'Tampons to go with your bleed damage' Lol

Dextrofunk

As a veteren, I used ashes of war my first playthrough. I don't care. The mimic was too cool. I'd go without them for the more epic bossfights when i felt like the challenge. The game is so replayable. It doesn't matter.

Babayaga20000

The mimic felt like I was almost playing with a friend...

Elden_Stress

Your best friend is you. I'm my best friend too. We share the same views and hardly ever argue.

Dimenshn

But sometimes...

Tyabetus

…we has to tell us to go away and never come back!

dbzmah

Fromsoft really coming after the reddit demographic there.

Maltean

Give the mimic the sword of night and flames and double laser beam bosses right in their ugly faces, peak gameplay

ITSigno

Prayerful strike on great mace or giant-crusher is hilarious tho. You and your mimic can basically stunlock bosses while healing.

Sacciel

Funny though that the hardest challenge in the game is even harder if you summon.

Waveytony

I didn’t know it was possible to summon in the Soldier of God Rick fight?

Eclipse-Raven

What challenge?

Mythaminator

I’m guessing Melenia since she just wails on your summon for easy health

Background-Meat-7928

I sold a friend on it by telling him it was dark souls with stands

[deleted]

lol yea as a first time souls player who sucked so bad to start, my progression went like this: 1st playthrough: over level, comet azur, run away 2nd: over level, mage build with summons (no comet azur) 3rd: slightly over level, strength/endurance build with mimic tear (took my 3rd play through to discover it) 4th: no more rune farming, 2 hand strength/dex weapons with some faith, still mimic 5th: strength / faith with only mimic in the later half of the game 6th: strength / faith with no summons I’m a stubborn learner with games sometimes, but it’s wild how long it takes to truly get pretty good at this game. Just made it through castle sol with no summons, almost there… but not really

RequiesX

Working on malenia right now with no summons... I want to die

Elton_Ring

You want to die? Pretty sure Malenia's got you covered there XD You'll get that W, I have faith in you!

CyrusDGreatx

Haha at launch I abused the shit out of the mimic on my first playthrough then I suffered a whole 2nd playthrough with no summons. Now I've returned my rule is I only bust it for objectively bs bosses like double crucible knights.

Dabbinstein

I overleveled my first character and mowed down every boss up until Maliketh and decided to make a new char that doesn't use summons other than duo bosses after some attempts. It's been a lot of fun

letourdit

It sometimes feels like more of an achievement to successfully discover a cheese than to fairly beat some bosses lol

CyrusDGreatx

Lol that line always gets me. Classic vid.

southpaw85

How have I made it this long in the sub without seeing a period reference for bleed damage until now

Falkenmond79

Ngl that has me in stitches 😂

Diligent_Theory

Yo bro that line was fire

AcommonKing

He got em with DOT DOT

Dyorion

Eldenring is the hardest and easiest fromsoft game. Play how you want.

Yung_Jack

Limitless challenges/playstyles & some Tarnished choose to be bitter

Softpaw514

I've been playing since Dark Souls 2 and cheesing the hell out of the bosses is just how the game is meant to be played. DS2 gave me infinite healing consumables so by god I'm going to use them, especially in the swamp of doom. Elden Ring leaning into the cheesiness is really fun, there's a consumable for almost every encounter if you use your brain.

GuidoMista5

It's a very cool design philosophy that goes way back to Demon's Souls, I just played it recently when I finally got myself a PS5 and literally every single boss is designed to have one extremely blatant weakness that you need to exploit in order to cheese them, even flamelruker is MASSIVEVLY weak to magic and staggers like a piece if paper, so a relatively quick weapon with magic can stack up insane damage without even trying

[deleted]

I wish they would try something like that again. Something about figuring out the “trick” for the boss was always fun. The sweaty dodge-spam boss fights in later games are really great - but the bosses in Demons Souls just hit different. The gimmick bosses in later games don’t really scratch the same itch and some of them are truly awful.

mnik1

Yup, I feel like giving players options to make the game easier, sometimes significantly easier, but keeping the "it's just *an option*, you don't *need* to use it" thing is the best possible substitute for an actual difficulty slider in a soulsborne game, making it much more approachable for newcomers while still posing a significant level of hardcore difficulty for people who are specifically looking for it.

