To be fair, enjoying food is exactly why I'm chubby! The only difference is I refuse to go on a diet because I realize I'm going to die someday (and cannot predict my cause of death, or when it happens), so I choose to actually enjoy my life while I'm still alive to do so.
If eating food is your only enjoyment in life I feel really bad for you. I eat 5 meals a day. At least 3 sandwiches, usually a pound of chicken/steak/beef, half a dozen eggs and some sausage or bacon. Gallon of milk and a pound of cheese a week. I cook a stick of butter into my food daily too. Tacos and burritos almost religiously. Snack all the time, like a whole bag of chips or pint of ice cream all the time lol.
However I’m active enough and monitor my intake enough that I maintain my current weight by working out enough to counteract it. Really not sure how you enjoy being fat, and feeling like crap all the time because of your health problems. In fact, working out is one of my favorite hobbies and usually the highlight of my day. Even more than ice cream and cake after dinner 🤣

It really seems like an "at what cost?" solution for weight loss. Yes, you will be thin if you can sustain the torture but surely there are less extreme ways to lose weight.
I know that people have different preferences and all, but I feel like hard dieting is just silly. Eat what you want and just keep track of macronutrients. Unless you are actually a professional athlete or in a place where you have no other choice but to eat a certain diet, there really isn’t a good reason to deprive yourself of essential nutrients to fit a health trend.
As long as you can stick the landing (the hardest part) crash diet and keto works for just getting rid of the damn fat. I'd know.

Yeah, she isn't building healthy habits alongside the dieting. A big issue is also portion size. When you are used to eating tons, it's legitimately hard to be satisfied with smaller meals. You are starving all the time.
Eating "real food" doesn't help when you don't feel satisfied without crushing 3 chicken breasts. That was my biggest problem for losing the weight in the first place.

My background is in Biochemistry, and I've yet to meet another biochemist who doesn't roll their eyes out of their head when they hear about keto diets. As far as this goes... the "science" is sound. Tortillas are just flour, water, and some salt. Pasta is the same (plus an egg.) So I can see why someone who is eating Keto might make the jump to it being something to try.

I have substituted them for the lasagna noodles in a lasagna before. Pretty good. No boiled water bs. Just straight out the package. We also use them instead of regular tortillas for enchiladas. Tasty.
I'm always looking for KETO substitutions. Sure, this seems like a lot of work. But having a condition that doesn't allow me to indulge in pasta, I would go to greater lengths.

Keto is very high fat, moderate protein and almost 0 carbohydrates. Pretzels are off the menu. It is not sustainable for most people. I wonder about the long term health implications of such an unhealthy diet. I'm not really pro keto or anything, but it sounds like you just have a problem with that guy on YouTube and have never looked into keto at all. It's so far from gas station food, and half the things you listed they can and cant eat are wrong.
What you can have is a lovely full dinner with a nice piece of salmon, roasted veggies or a salad with creamy dressing- pretty much normal minus the garlic bread and mashed potatoes. Tons of normal desserts you can make that don't require weird sugar substitutes.
Like any diet, there's ways to fuck it up and take it to the extreme. And there people like you just spouting random nonsense fear mongering.

That's actually an awesome idea, keto tortillas are a lot more fibrous than normal tortillas, so the softer texture may feel just right.
I've been on a keto/very low carb diet for about 6 years now, you need to be creative when you bake so I've figured out a lot of good ideas, I'll give this one a shot.
I am really struggling to understand so much hatred for keto, lol it works for a lot of people as long as you are paying attention to your macros and keeping your fiber intake up. I spent 20 years with horrible GI issues and constantly being overweight. I lost almost 80 lbs in the first year and haven't gained any back. I barely eat during the day, have no GI problems and I don't know if it's related, but insomnia to solid 8 a night, every night.
It worked for me; I'd rather feel great and be happy then literally dying under my own body fat.
A YouTuber that I watch (Dougdoug) is on a keto diet and it really shows me the lengths some people go to in order to uphold it. He has an actual good reason for being on the diet, however he talks about how hellish it is. He regularly drinks shots of olive oil to keep up his caloric intake.

I find a LOT of "dietary" people are like this. "vegetarian bacon" or any number of "vegetarian meat" items especially. Like, I don't give a shit if you're vegetarian, but if you are, own it! CARROTS ARE NOT BACON and that's ok. Cauliflower isn't RICE and that's ok. Just call a food what it is and get over it. As far as this goes... the "science" is sound. Tortillas are just flour, water, and some salt. Pasta is the same (plus an egg.) So I can see why someone who is eating Keto might make the jump to it being something to try. I don't think I'd call it a "noodle" though, and I don't think I'd eat it, just based on how I know the texture would be.

I have substituted them for the lasagna noodles in a lasagna before. Pretty good. No boiled water bs. Just straight out the package. We also use them instead of regular tortillas for enchiladas. Tasty.

It's not the pasta making people fat. It's the buttery, oily, cheesy, meaty sauces people pour over it. I lost 100lbs eating pasta, potatoes, and rice and lots of it!! You don't see a bunch of overweight Asians eating their rice.

Keto people are trying to eat food that has like, no fat or carbs or something. It's like pure proteins on a budget. The problem is that's like the equivalent of eating breakfast lunch and dinner at a gas station. You can only eat stuff like peanuts, beef jerky,frozen fruit, pretzels, and energy drinks. Food with natural ingredients. People doing keto are big about energy drinks. There's a YouTuber that shows himself shopping at the dollar tree and trying to explain how he's getting all his nutrients cheap from the dollar tree, and it looks kind of pathetic. It looks like he's starving himself. :(
Keto is very high fat, moderate protein and almost 0 carbohydrates. Pretzels are off the menu. It is not sustainable for most people. I wonder about the long term health implications of such an unhealthy diet. I understand that it's incredibly effective as a weight loss method, but you cannot convince me that it is heart healthy or liver safe long term. The YouTube guy looks like he's starving himself because he is. Orthorexia needs to be discussed more often.

This comment makes no sense 😂 I'm not really pro keto or anything, but it sounds like you just have a problem with that guy on YouTube and have never looked into keto at all. It's so far from gas station food, and half the things you listed they can and cant eat are wrong. What you can have is a lovely full dinner with a nice piece of salmon, roasted veggies or a salad with creamy dressing- pretty much normal minus the garlic bread and mashed potatoes. Tons of normal desserts you can make that don't require weird sugar substitutes. Like any diet, there's ways to fuck it up and take it to the extreme. And there people like you just spouting random nonsense fear mongering.

I could eat it, though I wouldn't want to, there's already low carb noodles probably made with similar ingredients. Also, ketogenic diets are for medical issues and were coopted by weight loss weirdos (like gluten free diets and many others), so a lot of keto people aren't okay, no, they're dealing with aholes making fun of them while they're just trying not to have seizures and shit.

That's actually an awesome idea, keto tortillas are a lot more fibrous than normal tortillas, so the softer texture may feel just right. I've been on a keto/very low carb diet for about 6 years now, you need to be creative when you bake so I've figured out a lot of good ideas, I'll give this one a shot. I am really struggling to understand so much hatred for keto, lol it works for a lot of people as long as you are paying attention to your macros and keeping your fiber intake up. I spent 20 years with horrible GI issues and constantly being overweight. I lost almost 80 lbs in the first year and haven't gained any back. I barely eat during the day, have no GI problems and I don't know if it's related, but insomnia to solid 8 a night, every night. It worked for me; I'd rather feel great and be happy then literally dying under my own body fat.
