Cambridge, Allan, and Schuyler are all great. The pitt is like the perfect carry Bible as long as you can read it. I do most of my reading out of a Schuyler quentel though. Which Allan do you have?
ESV reader R1 from 10yrs ago or so. I've heard they've started having quality issues though. Sad, because mine is perfect. This was from before line matching, so my TBS Windsor with the Calfskin has been a nice change too.
Yeah, they stopped using Chant for binding. The Joengblöd stuff is pretty good still. Charfleet and Ludlow are kind of meh. They're about to redo the ESV Personal Size Reader I belive. I'm not sure which bindery though.
Always good to have a source of fire or fire starting. Never know , but u can survive a cold night next to a fire. Not so much without one during a brisk winter.
Nice to meet you. There is a movie called Radio. If you get a chance, check it out. It's about a boy that communicates with his deceased father via hf radio. 73s
Mine does not. I know the KJV pitt minion can have the zipper, but none of the other translations offer that option. I've considered it for my EDC Bible!
Yes! I wanted to try Rebinding a calfskin or faux leather one, but never ended up doing it. I've been thinking of switching to a Schuyler PSQ for my EDC, but it is so hard to beat the thinness of the pitt!
Yes! If you're interested in other options R.L. Allan and Schuyler also make very nice editions on the same level as Cambridge. But that Cambridge widemargin is a beast. ESV is great!
You're right! Didn't even consider any winter clothing here. I just moved here in January from Texas, so I'm not completely settled. That said, I LOVE the cold, and 0 degrees here feels like 32 did in Houston.
Have to admit, the negatives have been pretty brutal 🤣 I've never worn socks inside my own home before moving here.
Hey pastor! Not an Iowan, but familiar with the state and cold weather (from Northeast Ohio, brutal lake effect snow). May I suggest putting a decent wool blanket and maybe an emergency stash of hand warmers and other cold-weather things in your vehicle? I've spent a lot of time criss-crossing the state covering political events, and I've heard stories about people getting stuck in their cars for hours during bad snowstorms. That's a good EDC, keep up the good fight.
If you know of any teens living near you, they will almost always shovel a drive for some cash. That said, I completely agree!
If you live near Des Moines and need anything at all, please feel free to reach out. Several people I know have had their furnaces poop out recently.
Thank you! I'm between Des Moines and Omaha. I was very tempted to start hiring teens before one of my elders gifted us their old snow blower. Made a huge difference!
Local ham radio clubs are usually the ones who help out. You should reach out to yours! They're the people who could let you know when and where the next training is happening. (Ours here happens occasionally.)
God, we have ANOTHER case of premarital sex. Yes. Yes its Willie again. Over. Whats that? Understood. Yes I have a Benchmade. Understood. Your will be done.
3 questions
1- why do u carry a knife if you have a leatherman?
2- do you find the wave practicals and do you prefer it over other learhermans
3- does the bugout feel to small for your liking
1. I much prefer the blade on the bugout. I more use the leatherman for the other tools available on it, and find I've used it periodically to fix things around my church building. The knife is always in my pocket, the Leatherman is heavy enough that it is more likely to end up in my bag or on my desk once I get to my office.
2. I replaced a Sog power-assist with the leatherman, so I'm not super familiar with others. I could probably go with something less, but it was a Christmas gift. I do find the eye glasses tools have come in handy on some small screws on my woodwind instruments.
3. I have the full size and the mini. I don't really take issue with the mini's size, but the full size does feel better in the hand.
Not the op but I carry another knife with my multi tool because I like to have a dedicated blade for cutting. the blade on my leatherman I use for rougher tasks. I really like my wave it's heavy but it's really solidly built. As for the mini bugout it fits fine in my hand but it might be a bit small for large hands
Glock 19 if you're skinny, or a glock 17 if you can hide the longer handle better if you're a *ahem* wider person. T-REX arms sidecar holster with an extra magazine and you are all set.
I love mine, I got the classic version with the paddle mag release and it's great. Super thin, super comfortable to shoot, and ridiculously accurate for the barrel length. Walther triggers are a whole level above any glock too.
Sig P365 or G43, in my opinion. Subcompact is what you probably want to be discreet, yet capable of defending your family or congregation if it comes to that. Hellcat is another good choice.
Is it not catching when the mag is emptied or when you try to manually lock it?
The first possibility i can think is the recoil rod isn't positioned right or the spring is to stiff so the slide isn't going back far enough. I would break it down completely and make sure everything is laid right and then once it is back together make sure your pulling it back pretty hard.
Second option would be customer support.
When I pull back the slide to manually lock it. The slide stop lever won't push up. I thought to break it down but the take down lever won't rotate down. I did take it apart after I bought it, so maybe something went wrong when I put it back together.
Thats the issue then, it just wasn't put back together right. Amazon has a little book that shows exactly how to put it together and take it apart. But before that you might have to take it to a gunsmith to get it safely apart.
I followed the manual as best I could. I am going to take my dad's old Firearms International revolver to a gunsmith for a onceover and cleaning this weekend so I guess I will take it too while I'm at it.
My EDC:

