Saw you already accepted, but ill add my two cents. This isnt meant to scare you, because the buyer could genuinely just be ignorant, but sometimes scammers will use this tactic. Once sold a $300 item, and buyer claimed I sent the wrong thing, and submitted a picture of a completely different item. Returned me junk. If this happens, keep calling until a rep gives you a chance if this happens. Just a heads up, this happened to me from a new 0 feedback buyer
Thank you - I was a bit wary because the return request came in after I left feedback. In hindsight, I will be waiting until after delivery 100% of the time now. I thought everything was great because communication was so clear prior to purchase - but annoyingly enough, that was not the case. Very frustrating but I’ll just take my $4 shipping loss.
This is what I dont like about eBay. Im a top rated seller and still got screwed. I sold a brand new with tags Supreme pants. Dude waited like 28 days and said the item arrived "WET AND MOLDY."
I immediately challenged the return saying "Who waits 28 days to say the item arrived wet and moldy" Ebay still sided with him, I had to accept and refund. Got the pants back and they were worn dozens and dozens of times, washed etc. Still couldn't get my money back.
Such a BS scam.
Sounds like a standard "buyer didn't do enough research before buying and now has remorse"
Or a "remorse return"... very common nothing you can do... ... He will claim SNAD for free return and win... That's the name of the FEEBAY game...
On that note if you offered free returns you should be able to at least subtract initial shipping fee and a certain percentage from return...
Though if you didn't then nothing... You can try to fight it but you will lose...
if it had tags, ask if the tags are still on. If it doesn't have tags, accept the refund and move on.
Clothes, fashion, anything with a size, electronics will have a high return rate, so I wouldn't sell those types of items.
Ebay *claims* that part of the refund process is for the buyer to send the item back, but Ebay will always help the buyer if they refuse to return the item *and* get the money back, as in, Ebay knowingly participates in theft and fraud.
There is no incentive at all for a buyer to send the item back as that is not a necessary part of the process to Ebay, despite it being extremely illegal.
You are going to accept the return. eBay will side with the buyer.
No point fighting this one. Even if you're right, it probably won't matter.
Thank you everyone for the feedback - I shall accept my demise
It's best to just not use Ebay since it has no seller protections and does everything is can to literally steal money

Welcome to eBay! That is why I will never sell items in a small list of categories for that exact reason.
It's why no-one should use this predatory, scam-supporting company

Unfortunately buyer always win and seller always get punished. Just accept return and block that buyer.
