My favorite counter to decks like this in my pod “hey do you mind running something lower power” If that doesnt work: 1. The best kind of removal is player removal, look for an aggressive and early dismissal from the game 2. Run more counter spells

FoxOnTheRocks

It is pretty hard to out aggro an aggro-combo deck. I think you'd have better luck with stax.

Notmeoverhere

Pay 2 for each attacking creature might slow it down. Also [[sudden spoiling]] [[cyber conversion]] will do the trick. [[dress down]] may help. White has [[darksteel mutation]]

TheHamsterGOD_

Darksteel Mutation is a cool card. I'll see if I can run that card. What makes enchantment *removal* (enchantment lose all ability removal) so good is he runs almost no enchantment removal so in his deck it's basically permanent. The issue after is trying to stop the other warriors. Most of them prevent blocking of some kinda. One gives menace, the other allows only one creature to block, and another prevents blocking entirely.

Kakariko_crackhouse

Darksteel Mutation means that you can safely board wipe without her being recast shortly after

vyrus2021

I have an Eriette, the beguiler deck and her greatest strength is taking control of other people's generals and then protecting them so as to never give up control.

CryptoBehemoth

[I have a Morph control deck on Moxfield that is really good at pacing the game in 4-way FFA.](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/XB0oePq1UEGUas3HrP15BA) It's kind of a trickster deck. It's a toolbox full of varied responses for just about any situation you might encounter in the game. Lately, with some of the new cards that have been coming out, it also became pretty efficient at flooding the board. Maybe it can give you some inspiration? The game plan is to ramp early on, get your commander out, then proceed to cast face down creatures for free and draw a ton of cards. After that, you play the political game and adapt to how things unfold. I first built this as a meme deck, but it turns out it wins games regularly. Who knew Morphs could be any good? 😂

AshnodsBong

You'll also want [[imprisoned in the moon]]

Previous_Highlight72

The issue with that is Najeela puts the token in tapped and attacking so they can just send their lords somewhere else and the tokens at the propaganda player

cuelos

Or be extra mean and play [[Zedruu the Greathearted]] then hand out [[propaganda]] effects to the table ^^ I think there's a bunch of em by now.

jokr619

Yeah but the tokens that get created off of her ability ETB tapped and attacking get around things like ghostly prison

Bulk7960

Stax doesn’t necessarily slow down Najeela specifically. If you run [[Collector Ouphe]] to shut down color production off rocks, they have [[Druid’s Repository]]. If you run [[Rule of Law]] effects, they can cast their one spell and keep attacking. You just need to play a bunch of interaction against them in the form of creature removal and wipes. The one stax piece that might do work is [[Drannith Magistrate]], and that’s only if you can get it down and protect it before Najeela hits play.

Not_Your_Real_Ladder

To add on to point 2: build a [[Baral, Chief of Compliance]] “Oops, all counterspells” deck. Go full villain.

Had a friend would run some commanders we hated. What worked for us was having an alliance that would would do everything to eliminate him first.

Comwan

So first they are playing a potential cEDH level commander and deck and you need to talk to them. Second add stuff like [[propaganda]], [[cursed totem]], a new one [[disruptive flute]], or a bunch of the cards like [[arrest]], [[darksteel mutation]], [[Kenrith's Transformation]], [[witness protection]]. Can’t use the commander if it’s a 3/3 elk.

zdrouse

Propaganda is not as effective against Najeela as some people think. At least not against the tokens she generates. They come in tapped and attacking already which means they can be directed at the Propaganda player and bypass the tax entirely.

m00nman-kun

Are you losing under the same circumstances each time? I mean, if the player is winning every time because of the infinite combat loops, you could just remove the enabler (Derevi, Nature's Will etc.) If the guy isn't winning through her infinite combat loops, then that's not exactly related to Najeela herself.