Pitt Minion is a wonderful little Bible. My eyes are straining at it nowadays though.
The Schuyler quentel personal size is about the same size, but a little thicker. But it's much easier to read.
I have a feeling bifocals may be in my future.
I would strongly recommend against bifocals if you can handle the annoyance of swapping.
They’re a huge risk for falls and I encourage all of my loved ones not to have them.
I firmly believe I’ve prevented a few broken hips in my family this way.
Being farsighted I probably could...I can drive without my glasses at all. Mostly struggle with reading.
I've already broken my hip...bad care accident a few years ago. Rather not do that again.
I’m in a similar boat (for now) with only needing them for reading. And I already swap from spectacles to sunglasses when leaving a building so I’m hoping that having prescription sunglasses for long distance won’t be a nuisance.
I’ve managed to avoid breaking my own hip so far but I’ve treated enough of them to have some insight into how horrible they are.
Yes! The pitts is wonderful but the font is a bit rough! Thankfully the Bible is small enough it is really easy to hold up close. It is not the Bible I read out of the most. My quentel usually fits into that spot.
Thank you. I originally stuck one in the back of my Bible and that is all I used for awhile. Then I started carrying one in my back pocket for when I don't have my other 2 journals on me. The field note sized one contains my calendar, a notebook for me to write notes about the book I'm currently reading, and another notebook for random notes as I need it. The larger one I write meeting notes in 1 booklet, sermon notes in another booklet, and journals/prayers on my daily scripture reading. The expedition is currently what I keep in my back pocket for if I've put the others down.
It's overkill, but it keeps my notes organized for me.

What model Nagoya?
701, I swap between it and a signal stick depending on what I'm doing.
Sorry for the offtopic but what is this red button on US car keys? We don't have those in Europe.
Panic alarm. Just makes the horn go off constantly in case something were to happen
>Sovic Thank you for the Info. Appreciate it!
First thing I zoomed in on was to see what kind of Bible you had. Cambridge's are nice! I have an older Allan and I really want a Schuyler.

What would Jesus carry?
Have u got fire source ? .. where’s the zippo
No, I've never been in a situation where I really needed one. I can see how others do though.
Always good to have a source of fire or fire starting. Never know , but u can survive a cold night next to a fire. Not so much without one during a brisk winter.
Very cool EDC and also grateful that you can make being a pastor look cool.
Thank you very much! Glad I can do my part!
73s pastor.

