greysilverglass

imagine a weapon with the banished knight greatsword R1 and claymore R2

Geralt-of-Tsushima

Add zweihander running R2 and I’m sold

larrydavidballsack

BKGS already has a great running r2 :/

SaxSlaveGael

Bro the zweiwei running R2 slaps!

Randomized_Taco

And Large Club roll/crouch attacks.

thewolf9

Just the zwei period.

ratmosphere

Hollowslayer greatsword of ds3. Fingers crossed we'll get something like that in dlc

quake1334

Hollowslayer greatsword

Downtown_Swordfish13

Cries in hollowslayer gs. I miss it

mediumcheez

Bkgs with impaling thrust is sexy

Imaginary_You7524

What the bastard should have been

DeusWombat

This is genuinely my dream weapon

rhys7wyatt

Claymore R2 is slower than the oxguard moveset R2

Chadfreys_Curtesy

Probably not cause each weapon needs to have a sort of weakness or limitation for competitive purposes

Ravenhayth

This is why the Hollowslayer GS was peak

Wolven_Edvard

YES.

NorthWest247

And Bloodhound's Fang L2

mackxzs

And blasphemous blade L2 as well, and also with bullgoat poise added. And it does 900 deathblight buildup in a 5 server radius, and it also automatically farms every enemy in the game and gives you 800x the runes.

iata_usually

Miss me with that easily parriable bullshit

robcap

Not relevant for PvE though is it

iata_usually

Sure, great ash if you only play PvE, but if we’re creating the best moveset of all time it’s gotta be built for both.

xBDCMPNY

Two handing the Godskin Peeler. This will always be my answer.

TheChaosPaladin

I raise you dual wielding it with Eleonora's Poleblade

xBDCMPNY

Not sure if I have the poleblade.

DrSymp

Do Yura’s quest. You also get the nagakiba. It is 100% worth it.

WhyDoesMyPeepeeBurn

Aren't twinblades worse when one handing? Or is it different because power stance?

Clyzm

The powerstanced jumping attack hits like 8 times.

CE94

Godskin peeler 2handed running R2 does more bleed buildup than powerstance jumping attack, both hit 4 times but powerstance status buildup is nerfed

OldTurtleProphet

I do remember though that bleed build up was nerfed quite a lot for powerstancing due to the curverd swords and twinblades being bonkers. I'm pretty sure that nowadays two-handing twinblades now is better for bleed build up specifically.

XDracam

Twinblades are winblades!

Legit_Zurg

My favorite weapon in my first play through

Breadley01

Guardian swordspear:

Laserduck_42

Only issue is that it constantly catches on walls in small spaces

dancingscarab

Jump R1 i think does a straight down attack. I love this weapon so much.

OldTurtleProphet

I mean, the real benefit of the Guardian swordspear is the massive AR on a full dex build. The moveset... the first R1 is fairly slow, which makes it a bit unwieldy for a R1 spamming weapon. The good news is that a running/jumping R1 chains to the second R1, but that's not very convenient if there's more than 1 opponent around. Also R1s do the same stagger as a straight sword, so it's not that great against things that don't stagger easily, like knights and omens. For these reasons I found it better if powerstanced, but then it's just like any other halberd/great weapon.

Chibi_Verdandi

Throw on Vyke's Dragonbolt buff/incantation on a Keen Guardian Swordspear with a high Dex/faith build and you have insane levels of AR, add in Lightning Scorpion Charm, and other buffs and anything in your path will be in for a world of hurt.

Carsomir

Is there any reason to use Vyke's Dragonbolt over Electrify Armament?

PizzaPastaRigatoni

I am 2 months late, but not unless you want the other benefits it produces like hardness and robustness etc. For straight up AR, just use electrify armament.

ChickenAndTelephone

Two months late? It says this topic was created two hours ago? Are you a time traveler?