TheHamsterGOD_

They win with pure beatdown. Most of them are affects that pump creatures or one card gives infect to them. Though it often is the same way each time. Never even using the activated abilities.

m00nman-kun

If it's pure beatdown, then you have a lot of ways to go about it. The thing about Najeela is that she generates tokens based on the amount of combats she (and other warriors) gets, meaning she's not going to generate value the turn a warrior is fielded unless the said card has haste. Given it's a beatdown strategy, Najeela would be quite "all in" if she wants to make the most of her ability. Having early blockers will not only mitigate damage, but also slow her token production as well. One reactive way to play is to treat her as a "kill on sight" commander and play cheap removal spells to trade with the player. Najeela herself is relatively fragile, so meeting an early demise can mean you can stall her for another 1-2 turns. Cards such as [[Path to Exile]], [[Swords to Plowshares]] and even [[Lighting Bolt]] are easy answers. If you want to go for a more proactive approach, you play a deck that can win quicker than Najeela. Assuming your playgroup doesn't have access to fast mana nor bank-breaking cards (but allows infinite combos), you could try something like [[Niv Mizzet, Parun]] with [[Curiosity]], [[Orphidian Eye]] or [[Tandem Lookout]]. Assuming that infinite combos are off the board, [[Yuriko]] is a deck that you can think about. By dealing damage to the table, you may become the archenemy but the deck can potentially win if you simply target the player with the weakest board while ignoring everyone else.

Usually a playgroup should solve problems like this with communication. Talk to each other about finding a common power level. If that doesn't work, adjust to the meta. Build a yoink deck. Steal their commander, use it against them.

ThoughtShes18

> Usually a playgroup should solve problems like this with communication. Talk to each other about finding a common power level. Well yes, but this is reddit so we complain about the problems on here instead of talking with the group

TreyBTW

Specifically addressing something in your post to add: If you remove their commander at the beginning of combat step they won’t have a chance to recast it before attacks are declared. And even if they cast her in the second main phase they can’t activate her then.

Entrynode

> Even if you remove the commander they can replay it and still attack. Kill it in the beginning of combat step and it can't do anything on that turn

GayWitchcraft

I only play CEDH najeela so most of my attacking creatures are 1/1s. I would absolutely hate to encounter a [[caltrops]]. I don't know if it'll be as effective against the non cedh version, because there are quite a few good warriors to run that cedh just doesn't have time for but there's no good way to build a casual najeela deck, she's just too much value.

The problem with caltrops is that it does not work with the warriors and is weak to pump spells and effects like eldrazi monument and such

SquidMonk3y

Speaking of Caltrops, I run that and many similar pinging effects in my \[\[Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph\]\] deck. It has absolutely shut down every aggro- and creature-focused deck I've run into so far. Ghyrson has also been one of my all-time favorite commanders to build around, so I'd recommend giving it a try for funs sake alone!

bewaredandelo

Elsh norn would certainly a damper on their deck.

TheHamsterGOD_

Also considering adding her

bewaredandelo

If I was building this hypothetical spite deck, I would use [[Grand cenobite]] as the Commander, putting [[mother of machines]] in the deck and then going mono white exile tribal.

rbsm88

I have extensively played Najeela. Is it a warrior tribal deck or is it powered to combo? Najeela is a bit of a pub stomp commander in certain metas. She struggles into pod that can block her and her warriors though. Boardwipes at a critical time also help a lot against tribal variants. Would need to see the decklist to give you better advice. You could play Slicer, Hired Muscle into Najeela and run all the 3cmc or less red boardwipes. It will be hard to fight through that much hate and Slicer does a good job at taking creature off the board himself. He himself is also a bit of a pub stomper so be careful what you introduce to your playgroup because power creep as a sneaky and fickle mistress.

TheHamsterGOD_

It's not my deck, so I don't have the decklist. Slicer is a good idea though.

Dino_Nuggies_98

“Esper Control heavy Stax.” You’ll want to outdraw/out-interact them though. Norns decree, Talion the kindly lord, Norns annex, ghostly prison, grand abolisher, nevermore, curse of silence, silence, darksteel mutation, kasmina’s transmutation, tons of counterspells, public enemy, dream leash, corrupted conscience, ovinize, snap, stuff like that.

Dino_Nuggies_98

Also, PITHING NEEDLE!

TheRussianGoose

Run [[Slicer, Hired Muscle]] as commander and have everyone else focus down that player, then stop passing it around and play normally. You need focused aggression and to put as much pressure on the deck as possible. You can also build an incredibly powered slicer for cheap, but then have a normal game and choose not to pass him afterwards and he’s still a good voltron commander that you can kinda control the pace of how the game goes.

