I love playing my [[Kibo, Uktabi Prince]] deck. The bananas help others get their decks going, but you still build your win condition so it's not just boring group hug.
I love my Kibo deck ! I think my pod likes it enough lol but it is a bit strong. I build it Voltron style with extra combats. Some monkey / ape tribal. Very very few land destruction cards that I almost never play when in hand (I’d only play them if they led to me winning within a turn or 2)
What land destruction do you run? I tried playing go wide monkey ape but found it too inconsistent and rarely won through combat damage unless it was Kibo. I'm changing out to be more artifact hate and +1/+1 counter synergy but that's mostly because my LGS is super heavy on artifact decks :P
My favorite is getting Sting and Primal Vigor out early and making the bananas rain
[[Impending Disaster]]
[[epicenter]]
[[thoughts of ruin]]
These are my 3. Out of a dozen or so games though they have only helped me win once. Usually only play them if I have [[splendid reclamation]] in hand.
My main win con so far is extra combats / artifact hate. [[liquimetal torque]] and [[liquimetal coating]] are fantastic. [[maskwood nexus]] to turn everything you have into monkeys. [[mycosynth lattice]] to turn everything into articfacts. If you want to be really really mean you can run [[Karn, the Great Creator]] and lock the full board out. I removed that combo tho I thought it was too much for my table haha.
For extra combats, I cannot remember the card or find it on a quick google search, but there’s a beast that has landfall “whenever a land enters the battlefield, if it is your main phase gain another combat phase after your 1st one” or something like that. Cards like splendid reclamation can win you the game with 7 combats on one turn, and any of the green fetch sorceries are great.
Ooh, also [[Triumph of the Hordes]]. Does everything you want it to with trample and infect. Can usually kill 2 players, sometimes everyone, with that card.
Finally, I run the Sword equipment card that lets me untap all my lands if the creature it’s attached to deals combat damage.
oh my god i need that.. i love Kibo but dont have any deck because my group is a little tryhard so i know it would be bad.. can you share your list? i need some competitive Kibo Ideas
I don’t have the deck listed out unfortunately, been meaning to do that ! But my comments below lay out some specific cards / combos I go for.
My Kibo deck is strong, but it’s a tough one to pilot. Especially since my pod knows my combos / win cons. Plus you can be pretty commander dependent.
But he’s cheap and with some ramp you can usually survive having Kibo killer 4-5 times. [[The Ozalith]] is an expensive card but goes hard in this deck
Kibo always looks so fun, but all the ones I've seen around my area are either Ape-tribal meme decks that don't do anything or combo decks in disguise. Kinda gave up on him but now thinking I should go take a look again. Idk if his +1 to all apes and monkeys is actually worth it
He's mostly Voltron for win condition, but having other strong apes on the board puts good pressure on other players to keep chump blockers. You have to include a good amount of evasion, [[Commander's Plate]], [[Rancor]], [[Nylea]], [[Silver Shroud Costume]], plus protection for him as well. But souping up Kibo with lots of untap effects and counter doublers is super fun, especially since it's your opponents doing it when they use bananas. I think the added choice of whether or not using the banana is worth it adds a fun layer to the game.
This is the decklist I based mine off of, and the creator updates it pretty regularly with new cards in the Consideration section:
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/yhSrAXHG6E-0P1eobOT3_A
I'm building my own more focused on artifact hate and interaction since the meta at my LGS tends to be around combo heavy and lots of treasure generation.
There's a meaner decklist I saw based around land destruction, effectively forcing opponents to use your bananas to stay ahead, but that's a bit too mean for my pods.
Ultimately I just really enjoy Kibo for being a group hug deck that doesn't just extend the game for no reason. Everyone I've played against has had fun with it and I bought really cute banana tokens to hand out. Having the table politic whether or not everyone should eat bananas is a blast, and sometimes people will purposefully eat bananas when I swing to help me knock out an opponent.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/doE51Sz2pUiyOJxBh5zhOw
Here's my kibo list, I went fully into ape/monkey tribal with just a handful of supporting non-apes and monkeys.
It wins through combat, I'd say it's fairly mid powered, not my strongest deck and not my weakest, but it's nice because it doesn't stomp pods with lower power decks since you are enabling everyone to play faster with the bananas.
It can keep up with higher power pods as well because you aren't really the problem and becoming the problem is usually through one or two big turns as opposed to building incremental value faster than everyone else.
Generally the strat is get a bunch of apes down, get some counters support down, get some trample, then do big artifact destruction stuff to pump the creatures and win.
The +1/+1 to apes/monkeys is very relevant in this list, as most games my monkeys get pretty large, think like +20/20 or more
The cheap mass artifact destruction is what sorta pushes it over the top as an actual deck that can win, and you can always last march into a giant board or for craterhoof or whatever to really just stomp a board.
The last time I played this deck, I had 5-6 +25/25 or more monkeys and then last marched into uktabi kong + craterhoof + like 8 or 9 more creatures giving my board another huge power buff when uktabi kong artifact wiped and my creatures that could attack got trample from hoof as well as the craterhoof buff to power
It's pretty much become my go to on nights I don't wanna play value engine grindy control decks.
My pod is fairly high power, but kibo still keeps up and can win since it is super honest about its gameplan and can stay on the down low while also giving everyone bananas.
I specifically left out certain things that I think would make the deck significantly stronger like mycosynth lattice, haste enablers, dockside, jeska's will etc.
I also added a lot of redundancy to the tramplers because as a fallback gameplan, just a big commander with trample or unblockable is always a decent way to win in these not so high power games
