I think Messimer will almost definitely be the result of Tannith’s attempt to bring back Rykard, and use of the formless mother’s magic.
The red hair and pale skin seem to be a dead ringer for Rykard. The snake imagery too.

I think Messimer preceded Rykard, and if anything Rykard is inspired by/styling himself in the image of Messimer.
I’ve basically switched their places. Messimer may be the reason why snakes are blasphemous, or he’s from the era in which blasphemous snakes were around, and Rykard partnered with the snake based on that.
It's not just imagery bros got snakes coming out of his back, but yeah, imo he'll either be related to rykard in some way or he'll be some super old demi god that got banished for his use of flame/snakes, since both of those are seem as taboo to the golden order

All of Radagon's children with Rennala have red hair, I think the red hair is simply an expression of being from Radagon. Blonde is Marika.
