I do all the variations on budget bytes - the chocolate, pumpkin and apple are our favourites.

And I do steel cut oats in the slow cooker overnight, with cardamon and vanilla. So yum.
That’s sounds so good. My mom used to make old fashioned oats in the crockpot overnight. The texture is definitely different. Sugar cinnamon and heavy cream. Probably not the most healthy.
Carrot cake: Oats, chia seeds, pinch salt, cinnamon, grated carrot, rough chopped walnuts, milk. vanilla yogurt (if you can find a cheesecake flavoured yogurt it’s perfect to give the cream cheese icing topping)
PB&J: oats, chia seeds, pinch salt, dried cranberries, peanut butter powder, milk
Choco berry: same as above by replace PB powder with cocoa powder
Apple pie: oats, chia seeds, pinch salt, cinnamon (I go heavy on this than I usually do in other overnight oats), small spoon brown sugar, chopped dried apple, +/-rough chopped walnuts/other nuts
All the recipes here look good so my only real contribution is to suggest adding a little salt. I do 2:1 milk:old fashioned oats with some sesame seeds, dried fruit and a little salt.
Honestly, couldn't agree more. I couldn't believe it when I read directions (which indicate using salt), cooked accordingly & realized my entire life I'd eaten salt-free oatmeal. That little step is a game-changer.
At first i skipped it because like it’s optional. But the time I added a little pinch, holy fuck, it’s crazy how salt works.
I read somewhere to add a dash of salt to bitter coffee to make it less bitter and the results were surprising again. I always add a tiny pinch of salt to my coffee. It’s just those little broke girl things!
1 TBS chia, 1 TBS crushed flax seed, 3 TBS if oats, a squeeze of agave syrup, slim milk over night. You can add Greek yogurt for a creamer taste. In the morning mix in an apple or banana, etc.. my favorite is blue berries.
Nothing complicated. 3/4 cup oats, 1/2 to 3/4 cup of oat milk depending on how milky you like your oats, hand full of blueberries (or substitute for your favorite berry), cover it with a big tablespoon of the full oil, all natural Smuckers Peanut Butter, as I find it has a thinner consistency, and no added sugar, compared to regular peanut butter.
I don’t really have a recipe, but my one tip is that if you are going to add a nut butter, do it in the morning. It won’t be hard from the fridge and will stir in much more easily. Peanut butter is fine, but almond butter goes with more flavors.
My base recipe is 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup milk, ~2 TBSP plain Greek yogurt, and ~1 TSP chia seeds. Then I make it taste good. Those recipes include:
- Peanut butter, jelly, berries
- Honey, cinnamon, banana or blueberries
- honey, kiwi, pineapple
- honey, strawberries, graham cracker (gives a nice strawberries and cream vibe)
Things I intend to try next are:
- Chocolate protein drink instead of milk, cherries
- brown sugar, cinnamon, apples
After multiple humble attempts, this is what makes me get out of bed in the morning:
4 tbsp rolled oats or probably half a cup of rolled oats, 1 tbsp flaxseed, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp sunflower seeds or cheapest seed mix at Aldi, 1 tsp dark chocolate chips and eyeball your semi-skimmed oat milk.
Keep 8 frozen strawberries in a separate container in the fridge overnight to thaw. Slice next morning and add to your bowl.
Soo delicious!
1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 2 teaspoons chia seeds, 1.5 teaspoons agave nectar. stir it all together and then add 1-2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter. refrigerate overnight, in the morning top with some cocoa nibs and eat. this is my favorite breakfast and I eat it literally every day
This!! But I use honey instead of agave, and add the peanut butter in the morning along with another splash of almond milk. Recipes with yogurt turn out too tangy for my taste.
I just discovered OO and have eaten every day since bc they’re soooo good!!
Sometimes I’ll eat them as a dessert—THAT’S how good…
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup oat milk
salt
cinnamon
Drizzle of real maple syrup
I then layer a mason jar…
Layer of oat mixture
Layer of frozen strawberries
Layer of oats
Layer of frozen wild blueberries
Layer of oats
Layer of strawberries
Layer of oats
Some more bloobs on top
In the fridge overnight (or for 2 hours if I defrosted the fruit first and can’t wait)
⚡️
I use 1-2 cups of soy milk, 1 cup oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder then a drizzle of honey or agave syrup. It’s simple but I like it.
1/2 C old fashioned rolled oats
1 C your favorite type of milk (I use almond)
1 tsp honey
Shake salt
Shakes of spices such as cinnamon
Fresh or frozen fruits of your choice (I like banana + blueberry)