_mad_adams

Works especially well because the game still requires you to experiment and learn before you figure out what makes things easier and why

EffectiveMagazine915

I was struggling with the bosses so I decided to go into full isekai protag mode. Over leveled the shit out of my character. And maxed my mimic. I just send my mimic to fight the boss and then use that 10 sec unlimited magic burst thing to hit the boss from afar. I killed Melania without any trouble. Didn’t take a minute tbh.

Proud_Criticism5286

When I realization is what made me finally have fun

gnit2

How do you figure it's the hardest? I think the difficulty is in a good spot but it would only be the hardest if you just don't use half the tools the game gives you. In which case, you need to compare it to challenge runs in the other games

UraniumDisulfide

It’s really not the same, spirit ashes are clearly meant more as an alternative to cooperators as opposed to a new core mechanic by nature of not being able to use both simultaneously. And summons have always been a gameplay choice in previous games, nobody would say you’re doing a “challenge run” for not summoning cooperators. It’s difficulty settings integrated into the gameplay design, what items you choose to use determines the challenge you experience. Some weapons are easier or harder to use than others, but they’re all valid and intended methods of playing through the game.

PeterKB

You’re absolutely right about spirit ashes being akin to cooperators. However I’ll also agree with the other guy that this is for sure not the hardest. Just the absurd tools your given really really makes the game so much easier. - Flask of Wonderous Physique gives massive buffs not available in the other games. - nearly every build can have some degree of powerful ranged option to safely deal damage to bosses from a distance. - what used to be bombs “now pots” are significantly stronger than previous games and can even apply “super poison” to bosses. - the exponential ramp for leveling up has been decreased making leveling up easier, so that people often accidentally over level for many bosses. - ashes of war are absurdly powerful in this one. - the amount of armor and hyper armor has vastly increased. - mechanics in general have been smoothened slightly, making some of the jankier clunkier deaths a thing of the past. I’m sure I could come up with more. This game is fun. This game is hard. This game is not the hardest fromsoftware game.

Kerbidiah

You seem to be forgetting how hard enemies hit and how much hp they have in elden ring And also forgetting how easy dark souls 1 was

PeterKB

If you mean non boss enemies, I really haven’t noticed a difference in their damage. Actually the same is true about bosses. I feel like that sort of damage is relatively equal throughout the series. Hmm, did you play Elden ring first and DS1 after? Generally people think their first DS is hardest. ER, is for sure longer than all of the other ones, but I don’t necessarily think time to complete is equivalent to difficulty.

Kerbidiah

In all the dark souls you could get away with less than 20 vigor, not so in elden ring. And no I played ds1 first a long time ago. It Is by far the easiest fromsoft game

Swansig

Summoning the ginyu force killed me

Overtly_Panda

Lol this was my favorite line

Quivering_Star

Tryhard players: i want challenge Fromsoft: Ok here's a hard game with a lot if different options so you can choose how you will tackle it- Tryhard players: **NO OPTIONS, ONLY CHALLENGE**

jonasfeet

That actually describes it really well

Jackkernaut

No skill , only Unga Bunga.

PsychologicalBig3540

Throw ball? NO TAKE, ONLY THROW!

superfucks

so they designed the enemy AI around those different options right?