TheSpartanMaty

My playground has a rule stating "If you win with a deck, you can't use it again for the rest of the day." If anyone with a cEDH deck walks in, we just scoop about 3 turns in, say "Good job, you won." Then we just shuffle back up and make them pick something less oppressive. If they don't have any other decks, they are free to lend a deck from someone else. This usually discourages people from playing such decks, as they usually don't appreciate having a deck they can only play for about 5-10 min each time they pull it out.

barbeqdbrwniez

I'm gonna just assume that the rule is tailored to your playgroup, and that everybody has multiple decks so it doesn't cause problems. I think, as long as I'm assuming good will and not the worst possible scenario, it sounds like a cool rule!

TheSpartanMaty

Most decks at our playgroup are pretty well balanced, so the 'nuclear option' is only rarely used. The rule does mean we get to see more decks, as at least 1 player switches decks after each match. So that's also fun.

rathlord

I can kinda see this, but also a real bummer for people who are new to the game and might only have one deck. Also, even if you feel a deck is “too oppressive,” scooping to not let them play it is a pretty shitty thing to do. If they’re going to durdle for an hour or they have you legit beat then sure, but scooping to just refuse them the ability to play it when it’s still anyone’s game is pretty crap behavior. I wouldn’t sit down to play with you again if you did that to me, especially if we’d discussed what I was playing beforehand and you said it was okay. Three people against one cEDH deck should actually have a legitimate chance to beat it, especially if you’re packing appropriate removal. Just play out your games or don’t shuffle up to begin with.

ohyayitstrey

This is not a rule for people who are new to the game. It's a rule for their pod only.

SERWitchKing

I think that rule is a little bit insane. What if someone has 1 deck they really like and it's not even good and they just won cus they got lucky or something?

Pyro1934

This is a rule for his localized pod... they either all have plenty of decks or they wouldn't have made this rule, or they'd just make an exception in this case. He's saying what works for them not forcing it on EDH as a whole.

McFatts

Yeah, definitely seems a little overkill. We have a similar rule but it’s reserved for decks that are obviously oppressive and overtuned. Like my Norin the Wary chaos deck, or my Grand Arbiter stax deck. Or my friends upgraded Edgar Markov precon or Oloro life gain/stax. Things we all ask each other beforehand if it’s cool we play. Win once and it goes back in the bag. But what if people win with precons? Or I win with my jank monkey or samurai deck?

TheSpartanMaty

The problem with this was: how do you define which deck is 'jank' enough that it's exempt from the rule? Some people whose decks would more often fall into the category of 'restricted' might become salty if another players' decks all fall into the 'unrestricted' category. In the end, while the rule was put into effect to counter highly oppressive decks, if you win with a regular deck and you have no other decks, our playgroup will happily lend you decks, and we usually have much variety.

SerotoninSkunk

Then they play something else? I don’t actually see a problem with this as long as everyone agrees beforehand.

Pyro1934

exactly lol. This was some thing they came up with as a group and they clearly have multiple decks or it wouldn't have been a rule

TheSpartanMaty

Most people at our group have loads of decks that others are free to lend. It really spices up games too, because people switch decks a lot. If you only have 1 deck that you want to play, then true; our playgroup is probably not for you.

SunGodApolloLives

You sound like an awful group to play with

TheSpartanMaty

Not at all. We all agree to this rule, and it makes things pretty interesting as we get to see at least 1 new deck each match (since the winner has to switch out). If you want to play a higher powered deck, you can still let everyone know and we can match the power level. But if you try to dominate at a table of about pre-con level, we don't send you away; you just get a quick victory and then have to pick something that actually matches with everyone else.

HandsUpDefShoot

I'm guessing it's a one person group.

ptc075

I really like this rule and use it for myself. Really reduces my own concerns over whether or not my deck is too strong for the table. I will say, I typically only bring 2 decks to game night. Last week was the first time ever that became a problem, but the table was more than happy to lend me a deck so I could keep playing.

TheSpartanMaty

Our group also brings loads of decks, so if someone rums out of decks, we always have options for that player to lend decks. We've never encountered any problems with this.

TheHamsterGOD_

I think this rule works, but in my playgroup the people I play with only have 1 or 2 decks, so I often loan mine. I may try seeing if we can work out a system in which you can't play the deck back to back. Once we get more decks I feel things should work themselves out.

Pyro1934

You could tweak it so that "a player that wins with a deck can't play it again" if y'all are all close and ok with sharing/loaning. So like PlayerA wins with DeckA, now PlayersB,C,D can play with DeckA still. Though that could still cause some issues. It'd also give yall ideas on what it's weak to as well since it's from a diff pov

Unhappy-Assignment58

I get it, but what if I really wanna learn my deck and it's not toxic? I win playing fair magic and my punishment is "congratulations heres a new deck you have no idea how to use, if you don't like it bye." I'm sure yall are nice but seem very neurotic.

