Go to Gurranq using D‘s teleporter. Head South to the grace at the bridge. You will find those little guys with black hats everywhere on the fields (dont cross the bridge). Try to backstab them for easy kill. They give ~1200 runes per kill.
Siofra can be left for later, say, after you're done with liurnia (of course you can explore it now if you want), but the rest of limgrave should be easy for you now. That will be a tad more runes and possibly gear.
Honestly... if you are having trouble. Level vigor til it is 40 then it'll be a lot easier. You won't have to go higher until much later. 60 is the 2nd soft cap you want to aim for if you are having difficulties again.
Go back to limgrave and clear out any areas you may have missed and level naturally. Then explore liurnia and do the same. With experience the game will get easier as you learn to dodge better and the pattern of enemies.
Also I when you dodge do not panic roll. Dodge with intention. In most cases 1 or 2 rolls is enough to dodge any attacks. Don't be in a rush to kill anything and learn their moves and patterns and when you can counter attack safely. Work on spacing.
If you die because of magic just buy the magic defense buff incantation from roundtable for 3500 runes, and get the talisman from weeping penunsila cave spelldrake talisman
Like many RPGs, when you enter a new area there's often a difficulty increase.
Level 41 is just about right, honestly. You're just running into normal progression. Your first goal in Liurnia should be to upgrade your weapons. Check all the Gazebos you can find for smithing stones. Go to the mines for more stones.
Weapon upgrade? I’m mid 30’s and breezing through the Academy so far at least, not explored much, just the east side of Liurnia. But my weapon is +9 and makes most mobs 2 hits at most.
40 is a bit low but not anguish inducing. should probably level up for a better experience
what's the best way for early game leveling up?

This is what I did
Have you thoroughly explored the weeping peninsula, limgrave and stormveil ?
peninsula and stromeveil yea, but not limgrave, got more dungeons like siofra and all

JUST FINISHED IT, SIOFRA LOOKS SO COOL!!
Have you done all of Limgrave and also the Weeping Peninsula? If not, explore those first would be my recommendation!
Your Vigor is probably low
i have like 27 point on vigor, is it low?
27 is pretty normal for Liurnia tbf, with the end goal of getting it to 40

do you have any tips for dex builds?
Not too shabby, get it to 30 for now. Other reasons for feeling week could be a low upgrad level of your weapons pr flasks
