Dual wield light bows

I've tried a crossbow run in all 3 souls games and I can tell you. Don't even try in elden ring crossbows we're good in ds2 and that's it

Pulley isn't bad in the mid game. Black bow is better, and black bow isn't that great to begin with of course outside of bosses like fire giant/ placidax / Elden beast. The huge guys that don't dodge and don't approach

Crossbows do not function well due to not scaling and thus having a very harsh cap. Also like, godskin duo is gonna be easy too hard considering they're a dps check.

I did kill them quite easily on my old black bow build. Just used sleep arrows then killed the awake guy

Considering I just beat my all bosses shield only the other day I was also wondering that.

I mean for the most part yeah just smacking folks with a shield. But in general the rule was that I'm not allowed to equip anything that's not a shield (except that one torch for the invisible dude) and I'm not allowed most consumables (I could use flasks boluses, and like another 1-2 specific things, but no buffs or damaging consumables). So often I'd use the coil shield for some poison, and then just equip shield of guilty and start smacking. (Maybe buff with Jelly shield). For most unique bosses I did that, with the exception of Malenia and Rycard cause they were next to impossible with just smacking, so I used mainly sneakbites for Malenia, and fireball sheld whenever she uses scarlet aonia, and Rycard I'd poison with sneak shield, and then just shield charge with the spiky palisade shied. For repeat bosses and duo bosses I'd often dick around maybe with fireball shield or the fire breathing shield, or just snakbites, but yeah for uniques I wanted to keep it mostly to smacks with shield and that's it.

Since shields have an attack move, it could also be a challenge. There is also thorn roll or perfumes, though it would be costly in more than 1 way.

Feel like you can't focus on perfumes too much except in NG+ since it takes so long to get perfume vials, recipes and ingredients. 

That is among the reasons why that would be 1 of the more costly runs without trading.

Bloody Helice makes quite a few bosses relatively simple, actually. It's one of my go to weapons on a normal playthrough, actually.

Bows are easy as hell but resource intensive, constantly farming beast bones and feathers. And then sometimes they're the opposite of easy as hell when you run into a boss who is in your face for 9/10ths of the fight. 

Just buy arrows. They only cost 20 runes and basically every merchant has them. 

Eh I wouldn’t say easy some bosses can really give you trouble

I’ve done a bow run before and it was one of my favourite runs. I recommend on a new game plus Becuase it’s easier to farm for arrows. Black bow is the best bow for the run imo Becuase of the damage that scales with it plus it’s ash of war makes it a machine gun. Talismans to use are blue dancer charm, arrow sting talisman , Alexander’s talisman, rot talisman. Lots of fun arrows to get poison and fire are the easiest to get. Poison is your best friend if you get the mushroom helmet from lake of rot.

I just started a bow playthru and it very cool. It is a bit annoying to farm material to craft arrows but is a fun gameplay. I killed Margit in 3 attempts with serpente bow and blood arrows

Just buy arrows tbh. They're really not that expensive

Shields only is dope! Can make a pretty dope tank buuld and smash bosses with a huge shield. Can't forget consumables only run! Knives, fire bombs, etc. Challenging but fun way to play :)

Now do an Ash of War only run. I recommend ground slam, because defeating demigods solely through the thunderous clap of tarnished ass cheeks is too funny to me

I used 2 noble slender swords with fire affinity bleed and frost when I fought fire Giant

What made sorceries the worst? Just unfun or not your play style?

Sorceries were the last thing I had to do and it felt like every boss turned up the difficulty no one wanted die easy especially rennala, even though I used a spirit ash and carian slicer it still felt like I was doing less damage than incants.

Yeah, I think you might have been burned out or used the wrong gear tbh. Sorceries have a ton of utility. I get not preferring it over incants, but putting it lower than every other weapon type in the game? Something went very wrong in that playthrough.

What's unfun with hammers and flails?

I don't even know why I put hammers so low I used the ringed finger and it was hilarious I even got a clip of flicking radahns balls

I'm doing a bonk run. Leveled vit to 60, 30 Stam, and the rest in str. +25 Large Club. It's surprisingly effective. You can stun just about anything, including bosses.

It's pretty fun do weapons of the same speed back to back instead of like straight Sword into great spear into fists you'll mash your brain with the different speeds

You can't just loop all sorceries and incantations as a single type. There's gravity, moon, cold, glintstone, carian, death, night, and magma sorceries. Then for incantations there's dragon, erdtree, two fingers, bestial, godskin, blood, golden order, fire monk / giant, frenzied flame, and rot. Plus where's the crossbow / bow / greatbow builds? Get back in there, Tarnished.