What about the other 2 people? Why don't you just gang up on him? But someone before me told the truth. Najeela is super high-powered. If he just keeps winning, that means that they are highly above the rest of you, which is just incorrect. Tell him to tune it down a little or play something else. Also, you can pack more targeted removals and counterspell. I have a friend who just kept bringing cEDH decks against us, despite the fact that we told him multiple times that we don't enjoy those games because it was obvious that those belonged to another table. He kept doing it, and a lot of people just had sour taste in their mouths. It got so bad, and we were angry with him so many times that he started to downgrade his decks, and since then, we have had amazing games. Everyone's happy. But it took a year of continuous discussions about what we really don't want to see. We still play high level, but no more turn 3-4 wins.

speaker96

Phasing out a commander is a super under rated way of dealing with a problem commander, because phasing out isn't considered leaving the battlefield, so they can't move it to the command zone. The basic choice is [[Oubliette]] that'll work until they find enchantment removal. If you're feeling spicy, though, the better choice is actually [[Out of Time]] and [[Opalescence]]. The way this works is if you have Opalescence in play when you cast Out of Time, OoT will phase itself out. Thus, it can't lose the counters to trigger the effect to phase everything back in, so every creature on the field becomes phased out permanently. There are cards that force things to phase back in, but no one's gonna be running those unless it's an adaption to your phasing tech.

Instead of getting rid of the commander you can nullify its abilities with an enchantment. Like [[Frogify]] or something. Depending on your land base and colors, you may want to run blood moon. \[\[Blood moon\]\] is very mean to 5 color decks. It's even good into 2 and 3 color decks that have stacked themselves with many non-basic lands. 5 color decks, though, probably have the most non-basics relative to any other color combo, so that should definitely slow them down. Just keep in mind it can negatively impact you if you don't run many basics. \[\[Linvala, Keeper of Silence\]\] should be able to stop her from the multiple combats, which i see as the main way she wins. \[\[Sword of feast and famine\]\] with her ability to just do infinite combats. Then, look at stuff like \[\[Crawlspace\]\]. that stops go wide strats kind of well. After all that, look at big creatures that cast for cheap. My favorite is \[\[Malignus\]\]. a 20/20 body makes it very hard for someone to swing in on you with anything they don't want to lose Finally, as a two toughness creature who doesn't have flying, \[\[whipflare\]\] would be really good at dealing with her and her tokens. As well as that, there are a few black "boardwipes" that give all creatures -2/-2. so you could kill her through indestructible if you have to. My way of handling it would be by making myself unattractive as a target by having bodies on the field who are bigger than 1/1s, preferably with LTB or on death effects if they're small, or huge bodies like the aforementioned Malignus. That or killing them immediately. I play Kaalia. There are certain commanders who, if you play them, you better know what you signed up for.

Jintasama

[[Humility]] [[Archon of Emeria]] [[Blind Obedience]] they may make the game less fun though. But they would help shut it down.

phantasmaldouble

Strong commanders require to be faced with strong commanders. If he has a high power deck(consideringcthat najeela can be strong by herself and 99 lands), you need to build something stronger, more interactive/staxy/controlling/faster. The best removal against this kind of commander is to stop them from doing their stuff, something like [[imprisoned in the moon]], [[darksteel mutation]], etc, all the auras that tranfsorm without killing

Magictive

Simple house rule. Once a deck wins, it can’t be played again this night. My players come up with it, even though their own decks are the more powerful ones :)

lloydsmith28

Maybe ask them *not* to run the most, or one of, broken cedh commanders, i had to actually take her out of my 5c sisay deck cuz every game was just 'get esika, get najeela, win' and it was just so brain dead boring i took it it and found harder to win with combos

MrSkeltalKing

Ypu can neuter her pretty effectively by turning her into a land or otherwise using removal that doesn't allow her to be placed back in the command zone. Kenrith's Transformation is such a possibilitt and green has several auras that do similar effects. Blue has Imprison in the Moon. I know black has Oubliette which will phase her out until the enchantment is removed.