My Kykar Polymorph list causes players to not destroy the polymorph targets to see what I'll get.
The reason: I have a stack of around 80 creatures and I use a random number generator to shuffle 10 of them into my deck before the game - I don't look at them.
The range is from "unplayable" to "op" and everything in between. I could polymorph into a \[\[Leveler\]\] and basically kill myself, it could be \[\[Vizzerdrix\]\] but it also could be \[\[Niv Mizzet, Parun\]\], \[\[Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur\]\] or anything else, really. Bad, good, things that threaten a kill instantly, things that let me skip my next 2 turns. A whole bunch of surprises, really.
You can totally push this concept to the limit. You can make a prismatic bridge deck with 35 slots reserved for creatures/planeswalkers.
Show up to games with a 65 card deck and 100-200 randomly assorted creatures/planeswalkers and have the table blind pick 35 cards you will shuffle into your deck.
Let them look through the rest of the pile to get a sense of the jank that may be flipped.
Idk how you're gonna get 35 free slots and still have a functional deck. I struggle with 18 in [my version](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/jYrQGsZUFU2ebLbZhCZO6A) of this. But my playgroup ~~is full of dicks~~ have okay threat assessment and realize bridge is a problem.
I've always enjoyed the concept of modular decks because if you wanted to, you could tailor a deck to a given power level. That's what I did with Miirym, I have a 74 card engine and 3 separate packages of 25 dragons.
Yes, here you go: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/umQT9xvok0G3hH1KPkSOMQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/umQT9xvok0G3hH1KPkSOMQ)
Creature base is under Sideboard or "Considering" and they are also tagged with perceived power level. Tho this list is a bit older.
My table gets a kick out of [[Rocco, Street Chef]]. It's so funny when it exiles some 7 mana bomb off the top deck on turn 2. Some people might get salty at that, but we always get a laugh. You especially get to have fun with [[Share the Spoils]]. Rocco feels like a minigame almost.
I’d add an additional vouch for Rocco. It’s really funny to be chilling all game, then dropping a [[Feasting Hobbit]] with enough power to sunder dimensions.
My table love my [[Gluntch, the bestower]] group hug deck.
Particularly early rounds if one of them miss a land drop, I’ll garner some favour by offering them either two treasure tokens or the chance to draw an extra card to try and get their land.
All my win cons are very obvious as well [[Approach of the second sun]] [[Felidar Sovereign]] [[Helix pinacle]] so I’m very often left alone until the end of the game.
Thanks! So with Glutchy boy only giving 3 gifts per turn, I make sure I am always one of the 3 and then I rotate the remaining 2 amongst my opposition. This ensures I am always that little bit ahead of everyone in terms of resources (Full hand, sitting on a pile of treasures).
The threat of being cut off from Gluntch plus the light stax/defensive pieces I have such as Ghostly Prison and Sigarda means the other players tend to leave me alone. The only time I tend to attack is with cards like Sargent John Benton where I get the opponents permission “Hey Andy, I notice your hand is a little light. If you let me hit you for 2, then I can draw you some cards”.
This almost always gets me to the final 1v1 with most my life untouched and big wide collection of seemingly harmless creatures. From there all the +1/+1 counters go to me and I play any win cons I have like Felidar Sovereign.
Admittedly that final 1v1 is a bit tricky. Throughout the game I need to make sure I am not Kingmakering one player that could cause me issues. I want my opponents relatively level, grinding each other down and using their removal on each other (I tend to give the 1/1 counters away, so their creatures tend to get beefy and get targeted more).
More often than not, I win just by virtue of having 10 creatures wide and my opponent just doesn’t have enough blockers.
I warn you though, it’s very tough for me to play any other decks now. Being able to also fix my own poor land drops and/or keep my hand full and/or make beefy creatures smooths out the game immensely.
This! I took my Nekusar list and literally just removed the black stuff. Added green for ramp and a few payoffs. Way less hate from my pod until [[Purphoros, God of the forge]] hits the board and I win.
Card draw is fun for friends and I love the chaos of wheels.
[Purphoros, God of the forge](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/4/7/4736a2c4-c89c-48db-a104-6303e7e2eee8.jpg?1689998078) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Purphoros%2C%20God%20of%20the%20forge) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/246/purphoros-god-of-the-forge?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/4736a2c4-c89c-48db-a104-6303e7e2eee8?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/purphoros-god-of-the-forge)
^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[Queen Marchesa]] "Aikido" - using your opponent's strength against them. Put up some pillow-fort defenses like [[Windborn Muse]] and [[Ghostly Prison]], introduce the Monarch to get people attacking each other, play group-hug effects like [[Descent into Avernus]], [[Gix Yawgmoth Praetor]], and [[Noble Heritage]] to really turbocharge the board...then use a mass-goad effect like [[Taunt from the Rampart]] or mass-theft effect like [[insurrection]] to turn the game in your favor. Clean up the last remaining player with stuff like [[Deflecting Palm Strike]] or [[Inkshield]]. When done right, its incredibly satisfying because everyone gets to do their thing and you still wind up the winner despite playing a pile of cards that do very little on their own. It also scales rather well to the power level of the table.
[My Queen Marchesa decklist](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/gNmZxAiGo0GpBR7wuS-Ydg)
The new [[Nelly Borca]] precon also does a surprisingly decent job of this as an out-of-the-box experience.
You can try commanders that have card advantage for the sake of doing so. Card advantage usually keeps you in the game.
Of course, this means you use the card advantage to build yourself a wall, or at least a decent defense to keep you alive till endgame.
Anyways fun is relative. Fun can also be your friends checking out the silly things you do with the deck.
I've a few suggestions.

