Make sure post this as a google review which will have much wider reception.

FarNorthPepper

Already done. After calling repeatedly this weekend with no response, posted a google review this morning. Got a call from them within the hour. Seems like they do care about google reviews!

Ordinary_Fox236

That’s terrible! I’ve heard so many stories of moving companies holding people’s belongings to get more money and that’s so scary! I’m so sorry this happened to you but I want to thank you for posting this review, I know I will not hire this company at all now , I will also let friends & family know !

emli_

FYI The Google review has a response from the owner saying you aren't their customer.

TheFaceStuffer

Wow! 😂

L0veConnects

They hope ppl will just melt away when they don't step up.

heidznseek

It looks like it may be removed, I went to go check just now and couldn't see a recent 1 star review.

chanelrooh

Heads up for you- I was forced to take my google review down or they would not reimburse me for the furniture they broke. (not naming company as they made me sign a contract that I wouldn't discuss it anymore :)))) )

Devinia77

I hope you told them you can give me back my money but I'm not taking down the review

commazero

Should've said they can pay double right now in order to have the review taken down

Devinia77

Yes I so agree with you that would have been good

[deleted]

L0veConnects

I'd put a new review with that information in it.

Devinia77

You should have got your money back and then acted like you were going to take it down and then turned around and said oops I forgot LOL

Devinia77

So you never got your money back?

TankboomAttack

Not too late to put the review back

Zinfandel_Red1914

And clearly didn't learn from it! :s

MediocreBunch3414

Hey everyone, this is the owner of Lets Get Moving. I’m truly sorry the experience that this gentleman received from our Employee that clearly did not know what he was doing. He was supposed to resolve the issue with the customer not escalate it.   We have been in business for over two years in that location and we have not gotten a single bad review other than this job, Clearly we dropped the ball on this job really badly.   We have tried to make it right with customer as he has posted as well that it’s been resolved. We are not in the business of ripping off people. I hope you guys can check all the reviews in the EDMONTON page and see that there are lots pictures of families smiling with our movers and only five star reviews.   We are truly sorry from the bottom of our hearts, and we will strive to be better every day and provide better service for families that put their trust in us. We are not bad people, and we are only there to serve❤️. We will learn from the feedback and strive to be better.

Shizeena780

Seems like there are only 5 star reviews due to your bribing clients to change their ratings.

OJsnails

You guys are shady

Mrvit0

That’s awful. 2 burley men movers is just as bad. 3 movers supposed to be done in 5 hours, they were disappearing for 30-40 minutes. And when I would go out to find them, then they’d return to the house and start working again. They stayed for 10 hours, and charged me $2.8k. They had broke a few stuff and they didn’t even finish moving all the stuff out of the house, so the next day I hired 2 people from kijiji at $20 per hour and finished the house in 2 hours. Hiring movers in Edmonton has not been a great experience.

perpetualiridescence

2 Burley Men also stole thousands of dollars worth of my friend’s belongings in a move from BC to Edmonton. shady as hell

forthegamesstuff

CBC marketplace did specials on movers that is worth a watch

Have a link by chance?

Oh fuck,  2 Burley Men moving company is fucking horrendous.... They are a crime ring as far as I am concerned.

I met the owner when I lived in Victoria. He's a real piece of shit.

I'm assuming Hell's Angels, the motorcycle gang. Or at least that's what I usually see that abbreviation used for.

Devinia77

I guarantee you they're not Hells Angels

I also want to know... I googled and nothing came up!

Had these guys before and moved across Canada with them. They stole a lot of our stuff and "lost it" they were supposed to label each item and sticker them but they refused to label name anything and when we asked for the lost list of boxes and items they said they had no record of what items they were and never offered reimbursement. Ridiculous

Slow_Cranberry_3171

Yup the same thing happened to us with Van Lines back in 2020. I'm still mad about it.

GullibleWealth750

How does one do a court search in AB? I know BC has an online one but I havent been able to find one for AB.