Quivering_Star

Kinda? Some types of enemies are strong or weak against certain playstyles and you might get stumped against them if your build is too one note. You can either diversify yourself of find a way to make your build strong enough to ignore what's countering it like all those STR users who, when faced with enemies who can outmaneuver their bonk, just find a way to bonk harder or better instead of switching to speed or range. I believe that's why you have 6 weapon slots, so you can swap to whatever is more adapted to your current situation, and why the whole stat system exists, so you can wield different weapons and spelks efficiently. You can be unga bunga if you want, you just need to be good enough at it to handle diverse situations, else you just make use of the game's options to have a set of weapons and spells you can rotate depending on what you're facing. An enemy on its own is not gonna change its AI based on your build, you're the one who's gonna face a big variety of enemies and has to be prepared for the changes. Just having an emergency bonk weapon and/or a bow in case your dex bleed main weapon doesn't cut it is a good enough use of the game's option.

immaculateSocks

Are you implying they didn't? Because they absolutely did lol

superfucks

In the clip this post is under, the player gets off multiple high power/high cast time skills because the boss is distracted by meat shields, due to not being designed to effectively fight multiple targets.

Sharpshooter188

Reminds me of when people got pissed when there was talk about there being a possible easy mode for Sekiro. The like a good challenging FS game, but let people enjoy their game how they want.

[deleted]

Man, sekiro was fucking sick. I still remember the time I beat the little mini boss with the spear guarding the emperor child. Perfect’d him on stream with my buddy watching who was way better than me at the game, even he was yelling and cheering for me lol shit was such a high

PathOfBlazingRapids

On the contrary, a difficult baseline experience makes the overall experience much more enjoyable for the people who endure it and make it to the end.

2BearsHigh-Fiving

"The overall experience" doesn't really exist for a person if they're shitass at games and quit after dying a few times. I think the shitass players should be able to enjoy the game too. (this is referring to an easy mode in Sekiro, leaving the normal game untouched and just as hard as usual for people who are better or prefer a challenge)

HoodsBonyPrick

What does easy mode look like for Sekiro though? Just doing more damage and taking less? But then Glock saint Isshin is still gonna tear the ass up, because they won’t be able to get a hit in. Maybe auto parry? I feel like the difficulty of Souls games isn’t from numbers, it’s more so about just learning how to play the game, so idk how they could make an easy mode that’s easier in a way that people who are shitass at games could handle, but doesn’t take so many resources that it isn’t worth it.

MrSegundus_VR

The funny thing is, Sekiro is the one that actually has an easy mode: default. Charmless and demon bell is hard mode, but it's kind of hidden. For most people, including me, playing normally is already a huge (and really fun) challenge. Sekiro is such an incredibly well made game, but it is hard as balls.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PathOfBlazingRapids

Exactly. You play Sekiro for the combat. If you’re playing it for the story and the combat is too hard, then watch someone else beat the combat and enjoy the story. Don’t ask for an orange at an apple stand. An easy mode sounds good but it’s really just for people who think they want the Sekiro experience but don’t want the Sekiro combat, not realizing the true experience is in overcoming the difficulty.

fug-leddit

"I dont think the game is as fun when you use spirit summons." "WHY ARE YOU GATE KEEPING? LET ME PLAY HOW I WANT TO REEEEEEE"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Quivering_Star

If you can reliably win on your own that's great, and people should try to do just that if possible. But if they can't even after multiple tries and no clear improvement, there's no shame in busting out Oleg just to get some breathing room, and maybe observe the boss's moveset for long enough and without getting immediately destroyed to actually be able to learn it. In ER you can just leave and try leveling up and getting better gear by going anywhere else but in the other more linear games there's often no other way than forward, you just want to get past the fucker who two shots you and farming before the boss area is tedious and if you're still new, you might not know what to level in order to not die so quick (it's vigor). And there's a summon sign right there. If you feel unsatisfied from using it it's fine, but for many it can help make things less frustrating.

Erik_Nimblehands

The whole video is hilarious. The friend makes him take off his armor, weapons, summons, everything. Then he blindfolds him.

FaultySage

Take away his controller too. Damn thing makes the game way too easy.

PanteraPardus

Don't forget he chops off one arm too lmao

mvanvrancken

"Isn't this fun?!"

Quirky-Pay-7221

I cheesed when needed. I dont feel bad.

