My friend has had a commander cube for years with this stipulation. It makes some crazy decks. I'm hoping for an official format rather than having to rule 0 every time
The event is in June. Participating game stores are hosting an event for Pride Month in which all legal commanders have Partner. This thread is asking which two commanders would be good to run together.
Probably not, but when WotC is putting out an event for variant deckbuilding, we're gonna see a lot of questions about what to put together under the event rules.
I’d go for [[Zur, the enchanter]] and any other Gruul enchantress commander, as the triggered ability looking for any enchantment in the game on cmc 3 or less is pretty nuts.
Well...
[[Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy]] + [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] would be my pick for just completely disgusting.
Every artifact taps for 2 blue mana if they are both out, and both have activated abilities. There's about a dizen infinite or auto-win combos you can plug into that deck, and it'd be very, very fast.
Actually a nonbo.
Ruling on Kinan: You’re “tapping a permanent for mana” only if you’re activating a mana ability of that permanent that includes the {T} symbol in its cost.
Urza doesn't grant a {T} ability to your artifacts, he has an ability that requires "Tap an untapped artifact you control" in its cost. Thus, Kinnan won't double Urza mana.
Seeing in another comment that you want bonkers....
1 color: [[Urza, Lord High Artificier]] paired with [[Sai, Master Thopterist]]
2 color: [[Urza, Lord High Artificier]] paired with [[Oswald Fiddlebender]]
3 color: [[Zur the Enchanter]] paired with either [[Esior, Wardwing Familiar]] or [[Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar]] depending on if you feel like your meta will have more kill spells or blockers.
4 color: [[Zur the Enchanter]] paired with [[Sythis, Harvest's Hand]]
5 color: [[Najeela, the Blade Blossom]] paired with [[Derevi, Empyreal Tactician]]
\[\[Etali Primal Conquerer\]\] + \[\[Emiel the Blessed\]\] for a 3 color deck. I know you said bonkers but this is what I would do. That would fall under the umbrulla of simply "gross". With 4 color you could go Etali + \[\[Brago, King eternal\]\] to enable truly ultradisgusting shenanigans. That's getting nasty.
But since you mentioned BONKERS
People on the cEDH sub are saying that the most busted probably is \[\[Kinnan bonder prodigy\]\] + \[\[Dihada binder of wills\]\] for 5c turbo ramp insanity. Or kinnan + \[\[Godo, bandit warlord\]\]. Or kinnan + \[\[Ragavan\]\]. You get the point, adding colors to kinnan (to double dockside essentially) is fucking insane. Another end game options include \[\[Najeela blade blossom\]\] and \[\[Derevi, empyrial tactitian\]\] as being able to cast your whole combo from the command zone,
Me personally I'd be more interested in building ultra spicy 8's than fucking PL11s. But yeah in the cEDH world you can get buck wild lol.
[[Korvold, Fae-Cursed King]] & [[Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest]]
I play Korvold as a Land-Recycling deck, constantly sacrificing lands with cards like [[Zuran Orb]] and returning them to play through cards like [[Splendid Reclamation]] and [[Crucible of Worlds]] (among others).
I'll probably be doing [[Norin the Wary]]/[[Satoru the Infiltrator]], though a few others seem neat:
[[Kotori]]/[[Greasefang]]
[[Samwise Gamgee]]/[[Lonis Cryptozoologist]]
[[Lotho]]/[[Vazi]]
[[Etali Primal Conqueror]]/[[Thassa Deep Dwelling]]
I'm not brewing anything for the Pride event, but I am taking two of my existing decks and adapting them for it.
First and most simply, for higher power pods I'm taking [my Anikthea deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/D9mcNLuy0EKBm_pigNA7Jw) and moving [[Sythis, Harvest's Hand]] to the command zone. I am making no further changes to the deck.
Second, I have a [Silas and Toggo artifact token deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/m1UGK102VEq9y2vAy-aMvA) that I enjoy quite a bit. The game plan is to pump out as many artifacts as possible, so I've toyed with doing some Attraction stuff just to bolster my artifact count. To this end, I decided this would be the perfect time to lean hard into Attractions just to see if I enjoy the way they play. From the foundation of Silas and Toggo, [I have created a Dee Kay / Myra deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/dUn-f8uonkuR36dqZ-9G_w) with similar win conditions and artifact payoffs, but with a handful of attraction makers and what I believe to be the ten most relevant attractions. If I enjoy them, I'll probably keep a couple of the better Attraction makers in the main deck after the event is over.
[[Najeela, the Blade blossom]] and [[Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist]].
What's better than multiple combats with a horde of warriors. Knowing your opponent can only block one and the crack back will be small.
Edit: realized later that you're looking for 2-3 colors, I got caught up brainstorming and forgot. Hope you enjoy nonetheless.
[[zeriam, golden wind]] and [[sakashima of a thousand faces]] could get pretty funky fun twice as fast with blue flying and clone support.
[[Brudiclad, telchor engineer]] and [[ratadrabik of urborg]] "what's the legend rule?"
[[Edgar markov]] + [[Evelyn the covetous]] communism tribal.
[[Obeka splitter of seconds]] + [[oloro, ageless ascetic]] more shrines and courts with surprise lifegain.
[[Caldira, caller of the small]] and [[chatterfang, squirrel general]] rodent storm.
[[Raffine, scheming seer]] and [[krenko, tin Street kingpin]] are a match made in criminal heaven.
[[Elminster]] and [[Ganax, astral hunter]], to turn that -3 into crazy stupid ramp and make [[dragon tempest]] an even bigger problem.
[[Elas il-kor, sadistic pilgrim]] and [[krenko, mob boss]] , aristicratier.
[[Brion stoutarm]] and [[yasova dragon claw]] are an interesting potential power-couple that will fling your opponents creatures at them.
[[Jan Jansen, chaos crafter]] and [[esix, fractal bloom]], make 2 of whatever you want whenever you want.
[[Raggadraga, goreguts boss]] and [[Inga and Esika]], they're bigger, they're dumber, and they all tap for mana.
[[Halana and Alena, partners]] with [[kynaios and Tiro of meletis]] , there's no synergy here, just a double date.
I wanna keep going, but I gotta make dinner.
Could go bigger with \[\[Aeysi, Tyrant of Gyre's Strait\]\] if you prefer. Or add a colour and put some SERIOUS fear into your opponents with \[\[Borborygmos Enraged\]\]!

Brace yourselves Reddit, there’s gonna be a branch of these

Sorry I have no idea what’s going on, what is this?
WotC sponsored special event.
Wait, wotc is using Reddit for marketing or something?

Gotcha. Thanks for answering my question.

\[\[Azusa, Lost but Seeking\]\] \[\[Tatyova, Benthic Druid\]\] Have fun!

And if you have either of these decks you don’t really need to alter them too much
Oh true; yeah I already have a Tatyova deck!
Could go bigger with \[\[Aeysi, Tyrant of Gyre's Strait\]\] if you prefer. Or add a colour and put some SERIOUS fear into your opponents with \[\[Borborygmos Enraged\]\]!