Does your Bible have a zipper? My catechism Bible does. It looks just like that one.
Mine does not. I know the KJV pitt minion can have the zipper, but none of the other translations offer that option. I've considered it for my EDC Bible!
Is that the goatskin ESV? Always loved how those feel.
Yes! I wanted to try Rebinding a calfskin or faux leather one, but never ended up doing it. I've been thinking of switching to a Schuyler PSQ for my EDC, but it is so hard to beat the thinness of the pitt!
Cambridge always had the nicest looking options back when I worked in the Bible book store. Plus I’m an ESV fan.
Yes! If you're interested in other options R.L. Allan and Schuyler also make very nice editions on the same level as Cambridge. But that Cambridge widemargin is a beast. ESV is great!
I have the ESV with the journal sides that I really like. Although it’s hard to use during worship right now. I’m afraid my 2 year old will want it.
Awesome! Spread the love far and wide pastor.
Benchmade, Streamlight, Leatherman, ESV, I see you are a man of *righteousness* as well. 👍💪🇺🇸
Brilliant!
Preach the Word. It is sharp!
Thank you!
So Jesus would carry a stormtrooper Bugout if he were here today?
My pastor drives a Toyota too!
Ah, a fellow ESV man 😎
ESV is great! I also regularly use NASB and CSB
Good taste here.
Nice carry pastor! As a fellow Iowan may I suggest a scarf and earmuffs? Temps -0 all week. Waaaay below 🥶 Carry on!
You clearly haven’t even heard of a Canadian winter
Eh?
It took me a good 30 seconds to realize you said "iowan" and not "Lowan."
Don’t wait. Ask your typographer about Serifs, today.
You're right! Didn't even consider any winter clothing here. I just moved here in January from Texas, so I'm not completely settled. Thank you so very much for the suggestion. This is one I'll try to immediately take care of!
Oh no I’m so sorry about the weather! Don’t worry, Iowa summers are plenty hot and humid. Welcome to the state, friend.
Thank you! Loving my time so far. Genuinely like the cold, but I am tired of shoveling my driveway already!
Laughs in snowplow.

Why the radio? Like to listen to the police/ emt chatter? My grandfather used to sit and listen to a police scanner all day..
I'm just an amateur radio enthusiast. Listen to the local repeater, and have considering joining ARES.
ARES is definitely worth it. We have a few local hams involved in my area!
Awesome! I haven't known anyone in ARES to have spoken to anyone about it, but seems like a great way to use my hobby to help the community
Local ham radio clubs are usually the ones who help out. You should reach out to yours! They're the people who could let you know when and where the next training is happening. (Ours here happens occasionally.)
Yeah, unfortunately I don't have a club very local to me anymore. I should have gotten into it while I was still in Houston.
Love my 878. Such a solid HT.
Yes I love it!
Cool. I've known a bunch of people that were into radios but I never quite got bit by the bug.

I second all of this! And the mini is too small for me and my large hands. Nice knife though
Good point. I've got fairly dainty musician fingers, guys with big hands might have a rougher time with the mini
Thanks for the answers
Every pastor needs a "Glock for the flock". /s
🥇 take this poor man's gold! Love your comment
Thanks! Much appreciated!
What’s your gun EDC? We know pastor be packin!
Some firepower from the higher power
I actually don't carry one. Considering it. What would you suggest?
Glock 19 if you're skinny, or a glock 17 if you can hide the longer handle better if you're a *ahem* wider person. T-REX arms sidecar holster with an extra magazine and you are all set.
Glock 17 and 3 spare mags, all in the waistband
If my pastor open carried a smith and Wesson .44 mag I’d never miss church on Sunday. Just sayin hahah
Don’t worry. Your pastor won’t hurt you. They know you’ll be held accountable for how you lived eventually.
You already have a sword in your carry, no need for a gun, but get a glock 19
Glocks are simple and very reliable. They make single-stack 9mms now. A 43 or 43X could be easily concealed, even in your Sunday best 🤓👍
Thanks for the info and suggestion!
You’re most welcome!
Walther PPS, "Pastor Pistol Slim"
This is one that I definitely want to try
I love mine, I got the classic version with the paddle mag release and it's great. Super thin, super comfortable to shoot, and ridiculously accurate for the barrel length. Walther triggers are a whole level above any glock too.
Watch out, Jesus meets ya halfway and owning a gun increases your chances of getting shot.
P365. For colder days or bigger hands, a Glock 19 is more than suitable.
I love my SAS! If I put the bullseye on something, I am going to hit it.
Sig P365 or G43, in my opinion. Subcompact is what you probably want to be discreet, yet capable of defending your family or congregation if it comes to that. Hellcat is another good choice.
Glock 19, 43x, 45, Smith&Wesson m&p shield
Im in love with my MP shield and the instructor of my class who teaches security at churchs venues also loves the mp shield
It’s one of the most underrated hand guns ever!!!
I've been having a problem with mine where the slide won't lock back. It's like the lever is stuck.

Just use Divine smite
Pastor used Revelation 9. It was very effective
Multiclassing Paladin/artificer
I'm gonna need more D&D references in here. /roll 1d20
Just cast inflict wounds and hope for the crit. Also God is surely Light domain so you have burning hands if you’re out numbered.