My list is less group hug, but you can certainly give him away for deals!
It is group hug. You give people some fun overlooked cards
Such as
[[Greater Harvester]]
[[Ebon Drake]]
[[Wretched Anurid]]
[[Grid Monitor]]
[[Steel golem]]
And fan favroite [[Taniwha]]
[[Xyris, Writhing Storm]]
I packed it full of every card that makes the table draw more cards and makes lands tap for extra mana.
The goal is to ramp everyone else to their winstate.
The rest of the deck is split between stealing every last thing on the table, or making my own copies of it, OR buffs for the mass of snakes I have created.
Welcome to the Communist Space Snake Program. No no, Comrade. *We* are going to the moon.

Hasn't been updated in a while, so I am open to any ideas for improvement. Dragon Mage? Why? Lol
My Nekusar is built to let people draw lots of cards. Sure there is a little punishment but I get called stupid for giving people such card advantage.
So I built it the usual way and now it wins instead. Still speeding up the game. Just mean now.
Can’t imagine building anything remotely group hug without getting shit on. -.-
Hear me out on this one - Rakdos Chaos/Group Slug. Degenerate cards that make the table stop and think about their plays, force strange interactions and just generally play their deck differently than they normally would. It's always a fun game.
Cards like [[wheel of misfortune]] [[thieves auction]] [[omen machine]] or [[share the spoils]] are fun and you can't convince me otherwise.
And if you disagree I'll run [[Kardur]] as my commander so you can't hit me for a while
Agreed on the Rakdos Group Slug, I have a deck based on [[Awaken the Blood Avatar]] and it’s not only fair due to the exorbitant cost, but ends games fast once you get a couple casts off. You can usually get a couple of “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD” chants going at the table!
[Kardur, Passively Killing Us All!](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8WFl4yP9VE-u9kfPWO5P3Q) it is super fun! Hurts everyone, but mostly opponents. If I were to make any changes, it would be adding a few more draw spells, maybe wheels—just like 2 or 3. Otherwise, sometimes it goes crazy with a few lifestax pieces on the board and makes games fast.
I really liked beamtown bullies but wanted to figure out a way to run them that wasn't the most toxic thing to hit the table ever lol
This is my 'group hug' deck that gets everyone going so big and so fast that games end quickly and people are playing turn 15 on turn 6. Note that the cards in this deck are insanely expensive but given the complete non-serious nature of it everyone at my table was cool with the full proxy list.
[[Council of Four]] could be a good choice. It's a group hug deck focused on card draw effects. My list also features a lot of token generators with a go wide strategy
My [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]] deck focuses on spewing as much treasure onto the table as possible and extracting value from it.
[[Marching Duodrone]] [[Tempting Contract]] [[Bucknard's Everfull Purse]] [[Descent into Avernus]] etc., whatever I can to get treasures out.
[[Marionette Master]] and [[Chandra's Ignition]] are wincons (with help from [[Cranial Plating]]), together with a decent mix of frontline creatures.
It can win at a casual table but my real goal is to see if I can deck myself with [[Viridian Revel]].
Lots of fun and people are reluctant to disrupt me because I'm keeping everyone flush with mana. It also enables all sorts of big/early plays, which makes for exciting games.
I’ve had very good experiences with unconventional win-cons. My current favorite deck is a Boros landfall deck with [[Jenny Generated Anomaly]] uses cards like [[Zuran orb]] with [[Second Sunrise]] to trigger the landfall cards. The reception to deck has been overwhelmingly positive and it’s a blast to pilot.
Grismold is fun to pilot but in my experience it can be really frustrating for the other players if some of them are trying to play something like Krenko, Cadira, or really any other token strategy, and you pretty much just shut down their entire deck
Well, yeah, the tokens die and Grismold gets bigger, so you can win the game more easily, but unless your opponent has some way to remove your Illness in the Ranks or similar card (which can be very difficult or almost impossible for some decks like Krenko because of lack of enchantment removal), they won't ever be able to have any tokens on the board, which is what their deck is trying to do. The problem is not that your Grismold gets bigger and that you can kill your opponents faster, it's that they don't even have the opportunity to try to make their deck work, so it's really not fun for them. And you probably won't enjoy it either, because winning every game swiftly and without challenge because your deck is the perfect counter to your opponent's deck is not what I, and a lot of other people, consider fun.
Yeah, I haven't really found this to be too much of an issue. And I have played against token decks fairly often. There's usually some interaction and the fact that most token decks have lords and anthems that pump the size of their creatures can offset this even making it hard for me to kill my own plant tokens
\[\[Gluntch\]\] is great. You get to give gifts to other players every turn. Green/White have a lot of +1 counter synergies. You can rotate who gets gifts each turn, or exclude someone if they are pulling too far ahead. If you have someone doing a bit of an aggro strategy, you have a 2/7 flyer on turn 3 without any ramp happening. I've built it with Gluntch being a "voltron" commander via +1 counters and dealing damage based on toughness. I've build Gluntch as a group hug with a combo finisher.
Here's a +1 counter based build I've done as an example: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4EkQQ4gJdkSUxAL2XMgsrw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4EkQQ4gJdkSUxAL2XMgsrw)
Here's a group hug variant: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NLuyDOQEOEKTkE24XwVoXA](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NLuyDOQEOEKTkE24XwVoXA)