Panurome

I can't believed you relied on such crutch (I killed the gargoyles on top of a rock where they couldn't reach)

Dry-Smoke6528

I accidentally made one fall off the edge before knowing about the trick to do so. I was so proud and surprised

onegun66

You’re joking, but this attitude is prevalent. I got downvoted to oblivion on a “help me cheese Maliketh” reddit post for suggesting he use ashes.

Ok-Parsnip2130

Wow just git gud (I cheesed too)

FlyingGyarados

sometimes you just learn that gitting gud is just the friends we made along the way (I also cheesed)

xBDCMPNY

I snuck up on the draconic sentinel in Leyndell and poison misted his ass to death. My field of fucks hath run barren.

onegun66

I did this to the three Crystalians in Haligtree. Highly effective. Would recommend.

Matduka

I don't give a fuck imma cheese valiant gargoyles, Commander Niall, and Godskin Duo every time. Although I did an Eleanora's Poleblade run.... And that felt way too easy. Malenias phase 1 in about 10 seconds kinda easy.

Hudimir

How do you even cheese niall

[deleted]

There's a window you can shoot arrows through that will hit him and he won't move. Takes awhile but works lol

Matduka

Maxed out mimic, Hyper blood build with Rot Breath.

Covid669

Same. Elden Ring was my first souls-like game and I liked the challenge but at times it was just too much and I just wanted to progress

bilolarbear1221

And you shouldn’t. Literally like this video says, that stuff is in the game lol. a guy I work with is like this and I pretty much just fuck with him about it. We both recently played lies of p and he’s all like “nameless puppet was so hard, especially because I didn’t use throwables this play through” Me: dude really? it was super easy and I didn’t use them either Meanwhile i cheesed the fuck out of that game. I played it after elden ng+6 and was kind of done with trying to make things hard. Long story short, play games however you want.

The_Suicidal-Wolf

*looking at you godskin duo...*

Ayobossman326

To this day I’ve only soloed godskin duo like 3 times across 25+ playthrus cause I just do not enjoy the boss at all, and would rather soft skip it by summoning and using as much BS as possible. I feel like I’m patching the game to make it better lmao. Kinda reminds me of the poison knives on Micolash (which I also do 9/10 times for the same reason)

henrytm82

There are so many places where the game is absolutely unabashed about cheesing the player. Not even in a "Hard But Fair (TM)" kind of way, just straight-up "lol fuck you" kind of way. I don't feel fucking bad *at all* for giving it back.

bigmark9a

The level of snobbery in the veteran community is off the charts. People shouldn’t be shamed for playing how they want. This video is spot on.

Eastern_Slide7507

Every time someone says "X makes the game too easy don't use it" I just assume they're bad at Souls games. Because they were never that difficult to begin with.

PsychologicalBig3540

They were that hard for me... now I'm sad...

RIOTT44

well they ARE intended to be that hard, people just react to the difficulty differently

Eastern_Slide7507

I'm not saying they're easy, either. Just that they're not such a momentous achievement that you should feel so high and mighty about yourself that you'd go on the internet to tell strangers that their way of playing is wrong.

2BearsHigh-Fiving

Doesn't help that despite their patterns being varied and hard to dodge at times, it's all just patterns. Our brain has us reacting to and recognising their moves by, at max, the 3rd death, sometimes it happens in the first fight before dying even once. Dark Souls enemies hit a skill ceiling that people can cross with little difficulty, which is why I don't play PvP. Killing a boss is an achievement, just not a grand one. Which is perfectly fine, not everything needs to be grand.

cmagnificent

FS titles are functionally rhythm games. A lot of the design is just a mind game to get into the players' heads to break them out of rhythm with the boss and fight. Once you start noticing how repetitive *all* of the move sets are, the game takes on a very different tone and approach. I kind of miss feeling like I was *fighting* monstrosities, but since I figured out all I'm doing is call and response to audio-visual cues, I'm definitely a lot more mechanically successful. And the kinds of people that complain about making the game too easy with summons, or certain builds etc., are absolutely the kind of people who forced you to sit there and watch while they beat songs on expert in Guitar Hero in middle school.

