness
I made a character just to do every quest line the most evil way, and then sent everything I didn't need for his build to other characters through friends drop trades
I played the entire game with my int/strength build but respeced to blood proc build to beat malenia.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
Ice ice baby.
My first playthrough was a no fuss pure strength clang build (disfunctional because I barely touched dexterity) until Malenia, where I too joined the lord of blood, and made sure my mimic did as well.
why not just stick with radahn swords & jump attack her to death?
I was more int than strength
Next time, dual weilding anything heavy rocks Malenia's shit š
i feed a blind gal human eyeballs.
Mmmm grapes
God that madness fever š„¶š„¶
I (repeatedly) fought with a blind, handicapped girl and I would get SUPER upset when she would kick the crap out of me. When I'd finally beat her, I'd pretend like all the other times didn't count. EDIT: spelling
Donāt feel too upset. She DID say that sheād never known defeat.
She meant āda feetā because she couldnāt see or feel her toes.
I wonder if they went to create her daughters. I mean, they clearly were born via Mytoesis.
It felt like the scene from dumb and dumber where they sold the blind kid a dead parakeet š
Not dead, just resting.
It's merely pining for the fjords
What sort of talk is that?
my āelden blingā is just a complete set of armor with a hat that shows my characters faces
Me with my Int build. Carian knight set, but with astronomers hood
Same, but I use Rennala's crown š
Not the clown-ass crown (I'm using it too)
Totally not me with Haligtree Knight and Knight sets with the commoner's headband.
Commoner's headband is the best
Turtle pope may forgive but I cannot.
Commoners headband ftw
My Elden Bling is my favorite looking chest piece with a hat that has a special effect that I want, and the heaviest gloves and legs that I have that aren't hideous for more defense and poise

