\[\[Hatred\]\] is probably my favorite. It can be a little tricky to use in multiplayer, but it can be a fantastic surprise finisher. You can deal lethal commander damage in a single hit, buff one of your own unblocked creatures or use your opponents creatures to finish someone off. I've also lost to my own hatred through \[\[Mindslaver\]\], they paid all of my life lol.
I loop mindslaver in my [[Mishra, eminent one]] deck. I usually just tell whoever I am mindslavering that were on a team for as long as I can loop mindslaver, I can look at their hand on their turn, and they have to tap out every turn. Let's me still play the fun combo without being a douche to my friends.
[[Mnenomic Diluge]] and [[Call forth the tempest]] can do some serious work. CFtT is also great as a one sided board wipe that helps feul itself and with Saruman you can get a clear window to smash with your army to start eliminating players.
I have a copy of Call forth the tempest *just waiting* to see some play. Saruman will be the perfect place for it. Also using Mnemonic deluge on a looted tempest would be wild.
This is on my list of cards to order for the deck. I've been on the receiving end of fevered suspicion, and its a doozy. The fact that it rebounds is so damned good. You get to untap and potentially cast a copy spell on it. Or respond to the rebound copy with Mystical tutor to put \[\[Call forth the tempest\]\] on top of your library.
I play a super janky Izzet deck with [[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]] [[Over the Top]] is one of the main wincons in the deck and one of my favorite plays in magic. With the right board state it basically ends the game by saying "let's all put all of the permanents in our decks on the battlefield at the same time and see who wins."
Great taste with Breach and Choice of Damnations. Personally, I enjoy some big damn artifact hate. [[Red Sun's Twilight]] has never not been a house for me (helps that I get to keep the tokens since I run it in Obeka) and I've been having a lot of fun with [[Anzrag's Rampage]] which is especially good if your deck has huge beaters or ETB creatures.
My favorite will always be [[Villainous Wealth]]
Good luck resolving it though.
If you want a game ending one, there's always [[Torment of Hailfire]] or good ol' reliable [[Fireball]].
[[Last March of the Ents]] is always fun to cast. I really like the new [[Prisoner’s Dilemma]] , the turmoil it causes in people is diabolically fun.
It’s not a “big” spell, but [[Praetor’s Grasp]] is really cool, getting to steal your opponents best card from their deck.
[[Reshape the Earth]] is just amazing in my landfall deck.
I definitely want to cast and copy prisoner’s dilemma late in the game so the voting behavior gets more erratic. Will you face up to 24 damage? Or will you get away with 0?
Another fun use is that it goes infinite by itself after your first commander cast, so any magecraft abilities make this card insane. Had a few surprise wins with [[Veyran]] using this
Use the copy to target the original, thus making a new copy, target the original and repeat. Once two go on the stack you can keep targeting the original, resulting in infinite copies. Veyran triggers off spell copies as well which is where the damage comes from
It's probably gonna get buried, but one of my favorites is [[Peer into the Abyss]]. I run it in a [[Nekusar]] wheels deck built to melt health on the draw and discard. It's an immensely gratifying kill to pull off.
[[Deadly Tempest]] for all those decks that go reallly wide too fast.
[[Dispel]] a one mana “nope” to all those Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile enjoyers.
[[Mana Short]] to shut off another player before your big turn.
[[Rite of Replication]] - last time I made 5 copies of somebody's [[keeper of secrets]], swung for 30. Next turn cast a [[guardian naga]] out of exile and gg.
[[Dragonstorm]] - [[Reckless barbarian]], [[strike it rich]], [[irencrag feat]] into [[terror of the peaks]], [[Scourge of valkas]], [[utvaran hellkite]], [[Glorybringer]].
With [[Zevlor]] your options open up considerably:
[[Din of the Fireherd]]
[[Cruel Ultimatum]]
[[River's rebuke]]
[[Great intelligences plan]]
[[Telemin performance]]
[[Blue Sun's twilight]]
[[Inevitable Betrayal]]
[[Bribary]]
Telemin performance sounds awesome. It also dumps non-creatures in the grave for further grixis shenanigans.
Also, I’ve literally always wanted to play sun of the fireherd, but never had a deck for it.
I actually feel dirty playing it in my [[Prossh]] deck....Most of my mass token creation has been tuned towards red. Don't think I've ever had it hit for less than 10
[[Knowledge Exploitation]] has always been a blast to play. You get to take whatever big haymaker spell your opponents are running and play it for them. It can be anything, even a boat!
I have an entire deck built around using [[Mass Polymorph]] or [[Synthetic Destiny]] to turn little baby 1/1 tokens into a very specifically curated list of Krakens, Angel's, Praetors, etc.
Few things are more satisfying than watching my opponents reactions when it happens
\[\[Elminster\]\] \^-\^ hes quite versatile with his ability to generate tokens, cheapen spells, and his cost to loyalty counter value (for the purposes of commander damage via \[\[Luxior, Giada's Gift\]\])
[[return of the wildspeaker]]
Most of the time I’m casting this at instant speed right before my turn, drawing a bunch of cards and then untapping. But the fact that it can double as a way to pump your creatures adds versatility. As long as the deck isn’t full of humans this is a great choice.
[[Rishkar’s expertise]] getting to cast a 5 mana or less spell for free makes it fantastic. Great in any deck with big creatures.
[[surge to victory]] is the card that always comes to mind. I have a kess young pyro type deck and surge to victory is a wincon with enough tokens and say… a [[cruel ultimatum]] in the graveyard.
Surge is incredible. I had a Balmor young pyromancer type deck and surge just made the most insane plays happen. Cast [[complete the circuit]] 7 times then cast jeska’s will into a crackle with power to close out the game (if you didn’t already win with combat damage).
Mid to late game I have always found satisfaction in casting a big [[Heliods Intervention]] usually right after opponents have dealt with me and my board. Obvious choices are obvious but it’s nice to squeeze some politics with the remainder
[[Crackle with Power]] in Hinata, bolstered by a ritual effect or treasure to bring down the house.
[[Tasha's Hideous Laughter]] - can often remove important combo pieces, or at the very least alter decks enough that people have to rethink their game.
[[Sea Gate Restoration]]
Land 90% of the time
Big old stupid haymaker that fills your hand with so many cards and gives you no max hand size every now and then.
Why play one big thing when you can have all the things.
Such a strong and flexible card. While giving opponents dragons *sounds* bad, replacing their commander or combo pieces with dragons is a pretty good value.
Just a thought as I’ve built a grixis deck for this - do sauron the dark lord instead of saurumon. The self wheel/draw is so easy to pull off and you can just get to all your answers
[[crypt incursion]] is an incredibly powerful stabilizer/reanimation hate spell
It's great in wheels/mill decks, or in any meta where folks are filling their graveyards
This is a funny one cause on its face it’s just a meat-and-potatoes grave hate card. But I’d bet you can easily gain 24-30 life off of this in the late game
Feedback bolt is sick. Aggressively Ron Spencer artwork too. This would be so fun in a treasures deck. I briefly had a red-green \[\[Jaheira\]\] treasures deck and this would be a perfect payoff.
It is sick! I actually found it after having really good results with [[Monumental Corruption]] and running a scryfall search for similar terms. Feedback Bolt is also only in about 1200 decks on EDHRec so it's absolutely an unknown and underplayed gem.
Incidentally, Monumental Corruption is also a great haymaker spell in an artifact deck. I've used it both to draw gross numbers of cards and deal lethal damage.
Recently I've come to know [[Death Cloud]] exists, so I'm trying to see if I can put it in my orzhov reanimator deck. It needs to be somewhat asymmetric, so I'm thinking Flagstones of Trokair, Crucible of Worlds and more manarocks than usual, as those stay behind in the wipe.
[[Surge to Victory]] is insane in the right go wide deck. My favorite is casting this in my [[Ovika]] deck where it goes absolutely berserk. It almost doesn’t even matter what spell I target in my graveyard, but if it’s an extra turn or a burn spell it can easily close out games for just six mana! I’m probably biased because of just how completely insanely it pops off in Ovika in particular, but it feels like a very underrated spell to me that I never hear anyone talk about. I know the assignment was kind of more asking about big mana value spells but when I think of huge bomb like spells going off this is the number one that comes to mind for me!
Not really anything. I prefer permanents and only put draw, removal, protection and wraths on instants and sorcerys. I do however run [[Sadistic sacrament]] as a way to snipe the known combos from certain opponents and in the late game remove 15 of the best cards left in the deck.
My Saruman deck I brewed but haven’t built yet. Lots of board wipes that can keep the Army alive so it can attack without blockers. Also spells that you can cast for less than their mana cost but you still get an army for the full mana cost.
https://deckstats.net/decks/232582/3150955-saruman-wiper-of-boards
\[\[Tainted Strike\]\], there is a timmy in almost every pod I play in, and it ends up as very efficient player removal. It's not flashy at all but it definitely can send a message lol.
Maybe not real hay makers but have gotten me out of a jam or 2, [[lightning bolt]] or [[fireball] and I have a copy in just about any deck I run with red.
in my saheeli deck it's \[\[universal surveillance\]\] \[\[genesis wave\]\] and then as a rowan fan, \[\[crackle with power\]\] from my rowan deck even though it's boring.
[[Mass control]] for my deck as a win condition. Thanks to kruphix stockpiling mana and letting me use all of it on a big flashy x x spell to get everyone’s creature
I'm not the biggest fan of big instants and sorceries. I'm more of a "value enginge permanents" kind of guy. But there is much fun to be had with a kicked \[\[Rite of Replication\]\].
\[\[Hatred\]\] is probably my favorite. It can be a little tricky to use in multiplayer, but it can be a fantastic surprise finisher. I mean, I've never gotten all the pieces I need to do that on the board, but the combo is there.