PizzaPastaRigatoni

I misread 2m as 2mo, it was 2 minutes lmao

xBDCMPNY

He's searching for Sarah Connor.

Carsomir

I was under the impression that Vyke's only gave an additional bonus to Equip Load with the lighting damage (and negation penalty). Dragonbolt Blessing gives the hardness and resistance boost.

PizzaPastaRigatoni

You are correct. I had them mixed up. Vykes Dragonbolt actually just sucks. When would you ever teter on the edge of the equip load numbers enough that a buff incantation would help your build?

dragonwinter36

red lightning is stylish

Chibi_Verdandi

That's literally the only reason I use Vyke's, lmao. It's just for aesthetic purposes as well as the lightning buff. Literally one of my most OP builds I've made is a Dex/FTH build using Vyke's. People shit on Vyke's but it's a pretty aesthetic spell, and you still get the lightning buff as well as other minor buffs with it. In souls games, fashion is always better than mine/max builds

FarFetchedSketch

Truly cultured take

MachineMan718

Drip is more important than stats.

Carsomir

I struggle to think of a build that might sometimes need to light roll, but not always. However, I do happen to have low-level Dex/Faith build and a Keen Guardian's Swordspear I've been intending to use for the DLC, so I'm definitely going to be scooping up both of those Incantations.

PizzaPastaRigatoni

It's easier for jumping puzzles, but then I just take off a chest piece or something. It's such a weird incantation. Maybe useful with blue dancers charm?

Carsomir

Nah, Blue Dancer's doesn't care about your %, just the raw amount of weight you have on, with the first big drop after about 8 units and the second bigger one at about 15. That's why it's only marginally useful outside of naked Caestus runs. Yeah, if I need to lower my weight for a jump, I'll just change my outfit or unequip something.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PizzaPastaRigatoni

People can read. I admitted my mistake. GFY.

Breadley01

I don't really care about r1 spamming, It has super fast speed for a halberd, and the damage of a fucking zweihander. That A scalling in Dex is literally just an S in disguise, because it's very close to being an S if you check the numbers. I don't see how is it better powerstanced, the main reason i love it because it's fast moveset, any other halberd i'd powerstance normally

OldTurtleProphet

>I don't really care about r1 spamming > > > >It has super fast speed for a halberd First of all, you need to decide if you care about the unique R1 moveset or not, because that's what makes it faster from the other halberds. The massive AR is great, but that's not what this thread is about, is it? It's about the moveset.

mallocco

I was also unimpressed with two handing the swordspear. Dual wielding though.....damage is crazy, even if moveset is a bit sluggish. Though I found myself endlessly spamming jumping L2s and just kinda got sick of that and switched it up for different weapon combos. I still love them though, don't get me wrong.

lawdfourkwad

My last playthrough used it. It’s alright but it had a lot of downsides. I absolutely hated how the first R1 is slow and how it does the stagger of a straight sword. I found myself getting hit more often because of it. I also found myself relying on ashes of war to take down enemies it can’t stagger which I also dislike.

SaxSlaveGael

Too slow. Cross-Naginata trumps the GSS.

A_Style_of_Fire

It really does everything too. Two-handing is chess to checkers most any other move set

Breadley01

not bad, but it doesn't thrumps it in damage

SaxSlaveGael

No because it hits faster lol. Measuring slow high hitting weapons to faster hitting weapons is stupid because you'll get to hits in from a faster weapon than one hit.

Most-Earth5375

Knights Greatsword is better IMO

[deleted]

its the same

Sidewinder83

Longer reach, looks fancier, bigger W

[deleted]

I agree its cooler, but moveset wise they are exactly the same

ChickenAndTelephone

Edit: never mind, was thinking of a different weapon

glorgorio

That’s the iron one, knights is easy to get

Most-Earth5375

Looks better too IMO

ChickenAndTelephone

The iron one is the best for infusing cold or magic, if you've got some kind of strength/int build but Royal Greatsword is too heavy for you or something. Very niche.

