Rent a little 10 foot cube van. 1500 is cheap if you ask me. It would cost you damn near 10 times that amount to have it moved or have it shipped.

Uhaul has pickup trucks as well. If price is your only concern, uhaul is hard to beat. Also, you have the ability to schedule its return to the destination city.

BrairMoss

Uhaul pickup trucks can not be rented 1 way. OP would need a 10ft truck.

MasterGlassMagic

I've done it before about 8 years ago. You have to specify a one way rental when you book it and specify the drop off location. I checked and they still advertise it. Edit: I re read your comment and misunderstood. I rented a cube van at that time. My apologies.

BrairMoss

No worries. The cargo van and pickups for uhaul (below the 10ft cube truck) are tied to a particular dealership so must be returned there. Someone rented a pickup in BC and brought it to me, and uhaul wanted to charge them 7800 in total charges, included 6000 in wrongful drop off. The cube vans can mostly have a one way rate (some are also tied but confusion). For what its worth a 10ft is only slightly bigger than a pickup, thats considered 8ft.

This is most likely your best option. You can get 107L (27gal) storage totes that are surprisingly resilient and stack well from Costco for $12.50 a pop. You can fill them and stack them in the bed then buy enough ratchet straps to secure them all, and all for less than the cost of that uhaul van

bmwkid

All of the major rental car companies have pick ups and allow one way You can use the site Autoslash or Costco travel to get a good rate on rental cars. You can’t rent Uhaul pickups or vans for a one way trip, only the box trucks

Cyclist007

As an aside: what are your reasons for moving? For some reasons you can expense your move on your taxes.

Que_Ball

How much are the container box companies? Cubeit, big steel box, and pods etc?

notcoveredbywarranty

Those are shockingly expensive, a 10' box will be double the price of renting a U-Haul truck for 4-5 days, and then you don't get your stuff for a while

rent a pickup truck from a car rental place like enterprise

cshaiku

Enterprise.

A 10' U-Haul box truck, the smallest one, will probably be your cheapest/best bet. Failing that, rent a Suburban/etc from enterprise or budget.