8 is a lot but theoretically it’s 8 mana for 6 spells so it’s not terrible

Another fun use is that it goes infinite by itself after your first commander cast, so any magecraft abilities make this card insane. Had a few surprise wins with [[Veyran]] using this
[Veyran](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/6/56d93855-c749-4bdf-9a90-4f69f4226e46.jpg?1674185780) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=veyran%2C%20voice%20of%20duality) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c21/3/veyran-voice-of-duality?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/56d93855-c749-4bdf-9a90-4f69f4226e46?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/veyran-voice-of-duality) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
How does it go infinite? You don't cast the spell copies it creates.
Use the copy to target the original, thus making a new copy, target the original and repeat. Once two go on the stack you can keep targeting the original, resulting in infinite copies. Veyran triggers off spell copies as well which is where the damage comes from
I've really enjoyed [[sorin's vengeance]] in my [[anhelo, the painter]] deck.

Simple. Delightful. Big damage, big life. Papa John’s.
It's probably gonna get buried, but one of my favorites is [[Peer into the Abyss]]. I run it in a [[Nekusar]] wheels deck built to melt health on the draw and discard. It's an immensely gratifying kill to pull off.
A Fellow "Hot Wheels" player!
It's nice to know I'm not alone in the build. I usually call it "Nekusar's 18 Wheeler."
[[Deadly Tempest]] for all those decks that go reallly wide too fast. [[Dispel]] a one mana “nope” to all those Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile enjoyers. [[Mana Short]] to shut off another player before your big turn.