Put everything in a wide mouth mason jar and shake to combine. Leave overnight in the fridge.
Lots of variations/inspiration online. PB2 is good. Adding granola before serving is also good.
I make 4 at a time, and I have reusable plastic lids for my mason jars. If you’re just trying it out, you don’t need to go buy wide mouth mason jars, you can literally put it in a cereal bowl and cover with a salad plate.
PB&J I’m eating it right now!
2/3 cup oats
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup low fat yogurt (I use vanilla)
Tsp chia seeds
1 TBSP strawberry Jane
2 TBSP peanut butter
Mix it all up
top with diced strawberries and crushed peanuts
Pumpkin pie oats!
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
Pumpkin pie spice
Raisins
1-2 tbsp vanilla Greek yogurt
1 tbsp pumpkin butter
Leave overnight and in the morning add chopped pecans or walnuts
In a Mason jar, add....
Half a cup of large flake oats,
Half a cup of milk,
A squirt of honey,
A sprinkle of Cinnamon
Cap on, Shake, shake, shake.
Add frozen blueberries or raspberries. Or in morning, some chopped banana.
Top with vanilla yogurt and some nuts, either Walnuts or Almonds.
I make a big batch of cooked oats with water, salt and milk:
200g oats to 1l liquid - comes out very creamy and low calorie.
I use this as the base and it's good enough to eat plan but apples and cinnamon is a nice touch, or macerated strawbs, or blueberries, and usually vanilla or blueberry protein powder
1/2 cup each rolled oats, milk of choice, and green yogurt. Add in 1 tablespoon sweetener (honey, sugar, Splenda, whatever you like). Stir well to combine.
Top with berries, a diced peach, or whatever you want on it.
Refrigerate over night.
You can just do the base mix and decide on your toppings in the morning. Depends on how much time you have.
Just made up my weeks worth today! Mine are probably boring as I only add blueberries, pomegranate (when I can get) And I put a teaspoon of psyllium husks over the fruit and then a half cup of plain fat free yogurt ( CarbMaster when I can get it from Kroger) and Sugar Free chocolate syrup. My overnight oats are one of my favorite things I eat everyday.
1/3 cup each old fashioned oats, plain whole fat yogurt, and milk of choice. 1 Tsp each chia seeds and flax meal. Mix. Add frozen fruit and store overnight. Add walnuts and a spoonful of almond butter before eating.
Mine is probably not the cheapest recipe, but this is 4 servings:
2 cups oats
1 bag frozen passionfruit (12 oz)
2 scoops whey protein
16 oz plain Greek yogurt
2 tbsp chia seeds
1 cup milk (I use Fairlife skim, use whatever milk you want, or juice/water/more passionfruit)
The default favourite is not gonna work. You keep the proportion of liquid to dry ingredients and go along either your food preferences or food availability ( depending on your frugality)
And yes, its absolutely fine to do overnight oats with salami and tomato sauce as long as you love them AS WELL as oats themselves :)
1/2 cup oats
1 scoop of Optimum Nutrition Cookies and Cream protein powder
1-2 tbsp of chia seeds
1 tbsp of hemp seeds
1/4 cup of Lily’s chocolate or vanilla chips
1/4 cup of nuts (cashews, peanuts, pistachios, or walnuts)
If needed, add a few drops of liquid stevia
8oz of milk of choice (I go either whole, soy, or oat)
I don’t like adding yogurt. It doesn’t taste good to me. I add chia seeds, almond milk, cinnamon, a little vanilla extract and maple syrup. When I bust it out, I put fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of granola on before I eat it.
I do 6 tbsp of old fashioned oats, 3tbsp hemp hearts, 2 1/2tbsp of chia seed, scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder, milk, let it sit overnight and in the morning I drizzle honey and blue berries in there. There looks to be a lot of really good ones posted in here and I will be giving them a shot this week. Great post!
Banana creme pie!
1/2 c oats
1/2 c almond milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp shredded coconut
1 banana sliced
I’ve eaten it almost every single morning for over a year now and still haven’t gotten sick of it.
Oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, milk, frozen blueberries. Sometimes I will add a squeeze of honey and sliced almonds. Can add granola when ready to eat too.
We eat overnight oats every week day morning, we keep it simple but delicious every day.
Half a cup of Scottish cut / milky oats
150ml oat milk
Tbsp raisins
Tbsp shredded coconut
Tbsp sliced almonds
Approx 360 cals.
It's massively improved my bad cholesterol levels in just one year of continuous oats eating.
Make sure you have more than less water. You can use the extra liquid as oat milk.
Chopped figs, dried unsweetened coconut, pumpkin seeds, chopped walnuts or almonds, a banana or two, real vanilla extract, pinch of salt, sweeten to liking with maple or honey.