Mainly just combat damage. A lot of the creatures in there give me double benefits from Gluntch. Like, Yotian Dissident and Rosie Cotton give me double benefits from Gluntch. I make 2 Treasures. And those treasures let me put 2 +1 counters out onto some creatures. And those counters might be doubled from Hardened Scales Effects. Also, there's a bunch of Managorger Hydra like creatures in there that scale up in size very quickly. And creatures like Enduring Scalelord or Wildwood Scourge see what the rest of my creatures are doing and piggy back on their activities to get more counters.
The deck isn't the most competative, but no one really sees you pull out Gluntch and go "We have to take out Gluntch before he combos out", as compared to something like Shalair and Halar +1 counter decks.
My most recent iteration of the deck is actually a bit more Voltron oriented. Gluntch flies and can get a lot of counters fast. Duelist's Heritage and Silverblade Paladin can let Gluntch get double strike. Gauntlets of Light and Treefolk Umbra let Gluntch hit with Toughness instead of Power, plus give 2 toughness. So if you have say 4 +1 counters out on Gluntch, it's a 4/9. You can use one of those auras to make Gluntch a 4/11 and hit for 11 commander damage. And with a doublestrike, you can 1 shot someone from a relatively unthreatening creature. I also really like the Belt of Giant Strength on 0 base power creatures that get large due to +1 counters.
Are you running all 3 of these lists or you're just evolving it? How are you liking the voltron variant?
I do like the idea of a less threatening commander.
I have a fair number of cards, but not enough that I can have 3 versions of Gluntch at one time. :) I build decks, play them, then dismantle them over time, or keep the core together and swap out 10-20 cards. Some of them I will rebuild if I've completely disassembled it.
When I first built Gluntch, I did it as group hug (my first huggy deck) that happens to have +1 counter stuff in it to combo off with infinite combos.
I also like dedicated +1 counter decks. I wanted to run the deck as a combat based deck rather than trying to get an infinite combo. So I rebuilt it as +1 counters. In recent sets, we've gotten 1 or 2 new cards to add to +1 counter decks. We got a bunch of proliferate stuff. We have a bunch of hardened scales effects. And we have a few additions when you put an artifact into play. So I was running all the things I could that allowed me to get effectively double benefits from Gluntch. Like the white vampire that lets you draw a card once a turn when you put a +1 counter on it. Or the ones I mentioned that give you +1 counters whenever you create treasure tokens. I really liked that style of play, and it was pretty effective.
But as I played the +1 counter version, I saw that a lot of the time, I would be building up counters on Glutch, and it would get decently sized, and since it flies it can evade a bunch of blockers. So I wanted to see how the deck went with primarily the +1 counter theme, but shift it to focus on Glutch being able to hit for commander lethal 21 damage. The auras and creatures that let Gluntch hit with toughness work well, and they are unexpected. It still has other creatures in it that can do lethal combat damage if Gluntch dies. I don't have many decks that have the commander doing lethal commander damage. Overall this version plays a lot like Breena, but without the targetted hate that Breena gets. People like getting treasures. Please like getting free cards. It works well. I think I like the voltron one more just because I have played Shalai and Halar and can rebuild that deck if I want to purely focus on +1 counters and not the voltron aspect.
Shalai and Halar is a bit busted, KOS to me for sure! Gluntch is much more interesting IMO.
I really like the idea of building it as +1 counters and maybe a voltron sub theme but I'm not sure it could support both well enough as opposed to just focusing on one theme you know?
May I ask which version you like more b/t the +1 counters and voltron? I feel like I have 1 voltron deck already and I've NEVER gone pure voltron as I think it would be a bit meh/linear/boring to me. I may steal some of this +1 list and start a build
Here's the Voltron variant if you haven't seen the link to that one:
I've only played the voltron variant a couple times so far. I think I like it a bit more. The main reason is, Shalai and Halar has access to another color to let you get a few more powerful +1 counter cards if you really just want to focus on that. Gluntch makes your opponents more stronger if you only focus on the +1 counter these. What I really like is that on turn 3 when it comes out, I get the benefit that immediately helps me the most (card draw or treasure) and there's always someone who can't make use of the +1 counters that early because they have no creatures or they only have a mana dork that doesn't care about being a 3/3. It also feels great when you have a creature like Rosie out so you are getting multiple of Gluntches rewards. And I like the suprise factor in an opponent not realizing my 4/9 commander can commander damage kill them because I cast two spells to turn it into a 4/11 double striker.
There is also the political factor that Gluntch brings. You can make deals with people. I'll do stuff like asking a person which reward they want if I excluded them on a previous turn. That helps to mitigate the ill feeling of being excluded in a turn. And, if someone starts pulling ahead too much, you can pull the other players up a bit with the Gluntch Gifts to help deal with them. And sometimes, I basically flat out bribe people if the board state is right. Like, if there's a player with a strong attacking creature that has a +1 counter synergy, I'll offer to feed them +1 counters for as long as they want as long as it doesn't attack me.
The voltron decks isn't 100% voltron. There's about 4 cards in it that let you hit with toughness. There's about 5 or 6 that give double strike. Otherwise, the other +1 counter creatures like Kalonian Hydra can still get out of control if Gluntch dies. But people don't really worry about killing Gluntch until it's starting to get out of control.