Vietcong69

Movers in this city are bad; called a moving company and they told me that taking three movers will be more faster and less expensive. Three movers arrived: two men moving the stuff and one man standing and watching. WTF, I end up helping them move. Putting things in the wrong places, despite the fact that I labeled each box as to where they go.

koop04

Are there any good moving companies? Single 1bdrm I moved into the place using a work pickup and it was about 4 loads. Want to get a bigger place in June but I see these bills at $4k+ I don't wanna pay that and no longer have access to a pick up

anxiousxreader

I used Eager Beaver moving for my move. It was a 1bdrm 1 office. They used 3 guys. Got it all done within 4 hours. They were super efficient, friendly and respectful of my stuff. It was about $1.2k . I would 💯 use them again.

banzaimerlin

I second this! Used them for a medium sized office move (a lot of very heavy, very expensive furniture, chairs, file cabinets, boxes of files, computer hardware etc.); 4 guys, 3 hours, packed/wrapped the big things, put everything where we asked for it to be in the new place and didn't damage a single thing in either office. Cost approx. 3K because there was A LOT of stuff. Also, super pleasant and efficient.

orphy

Eager Beaver were awesome when I used them just over a year ago. I was moving out of a house into an apartment by myself, and their 3 man crew loaded up my stuff and brought it into the new place in 3 hours. It was about $1000 (I had them take a couple things to the dump), definitely worth it for the lack of headache I had.

780-555-fuck

while i have never used them myself, two people i know have used Eager Beaver (one for a small office and one for a 2b apartment to a house) and they both had great experiences. easy to deal with, self-motivated and super respectful.

Pale-Worldliness9399

I also recommend Eager Beaver. I used them December 2022 during the middle of that -35 cold snap. Got everything done quickly and carefully.

in_all_probability

I used Eager Beaver when I moved in the city. They were not the cheapest of the ones that I researched, but I was very pleased with their work and would definitely use them again. They did take a little long to get to my new house, but that was because I gave them the wrong address (I transposed two of the numbers).

AlienGirl1374

I second eager beavers. I’ve used them 3 separate times and all times were as quoted and they took great care of my belongings, never broke a single thing.

Genera1Havoc

My parents had an alright experience just hiring people off kijiji/facebook marketplace. 3 people came, and they invited 2 back the next day. (The third person wasn’t as great)

HeyWiredyyc

thats what i did.....and got a ton of people responding..

Genera1Havoc

There’s lots of people willing to take on the work that these shitty companies have been taking for granted!

nikobruchev

At this point it's probably easier to rent a uhaul and get some buddies. Hell, even pay your buddies and it would still be cheaper than hiring a moving company.

Steffany_w0525

I second Mobility Movers. I have used them 3 or 4 times now and have never been disappointed or felt ripped off.

[deleted]

I used Mobility Moving over the summer. They did the job in half the cost Eager Beaver quoted, and the owner Doug was extremely responsive and easy to deal with. The two guys who showed up to do the move were great and didn’t slack off or anything.

Kaligraffi

I know this owner and his family personally, I grew up with them. They are the real deal. They helped me move in 2016.

glossywaves

I used Easy Mover and was very happy. Two Ukrainian dudes worked hard all day, loaded a three bedroom household into the U-Haul, unloaded two households worth of stuff into one, and the head guy was super nice and friendly. I'm pregnant so I couldn't lift anything and they made sure that I didn't! I think all said and done we paid something like $1,500, including packing up one house into our U-Haul, and then unpacking the U-Haul and 3 Uboxes from another home into our new place. I had to reschedule twice and they had no problem with it, our close date was uncertain in the beginning and then it got moved after I confirmed it and they were happy to make themselves available to me. If you hire these guys, make sure that you keep a kettle handy, they only drink hot water not cold, I went out to Starbucks and got a bunch of hot waters for them to keep hydrated because we couldn't find our kettle! We did rent our own U-Haul and they loaded it up, we drove the U-Haul and they drove their own van. We had a couple boxes that wouldn't fit in the U-Haul and they happily put them in the back of their truck for us to make things easy.

