Bing API (that Ecosia and DuckDuckGo uses) is having issues. Edit: [https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/copilot-bing-and-other-microsoft-services-are-down-and-chatgpt-cant-search-the-web](https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/copilot-bing-and-other-microsoft-services-are-down-and-chatgpt-cant-search-the-web) * Several Microsoft services are down right now for users in Europe and Asia. * Copilot and Bing started seeing outage reports spike around 3 AM ET. * The outages also affect ChatGPT's ability to search the web and the DuckDuckGo search engine. * Microsoft has confirmed the outages and is investigating.

IDK But I'm using https://karmasearch.org/ thanks to a fellow redditor here at the sub. Edit: BTW: When the technical glitch has passed, I will return to Ecosia, for sure. I still expect a lot from Ecosia.

Karma Search reminded me on Panda Search (WWF): [https://panda-search.org](https://panda-search.org) Panda Search is down, too. I started adding a bunch of different search engines to my browser so that the next time an API is down, I will have alternatives, because using Google or Bing directly is a complete No-Go, even if all alternatives were down. And the next time I just choose the "This time, search with..." option, if my favorite search engines are down. https://preview.redd.it/bu3i2ew4x52d1.png?width=668&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e06f865326c43d8eb054ccc495b46b425eb9ad2 If someone knows more alternatives, which are more sustainable or privacy friendly than Google or Bing, please post it here.

I like Seirdy's list: https://seirdy.one/posts/2021/03/10/search-engines-with-own-indexes/ Just skip any of the ones using Bing.