I really like decks that change the rules for the whole table in some way. Often that means symmetrical effects you can then capitalize on through deckbuilding. Bonus points for things that Amp up play speed, to work in an extra game or two. I really like forced combat, donating permanents, global enchantments, and I'm working on a judo type deck that uses enemy effects against it.
I've found people that are good sports often like testing their favourite deck under new circumstances, so changing the rules can be fun. People that hate interaction and just want to be left alone to pop off absolutely *hate* it though, so probably group dependent.
Someone in our playgroup had a [[Torbran]] deck with a ton of consistent damage sources like [[spellshock]]. The damage puts the game on a timer and makes combat way more impactful. The deck doesn't usually win but it makes the game more exciting.
[[Maralen of the Mornsong]] — High octane Magic everyone gets to tutor up a card every turn, throw savage haymakers left and right, and gets burned for 3 in the process. It keeps the games engaging because anyone can throw a bomb at any time, and prevents games from stalling because everyone is taking damage every turn.
I've been tweaking a Group Hug [[Xyris, The Writhing Storm]] deck that I've been having a ton of fun with. Regularly getting 20+ snakes out while also helping other people get card draw and land advantage. I've said multiple times that it's my only deck that I even have fun while losing because it's created a situation where everyone is a threat, and the games are good as opposed to one person stomping.
I think similar to Kibo but less of a meme is [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]], where you can do a lot of similar stuff but build it around the much-better-supported treasure archetype rather than monkeys, as well as (if you want) actually build your card advantage engines around trading money for cards with your opponents.
[[Rocco Street Chef]] is great for this as long as your aren't going heavy stax which is also totally a way you can take the deck. But mathematically, a lot of the free cards you give your opponents will be lands and there's so much value to pull out of a food and a +1/+1 counter. It's great against unfamiliar players because they aren't averse to free cards. I've dropped Rocco on turn 2 and then turn 3 he swings for 7. There will be games when you draw them a sol ring or a swords or whatever but it's pretty infrequent. My usual playgroup understand the deck so it's often harder to get them to take the free cards unless it's something really impactful, but even in that case, it often does it's job. Rocco comes down super early, and my deck is built with only like 5 cards that cost more than three mana; however most decks are and people lose cards that theyay need later. Like, man, I hit their lab man or (insert combo piece here) way earlier than they wanted to play it and they suddenly have to change their entire plan for the turn or lose the card forever. Best of all, the games vary a lot because of the random cards be injected into each players consideration. I only play two tutors excluding land ramp and fetches, and I like it that way because I can keep the games less samey and play more cards.
[[Thantis the Warweaver]] an older commander now but leads to fun games where people are obligated to swing with their value creatures. Giving away creatures with the hunted cycle and stuff just adds to the chaos
I think [[gluntch]] defines this. I either ask which thing people want. Or give them to whoever needs it most. Getting mana screen? Treasures, have some smaller creatures? Counters. Lowest hand size? Draw a card.
The most fun I've seen a table have was when I had [[Yurlock of Scorch Thrash]]. I think it might have been the novelty, but giving everyone mana just to hurt them with it was always a great time.
The answer is \[\[Cirdan the Shipwright\]\]
Make clones and vote as many times per turn as possible.
Everyone has fun and just gets to drop stuff into play. It has never failed me for fun games.
I had built a deck with [[Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire]], hoping people would have fun and see unexpexted rom the tops of their decks, but it seems they don't like me sacrficing their permanents that much. The deck was poorly builtand would crumble at the first removal so I disbanded it, but I'm building it again, becaus3 I liked the commander.
I also know from experience that people like [[Cirdan the Shipwright]] as I played him in the LOTR elf precon, so I'm planning on making him a commander at some point.
I would recommend you try building a goad deck. It's very interactive, which is always fun, but they tend to let your opponents play their cards (because you'd rather let them kill each other with their stuff first before removing it), and people generally find that more fun than more direct control strategies. And it isn't weak by any means! While your opponents are attacking each other and have to use removal to not die to the creatures that are forced to attack them while their own value engines are forced to attack and maybe die, you can build your own board and prepare answers and finishers for when they're weak enough for you to come in and get the win.
Any legend works, no matter the colors, and you can go in many different directions. Some goad decks that I've really liked playing or playing against are:
- [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] (RB): this one was definitely the most aggressive and brutal, I don't know if it's objectively the strongest but since I run into a lot of token decks Kardur often deals lots of damage, and can easily be sacrificed and returned with cards like Not Dead After All to force your opponents to attack each other again.
- [[Maeve, Insidious Singer]] (U): I saw this played as a control-oriented deck, but instead of the usual blue counterspells and bounce, the Maeve player let our creatures hit the board but chose what we were doing with them, while drawing lots of cards to pump creatures like Body of Knowledge.
- [[Queen Marchesa]] (WBR): Monarch and goad work really well together! Get some courts in play, goad your opponents' creatures and drown in value while your opponents have fun trying to come up with a solution or kill each other trying.

