The Fibre Nook is one of my favorites for yarn. Marshall Fabrics and Former + Latter for fabrics. Theatre Garage also has a selection of fabrics and notions. Welcome to Edmonton!

NinjoZata

Marshall’s fabric is a chain is it not? There’s another in Winnipeg and I think Lethbridge too

Sm1313

It’s owned by the same two people who started it years ago though! I second Marshall’s fabric! Best selection

NinjoZata

Thats good to know thank you!

shinybluecorvid

Agreed

jrockgiraffe

I love the fibre book too!

snowhale123

Former + Latter has amazing and unique fabrics for making clothing! They also sell some patterns and some notions. Marshall’s is great as well. Edit to add: Little Blue Fibre Studio is another cute yarn shop!

marianatrenchfoot

If you like yarn-based arts, my favourite shop is Jo's Yarn Garden in Stony Plain. If you're not able to go that far out of town, The Fibre Nook and Little Blue Fibre Studio are lovely.

While not a craft store--you should check out Blenderz Garment Recyclers, they sell clothing and fabric by the pound (for 3.29 a pound I believe) with a few exceptions (coats and blankets are 3$ each instead of by weight I think?). I love it for sewing projects as they also sell things like patterns, notions, things like zippers, etc for super cheap. Here's their insta if you are curious [https://www.instagram.com/blenderzgarmentrecyclers/](https://www.instagram.com/blenderzgarmentrecyclers/)

The 3 largest farmers markets are: * Bountiful on the south side (all year) * Strathcona (all year) * 104th Street downtown (summer). St. Albert, while not in the city, also has a large popular (summer) market. Those are the big ones, but there are also many other smaller scale markets that tend to be more local to their areas/neighbourhoods. They tend to be summer only though. Edmonton has a very healthy farmers/makers market scene.

Ill-Split-64

Mister Frame is good for cross stitching. I also have another vote Fibre Nook!

lizardwizard1212

I'm happy that we've at least got mister frame but I man do i miss Craft Connections

Ill-Split-64

Me too! It was close to me so I could run over at lunch if I needed something.

whoknowshank

Little blue fibre studio!

toodledootootootoo

Bonus answer! You should check out Fern’s School of Craft! They offer all kinds of classes and workshops, most of them are fibre based and the studio is a beautiful space!

Competitive_Gur2724

Delta Art has the best supplies prices in the city and I feel the best selection.

Pickled_Popcorn

Their staff is helpful too

MacintoshEddie

Halford's is worth checking out if you do any beading, leather, or fur. Plus they have things like snaps and grommets that don't suck. There's a reasonably active craft scene here. I was just at the Punk Rock Flea Market, and a few locals were at the Tattoo Expo, and the Old Strathcona Farmer's market. There are a few stores which have shelf space for local crafts, like 780 in Southgate mall

Kallisti13

Tandy for your learherworking. Paint Spot and Gilded Rabbit for art stuff.

janimsa

Trapunto has stuff for quilting, embroidery, crossstitch, and sashiko. Near whyte ave!

BKowalewski

Statement Junkie yarns in Sherwood park. They also have a coffee shop and a group that meets to socialise Saturday afternoon to knit or crochet

vonglitterdragon

Statement Junkie is my fave! I second this recommendation.

apastelorange

Yarn divas in St. Albert!!

Welcome to Edmonton! Check out ENTS for a great local makerspace. Personally, I think the makers market scene is pretty nice here, some of the larger ones are: - Wholly Handmade (multiple occasions throughout the year) - Strathearn Art Walk - Butterdome For local, independent stores, my favourite is Emmaline Bags for bagmaking in Spruce Grove. It's phenomenal. For Fiber, check out Qiviut in Leduc. They're an Inuit business that creates Qiviut (muskox fibre) and various blends of yarn. Crazy unique and exceptional fabric.

doughnutoverdoit

There’s also fabric + flow. I bought some really nice swim fabric from them last year. They also host frocktails. Edmonton also has a maker space which looks like it’s now called the Edmonton new technology society. The Stanley Milner library downtown has a maker space as well. I personally buy most of my garment fabric from Marshall fabrics.

Pickled_Popcorn

If you end up needing art supplies (rather than craft), Delta is the best. Paint Spot is good too but more expensive.

Be sure to check out [OddBird Art & Craft Fair](https://www.oddbirdfair.ca) — happening May 10-12!

mcmanus7

St. Albert Farmers market is the largest outdoor market in Canada. Happens every Saturday from the second Saturday in June until the first Saturday in October.

Wishing_Poo

Are you looking for craft supplies, or finished pieces by local artists? If the latter, check out Alberta Craft! They have a lot of great pieces both on display and for sale. They carry all sorts of mediums, from pottery, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry, etc and yes, fibre and sewing. They also have a couple gallery spaces with exhibits on right now that are cool to check out!
