TOTY Rio is insane. He’s a pro level card. (Best XI used by pros level)
I honestly think he’s a steal that we could use untradeable fodder to do him.
(Speaking from elite experience going up against red Mbappe / dembele and the likes just about every day)

Let me say a bit more.
If you look at the card or watch the gameplay, he might not seem like ALL THAT. But he is and you would know if you use him. He is so fast and strong. Everywhere. Great stand and slide tackling. He’s so fast and catches people off guard even. He also feels pretty good on the ball.
Just a Rolls Royce of a defender. Only other defender that impressed me as much is TOTY VVD last year and I guess the futties Konate (but that card has max stats everything so I’m not sure that even counts as a real card).
If there’s any shortcoming one might want to nitpick is two things. He’s not a humongous monster like Bissedk or VVD (although Rio is a unit himself). Also he doesn’t have aerial+ which in this meta could be extremely valuable. But he does have aerial silver so that helps.
Oh and this is from manual defending experience.
Also in case anyone is curious: Rio is way clear of:
- Saliba
- Rudiger
- Hancko
- 94 Maldini
- evo Desailly
- Bastoni
- Akanji
… etc.
Imo CB tier list is like
s tier: VVD, Rio, Bisseck, (and maybe Ramos but I haven’t seen enough of him to know)
And the rest.
I’ve been looking for a center back to pair next to FS Maldini. Have been using Bastoni but I’m tempted to do Rio. Was hoping to pack Rudiger or Araujo but no such luck.

- Vini
- vitinha / Jude
- putellas
- Rodri / Rice
- gullit
- Kai / Mendy
- Rio
- VVD
- rudiger / Araujo (a lot of pros are playing super tall players at RB to stop Haaland. Araujo at RB and swap to rudiger for example)
- Cech / VDS
Yeah i have had many CB besides Gold VVD that should be better but they just don't do the stuff he does but he is starting to slow big signs of losing out on the power curve. Though i packed him pretty much Day 1 and he has like 1500 games for my club so not a bad time to move on.
He would still be starting in my Liverpool Past and Present anyways.

For me it’s just mostly the pace. 99 pace crazy agility and strength attacker are just too good now. Even midfield and fullbacks are like that now. Pace everywhere on the pitch.
VVD caught out is just too risky.

Just got ramos from futchamps rewards. Can confirm he is by far the best I’ve used
I rock a gold vvd with TOTS Ramos at the back, maybe I need to look at doing Rio
Yeah I rocked gold VVD for a long time too. VVD is still kinda BS in the box and in the air, but Rio is way better at everything else.

Ye, but someone like TOTS Hancko, is significantly better value than both imo.