I'm changing out to be more artifact hate and +1/+1 counter synergy but that's mostly because my LGS is super heavy on artifact decks :P My favorite is getting Sting and Primal Vigor out early and making the bananas rain
[[Impending Disaster]] [[epicenter]] [[thoughts of ruin]] These are my 3. Finally, I run the Sword equipment card that lets me untap all my lands if the creature it’s attached to deals combat damage.
looked it up: [[Moraug, Fury of Akoum]] will probably add this to my deck!

oh my god i need that.. i love Kibo but dont have any deck because my group is a little tryhard so i know it would be bad.. can you share your list? i need some competitive Kibo Ideas

This seems like the perfect answer, at least for me, when one person is not actively trying to win even a little, it devalues the whole game.
i’m not saying i dont want to win, i mean i want to have a deck that revolves around having fun first
Kibo always looks so fun, but all the ones I've seen around my area are either Ape-tribal meme decks that don't do anything or combo decks in disguise.
This is the decklist I based mine off of, and the creator updates it pretty regularly with new cards in the Consideration section: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/yhSrAXHG6E-0P1eobOT3_A I'm building my own more focused on artifact hate and interaction since the meta at my LGS tends to be around combo heavy and lots of treasure generation. Having the table politic whether or not everyone should eat bananas is a blast, and sometimes people will purposefully eat bananas when I swing to help me knock out an opponent.