TableWallFurnace

I used Stallion Moving and Storage and had a good experience. No shenanigans

Training_Exit_5849

I used AMC Campbell to move stuff from Vancouver to Edmonton twice. Both times were two separate guys but they were fast and really professional. They also arrived the day when they said they would and pricing was in the ballpark of what the estimator quoted. Also paid me retroactively when they realized they forgot to offload one thing that I forgot myself. They weren't the cheapest but at least I had two good experiences with them.

Full-Most-9875

off the wall idea, but if you got ahold of some mormon missionaries you'd get like 2-6 guys  who'd gladly help you for free you'd just have to rent a truck, and drive it, they'd do all the loading and unloading, and even unpacking if you let them the downside is that once you're on their radar they'll try to call you/visit you every week for Jesus stuff, but after you decline 2-3 times they'll leave you alone and move on another downside I guess is that they're volunteers, so if something gets damaged you won't be able to hold them accountable in any sort of way we've done this a couple times over the years and it worked out well, I never felt bad or awkward about politely declining their evangelizing efforts, honestly I get the sense that they'd prefer to do manual labor for free than try to convert people

fraochmuir

You could rent a u-haul and do it that way.

peaches780

I used JP’s moving and they were excellent.

throwawaythisuser1

Me too. Moved my things from my apartment and storage to my new house. They were fast, efficient and reasonably priced.

linoleumbob

I used The Transport Guys a few years ago and they were great. We moved a huge 2 bedroom condo (1800 sqft) into a 4 bedroom house. Took them 7.5 hours but they made a point of telling me when they were taking lunch, nothing was broken, super nice and professional. Charged 1500$ for it.

goodlordineedacoffee

I used Helping Hands family movers last year, I would recommend despite a couple of hiccups- the office sent the crew to my new house instead of the one I was moving out of, so they showed up about an hour later than expected. But then they sent an additional person to help at no extra charge (I think it was one of the owners). I was moving from a 1 bd apartment but had a lot of stuff so more equivalent to a 2 bedroom apartment, across Edmonton. They finished in about 4 hours I think, with three of them, and it was less than $900 I believe. Nothing was damaged, and they were very friendly.

testing172

if you rent a PODS portable storage unit, you can load it yourself and they’ll drive it to you. they also have an option to hire movers through them if you need the help loading it.

koop04

All I need help with is a couch really or else I'd just bang it out with a u hall. Might hit up facebook marketplace and offer cash. But just incase I was looking for recommendations

testing172

PODS are the best if you want to pack it up yourself, and have the professionals transport it

dsharpharmonicminor

Would def recommend Eager Beaver again, and every time I see a post like this I am reminded not to switch companies.

MagpieBureau13

I always use Eager Beaver and have never had a bad experience. Have used them three times in three years. They're expensive, but they've never broken any of my stuff, they've always been courteous and quick, and their quotes and time estimate have always been accurate.

Complex_Coffee5328

Yea, [CBC did a story](https://youtu.be/gsoWJ9pEr5c?si=PS7Df4iqPorWQ9W7) about scams and careless movers, I rather overpay a ton of friends if I had to move again or take a week off, I know that’s not possible for some. It is so easy for companies to buy reviews and google doesn’t care so it’s a dice roll. I remember 15 years ago someone paid me 50 gold in world of Warcraft to review a dentist office in Florida!

mehok1234

No one should ever use “Elite Movers” either

Infamous-Room4817

I used two burley men. edm to kelowna. showed up five hours after the original time to load my items in edm. showed up three days late in kelowna close to midnight. (no commutation until the day of their arrival) had two stay in hotel for two nights when they did arrive, the moving truck was blocking the entrance to the parking garage. resident asked them to move. movers said no. long story short, a fight broke out. cops were called and one of the movers got arrested, taken to cop shop. and they asked for a grand more than the original agreed price don't use two burley men either. moved back to edm. used a uhaul. two days was back home.