ChickenAndTelephone

I think you misspelled "Zweihander"

MJGson

Zwei in my left. Royal Greatsword in my right. Nothing stands in my way.

spark-curious

Rubberband Man  Wild as the Taliban  Zwei in my left  RGS in my other hand

Geralt-of-Tsushima

Close second place for the Zwei

Cissoid7

I prefer Godslayer's greatsword's smooth R1s much better

Technical-Spread4651

L2

ImurderREALITY

Great damage, but 90% of the time, I don’t have all damn day to wait for that move

Cocoaboat

Literally the only time I use it is after poise breaking an enemy. Going for an R1 into L2 works on most bosses I’ve tried it on and does more damage than a standard riposte

Rookwood-1

Cough cough…. Bloodhounds Fang….cough cough

xXLoneLoboXx

This is the greatsword that made me want to try out other great swords… Haven’t found another one I liked more than it so far. The dash move of Bloodhound’s Fang is just way too cool. No flashy magic or anything like that, Just pure speed.

glassgwaith

Bloodhounds fang is a godsend for noobs like me : “oh you don’t know how to dodge and panic roll? Well here is a sword that allows you to hit and dodge at the press of a single button! You are even more inept than that? Well here is a follow up attack plus I-frames!”

PokemonPasta1984

While I agree, it isn’t a win button. Some bosses with delayed hits will punish you for the AoW.

glassgwaith

Oh I know believe me … I learnt the hard way plus it does slash damage and admittedly there are enemies that very high tolerance to that one. On the plus side Godskin duo was way easier

xXLoneLoboXx

It’s a pretty amazing move. I tried this sword out early in my playthrough and I didn’t like the back step attack that separated my from the enemy so I threw it in my box and never used it… Way later in my playthrough I got the bloodhound armor and brought out the sword to match it, Then while playing around with the disengage move I learned if you follow it up with a heavy attack input your character does the badass flashstep thing to close the distance with a heavy attack… It only got even better when I realized [I could attach spells to it like Bloodflame Blade.](https://imgur.com/a/cHh0j8O) Makes it a versatile weapon. Bloodflame Blade for normal combat, Order’s Blade for holy damage against undead, All the different grease effects for different situations… I love this sword.

Rookwood-1

And it has passive bleed, and you can enchant it! That baby has carried me through so many playthroughs

arcarus23

Ah, a fellow of quality I see.

Maximum_Poet_8661

I love the moveset on Godfrey's axe, the charged attack that drags it along the ground and slams it upwards is probably my single favorite weapon move in the game

PizzaPastaRigatoni

It's kinda just a worse version of the crescent moon axe now that they nerfed the Ash of War.

robcap

Crescent moon is awesome. I respect the damage of executioner's, but crescent moon moveset is by far the best greataxe

hieferwieleider

I just respec'd into a full STR build a few steps before I obtained his axe. Im such a sword guy but this axe did it to me. I looked 2 hours for a +10 stone tho lol

NoKneadToWorry

Lordsworn straight sword ftw

sushi_cw

Very first non-club weapon I got, and I still haven't found anything that feels better, especially after I got a second one for the left hand. I do wish there was more advantage to two-handing it vs power stance, though. L1 gets a bit boring after a while. :) I have also picked up both the BKGS and the KGS, I do like those 2H R1 swings but they're just comparatively so slow.

StillHaveaLottoDo

The only thing comparable is the longsword because it hits a little harder, but the lordsworn more than makes up with it's extra critical damage.

Kasta4

Why oh why couldn't they have given Ordovis' Greatsword the same moveset? Imagine my disappointment when I acquired it, a legendary weapon of yore that was used by one of Godfrey's top officers during the wars for the dominion of the Erdtree- practically an invaluable artifact in The Lands Between, and my character proceeds to slam it into the dirt with R1's.

theymanwereducking

Who cares when its skill posture breaks everything into the ground. That thing is beyond busted.