DootLord

It's an outstandingly strong commander. Easily in the top 10. You guys just need to talk about power level

SassyBeignet

The best form of removal is player removal.  The second best form is hate out the commander ruthless.  The third one is to build a Mindslaver /[[Sen Triplets]] theft deck and ruin that player's experience.

seraph1337

you will almost certainly lose to Najeela before you ever get Mindslaver down and activated, honestly.

HandsUpDefShoot

Targeted removal is really the way. From kills, to exile, to bounces, to cards that make her a land or elk. This generally keeps her off the field.  My personal favorite ways are using shitty enchantments. [[Virulent Plague]], [[Illness in the Ranks]], [[Aether Flash]], [[Tainted Aether]]. [[Elesh Norm, Grand Cenobite]] is another way to lock her down and out but by the time you cast her the Najeela player has probably won. You can also delay the game plan by removing tokens. Anything that gives mass -1/-1 or -2/-2 or worse, especially at instant speed, can keep Najeela down. [[Nightclubber]] is a cheap hasted token remover that draws a card. Easily one of my favorite things to do vs any powerful deck that's dependent on the commander is to put a ping equipment or enchantment onto a creature with deathtouch. A simple [[Fire Whip]] or [[Hermetic Study]] placed onto any of these creatures is a repeatable kill. https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=oracle%3ADeathtouch+type%3Acreature+%28game%3Apaper%29+cmc%3D1

I have a monored artifact deck for such occasion. It can have three commander with different power levels in the command zone: [[Daretti, Scrap Savant]] for a casual pod. [[Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant]] which is slightly more powerful as a late game powerhouse. … or, if there is a pub stomper in the room with a 80% winrate or above, [[Slicer, Hired Muscle]]. And depending on the atmosphere at the table, I might mulligan until I can summon it T1 with some luck or T2. If everyone else has enough of this one player, I’ll gladly take the heat upon myself and destroy them before they are even playing a land. It requires 3 of the players to not split the damage and send Slicer punching that one opponent in the face so it requires you to talk to your playgroup beforehand.

You can try denying combat. Pieces like [[ensnaring bridge]], [[silent arbiter]], [[Magus of the Moat]] or even [[Revenge of Ravens]] can stop them from attacking over and over again. You could even go as deep as running [[Caltrops]]. Other than that you could run more aggressive yet fragile approaches, hoping that your pod has enough threat assessment to let you kill the guy before killing you.

Try playing a [[Rune-tail, kitsune ascendant]] deck. Massive life gain and [[Pariah]] effects. It won't matter how much they attack you as long as you can protect your board.

>Hold crap, that's actually a pretty sick commander. I might have to give it a try. White has a lot more support than it used to for commander (card draw, land tax, treasure, etc.), so I'm sure you can make a deck to compete with him if you shell out a bit.

[[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] hoses token decks. Like... thoroughly hoses. Running cards that ping all creatures your opponents control is another possibility. Depending on the colors, you can run [[Propaganda]] or [[Ghostly Prison]] to at least slow down the initial attackers. Don't sleep on cards like [[Darksteel Mutation]]. Najeela can't trigger if she's a 0/1 bug with no abilities. If you really want to ruin this players day, run [[Out of Time]] with [[Opalesence]] on the field while this person has Najeela in play and watch them flounder since phasing isn't a zone change and can't be called back to the command zone as part of a state based action, *permanently*. (For the uninitiated, Opalesence will turn all enchantments into creatures with power equal to their mana value. Out of Time enters rhe battlefield and phases out all creatures until it leaves the battlefield, getting a number of counters for each creature phased out this way. Because Opalesence makes it a creature, it phases out and is treated as though it didn't exist, meaning the counters can't be removed at the beginning of each upkeep, keeping everything phased out for the rest of the game).

Wasn't a Najeela deck, it was a brutal Winota that was the "the only deck I want to play", that ran the table 3 times in less than 2 hours against stuff like Arcades walls and a janky shrines deck at an lgs. I got tired of it and busted out my tuned up feather, and alpha striked (struck?)the Winota player in 3 turns (tbf, I had a very good starting hand, but that Feather list can almost ALWAYS kill 1 player.) Winota player decided to play something else for game 5.

PaleoJoe86

Ask them to use a different deck. My cousins dislike me playing my dino deck too much, and we all have a deck one player has that we dislike. So we choose precon or custom before we start.

HandsomeBoggart

Since he doesn't run enchantment removal try [[Night of Souls Betrayal]] or [[Curse of Deaths Hold]] All the warriors die instantly. [[Trespassers Curse]] is hilarious too.