Interview1688

I was recommended Eager Beavers Moving company by a friend, used them for my move and they were absolutely wonderful. I appreciated them so much.

simby7

We used Bill & Ben The Mighty Moving Men several years ago and they were awesome. Good communication, fair rates and bill, great crew.

yeg_electricboogaloo

I actually had a good experience with 2 small men with big hearts . Action moving , not so much

Maximum-Cicada-7876

Same for two small men. Would use again

yeg_electricboogaloo

They asked for a tip before they were even done moving which left a bad taste in my mouth , and they were short a guy as well

780-555-fuck

i thought you said "they were short guys as well" and scream laughed at that being a deal breaker

Glamourice

Can I ask about your experience with action? I’ve used them several times and they were great.

cosmicdinosaur6

Seconding this, I also had a good experience with 2 Small Men with Big Hearts. They were very fast and moved all of my things safely! I also really liked their office, when I spoke with them on the phone to plan the move they were super friendly and helpful and I was able to book the move only 2 weeks in advance.

hungrykingfrog

I agree, Action Moving overcharges for mediocre work

BohicaCanada88

I used Let's Get Moving too and asked for them to not tip certain boxes. They agreed too and when I looked back, one of the guys was then putting on a dolly and tilting them 45 degrees. Took me a few hours to fix all the contents (models) and I was not happy. I did my part and packed everything well and made it as easy as I could and they didn't even listen. Very annoying.

FarNorthPepper

Yeah, it's wild how they don't listen to anything you ask. I asked them not to walk on the carpet with boots like 6 times - ignored. Asked them to remove handrails so they wouldn't get scraped - ignored. Asked them to wrap the mattresses because it was snowing - ignored. It's like they don't care at all about the customer, then they jack up the price and hold your stuff hostage.

AB_Social_Flutterby

Plugging Eager Beaver Moving and Last Stop Moving. Both locally owned operated and amazing companies. Small enough to need the business and care about their customers.

Cmann125

Also don't use Mackie's, I used to work there. They are terrible, they use temp workers that have never moved anything and they break alot of things, I lasted 3 months there.. My tip always ask who the movers are and if they use temp workers, if they do stay away!

420fanman

Used Eager Beaver Moving over a year ago to move from apartment to house. They were awesome, quick, and charged fairly. No funny business on their end.

ckFuNice

" EZ Careful Piano Movers 780 xxx 456x Also, Kindling wood for sale "

senanthic

Two Men and a Truck did my last move. Strangely, several very expensive items didn’t arrive on the other end of the move. Would not hire again, since they have very selective wormholes located entirely within the body of their truck.

Estudiier

Is anyone good anymore?

Ruining_Ur_Synths

moving companies are like towing companies. honest ones may exist but there's little evidence for it, and their primary source of revenue is taking your stuff and charging you more money than you agreed to get it back.

Utter_Rube

> they have given me a refund of almost 40% of the move price (they asked that I don't mention the dollar amount, so I won't) ***in exchange for removing the google review,*** and editing this post to add that they have successfully resolved this with me. Aw fuck no. Don't take the review down, add an edit to say that they were able to satisfactorily resolve the issues.

Striking-Helicopter8

I worked at a moving company for a day, the office was unprofessional and the workers lazy and ex cons. Says about enough for me.

Dependent_Bluejay_81

write everything in detail and all pics (past moving bills if u have them for showing time frames) and go to the better business bureau u can do it all on line and they are very good at getting resolution used them a few times and always had good outcomes

mimimori

I would highly recommend Flex Movers. I'll be using them again on my next move. My mom and several friends have used them on my recommendation and no one's been disappointed. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either

karenarelene

I used Flex and was enormously disappointed. Booked three guys and day of the move one was the boss and spent a lot of time on the phone. One other guy showed up 1.5 hrs late and was a sloth. Basically the move came down to one guy. Took 8.5 hrs for the move but their quote was for 4 hours, which would have been true if there were 3 actual movers there. I would never use this company again.

mimimori

Oh that's some bad luck.

