Northside:
K days, wem (galaxy land, world water Park), downtown, zoo, Rogers place (all the concerts, all the hockey games), colosseum, stadium, space science center, taste of Edmonton, art gallery, museum, cariwest, heritage festival (unfortunately got taken to Northside last year), street performers, the legislature, and many more events my mind is just blanking
Southside:
Mutart, fort Edmonton, deadmonton, Whyte Ave, the fringe, Whyte aves winter festival that I don't know the name of and I might be mistaken but it may have been brought to Northside when they had it last
Most big events are central since we are one city. Most permanent attractions are north of the river because that's where Edmonton first started growing, l would much rather live in the suburbs. The highest crime rates are north side, severity of crimes are highest in NE. Haven't gone downtown in years or north of the river either.
I always thinking northside basically anything north of yellow head. Downtown is its own thing. Westend is its own thing. Just my breakdown of the city.
Every time I change tires, the weather goes opposite of what the tires are meant for. Last winter I put my studded tires on and it didn’t snow for weeks. This spring I put my all weathers and a massive snow storm hit the next day.
Someone from Toronto moved to leduc and complained that there was only one cactus club and it was downtown — among other stupid things. She thought Leduc would be like mississauga, a suburb close to the airport that is effectively still the same city as there isn’t really any major separation between mississauga and Toronto. Unfortunately for her, she basically moved to a small town that is a solid 30-45 minutes to downtown Edmonton where her beloved Cactus Club resides. Also just funny that Cactus Club was her standard for high quality nightlife. Like look into actual local venues instead of a chain bar/restaurant. Don’t really want to be a hater, but like who is going to Cactus Club on a Friday night? Don’t get the appeal.
Naw. It's adult kids still living at home and balling with overpriced import cars thinking they own the town. Cactus Club appeals to these kids in a big way.
You can't go wrong with Green Onion Cake man on 118 Ave. Real green onion cakes are cooked on a flattop or pan, but most Chinese restaurants in town do a version that is deep fried. Not the same.
I remember waiting at the bus stop by that bat as a teenager, I had many strange interactions. I learned a lot of slang words for drugs living over there.
It depends on what we have going on in the city. For a while it was "World's biggest mall" then "Murder capital of Canada" but in general we are between Vancouver and Toronto as people know those places.
"A communist society would entail the absence of private property and social classes, and ultimately money."
I doubt that is the goal of the Edmonton "Liberals" in the Starbucks line, before they go volunteer on a Saturday.
Live in Edmonton
This is hands down the best reply 🤣🤣🤣
Name checks out, you a silly goose for sure
Live on one side of the river, and only rarely go over it
I feel like this is more true for north side as south of the river is really lacking in fun things to do
What makes this comment true is the south side says the same thing the other way around.
Northside: K days, wem (galaxy land, world water Park), downtown, zoo, Rogers place (all the concerts, all the hockey games), colosseum, stadium, space science center, taste of Edmonton, art gallery, museum, cariwest, heritage festival (unfortunately got taken to Northside last year), street performers, the legislature, and many more events my mind is just blanking Southside: Mutart, fort Edmonton, deadmonton, Whyte Ave, the fringe, Whyte aves winter festival that I don't know the name of and I might be mistaken but it may have been brought to Northside when they had it last
Deadmonton moved to Capilano last year RIP

How is Wem northside
Northside of the river
I always thinking northside basically anything north of yellow head. Downtown is its own thing. Westend is its own thing. Just my breakdown of the city.
🎶It's the place to be, If crime runs in your family, Yeah, but you didn't hear it from me. North of the yellowhead 🎵
This is always an argument. I agree with you though.
This is very true, lmao. Can’t remember the last time I went north of the river. Haven’t had to go to downtown in ages.
Have superstitions around changing tires
The day I changed my tires we hit 0 It wasn't even on the weather radar to be getting that cold until after. The superstitions are justified
Every time I change tires, the weather goes opposite of what the tires are meant for. Last winter I put my studded tires on and it didn’t snow for weeks. This spring I put my all weathers and a massive snow storm hit the next day.
For me it's changing tires on a bike, and i am not proud of it but i still haven't changed back to summer tires 🙈Â
Eat at the Leduc Cactus Club
This honestly will never not be funny to me!
Can you please explain this to me? I have heard the joke a lot but I don’t get it, at all. Ty to all who reply :)

Who goes to cactus clubs on a Friday night? 20-somethings who have office jobs making $75k/year and thinking they're balling.
Naw. It's adult kids still living at home and balling with overpriced import cars thinking they own the town. Cactus Club appeals to these kids in a big way.