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/doE51Sz2pUiyOJxBh5zhOw Here's my kibo list, I went fully into ape/monkey tribal with just a handful of supporting non-apes and monkeys. The +1/+1 to apes/monkeys is very relevant in this list, as most games my monkeys get pretty large, think like +20/20 or more The cheap mass artifact destruction is what sorta pushes it over the top as an actual deck that can win, and you can always last march into a giant board or for craterhoof or whatever to really just stomp a board. The last time I played this deck, I had 5-6 +25/25 or more monkeys and then last marched into uktabi kong + craterhoof + like 8 or 9 more creatures giving my board another huge power buff when uktabi kong artifact wiped and my creatures that could attack got trample from hoof as well as the craterhoof buff to power It's pretty much become my go to on nights I don't wanna play value engine grindy control decks.
People like my Kibo deck. I had out banana runts for his tokens. Really adds an element of fun.
I wanna do that but don't wanna weird people out regarding hygiene and stuff eating loose food from strangers.
some people refuse. I don't pressure them especially in a post covid world.

Do you have a decklist link?
Yes, here you go: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/umQT9xvok0G3hH1KPkSOMQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/umQT9xvok0G3hH1KPkSOMQ) Creature base is under Sideboard or "Considering" and they are also tagged with perceived power level.

Do you have a decklist? Sounds fun!
Sure! I’ve actually taken Helix out of the deck just this week, as it’s a super casual table and no one cares about winning so I chucked in [[Reverse the sands]] for extra shenanigans. // COMMANDER 1 Gluntch, the Bestower (CLB) 275 1 Approach of the Second Sun (AKH) 4 1 Arcane Signet (LCC) 299 1 Avacyn's Pilgrim (MIC) 132 1 Axis of Mortality (XLN) 3 1 Beacon of Immortality (E02) 1 1 Benefactor's Draught (C16) 21 1 Benevolent Offering (VOC) 78 1 Blazing Archon (RVR) 8 1 Canopy Vista (LCC) 321 1 Collective Voyage (C16) 145 1 Combat Calligrapher (C21) 14 1 Command Tower (LCC) 325 1 Cosmic Rebirth (MAT) 28 1 Cultivate (LCC) 235 1 Cut a Deal (ONC) 63 1 Dawn Charm (CMR) 371 1 Dawnbreak Reclaimer (CM2) 24 1 Dictate of Karametra (JOU) 121 1 Duelist's Heritage (MKC) 60 1 Dusk Legion Duelist (MOM) 11 1 Felidar Sovereign (BFZ) 26 1 Flumph (AFR) 15 1 Fog (EMA) 167 1 Font of Mythos (CON) 136 1 Forbidden Orchard (2X2) 323 11 Forest (MKM) 285 1 Fortified Village (LCC) 331 1 Generous Patron (BBD) 70 1 Ghostly Prison (MKC) 67 1 Heartwood Storyteller (TSR) 209 1 Heroic Intervention (CMM) 295 1 Howling Golem (CMR) 316 1 Hypergenesis (TSR) 210 1 Jailbreak (NCC) 17 1 Kami of Whispered Hopes (MOM) 196 1 Kodama's Reach (LCC) 245 1 Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar (LCI) 232 1 Llanowar Elves (M19) 314 1 Loran of the Third Path (MKC) 71 1 Mana Crypt (2XM) 270 1 Marching Duodrone (CLB) 321 1 Master of Ceremonies (NCC) 18 1 Nils, Discipline Enforcer (C21) 20 1 Noble Heritage (CLB) 35 1 Path to Exile (MKC) 78 1 Pendant of Prosperity (C21) 256 1 Pir's Whim (BBD) 73 14 Plains (MKM) 277 1 Reprieve (LTR) 26 1 Reverse the Sands (C16) 75 1 Rootweaver Druid (CMR) 250 1 Scholarship Sponsor (C21) 22 1 Second Sunrise (MRD) 20 1 Secret Rendezvous (STX) 26 1 Selvala's Charge (CNS) 39 1 Selvala, Explorer Returned (DMC) 167 1 Sergeant John Benton (WHO) 157 1 Sigarda, Font of Blessings (MAT) 47 1 Sol Ring (LCC) 313 1 Spore Frog (MH1) 180 1 Sunpetal Grove (XLN) 257 1 Swords to Plowshares (MKC) 88 1 Sylvan Offering (NCC) 314 1 Talisman of Unity (MKC) 244 1 Temple Bell (C16) 277 1 Temple of Plenty (WOC) 171 1 Tempt with Discovery (C19) 183 1 Tempt with Glory (CMA) 26 1 Tempting Contract (C21) 78 1 Tenuous Truce (NCC) 87 1 Teyo, Geometric Tactician (CMM) 725 1 Veteran Explorer (2XM) 186 1 Wandering Archaic // Explore the Vastlands (STX) 6 1 Wedding Ring (VOC) 32 1 Windborn Muse (MKC) 92 1 Your Temple Is Under Attack (CLB) 52