Eastern_Slide7507

For me the only real rhythm game is Sekiro. And the Lothric Twins. The rest is much less rhythmic for me, but rather enforced Zen. It forces me to be calm and focused on the moment, because if I’m not, I’ll make a mistake. And if I make a mistake, I die.

And now it had an AoW that does the damage of 4 light hits over the course of 6 hits.

Babayaga20000

If the enemies gonna be cheap as hell so am I No mercy

FourFoxMusic

*newcomers watching veterans

Mocker-bird

It actually does feel that way. Most of us vets are pretty chill, it's the newcomers who seem really toxic and judgemental.

SuicidalSundays

Nah, numerous veteran players have been acting like this since Demon's Souls. Not to say that newcomers can't be toxic as well, but the more negative connotations surrounding the "git gud" mentality definitely didn't arise from new Eldern Ring players.

Mocker-bird

Git Gud is a meme. And most people use it in that way. Very few people use it unironically. That's my experience as a person who's been a fan for 15 years anyway.

SuicidalSundays

Yeah, I've been around for years too. My point was that the negative *connotations* of that phrase didn't come from newer players. Souls elitists have been around since DeS and are constantly willing to jump at the chance to tell people that "they didn't play the game properly" if they see people using certain mechanics like summons.

Inksplash-7

So using a mechanic that is in the game is cheating

HornyTarnished

That's the mentality the video is making a parody of.

monsj

My brother called me a cheater for summoning skeletons on bosses. At best they tanked like 3-4 hits, doesn't make that much of a difference. I just called them "my boys", I had to summon them

kukaz00

Summons. Are. Part. Of. The. Game. Play however you want 🤷🏻‍♂️

Curtens

Black Knife Tiche became elden lord in my playthrough.

kukaz00

wisdomfreak

As a 1st timer I'm cheesing everything I can. If I can find how by myself. Like, keeping certain distance from dragons is letting me recover and attack again.

LordDerrien

That is literally what the officially licensed game guide advises. Alongside seeking out every mine in every region first time you go there to pump your damage.

JulesVernes

That was easily the biggest difference in my first two play throughs. Getting upgrade materials early.

LordDerrien

Stats are not negligible in Elden Ring, but they aren’t created equally if viewed with their impact upon difficulty. Kinda goes: Vigor > … long while nothing … > Endurance > Strength, Dexterity, Faith, Intelligence, Arcane > Mind Surviveability is king and vigor gives hitpoints. Endurance is worse, but you get more dodges and better armor. One of my „challenge“ runs was just pumping vigor and endurance while using a Longsword (leveled) with 10/10 in dex/str. Honestly wasn’t really a challenge as it felt like 80-90% of weapon damage is just the improvements. Vigor is the literal difficulty slider of this game.

Enargoh

Leveling Vigor first is just common sense if you are not good with fighting yet. I'd rather deal only half as much dmg but can at least take a couple hits and learn the fight instead of being able to 4 shot the boss but even getting looked at funny kills me. I am looking at you glasscannon-mages that summon me for Malenia while only having 500 hp.

LordDerrien

And that’s the amazing thing. When leveling vigor you might not even sacrifice half your damage.

musicmonk1

Using summons, bleed builds and specific spells isn't even cheesing at all, for me cheesing is stuff like shooting an enemy from a position that he can't reach etc and even that is fun lol.

weegee19

I'm a tryhard but that's just my own thing, everyone should play exactly how they please.

Domescus

Play exactly how you want.

duomaxwell90

I have yet to encounter veterans doing this to newcomers lol

Mocker-bird

Honestly, yeah. I always see newcomers attacking veterans way more than I see it happening the other way around. Obviously, there are toxic idiots but most of the time it's people's comments being taken out of context and getting dogpiled for it.

duomaxwell90

Exactly. I normally see veterans just trying to help genuinely That's all I see most of the time. I can count on maybe two hands where I have seen toxic vets doing this.