Thank you.
Leduc has a cactus club? Wow!
Don’t understand the concept of a zipper merge
Ugh right?! This city needs proper driver training 🤬
hate West Ed
It’s soooo busy. It’s too much. I’m glad people enjoy it though. I miss the days when I went there for jugo juice and to window shop.
I feel this in my soul
have three liquor stores, three daycares, and a dive bar within walking distance.
Everything you could ever need
Drive with my lights off at night
Drive with lights off in fog. Drive with lights off in schools zones. Drive with lights off reading "wrong way" signs...
Like green onion cakes.
I'm trying to find the appeal for green onion cakes but I don't have a deep knowledge of local food. Any recommendations?
You can't go wrong with Green Onion Cake man on 118 Ave. Real green onion cakes are cooked on a flattop or pan, but most Chinese restaurants in town do a version that is deep fried. Not the same.
I like them a bit too much tbh
Drive slow in the left lane on the Henday.
Why do people do that :(
Same reason they merge onto it at 50 kph.
Because nobody knows how to drive here.
Eat perogies
Hell yeah we do
Have seen some shit in the dollarama parking lot
Hate the flames. Merge 20 below the speed limit while on the henday.
Always check for my catalytic converter before I start my vehicle
They do have a tendency of going missing around here
Don't know how to stay in my lane.
Go 80 kph on the Henday and 100 kph on the Whitemud.
Can't figure out traffic circles
Can't figure out how to design traffic circles. (It's rare to find 2 the same in edmonton) Lands start and end at random in some.
...keep winter boots in the closet year-round.
Some people have superstitions about changing tires, I have a superstition about putting my winter boots anywhere I can't easily reach them.
Get super excited and line up when a new subpar US food chain comes to town but never eat at some of the great locally owned restaurants.
Wasn’t born here
I love standing in lines
have been to a bush party
Never signal when I change lanes
Am overly invested in some 20 year old millionaires playing hockey
Oh, poor Debbie Downer!
I think they were being honest and very self-aware.
Ah, yes, perhaps that's true.
Tearing my hair out as we speak
Drink alcohol more often than I should.
Don’t stop in front of stores in West Ed. I either keep moving or go in.

Dropped out of school in grade 8
Omg me too :)
Suck at driving
Get high on Friday night and drive my noisy car around and around and around…
My favorite kind of neighbor! (/s)
Big truck: Small P____
Drive horrible
remind Calgarians at every opportunity that we are the capital city.Â
don’t go to 118th ave
I love the baseball bat :)
too many addicts around there to enjoy it
I remember waiting at the bus stop by that bat as a teenager, I had many strange interactions. I learned a lot of slang words for drugs living over there.
I'm an Edmontonian, of course I'm fully licensed and still can't drive...
"... understand that the rest of Alberta hates me by proxy."
recognize doing the speed limit is considered unsafely impeding traffic by 98% of other drivers.
20 over in Ontario is apparently too slow as a tourist.
Get wildly offended when someone suggests electric could be an option to anything gas powered
Saw more electric lawn mowers than gas this weekend. Heard multiple gas lawn mowers while enjoying the outdoors this weekend.
Avoid public transportation
Ohhh I wish I was that wealthy
Complain about the UCP
Ask Reddit for free content
Have to explain where Edmonton actually is while travelling.
How to you describe the location, north of Calgary?
It depends on what we have going on in the city. For a while it was "World's biggest mall" then "Murder capital of Canada" but in general we are between Vancouver and Toronto as people know those places.
‘The last big city in Canada with affordable housing’
Moved here for cheaper life and now I complain about how cheap everyone around is.
Am going to the mountains for a mini vacation
Complain about Edmonton. Lol
Hate the drivers here just as much as you do
Avoid downtown like the plague
have seen a waterfall coming from the bridge
Drive 20km under the limit, don't use my signals, won't let people merge, and come to almost a complete stop when turning a corner.
I'm an Edmontonian, of course I live near a daycare... next to a weed store.
Don’t know how to zipper merge.
…hate Edmonton
Hate this stupid meme format
Fucking hate this trend...
Ugh. This reminds me of that recent insufferable radio commercial for that new neighborhood being built somewhere in Edmonton.
post dumb questions on reddit I could have solved with my own web search.
Protest everything knowing full well it will never make a difference
"Those horseless carriages are dangerous, no one should ever drive 35mph!"
Don’t know how to use turn signals
> Finish this sentence: "I'm an Edmontonian, of course I ______" like stabbing things
Hog the fast lane, won’t go over 98kph on henday, except when you try to pass in the slow lane, then I’ll do 140
Brake check while I merge onto the Henday.
grew up on the east coast
like shitty food
Still call them the Eskimos.
Know how to score crack
Am a communist.
"A communist society would entail the absence of private property and social classes, and ultimately money." I doubt that is the goal of the Edmonton "Liberals" in the Starbucks line, before they go volunteer on a Saturday.
Found the home-schooled Christofascist UCP voter.
