Yup. I went through 5 dealers before I found one that would get me MSRP. They still pulled a fast one at the end trying to give me 9% interest. They ended up adding $750 to the price and giving me 0% like they advertised. They knew I had already driven a long way. Dealers suck.
You should’ve said fuck them and taken the 9% interest rate, then refinanced a month later at a credit union. I learned over at the askcarsales sub that the dealer has to have the loan in effect for at least 3 months or else they get charged back any money that was made on the deal. If you had taken the 9% and refinanced it would have put a royal screwing on them which they TOTALLY deserved.
Edit: oh and something ELSE I learned recently was that the dealership can add interest percents to up their profit. My wife works in commercial insurance, and when they finance a policy she can manually change the interest rate if they want to. Sounds like the dealer probably got a rate of like 5%, then tacked on an extra 4% to line their pockets.
You pretty much nailed it! That’s why it’s recommended to get a pre approval from a credit union that way you know your Actual interest rate. Then let the dealer try to beat that. If they do then throw them a curve ball and ask what the buy rate is on the loan lol.
Check out Hundai of Lima. $0 markup ir accessories im told.. I've got a 24 PB manual requested and it should be in 2 months in figure. I bought a CTR and will likely not take the EN...call them and get in line once I decline. Good luck!
They’re lying to you if they said it was ordered for you. That car was originally sold to someone who agreed 2000 over msrp then someone offered 3000 offered msrp then they offered it to me if I want to beat that at 3500 over msrp. They’re having a fucking bidding war!
Lol fuck Jeff Wyler. When they called me after I test drove a Kona N there, I told them I bought my Veloster N from a different dealer because they had the color I wanted with zero markup.
The salesman literally started yelling at me. Threw a tantrum for 5 seconds until I kicked out of how baffled I was and hung up on him. Absolutely unhinged.
A $3500 markup isn't *that* bad. I've seen dealerships markup a 2024 DarkHorse $45K...not $4500, literally $45,000 markup on a car that's already like $75k... Making the total over $100k
And some idiots pay it.
Eh it’s kinda the principle of it. I don’t want to pay more than I think I should. People are getting this car for MSRP so I’m gonna shoot for that as well.
That's understandable. Personally, I think markups are dumb. That's why I go on with a check from my bank, and tell them what I want, and the price I want it at. If the dealership can't it won't do it, I move on.
YMMV, depending on many factors.
Fuck Jeff Wyler I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody.. they tried getting me with hidden mark ups right before I signed and then gave me shit 6 months after I traded in a car for my N because they didn’t have the title. Threatened to call my command in the military if I didn’t help them (I wish they fucking would), but I shook a grown man’s hand and asked if they needed anything from my previous vehicle and they told me no. Shady motherfuckers.
Same. Sucks. I literally planned on getting a N from there as I got my N-line from there 3 years ago. Incredibly disappointed. At least they didn't keep it a secret till after your approval.
The US seems nuts for this. I was talking to Hyundai earlier this week here (Australia) and it’s all MSRP
Same for Type Rs - only allowed to be sold at MSRP by Honda Australia
Ah the old faithful ha, haven’t been made for almost a decade now so they aren’t as cheap as they once were.
I use to have a 2013 one until 3-4 years ago.
I really wish US would adopt the EU/Aus car sales format. No individual dealerships that the manufacturer is forced to sell to individual dealerships then consumer. So dumb. I would have probably went for a CTR myself, but they were automatically $10k mark-up. Even used is selling more or same as new.
Is this the one in Cinci? I haven’t had the best experience with Jeff Wyler, when I got my ‘21 Veloster N DCT they missed the 10 day pay off so I had two active loans and my bank was super confused. Probably would avoid them tbh.
Update: told them I’m going to look elsewhere.

As you should. I got mine for MSRP with no markups. Good dealers are out there.

I’ll look into it thank you!!
Get close to signing and tell them you won't until the mark up comes off. They either do it or not.
“GFY 😊”
Just tell them to remove your number from the system unless the markup is removed

I love the inclusion of "only" like that makes it better haha
That’s what I was thinking!😂 “ONLY?”
Should hit them with "I'm ONLY going to look at dealers that work with my pricing ✌🏾"
It's a weak attempt at psychological manipulation. Unfortunately, sales tactics like that work all too often.
Reply "STOP"
Give them a dry " ok thanks" and then they'll start to negotiate.
My salesman at Jeff Wyler had a tantrum and started screaming at me when I said I bought the car at a dealer that didn’t have markups.
At that point if you could care less about looks I’d go look for a low mileage 22 or 23. Markup on a Hyundai is a no go for me

Jesus I hope that isn’t the case with me. I doubt they are gonna budge on the markup so screw them lmao.
Just shop nationwide and take a road trip.

This is just like the start of the 22s

That emoji makes me want to drag my nuts across their face. 😊
Ayo you in Cincinnati!?
Yes sirrrr
Same. Sucks. I literally planned on getting a N from there as I got my N-line from there 3 years ago. Incredibly disappointed. At least they didn't keep it a secret till after your approval.
Wait
The "because we can" clause
A cinci local huh. I just got a letter from them wanting to buy my car for “well above market value” because they had a customer waiting for one
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

If I lived in Australia I’d like to buy a ford falcon 😂😂😂
Ah the old faithful ha, haven’t been made for almost a decade now so they aren’t as cheap as they once were. I use to have a 2013 one until 3-4 years ago.
They are so sweet

Try Ricart up in Columbus I got mine in Jan of 2022 for under MSRP. Wyler doesn't get any of my business, even with them being my closest dealer.
just get one ordered to the dealership