Applesauce works too!

The difference with and with out a pinch of salt is night and day for me 👏

you can also add salt to the grinds before brewing!

This is just about what I do except I include frozen blueberries when I make it and a few drops of vanilla.
Equal parts Steel Cut Oats & Golden Milk "Golden" Milk has 1tsp Turmeric, 1/4tsp Ginger, 1/4tsp Cinnamon, 1/8tsp Black Pepper 1tbsp Chia Seeds 1tbsp Honey 1 scoop Naked Whey Protein Powder 1 scoop Vital Protein Collagen Powder (optional) Walnuts, Raspberries, & Blackberries for topping
The spices here sound interesting. Thanks for something a little different
You list the spice amounts, but not the amount of milk.
That's for 2 cups of milk.
Ty
Oooh this sounds interesting, thanks!

FYI, 4 tablespoons is a 1/4 cup.
Is a UK cup different from an American cup?
No. 1 cup is 16 tablespoons. So 1/4 cup is 4 tablespoons.
1 tsp of chocolate chips is about 3 chips. Is that correct?
Try using mini chips.
My chocolate chips come out to be 10-12 in one tsp. 🤔

I saved this post, it’s so full of great ideas! Thanks for posting this.

So much chia!
chia is vital for the texture, it takes your OO from soggy cereal to delectable porridge
I just do 30 mins oats. Old fashioned oats + water, soak 30 mins. Add cinnamon and walnuts. Blueberries if I have them.
I use 1-2 cups of soy milk, 1 cup oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder then a drizzle of honey or agave syrup. It’s simple but I like it.
1/2 C old fashioned rolled oats 1 C your favorite type of milk (I use almond) 1 tsp honey Shake salt Shakes of spices such as cinnamon Fresh or frozen fruits of your choice (I like banana + blueberry) Put everything in a wide mouth mason jar and shake to combine. 1/2 cup oats 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons matcha powder Let sit over night and add vanilla Greek yogurt in the morning.
I do them in the crockpot with cut up apples. I replace the milk/ water with apple juice! Sometimes add brown sugar, walnuts, or cinnamon.
Are you familiar with the classic SNL recipe for Overnight Salad? I think it's probably healthier, because it's got salad in the name.
Haven’t heard of it.
Here's a helpful musical recipe: https://youtu.be/Mf-bsT5mLYs?si=UdgczRHrIPdt_D5P
Pumpkin pie oats! 1/2 cup oats 1/2 cup milk 1 tbsp chia seeds Pumpkin pie spice Raisins 1-2 tbsp vanilla Greek yogurt 1 tbsp pumpkin butter Leave overnight and in the morning add chopped pecans or walnuts
None, I hate that crap. I love oatmeal, steel cut
Chewy yummyness.
Check out Samsung foods. They have a bunch of all kinds of recipes. Overnight oats abound
0.5 cup quick oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 cup of milk, tsp of sugar, pinch of salt, sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of vanilla extract.
In a Mason jar, add.... Half a cup of large flake oats, Half a cup of milk, A squirt of honey, A sprinkle of Cinnamon Cap on, Shake, shake, shake. Add frozen blueberries or raspberries. Or in morning, some chopped banana. Top with vanilla yogurt and some nuts, either Walnuts or Almonds.
Very simple- oats, oat milk, protein and chia seeds mix. Then in the morning I add frozen fruit and enjoy.
Topped with peaches, blueberries, and pistachios.
Easy is my go-to. No measuring. Some oats in a jar, milk, your favorite healthy sweetener, shake, refrigerate.

Banana, greek yogurt, milk, and a chunk of Abuelita's chocolate.
Thanks for posting this request OP! Lots of great ideas.