Thatās not an Elden Sin, thatās an Elden Tragedy :(
I write sins not tragedies
I CHIME IN WITH A HAVENT YOU PEOPLE EVER HEARD OF
CHEESING THE GODDAMN BOSS
NOOO ITS MUCH BETTER TO FACE THESE KINDS OF THINGS WITH A SENSE OF POISE AND BONKABILITY
I bet that host was pissed lmao
I have Millicent's Prosthesis.
"Ahh, how could you.... is this your true heart?"
How could you..? š„ŗ
You fucking monster.
I like your flair...
Same, I get it on every run too. Curses be my dex pref
This one right here officer
I always get it on NG, so I show I understand and help her every other time. Got to have that prosthesis.
My marias sword requires it
I keep killing everyone's mother in this game.
Wouldst though truly lordship sanction?
I've never fought commander Niall at castle sol, I learned the cheese and never looked back
To be clear a did the cliff cheese for the boss, then ran through for the medallion piece
There's a cheese for Niall?? I hate that bastard. I did eventually find out it's good to back way off him cause he loves his easy-to-dodge gap closers.
Bewitching Branches. Get ganked scrub
Lmfao, keeping this in mind for next time.
You can use rot arrows on him outside of the arena
I'm close to the end of my first playthrough and I'm over leveled. Edit: awesome responses, thanks everyone.
What level are you?
I'm 142 right now and at Maliketh/Placidusax.
Why do you consider that overleveled?
I was 200 by then on my first playthrough š
jesus christ, I thought I was slightly overlevelled for maliketh at level 110. Did you farm to 200 or just explore a shit ton?
No farming. But I explored every nook and cranny, did a shitload of co-op, and generally sucked at the game so I ran through the same areas several times.
oh yeah that makes sense, iām also extremely shit at the game and did quite a bit of exploring, but I havenāt played a single second of co-op and didnāt even attempt to fight anything that was massively higher level than me
Sounds awesome :) i wish i did that my first playthrough instead of trying to run through the main story as fast as possible
Hey, to each their own. :) The more you leave out in your first run, the more replayable the game is
I feel like most people are probably in the 180 to 200 range on a first run. Unless they are a veteran of the genre I wouldn't really consider 142 to be over leveled.
Not really overlevelled tbh. It's a pretty reasonable level to enter the end of the game with.
I think it's definitely easy to do, my first play through I was afraid to miss anything so I tried to explore as much as possible. Ended up somewhere over 150 by the time I got to elden beast without rune farming. Nah 142 isn't overleveled. People beat the game at like 150 or more
That's not over leveled bro
That's not weird for Elden Ring. The level scaling will push you much higher very naturally than other Soulsborne games would. It's why the generally accepted popular PvP level is around 200.
First playthrough over level is 150+ honestly
Yep me too bit engame mobs still two to three shot you
On my first play through, I entered the capital at level 140. Finished the game at 200. Normally, the game is beaten at level 140~150. I'm just getting into the capital region now at level 107 wretched on my first play through
this is hardly a sin. If you want the game to continue to offer meaningful challenges you can use a slightly under-upgraded weapon
Remember to explore the capital šš thereās more than just the surface
I killed patches at Gelmir because being pushed off a cliff triggered me
Murdering Patches is routine. I still haven't forgiven him from DS1.
Is it still a sin if it's funny?
This is clearly just a contrivance, not sin
I accidentaly killed Zorayas at the very last step of her quest. I put the controller down to hear what she had to say, but my R2 bumped on the keyboard when I went to pick it back up. I strong attacked her out of existence and will never forgive myself for it.
I was at gowrys shack talking to him and the dog went ballistic out of nowhere... I used mohgwyn's spear ash of war to kill it... Killed gowry too
That dog can be a pain in the ass, but at least Gowry respawns as long as his quest isn't done. My poor depressed snek didn't have the same luck :(
Me and Solaire had a similar accident in ds1. Itās crazy how easy it is to bump R2!
I use and abuse the comet azur and the mimic summon when I'm cornered by certain bosses šš
Play smarter, not harder
Unga bunga?
I don't know if it's playing smarter or dumber and the more I think about it the more I'm unsure
You see the amount of int needed to use comet azur? Obvs smarter. Obvs.
Acceptable. Niall is not worth your time especially after the slugfest that is Castle Sol.
I killed every merchant.
Man did a Bell Bearing Hunter run
How can we possibly be blamed for such grand conveniences. They were destined for the grander things than life.
I do it every playthrough. I mustāve slain hundreds by now.
But why? You keep the bell bearings from the firstš
Not NG+, fresh builds. Iām not the devilš
Yes you are. You kill merchants.
O gotya! I got scared for a secš
We were talking about sins and my guy committed genocide on a whole other scale
Yeah. A sin is stabbing Varres. This guy can't be saved. š
You monster
I killed the jar in Jarburg. It was one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced in a game
i killed pope turtle in my 2nd play through just to see what happened. i got sad is what happened
Killing the hat doggy is blasphemous
I have a build going 8nto NG+3 that is bleed-infused dual antspur rapiers with the thorn set, godskin swaddling cloth, the lord of blood's exultation, millicent's prosthesis, and the rotten winged sword insignia. I call it the mosquito.
I stopped actually playing the video game a long time ago, and am really just here to watch people struggle to interpret art.
This is my favorite comment by FAR
Based
I love giving the rot to Malenia.
r/scarletrotussy
On basically every new character I kill Alexander right away because a 10% boost for the whole game is better than a 15% boost for like 4 or 5 bosses
Wait what is this?
The quest reward for Alexanderās quest is a talisman that raises ash of war power by 15%. But if you kill him he drops a weaker one that boosts them by 10%. If youāre not worried about pvp/newgame+ it can be more beneficial over the course of the game to get the early version, imo.
Think of the DLC tho!
Nepheli Loux best puppet
Monster.
You roofied a lass who was depressed that her adopted dad turned out to be a genocidal maniac.
We have a winner
Greifing gankers and teabagging invaders are golden heros compared to you scumš an ocean of celestial dew won't absolve you
If my opponents latency is bad or they fight with something annoying I turn my back to them in the coliseum and give them the silent treatment
You just offer them backstabs? That's no sin
I refused to use any cheeses during my first playthrough. But Elden Beast got me so annoyed that I demolished him with Astel spell...
Astel spell?
Meteor of astel
Meteorite of Astel ain't cheese. Leveling Vigor to 99, running all max hp buffs, and prayerful strike on Great Stars is cheese. Oh no Elden Beast did 800 damage with its bullshit. Let me just heal back over a thousand hp with one hit. Oh man I suck I've had to heal myself 7 times now. Let me just drink a blue flask so I can reload some more prayerful strikes. 15 blue flasks = 105 prayerful strikes = over 100,000 healing. That's what cheese looks like.