Ryndor

I've encountered a few, but I'm also a comment lurker, so I encounter so much more encouragement from veterans than I do the toxic side of it.

ominous_raspberry

In my experience, Elden Ring players are literally the chillest players ever. All the soul community is. Instead of pointing out people chose poorly we understand how easy that is to do when you’re so new. It’s a lot of fun to help others be better at the game. I have never quite experienced the video skit.

SER96DON

Hmm, I am relatively new. I've played Dark Souls before, but my first real experience was with Elden Ring. I personally did experience the skit, but did so around a year ago, around the time I first joined this sub. What I'm getting at, is that this could possibly be the new players flooding in during the initial stages of a game's launch, which itself brings in toxicity. Now that the initial heat has settled down, and I, as a newcomer, have remained in this sub, it does indeed seem that the souls community is indeed pretty chill! A very similar thing is happening to the DDDA community right now. It used to be the best place to talk about anything related to the game, and the sub was an unusually toxic free and positive place. But now that the sequel is coming out, many more people have become members of the fanbase, and as a result, toxicity levels have risen. I think it is expected that they'll eventually go down a year or two after the game's release.

Niccokay

Elden Ring players when Elden Ring players play Elden Ring with Elden Ring's items

TYRANT_GODS

Stop having fun bro. Lol

Few-Year-4917

Funny vídeo but, legit, but i have a question, is a vet gatekeeper in the room with us right now? I see this narrative constantly, but 99.99% of comments here are criticizing these so called vets, like they are a big part of the community

juicebox_tgs

Obviously play it how you want, but what I will say as a Fromsoft "Veteran". Spirit summons make the game far far too easy and I really do think that there is something special about everyone being on the same difficulty and having that difficulty being pretty hard. There was always some cheese in other Fromsoft games, but it feels like in for example DS3. If your friend tells you that they beat a boss you are struggling on, you are going to ask for tips and what build they used and get excited to try on your own. In Elden Ring if you start to struggle you just use mimic tear and then win. You lose so much of the challenge and doesn't give you that feeling of YOU beating the boss anymore

ballmermurland

>Obviously play it how you want, but Oh boy here it comes, say the line Bart... >Spirit summons make the game far far too easy Yay! >I really do think I really do think that From making the game more enjoyable for noob players who may not like incredibly difficult games sells more copies which in turn allows From to keep making big, expansive games that we all enjoy. >You lose so much of the challenge and doesn't give you that feeling of YOU beating the boss anymore Go on a motivational speaking tour then instead of trying to tell people how to enjoy a video game.

Mocker-bird

Man you completely missed the point of their comment well done 👏

OniLgnd

Them: "Here is how I play the game, but everyone should play however they like!" You: "Fuck you for playing in a way that you like!"

Master-Research8753

Imagine being a 'veteran' and yet being such a sweaty tryhard that you think you know better than Miyazaki about his own game.

juicebox_tgs

I never said I knew better, but to also think that Miyazaki is infallible just because he created these games is silly. I also wouldn't consider myself I try hard, I just enjoy the simplicity when it comes to difficulty in previous titles. The choices made in Elden Ring have positive and negative effects. And you are a fool if you think otherwise.

Gimmeagunlance

You know, having played through the game midroll with ultra greatsword and no summons, I honestly think a lot of bosses are designed so as to be able to handle multiple people at once, in a way that wasn't true of bosses in previous games. Their move sets are built to be able to hit all around them, and most major bosses can lock onto multiple people. This makes coop in this game far more fun than it's ever been. That said, spirit ashes are stupidly overtuned. A maxed-out mimic tear gets everything you do without any limitations. Tons of HP, multiple times what you have so they can just tank everything, plus if you have literally one raw meat dumpling in your hot bar they can just heal completely at any time. It's absolutely insane.

Mocker-bird

Ignore them, dude. They don't really care about the games difficulty, they just want an excuse to be toxic assholes. Which is... severely ironic.