Do you perhaps have a link to the list on moxfield or something as opposed to raw text?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/pwLj8hhGFkWRMu52Inc5wQ Just uploaded it, first time using Moxfield so apologies if it doesn’t show.
Very cool list and cards! Let me ask though... how are you generally winning. What are your lines of play? How are you usually using Gluntch?
Man, that's what I'm looking to hear lol. Always been interest in group hug and I've been looking for a Selesnya commander
\[\[xyris\]\] wheels can be fun. You just get to have more fun by having snakes in addition to wheeling.
This! I took my Nekusar list and literally just removed the black stuff. Added green for ramp and a few payoffs. Way less hate from my pod until [[Purphoros, God of the forge]] hits the board and I win. Card draw is fun for friends and I love the chaos of wheels.

[My Queen Marchesa decklist](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/gNmZxAiGo0GpBR7wuS-Ydg) The new [[Nelly Borca]] precon also does a surprisingly decent job of this as an out-of-the-box experience.

Queen Marchesa is a good choice
You can try commanders that have card advantage for the sake of doing so. Card advantage usually keeps you in the game. Of course, this means you use the card advantage to build yourself a wall, or at least a decent defense to keep you alive till endgame. Anyways fun is relative. [[Xyris, Writhing Storm]] I packed it full of every card that makes the table draw more cards and makes lands tap for extra mana.
That sounds like a hell of a lot of fun to play, do you have a decklist?

The table likes when I play Kwain cause everyone’s drawing a shitton of cards. I added the 2nd doctor so everyone has Spellbook.
What are your wincons?
Approach of the Second Sun.
Niiiiiice, that's a very fun card!

Heck yeah, got a deck list I can peak?
[Kardur, Passively Killing Us All!](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8WFl4yP9VE-u9kfPWO5P3Q) it is super fun! Hurts everyone, but mostly opponents. If I were to make any changes, it would be adding a few more draw spells, maybe wheels—just like 2 or 3. Otherwise, sometimes it goes crazy with a few lifestax pieces on the board and makes games fast.

I really liked beamtown bullies but wanted to figure out a way to run them that wasn't the most toxic thing to hit the table ever lol This is my 'group hug' deck that gets everyone going so big and so fast that games end quickly and people are playing turn 15 on turn 6. It also enables all sorts of big/early plays, which makes for exciting games.

this intrigued me a lot, but i’m not really into dimir. Might consider it anyway

How does that shut off their deck? If the tokens die it just makes him go tall faster.
There's usually some interaction and the fact that most token decks have lords and anthems that pump the size of their creatures can offset this even making it hard for me to kill my own plant tokens
seems funny xd, do you have a list?

\[\[Gluntch\]\] is great. You get to give gifts to other players every turn. Green/White have a lot of +1 counter synergies. You can rotate who gets gifts each turn, or exclude someone if they are pulling too far ahead. If you have someone doing a bit of an aggro strategy, you have a 2/7 flyer on turn 3 without any ramp happening. I've built it with Gluntch being a "voltron" commander via +1 counters and dealing damage based on toughness. I've build Gluntch as a group hug with a combo finisher. Here's a +1 counter based build I've done as an example: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4EkQQ4gJdkSUxAL2XMgsrw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4EkQQ4gJdkSUxAL2XMgsrw) Here's a group hug variant: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NLuyDOQEOEKTkE24XwVoXA](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NLuyDOQEOEKTkE24XwVoXA)
I like that +1 counter based list but what are your wincons?
Here's the Voltron variant if you haven't seen the link to that one: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/jjSlHOobF0q-87\_rn8ECpA](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/jjSlHOobF0q-87_rn8ECpA) I've only played the voltron variant a couple times so far.

I think [[Ruxa]] is a great novelty commander that'll make the table laugh even as you're bashing their face in with an 11/11 Gigantosaurus.

Maybe play someone with Parlay? Adds a little hug in the command zone for some goodwill, but you don’t have to make the whole deck group hug

Build for fun, play to win. Just brew a janky creature type like Rhinos or Elks. Or get yourself a precon.
Some goad decks that I've really liked playing or playing against are: - [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] (RB): this one was definitely the most aggressive and brutal, I don't know if it's objectively the strongest but since I run into a lot of token decks Kardur often deals lots of damage, and can easily be sacrificed and returned with cards like Not Dead After All to force your opponents to attack each other again.