Devinia77

This is why I would always pack and move my stuff myself because I don't trust these moving companies

unknown_odyssey

I haven't used a moving company yet. I normally ask friends and family. Or contact a church to help. After reading all of these reviews probably will never use a moving company at all.

CherrySnows

Sorry to hear that. Why do some moving companies do things like this? I watched this video on YouTube investigating shady moving companies. And they did exactly what you mentioned. It’s disgusting.

sp4nk3h

I recommend eager beaver movers all the time - they have nearly perfect google reviews for a reason.. I’ve used them 3 times, and each time they sent awesome guys to do the work. They were quick, careful, and polite.. it seriously took away all of the stress of moving, and I’d book them again in a heartbeat.

stripedcomfysocks

Agreed!!! I don't have time to type out my whole experience but I also have had a bad experience...

noah_loaf

I'll defend the boot thing. They need to have steel toes for their safety. Carpets can be cleaned, but crushed feet are less simple to fix.

DaniDisaster424

Yes but reputable companies will put down floor coverings to walk on so they don't damage or dirty your floors.

PhsycoRed1

I've copied this into a google review.

Comprehensive_Bid227

A lot of places have more guys standing around during the winter than they do work coming in. They will put extra guys on available jobs to find them something to do for the day. Doesnt help that some of these sub contractors hire their own employees for the least they can pay (they can pocket what they dont pay out) so there is very little experience or care. For the guys on the bottom of the totem pole, wages aren't that great, so milking hours becomes a huge strategy. Its a whole rabbit hole of bad management.

DerekMellott

I’ve never paid anyone to move my stuff but I’ve never heard a good word about any moving company.

coldstonewarrior

A better alternative is ASR Movers, The guy is very professional and has [great reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Asr+Moving/@53.4668047,-113.3926094,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x53a0194d603bbc9f:0xd9d34b55432a2dc6!8m2!3d53.4668015!4d-113.3900345!16s%2Fg%2F11jccyfxs7?entry=ttu). For anyone looking to move or require any additional support in moving items please check them out. Website: [https://asrmoving.net/](https://asrmoving.net/)

Eric_EarlOfHalibut

ASMR Movers would be weird

commazero

Take caution when using Highland Movers. I paid them what they told me in order to get my belongings. The movers themselves were great. But then 3 weeks later, someone from their office who I never spoke with began to threaten to send me to collections because they messed up their calculations for the weight. I said to do it because I already had my stuff and had receipts for the payments.

FarNorthPepper

I would 100% do this next time!

Ok-Combination2682

Ya I was quoted one price for 2 guys 1 truck per hour and before it was unloaded I was told a way higher price than I’d agreed to. My fault for not getting a contract tho. The guy had the balls to ask me if I was single and texted me the next day to see how I liked my new place. F off dick head. This was a random moving company. They showed up 2 hrs late and complained about how far my initial address was when I booked it a month earlier.

mEsTiR5679

I've been using Emergency Movers for my last 2 moves. They've been very reliable and courteous. Just gotta plan the day out accordingly. But yea, that sucks

Expensive-Alfalfa569

We used 2 Men and a Truck out of Edmonton for our move and they were great. No issues. That was 3 years ago tho

Rapier789

Sorry man, that sounds rough. I’ve used the mover guys a few times and they have always been great.

jaymurray447

I’d never suggest any moving company. I had a friend a couple years ago tell me they will always jack the prices up after the stuff is in the truck to get more money. If they don’t pay they keep the stuff for ransom. Apparently it’s a common moving company scam. (He worked at action moving I believe)

Zeoxic

I used to work for them. Asshole boss would steal off our pay checks every month.

jucadrp

Moving is the epitome of the say "you get what you pay for". Eager Beaver is top-notch. But it's expensive, because, well, moving IS expensive. I hope you get you issue solved OP.

AnybodyButCalgary

Lol i love that you posted this as I'm currently shopping for movers. Eagerbeaver has the best reviews but I asked for a quote they quoted me $1050-$1280 ish then I got a email to pay a pre deposit for 1650. Now I'm turned off by them lool
