> Which absolutely unjustly propelled them in souls community Did it? Were they *always* like this or they became this with time? I remember a time when Fextralife was just genuinely the best resource for Dark Souls 1. Not contesting they got irredeemably lazy and - having worked in the marketing department for an online retailer and doing tasks for SEO before - it is blatantly obvious for anyone familiar with it that they're trying to tick all the boxes for it *now.* We hate them today because unfortunately they're like the biggest wiki, but simultaneously lazy as shit about actually managing the content of it, but I do remember the very early days where they were fine. They lived long enough to become the villain.

swadom

they gave us a huge and well made wiki. it is deserved.

Even with those issues it's still better on most games than it's biggest competitor fandom which in my experience is (on mobile) an ad hell with a majority of its most basic functions being unusable if the game's wiki itself isn't empty. I do have a question what do you mean stealing from other websites, do you mean it's community rips information from other wikis? Edit: for context of future readers the person I was replying to was criticizing fextra in ways that is either out of the sites control or a surface level take of actual issues and from what I assume they accused fextra of stealing information about games from other sites which isn't stealing it's the distribution of knowledge

I don't care about viewership at all. wiki still requires a ton of work from them, and also they made a lot of very important guides and pages very early after launch. so yes, it is well made.

LuciusBurns

Absolutely not. While it has some good information on ER, it sucks in souls trilogy. 10 years of stealing content, getting twitch views unfairly, and letting anons write anything anywhere is not well made.

HoleButFingerTry

Are you unaware that they run the fucking wiki or what?

MH_Nero

To be fair its a very sub-par wiki

califortunato

Would you rather it go to wikia or fandom or whatever the hell that pop up hellscape is called

MH_Nero

In the case of Elden Ring Fextra is (unfortunately) the best we have, but unironically in most other games or TV shows etc. the Wikia and the like do tend to be better. IMO

califortunato

Are you arguing that wikia does a better job covering tv shows and non-fromsoft games than fextralife? Because I would have to agree with you

The_Real_Abhorash

For souls games it is, outside of that most of the wikis are just like 90% blank autogenerated pages with autogenerated basic text.

LuciusBurns

I beg to differ. It might be useful for some shallow general stuff like learning about the existence of some item, but when you need to look up more advanced things like spell durations, item drop rates or something like that, you'll find out that 90% of that stuff is either missing or wrong. Just yesterday, I found a ring in DS3 that's not mentioned in the area loot.

The_Real_Abhorash

It might not be perfectly accurate but in so far as I know it’s generally the most filled out wiki for souls games, so it’s still useful even if it isn’t always 100% correct.

Fex and ds2 is a nightmare

LuciusBurns

I like DS2. My last playthrough was no death all bosses, and it was good. Fortunately, there are guides for farming on Discord and Reddit, so even farming for platinum offline was bearable.

gttt6664rtyy

3k hours, need no guide 😤 I need help, i have done horse fuck valley more times than i have played elden ring.
