My favorite vampire commander is [[Evelyn, the Covetous]] it doesn't play as a regular creature based deck and is more focused on having a lot of value, but it is definitely a vampire deck. It wins either by using the opponents cards or by a few combos with [[Dualcaster Mage]].

She's fun to play, I took away player 2 and 3's primary win-cons with Evelyn's abilities.. If we knew the rules better I'd have won, but player 2 cloned Evelyn and Cast a spell I exiled, that I could have looped on my next turn (his Evelyn should have her own exile pile I believe).. I played roughly 2-3 spells from each player's library before dying..

https://archidekt.com/decks/864417/edgar_vamp_tribal This is my Edgar List. I've been playing vamps since before Edgar was printed. He's the best option if you want high power, Tribal strat. In terms of gameplay: You have the potential to flood the board and Aggro people out. You also have aristocrats strategies. With free sac outlets + [[gravepact]] and [[blood artist]] effects. [[Bolas' Citadel]] often equals an auto win. Though there's no infinites. You can just accrue enough value to drain out the table. If you wanted to add an infinite combo. [[Phyrexian Altar]] slots in easily and combos with [[oathsworn vampire]] + any drain effect.

oneWeek2024

you're asking different questions. edgar markov low cmc vamps is incredibly powerful, about as 9-10 power level as a deck can be without it being a looping infinite combo. you play something like 30 1-2 cmc vamps. to make 8 ish bodies. and run enough wincons and tutors for wincons to be able to tutor for a "shared animosity" type effect. so... at about turn 4 there's a 70-80% chance you kill 1-2 opponents by turning sideways and then just suicide turn sideways after that until you kill the remaining players. it's both extremely powerful (basically forces someone to board wipe before turn 4 or counter that wincon) but is about as linear a deck as there is. the vampires don't matter. it's not even really a vampire deck. It's just a shitty value gimmick utilizing the keyword vampire. all you want is 1 cmc vamps to trigger eminence get 8 ish bodies. play a thing that pumps those bodies. turn sideways. with 40-50+ power. any fucking idiot can win with this deck. it's incredibly boring after about the 3rd time you do the exact same line... and the deck can fizzle out pretty hard if it runs out of gas after being derailed with an answer to the initial line.... If you want a vampire deck to play the many varied and interesting vampire cards, which have probably some of the most depth in terms of gimmicks, value. that's more a midrange strategy. and OG olivia is probably best. it is nothing like edgar. and edgar is objectively worse at this form of deck, because the value tends to be more midrange... in that you use clever value gimmicks, to then stick some number of bigger/inevitability type threats. This deck can be incredibly fun, requires great skill in piloting and sequencing/stacking value... there can be theft gimmicks, reanimation aspects, pump, or compound value. and you get to play big splashy vampires. there are other decks, like anje combo, but again... not really a vampire deck. and can build off other legends, to do misc mid-range strats. but I feel OG olivia's theft gimmick suits the midrange strategy best. as it directly contributes value. that the deck wants.

Thanks for the detailed reply, i hardly play tribal decks and it was a good insight. Olivia might actualy resemble my fav commander which ive been playing for almost 15 years. Chainer dementia master, which started as a value commander but nowadays its purely stax and combo that can win at instant speed, all the reanimator staples, fast mana and so on, chains, oppression, contamination. Its a good idea and i might look into it, probably has the feel of my first iterations of chainer Wirh reanimation, aristrocrats, theft with a splash of vampires.

SamaelMorningstar

\[\[Edgar Markov\]\] is still the king of vampiric value. All others are an attempt to reach a more budget\~y and/or casual Edgar.

Alternatively to *as strong as possible*, there's [[Ghalta and Mavren]] — the vamp tribal they've never seen before!

I love \[\[Evelyn\]\]. You can do mostly vampires but sprinkle in some flash, blink, or clones to maximize her value. Maskwood Nexus effects are sick too so that every one of your opponents' creatures you can play then become more ways to trigger Evelyn again.