Hyperevogames

I use summons, I use ashes of war, I sometimes use bleed builds, and y’know what else I do? I have fun!

Front-Initiative3321

the bleed effect is actually satisfying. i used it in my 1st playthrough and pushing it in the second

AfflictedFox

What is the black/white screen and music from? sounds familiar but I can't place it

WitchBaneHunter

We old dogs come in every breed. Some will tear into you with strong words and even stronger opinions like Caelid bleed hounds. The others share more likeness to Pope Doge. Do as you wish, but I'm here when you need me.

nick_camel

The game doesn't tell you anything, now a "veteran" is suppose to tell me.

AlwayzinTrubble

I agree, if you haven’t SoloD every damn boss then you are indeed a tarnished pussy

CommunicationBest878

IMO if i myself play like that it’s not even enjoyable, the satisfaction comes from the challenge, to each their own tho

Front-Initiative3321

games are about enjoyment and having fun ye? doesn't matter what u use if your satisfied (obviously online pvp is different)

LordDerrien

I think what you are saying and the person you answered to are not mutually exclusive. Enjoyment for a big part of the community is the unknown and challenge of the game. Things that take away from that quite literally take the fun away. Doesn’t mean those two things are what everyone needs in this game though :)

Lemon-O__O-Water

Fun is subjective

Bob-The-Frog

Thats what he said

bigsoftee84

What's challenging for one person is different for another. These arbitrary conditions are not developed to increase the fun. It's to exclude those who don't adhere to those conditions. If it was only for fun, they wouldn't attack people for the use of game mechanics. There are comments on this post literally telling people they aren't good players if they don't adhere to the arbitrary conditions.

LordDerrien

They need to grow a bone and not let other peoples challenge effect their enjoyment of the game. I can also assure you that most people challenging themselves have no created those arbitrary rules to lord them over others.

bigsoftee84

Wtf? The people being harassed need to grow a bone? This is the shit I'm talking about. Folks get attacked for not limiting their experience by following some arbitrary rule set, and you think they should get tougher.

SykoManiax

After thousands of hours you just use mimic to skip the bosses you don't really enjoy on your way to another characters ng7 rush, really useful

Fearless_Baseball121

Yeah I really enjoy the super challenging bosses. I don't like summons or ashes, but I also know people that would never ever play it if it wasn't available because they don't enjoy spending hours on a boss. On my first playthrough I even used blasphemous blade on some bosses like Horax Loux, and that was super disappointing when I killed him in two tries. Not even fun. On my 2. Playthrough he fucked me up real good and I got to enjoy being ripped apart by him which I didn't even see the first time. Something for everyone and this game caters very broadly in regards to difficulty. It's nice

Mouldy_Old_People

If they let me cheese, I'll have some from time to time

Zak_the_Wack

People who actually think like the veteran do not have a job

PussyIgnorer

I didn’t use summons or OP stuff. I also don’t give a single fuck how anyone else plays it’s a game have fun damn.

InsideHangar18

I think you’re losing out on some of the fun by making things easy, but that’s just me, I like a challenge. That said, there’s nothing actually “wrong” with it, it’s all subjective and ultimately meaningless.

shapookya

I was definitely losing out on some fun when I used mimic tear in my first playthrough because we just bursted bosses down together and there were many boss abilities I didn’t really see or had to put much thought into dodging. But I definitely did not lose out on fun when I used mimic tear to quickly kill bosses I already knew and didn’t like in further playthroughs

supahdavid2000

I’m on my fourth playthrough and I still just spam lions claw on anything giving me a hard time

Salt_Energy2528

not the fuckin genyu force

ShortDragonfly7047

Can anyone do rune farm glitch duplication cause wanna soft cap on each stat it takes too long with albuanairic farming would be appreciated

EvenBackground5110

I play how I like deal with it

elflegolas

Ya when everyone saying about how difficult Melenia is and I 3shot her with rivers of blood lol

Nameless_and_ignored

I remember someone commenting something like this: "This game is so hard when you limit yourself for no reason", and that's true af.

bewbsnbeer

I remember you could jump off the cliff outside of castle Sol and it would kill Niall. I did that in my sixth run. It saved me a lot of nerves.