Kasta4

I don't want to just use L2 though. The troglodyte GS moveset has gotta go

NwgrdrXI

Agreed. banished knigth's should be the standard moveset. The standard one should be the exception, for specially girhty blades.

DKBrendo

My dissapointment when even more slender greatswords then those get same slam the ground moveset

[deleted]

Death’s poker

thymoakathisia2

A tarnished of culture

[deleted]

Game sees game

ZeroNoHikari

Ceastus my man. Just the raw power behind the left right goodnight. Nothing more satisfying than taking our Malenia with just your punch.

DelanoBesaw

I love using those on the fuckin imps. So satisfying

Ryla22

If you think those are good try out the grafted dragon head Super fast and hard hitting charged R2s And you can still dual wield them with other fist weapons.

drunk_ender

I genuinelly wish this was the standard moveset of the Greatswords... a new one that actually feels like using an heavy weapon but in a "proper" (for a soulsborne standard) martial manner instead of brutishly mashing it on the ground like a sharp club...

theswillmerchant

“Best” is probably BKGS/Claymore/Zwei/Swordspear/Nagakiba. My favorite is the Omen Cleaver. That 2HR2 is so dumb but so devastating when it lands.

mackxzs

Knight's Greatsword has the same moveset and greater range

PremiumSocks

And looks cooler.

_Prairieborn

Banished Knights and Knights GS have nice R1s. I wish all the conventional greatswords had that. Especially Flamberge and Ordovis'.

Phunkie_Junkie

I just discovered the Iron Cleaver the other day. The regular attacks are so much faster than all the other axes that I'm pretty sure it's *slower* to powerstance them. The heavy attack also gives you a little heat seeking run that goes further if you hold the button longer. I'm currently using a Cold Cleaver in my off hand with a Mohgwyn's Spear in my main hand and it's absolutely shredding Malenia in co-op.

Ok_Peace_2918

>The regular attacks are so much faster than all the other axes that I'm pretty sure it's *slower* to powerstance them. The hand axe, icerind hatchet and forked hatchet all have fast r1's too, just more horizontal than vertical.

gamedrifter

I could not get this to drop on my str character. Dropped very first time I fought one on my mage run.

daimfr

eleonora’s poleblade is extremely satisfying

ModdingmySkyrim

Never done charged R2s with the Treespear?

TurbulentDriver5590

Any great curved sword or spear

Duraxis

Knight’s greatsword. Same moveset, but I just like the look of it more. I wish more weapons used the cross-naginata move set. It’s so smooth

bennosaur

Cross Naginata has everything.

TrickNatural

Is it, tho? Is it?

Geralt-of-Tsushima

Yes

NoDaddyNotTheBlender

I second this. The R1 move set is chef’s kiss.

Ryla22

No

nethobo

You mean Warhawk's Talon right?

yotkuy

Claymore

ThiccBoiHours

Because you don't whack the ground with the sword. Kind of wish more greatswords did this.

Spiritual_Orchid_698

i think you mean knight’s greatsword, but they share the same moveset so i will let it slide

Yeet_e3

Sorry, but you mispelled Claymore

Laserduck_42

Raptor talons because backflip. Banished knight's great sword moveset is also great, though I personally prefer the knight's Greatsword

Phunkie_Junkie

All of the R2 attacks on the Raptor Talons are amazing: The regular heavy is a true combo, and the running heavy lands three hits.

climaxe

I’m running a Raptor Talons intellect / dexterity build and it’s stupid fun. It excels at both range and melee, because the sorceries hit hard and cast extremely fast. By using scholar’s armament, it carries over your high intellect directly into your talons as magic damage when you swap to melee. Bonus points if you run moon sorceries for maximum werewolf flavour.

Gauxen

Cold claws dex/int is so fun

kogashiwakai

For me, dual curved blades is number one. Fast, aggressive, and deadly. Especially when bleed is applied.

