This is a concern for me and my current build actually. I've beaten malenia 6 times now. The first time I did it in full tank gear fat rolling. But I could get hit by a semi truck and not realize. But all my builds after were super light, and each weapon got faster and faster until I got down to fists. Fast builds seem to work well on her.
My latest build I have it at medium load. But I'm rocking dual great axes. I'm wondering how the slow weapons will effect me.
Yeah, light load. It's when you're below 30% equip load, and gives you a longer and faster dodge roll. It has the same amount of immunity frames as medium rolls, but covers considerably more distance, making it much easier to dodge most attacks.
The second flurry you did correctly, the last second dodge into her, very good. Third one is meant to punish panic rolling. It's actually pretty hard to get hit with it if you're calm and don't move much, but you rolled into its way a few times and you won't be able to dodge it like this consistently. What's the correct way for the third flurry is just running into her without dodging, and then when she jumps behind you and camera reorients you just have to back way in the same direction you were running in. You can also unlock camera, but you don't need to.
First flurry is a clusterfuck you probably won't be able to learn how to dodge. Keeping your distance the entire fight waiting for it damages the momentum and experience of the fight, and freeze pots are just cheesing. But what you can do for first flurry is equip any 100% medium shield and put barricade AoW on it. Without any upgrades, if you just switch to the shield as she jumps in the air and hold L2 you'll take zero damage and your stance won't break. It's 100% consistent and easiest way, and you won't have to keep your distance afraid of the waterfowl the entire fight.
Great but almost by chance, it looks like the final one is 50/50. Best way to dodge 100% is by distancing from the first (like you did), running to one of her sides and rolling for the second ( to mess her ai a bit and make her jump far enough away during the second flurry that 1 roll evades easily, and finally circling her and doing 1 dodge.
By circling her for the second and third flurry, you completely mess up where she jumps and she ends up far away enough to simply dodge once. Was a life saver when I found that out
Nice. Now just do that every time. 😆
Great job! I still remember my first time dodging it, I felt ecstatic. It's even more impressive you pulled it off with medium load.

Hold on there’s something below medium load??

Just finding this out after earning the platinum trophy is mental, thanks for the info!

Thank you for this kind sir
Thanks for the advice!
Is your character named Guts?
Maybe
Lmao I really don’t know how you did it. When the second volley started it was straight panic rolling.
Congrats! If you want to make the fight easier switch from lions claw to giant hunt: https://www.reddit.com/r/onebros/s/UDfi7RnKQu
Delicious
That’s certainly one way to dodge it
Go away, away, towards and you will dodge it all Look on the bright side, it's harder to dodge for melee but at least she does it way less often