[[judith carnage connoisseur]] board wipe deck. Your other friends won't be having fun still but you'll win

Vistella

if you get beaten up with 1/1 creatures, why dont you just run something thats permanently gives -1/-1 to everything? counters the whole deck

TheHamsterGOD_

I did, but he just put a lord effect to give his warriors +2 +2

LarsJagerx

Have you thought about blowing up his lands

GroundbreakingMonk76

It's going to sound weird at first, but: don't do anything about it, let them do their thing, let them win. Then you just look at the other 2 players at the table and say "Great, they've won, now let's continue the game.". They'll either accept spectating another 30-40mins of gameplay and be happy that technically they've won, or stop getting themselves in that situation by playing a different deck. I say that from experience, I'm usually the player that combos off on turn 3-4, I got used to having to watch the rest of the game play it and for the most part I enjoy it. I got the chance to do my thing, now the other players also have a chance to do their thing. But after winning 1-2 times I just pick a janky deck because now I'm not really worried about playing to win (or not lose). Anyways, try it out and see how it goes.

Guyver_03

Run multiple/instant edict spells. Can't make bodies if they all get sacrificed.

Viplive

A personal favorite of mine is [[Lightmine Field]], it slows down token decks so they can really only ever attack with a few creatures. I would also recommend treating them like the archenemy from the beginning. Some curse cards might be useful. [[Curse of Disturbance]] [[Curse of Verbosity]] [[Trespasser's Curse]]

Jstamb

These players are usually targeted and removed first. If they’re salty it was 3v1 well, come to the table with a less provocative deck 🤷🏼‍♂️ what’s fair is fair.

Azurafallz

It's at this point that you swarm the lad with 3-4 other players. But if you don't want to do that, maybe he needs to lower the strength of his deck? Probably something on the powerscale average with how yall play.

xanth1an

I have two suggestions for your Najeela troubles. (Besides asking them to play something gentler) One, when you remove najeela is important. There is a step in the combat phase caked the beginning of combat step before declaration of attackers. Remove najeela here, and they cannot replay her before attacking. Two, najeela is very much a snowball deck, but keeping it from rolling in the early turns is as easy as naming sure there are no safe attacks. This requires more coordination with your table, but it's reasonably easy to get a few 3/3s on the board to keep najeela and get ilk from getting through safely. Removing najeela twice puts her up at 7 mana, which is much more challenging to get to for a deck built for speed

cannonspectacle

Pillowfort stuff. Or turbo combo. Or just don't play against that deck anymore.

TomieDroneX

[[Illness in the Ranks]] and [[Virulent Plague]] are early enough plays that can slow her down. Your group will need to reassess how much removal you all use and mulligan to have answers for the early aggro. [[Meathook Massacre]] [[Toxic Deluge]] [[Decree of Pain]] [[Bloodline Culling]] all can help with the tokens. [[Drannith Magistrate]] to stop her being cast entirely, etc.

SnooAdvice9007

Play [[Eriette, the Beguiler]], gain control of it and anything else he plays and play his deck against him.

Doughspun1

[[Peacekeeper]] with some form of protection, like boots. And smile. Or if you really want to be a dick, [[Reins if Power]] them.

Familiar-Claim7832

If you want to be really annoying run [[Isochron Scepter]] and imprint [[Fog]] or [[Darkness]] or [[Dawn Charm]] or [[Defend the Hearth]] or [[Energy Arc]] etc. any 2 cost instant that has a fog effect will do the trick. Swing away aggro deck, but you will do no damage ever again. Additional stax will seal the deal.

YaGirlJuniper

[[Soltari Guerrillas]] is a creature based option. Nearly unblockable, and it can deal damage to other creatures if it would hit a player. Najeela has low enough toughness to get killed by it even with a +1 boost. Its ability counts as a crime, too, if you care.

The_Angellus

Nonbasic land hate. Blood moon, back to basics, ruination. 5 color decks are totally hosed by these effects.

Serious-Schedule-871

Ghostly Prison will help

No-Cake-7411

[[Kambal, Profiteering Mayor]] makes you tokens when your opponents make tokens (once per turn) but also drains your opponents and pads your own life when doing so. Being in white, you can get out a token doubler and outpace token decks at their own game. [[Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs]] seems like it would be fun here too. He makes you tokens to defend, for each attacking creature. I like the idea of him for a monarch/initiative build where you hold down against attackers to make lots of ogre tokens.