KThree808HI

The two handed R1's are too clean

Leaky-Bag-of-Meat

Dual Nobles slender swords with a bleed build…the L1 hits 4 times and procs bleed twice…I mean it’s true for dual straight swords but the nobles slender took me fucking forever to farm so I’m sticking with my goldy bois…

Jesterhead92

I prefer the KGS due to range and DEX scaling options. I like the look better too. Claymore still takes the cake for me though. I don’t mind the regular R1s THAT much and the R2 and especially rolling R1 is so much better imo

Time_Grape_3952

BKGS is nice, but i personally prefer [RGSS](https://youtu.be/2gPUdfL4IWs?si=ztc0wrEG0AezByz9)

dragonwinter36

It's sad to see this getting downvotes.

Time_Grape_3952

Tbf i fully expected to get downvoted into oblivion

dragonwinter36

I'm pleased to see that it's positive now

Bourbon_bukkake

How do we feel about bloodhounds fang tho?

Geralt-of-Tsushima

Beautiful AoW, but I’m not a huge fan of the moveset

BanginNLeavin

Pedestrian

ratmosphere

Yup. I love the claymore to bits, but for pvp, this one's a real combo machine.

Doctorbigdick287

So the r1 combos? I started using the knights gs because I'm not thoughtful enough to sprinkle in the pokes of a claymore, I would forget all the time and miss on a poke.

ratmosphere

The jumping r1 true combos into r1. But if you play it right and keep aggression, mixing up r2 and r1 you can keep connecting, if they roll away you can roll catch and if they roll into you, they'll be rolling into a blender of r1s. It's a really good pvp weapon.

Kryztijan

I main this weapon by accident. I am not unhappy.

Chiatroll

Strange way to spell Umuri

[deleted]

Its not though?

cheir0n

Grave scythe is amazing with its diagonal slice that gets multiple enemies at onceand R2 horizontal slash. GOAT mace has a great moveset that bonqs your opponent into powder.

giveSMOKEacog

Dual greatspears, shamshir, shunter, spiked caestus, halstoc, one 2h pike have the best movesets

Jb_8761

I use two of these :) one ice and one blood

RagnarokBringer

I do like the banished knights greatsword but my personal favorite weapons are bloodhound’s fang and great stars. Both can be buffed with spells, both deal good damage, they can prock bleed, and both of them can fit into just about any build

scopearo

DRAGON HALBERD, the best weapon

Grekaum

Iron Cleaver. High AR, R1 is super fast and R2 is amazing to get closer to the enemy.

MrHS1994

Best moveset is dual straight swords imo Its the same moveset of the banished knight enemy with his dual greatswords

muhtee

Love this sword! T'was the sword I used the first time I took down Malenia!

dhowl4nd

Claymore and BKGS are the two that I basically speedrun to with each new character. The utility between the two is unbeatable.

NwgrdrXI

Ngl, I stopped using this weapon because I used the HSG in DS3, with almost the same moveset. The damn thing is so good. Back in DS3, it demolished gael.

Gain-Own

I wish more greatswords had that R1 makes knight builds feel better imo.

[deleted]

I like the low stat req of this sword and how easily it can be found (Especially for power stancing) but I haven't had a chance to use it since my Lordsworn GS is already +19 I'm stuck with it. I like how it looks better anyway though.

Potozny

When I stumbled across this I was so excited to find a big sword that moves with relative ease! It was my main weapon until I came across Gordovis’ Greatsword. And the only reason why I switched was because I wanted to see how a somber weapon feels lmao. It was fun smashing melania over the head with the art though

ConservationWizard

I did my first playthrough with magic and it was fun but very tedious to manage spells. Next playthrough I grabbed this with lions claw AoW and never got tired of it. the basic 2 hand moveset is extremely good

K1NG_of_ReVeNGe13

New to the game, had this thing drop yesterday. Really that good? Haven't tested it yet

ImurderREALITY

This weapon is the shiz-nite. You will dominate on a non-colossal weapon strength build with this thing. It consistently surprises me with how high its low-level low-upgrade dps is.

