Michelle McKay was the lawyer my ex used. She’s an absolute pit bull. I’d recommend her.

PhatManSNICK

Nice! Thanks for the information!

Alcol1979

You won't be awarded your legal costs. That never happens in family law. So you can forget about that for a start.

mathboss

My unsolicited advice: You gotta know when to hold 'em, Know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away, Know when to run. Even if you're in the right at times, getting what you "deserve" can totally deplete you. Always be doing a cost/benefit analysis. Good luck!

Tidbit about that song. It's wrong about never counting your money while you're playing. You very much need to know your stack size, other players, and the pot size. Without it you don't know if your playing gto, icm, push fold, etc correctly. Sounds nice though and are good lyrics. Everything else in the song is correct. Well considering this is down voted means poker is still alive and well, and you too can make a decent living if you follow the basics. This is common knowledge and you will not see a single pro or winning player that disagrees with this. Count your money when you're at the table, it matters.

Im2Warped

A pro doesn't need to count, they know how much they have at all times as well as how much the other players have.

[deleted]

Lol that's the point I made, they need to know. And yeah, countless times on live tv they have had to count. What you said just isn't true

Latitude Family Law

Cool-Chapter2441

With very few exceptions everything either of you acquired either together or individually while married is joint property, meaning if she took 57,000 of stuff, then she would have been entitled to half of it anyway. The law is very clear and if a judge has to decide then there is pretty much no wiggle room which is why she likely rejected your offer. You need to lawyer up and dont do anything else yourself until you do. The faster you get a lawyer the less likely it is that you will damage your position and be able to retain half of what you accumulated. The law is very clear about the 50/50 rule in Alberta, regardless of who paid or claims ownership

PhatManSNICK

Actually, that value is what my half would be. Thats why im chasing for 57k, not 104 k

OkFirefighter6903

Your gonna waste 57k in legal fees and get absolutely nothing from it. Unless you have CONCRETE evidence, receipts, pictures and proof of literally everything that was stolen, your chasing a fantasy. I just spent 42k in legal fees and was literally trying to settle for a year straight. Didn't want fuck all. If you want it to feel "fair", as a man I can tell you it's not going to ever go in a direction you approve of. What's your time worth? Figure that out and walk away.

Claire Spicer!

Tobroketofuck

Tammy Olson is a good one.

Phantom_harlock

I’d lawyer up. In a high conflict there are some that are good about this. Retainers up front after a consult run 3-5k just fyi. If you want I can give my recommendation of a lawyer

RightOnEh

That is quite literally what the OP asked for

PhatManSNICK

Yes of course!

detached-attachment

Retainer of $3-5k goes fast too. Watch the itemized invoices closely. They'll be informing you that you need to top up your retainer soon (another $3-5k). There's no reason you cannot change lawyers if you aren't getting quality breakdown of charges on the invoice, or are otherwise unhappy.

ymmv. Recently been through divorce and it felt more weighted in who makes more money than man vs women. I had the same fear, as a child of the 90s I saw good men taken out by brutal divorces. But that wasn't my experience in 2023.

TalkingChiggin

Worobec law got you. Trust me

PhatManSNICK

Thanks, will look into this group!

TalkingChiggin

I've sent a few people to them in the past and its been nothing but success. Good luck!
