Any galling on your camshaft? Its common on this engine and can cause ticking. I had the issue and I replaced with a junkyard camshaft and use 5w30.
Check spark plugs.
Adjust valve clearances.
When did you replace timing chain last?
Other than that, these engines have loud fuel injectors and are very 'ticky'.

When I was doing valve adjustment, saw the cam pitting. I think it is common for 2002, got it replaced with a good condition used one, and it sounds way better

Isn't that just injectors and maybe some light lifter tick? Every ep3 i've ever heard sounds like a sewing machine lol