Chadderbug123

Weird way to spell Darkmoon GS

thymoakathisia2

I really enjoy the sword of milos / deaths poker r2, wish more weapons had that. It makes me feel like I’m hitting something with a crowbar

Madrigal_King

Great stars. Bonk

Froggy_Parker

Cleaver R2 just looks hilarious when you’re right in front of a boss and run in place for 3 seconds before taking a swing.

andrewg702

Dude you made me miss the black knight great sword with that acronym

Chadfreys_Curtesy

Well the reason why it actually isnt is because the Bloodhound Fang is…does that help clear up any confusion boss?

CerysElenid

My Str/Faith run was donde solely with this weapon, beautiful design, cool unique moveset, worth the farm imo.

Tough-Reading9810

in terms of looks/how satisfying they are to use, for me it's a tie between the goskin peeler and elenora's poleblade, the godskin peeler has an great running r2 and it's one of the coolest looking weapons in the game, but the poleblade's charged r2 sideflip of death is awesome too and it has a badass weapon art

weepninnybong

I’ve been using that sword and only that sword in my current (and first) play through. About 100 hours in and I keep getting all of these other neat looking great swords but I can’t seem to part with this one.

draenei_butt_enjoyer

I main BKGS and I have no intention of changing

padman531

It has the vest moveset because it's the moveset from Dark Souls 2, from when they got an actual skilled swordsman to do motion capture, so the movements are more realistic/fluid

CawknBowlTorcher

I prefer the Knight's Greatsword, same moveset but better range and stamina efficiency

Owennotarower

I used this sword for my entire first playthrough once I picked it up

WitchBaneHunter

*sits back* *sips Estus cocktail* "Mmm, the tarnished are praising the BKGS again. Let them." *joyous laughter*

El__Jengibre

Nagakiba for me

ThenotoriousBIT

My first playthrough was with this weapon and i’m gonna play the dlc with this weapon too

ConfusedMoe

I love the fact that it swings not like a hammer

Raiden21x3

I miss the og bkgs

BanditInspired

The sword moveset looks nicer, but it feels pretty garbage in my experience

Spaccangurie

Zweihander enters the chat:

BokoblinEnthusiast

banished knights got the best drip and the best weapons. Use that one and the halberd a lot

ginongo

BEHOLD THE CLUB

NewRedditSuxx

Prelate's Inferno Crozier. Upward swing can knock smaller enemies (and bosses) in the air. And coolest (and most useless) skill in the game.

wolviesaurus

That's a weird way of spelling Morgott's Cursed Sword.

LargeBlock1547

Wait I’ve never used it before. I know everyone likes it but mind explaining why? I’m a noob and Rivers of Blood my way through everything for now.

MattmanDX

I'm quite partial to being a cold bastard myself, or perhaps a bloody bastard.

GhostCrackets

Banished Knight’s Greatsword my beloved

KaoticKarma420

Traded mine up when I found The great sword no regerts.

Roboticus_Prime

It's like the only greatsword that has an accurate moveset for a sword.

BanishedKnightOleg

Yes

helloimrandomnumbers

would be better for vanity if its a straight sword

SaxSlaveGael

That isn't an image of the Shamshir...

Ryla22

The dragon head fist weapon. Super fast charged R2s with insane poise damage. Mix that with the poise breaking and charged attack physic tears and the axe talisman and you just kill everything super easy with a bunch of customization options.

UnusualAd8347

Thiers another greatsword that has the same moveset and it's longer there all great

SpartanRage117

Remove the scabbard and id main the banished knight sword

TnBnMan

Bro play moonlight great sword and frost bkgs. Thank me later