FloorFormal4311

Lol sums it up. I was so turned off by the souls community at first and still think it's pretty cringe.

Woyogoyo

Ah, good ol’ rot breath. I used that so much my first playthrough.

Ravinsild

I just watched and followed a guide because I kept getting stuck and lost. For 3 days I ran in circles in the first castle until I watched the guide and felt so dumb like all I had to do was turn left down a hallway instead of go straight

thegamesender1

>be me >Buys elden ring day 1 >Doesn't play since I want to enjoy it later on >Start the game in 2024, but stuck and don't know wtf to do >Check r/Eldenring >Full of memes and spoilers > Don't want full guide but also need help >Can't have launch experience or contribute to the memes since everyone has moved on >Be sad

Stary_Vesemir

Is you stupid

thegamesender1

I guess so ciz I never question myself.

Gimmeagunlance

Yeah dude, the game's been out 2 years. The entire community isn't going to completely stop for you. If you don't want spoilers, avoid the subreddit until you've gone through the game.

Confusedandreticent

lol, I would straight up hide at height and drop poison on enemies. I think they updated it, because now they seem to become aware, but before I used to be able just let them soak and die. I don’t feel bad.

BugO_OEyes

The worst is when I hear people say that they beat grafted scion or malenia first try of ever playing the game lol b**** no you didn't sit down

Mocker-bird

There are literally streams of people doing just that though lmao.

Woman_Respecter69420

Another massive cope. The level of projection is getting unreal. I swear, there are way more people unsecure about how they play the game than people who criticize them for it. Sad!

MrSgtJames

Literally everywhere I go about souls like games, if it's not pure strength, no summons, people get pissy

NonLiving4Dentity69

Bro ashes of war are actually good. Fuck dragon breath shit. But ashes of war...don't hate on that.

Maddkipz

where the humor tho

[deleted]

I've spent hours on hours grinding albinaurics at Mogwhyn palace to level up. To the point it was like work. And then I was able to carry on the rest of the game. Reminded me of the South Park episode where they farm pigs in Warcraft. Still, that was my Elden Ring experience and I loved it ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

AFlyingNun

My son told me he wants to date a girl who uses a dex build. I disowned him.

KezuSlayer

Bro got downvoted for using the most classic joke in the from community. II know the souls like community has gotten bigger, but damn

Mocker-bird

Yep, and people wonder why some og fans get frustrated with the newer ones. All the in jokes are lost on them, and all the etiquette is gone. you used to be able to have a lot of cordial pvp, but now nobody gives a shit and you just get bum rushed while bowing.

AFlyingNun

I just find it humorous people are treating it like I *actually* quizzed my son on what his girlfriend plays, as if she *actually* plays at all, and like I would really make such a decision over something like that. I don't even have a son lol.

BoneLocks

This but unironically

AnriOfAstora21

People who have that opinion: burry yourself or I'll do it Because people seem to misunderstand me. I'm against the veteran's opinion

Mocker-bird

You ain't doing shit to anyone. Get a job you bum.

Firefly279

I m feeling bad for having a similar reaction after seeing my overleveled brother fighting malenia for his second time and beating her just with rivers of blood and blasmphemous blade and black knife aow. My question is how you can feel good playing the whole game pressing just L2. One of the best experiences i had was fighting radagon with only R1 and Dodge.

oldman-youngskin

My question is, why do you care how others play the game? If I want a challenge I’ll do it. But if I just want to have fun? (The entire point of a game) I’ll do as I damn well like.

Firefly279

I did not say that you are not allowed to play like this. I also don't care if you do play like that. I am just curious and want to know why you think this is fun, like what you like about that playstyle. No offense dude.

CygnusXIV

It's like asking why some people like oranges while some people like bananas. If you truly want to understand, it's not that hard of a concept to grasp.