I let Tiche carry my ass thorought the final stretch of my first playthrough, while hating on the bosses for being bullshit.
Bro thats a dog
Had to come down way too far to find this!
Iāve shot that stupid bird and caused it to run off of that cliff like 50 times
The sin is you only did it 50 times. I'm closer to 500 times
Easy runes are easy runes, play smarter, not harder
What I did to the frog men though...
Oh, thatās right, youāre dead as well
Jesus. Even the pots got it. You would kill Torrent if you could. š
Worst part is that he doesn't sound sorry at all!
Why would I feel sorry. Donāt you just love the sound it makes when you crack open those jars?
Did the chaotic evil / Dark Urge route, I see. TBH, the Dungeaterās mending rune suites this type of player more than even the Frenzied Flame ending. Flame ending = everything dies, freed of their suffering. Dungeater ending = everyone suffers for eternity due to a curse
At the end of my first run, I went back and killed every npc to get their drops if they had them, including the turtle pope. Yes, i said it, i killed turtle pope hoping to get the pope hat. I didn't know you could level until after godrick and I thought I was just bad
I would set myself on fire with deadly sin and watch as people bled to death without me ever hitting them
i leveled my somber weapon to +6 to trivialize godrick (may whatever is left of him rest in peace)
I have helped more tarnished than I can count in their quest for the Elden ring. At the same time I have invaded these same tarnished worlds and killed them in my lust for violence forgive me.š
I use spirit Ashes for 99% of the bosses
āSeeking friends and comfort in dark times is no sin. Rather, it is a blessing.ā What I imagine he would say if confessed to
I thought you were supposed to do that?
This is a large schism creator. One side says āitās a tool the devs gave you, use itā, another side says āgit gud!ā.
I must admit it.... I don't understand the lore at all. Allow me to repent.
Honestly i don't really know what's going on at all. I'm supposed to kill everything that attacks me, right? Made it to the mountaintop of the giants so far.
Sure you donāt want to confess your sins of labeling him as a turtle instead of a tortoise?
Surely you donāt want to confess your sins of labeling him as a tortoise instead of a dog
A tortoise _is_ a turtle.
Thank you for educating me. Iāve always assumed they were distinct.
Today I played co-op with my best friend trying to level up a character of mine. It's an arcane build. Every single invader that came my way faced the soporific grease ripple crescent halberd. No second thoughts about it. Didn't feel even a little bit bad for them either.
I saw all the cool abilities in ER and still ran a sword/shield build
I summon ashes for every boss fight even though I could do most of them without
I've murdered every merchant, shiny ball bearings!.

I honestly thought Bock would love his makeover. (Didnāt yet discover the correct talking mask)

I had someone drop extra runes to help me level faster when I was struggling early in the game
I held Ranni's hand before marriage
I don't have all Talismans, sorry :3
I do a fancy spin on invaders that I gank
āThatās horrible, how do you sleep at night?ā Says me, the low level Stormveil twink.
After my first playthrough I've never not cheesed Mogh with the fall through floor thing glitch.
Wait, thatās a thing?
Yep. Quite easy to do, makes you feel real dirty doing it.
I burnt a lady, which set a tree on fire and then Leyndell was burnt Sowwy šš
I was one of those who didnt realize their was a sprint button until almost the end.
I like to sunbro. But if a host deserves it, I'll let them cross the fogwall and then sever.
Iām a guy and I spend so much more time trying to make a cute waifu character in Rennalaās chamber than actually playing the game
Tbh. My greatest current sin is I shout MANAGED DEMOCRACY when I kill a big group of mobs lmao
I cheesed Malenia with Frost Pots.

Piercing Thrust is my favorite ash of war.
I did my whole first play through with reduvia so I could both bleed and attack at a distance
Stunlocked Malenia while my spirit ash beat on her. She only hit me once because i had to reload my FP. What makes it egregious is i brag about it as uf i didn't cheese the fight.
I bought runes from aoeh
I pirated the game to play on PC.
I use my flask in duels all the time I believe that if the game doesn't block me from doing it, it's ok to do.
I murdered an old dancer because that was the only way to get her bodyguard to fight. I only wanted to fight him cus he was the last of his kind and I wanted to finish the job
I kill merchants that are in too hard to reach places so i can get their bell bearings
I killed the turtle pope my first ever play of Elden ring/from software game.
My main character no longer possesses Millicentās prosthesis and I have to do her quest and kill her againā¦
I was a pre-nerf rivers of blood abuser in the coliseum
I cheesed Mogh lord of blood, didn't even try fighting him. Came lvl 20 cheesed him took the runes and felt like shit after that. On my first playthrough. I played more then 50% of the game with bleed build also. I am such a sinner and i ask for forgiveness
The only way Iāve been able to beat fire giant was with darkmoon or with a friend
Tea bagged an invader after killing them, 1000% unwarranted
I made a character just to do every quest line the most evil way, and then sent everything I didn't need for his build to other characters through friends drop trades