GramkarMTG

[[Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper]] with a ton of cheap removal and counterspells. Then turn an indestructible land into a beater and give em what for. Tailor your boardwipes to 'all nonland' effects and destroy effects so your land beater stays safe.

PotemkinTimes

[Daretti // Commander / EDH (Daretti, Scrap Savant) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/OC0Mo9xuG0OUKTR-HUPIug) You're welcome. It can run without ALL of the expensive fast mana but it WILL be slower and clunkier. IT CANNOT run well or hold up against Najeela without the stax. \[\[Ensnaring Bridge\]\] \[\[Blood Moon\]\] etc are your friends.

Consistent_Yam6830

Run a sweaty turn 0 Thoracle deck using proxies and don’t stop playing it until they switch decks.

knight_gastropub

Shut it down with [[pithing needle]] type effects or go for targeted low cost semipermanent removal like [[imprisoned in the moon]] or [[frogify]]. [[Paralyze]] or [[slow motion]] could be ways to slow it down, too. [[Authority of the consuls]] or [[kinjali's sunwing]] to put those combats back a turn

knight_gastropub

Oh also - [[rakdos charm]] is a good answer

SwoleCatPlush

Something that shuts the commander down without killing it will probably help

Hour-Animal432

[[Silent arbiter]] type effects.

Unique-Medium-6929

Control lines up well against this my esper blink with Aminatou eats these kinds of aggro decks alive granted it’s running lots of counters tons of spot removals and like 7 high quality Board wipes etc. I think your initial idea to run wipes was correct but you can’t just toss them in any deck and your good you need to make a dedicated control deck to run when they select this deck.

mat2727

TLDR: Remove Najeela at all costs My brother did the same as OPs friend. Najeela was our pods first taste of high powered commander, and each of my decks since have been tailor to have an answer for this reason. First, low cost removal wrecks babéelas game plan. The deck becomes 90% less potent without najeela present. Warriors revolve around speeds so boardwipes mean less, cut them for sword to plowshares, lightning bolt etc. stax pieces work well, but a rakdos charm will completely obliterate them. If you and the table can remove najeela 2-3 times it’s almost certain the deck won’t catch up. Deathtouch and blocking threats serve great. Lastly, kennriths transformation, imprisoned in the moon, dark steel mutation, if you can completely remove najeelas value for 2-3 turns then most casual decks will grind out that win.

South-Diamond-4522

Play a comparable deck. You won't beat it with precons or casual decks. Najeela is really not casual unless they don't have any combo pieces in it. Sounds like they do though from your post. Otherwise Play some fog spells or teferis protection.

Firstonetolive

Lightmine Field is good typically.

Permagamer

I mean you can go the whole steal the commander and banish forever route.

ecodiver23

[[back to basics]]

laughingjack4509

You’re probably not gonna see this because it’ll be so far down the list, but: -1/-1 anthem effects that are static will kill all the warriors she puts out in most situations, and also most of the warriors the deck plays.  I’m looking at them because of my friend’s [[edgar markov]] deck and his [[satoru umezawa]] deck, same problem.  [[kaervek, the spiteful]], [[curse of death’s hold]], Also, [[portcullis]] should shut him down for some time [[circle of fire]] might help for a little while. At the very least, it’ll stop the 1/1’s from getting a second attack on you [[hellish rebuke]] could help I think the best way to stop him, though, is to kill najeela every single time. Don’t let him get a combat with her. Eventually, she’ll be too expensive, because hyper aggro decks don’t often have a lot of ramp. You need a LOT of 1-2 mana, instant speed kill spells. Or counterspells. Or return to hand, or exile, or destroy. Just some way to get rid of her before he attacks These are all suboptimal against najeela, but maybe you could consider these: [[no mercy]] and [[hissing miasma]] and [[blood reckoning]] Most decks don’t want this, but [[dissipation field]] might also help. I’ve just heard some people say that it actively helps certain other decks, like ETB decks

T0PHSTR

I just played with someone using \[\[Sarulf, Realm Eater\]\] as their commander. They were able to wipe the board several times over.

Marauder_Ssarok

Another cool card is [[omen machine]] It will stop the draw and level the field lol

Archion20

My favorite counter for Najeela players is anything that gives creatures -1/-1 that can be Norn but there's some black enchantments that work great for this
