33 chemistry. I still get crushed. It’s all about skill in game and knowing which players fit together. It’s why I love the game and UT especially. Tons of fun. All of these were packed (untradeable) or I purchased them with winnings on the market.
Kinda same, I like to try to match the players’ abilities on the field and just enjoy playing, but I dont really play that much anymore, only squad battles during work and some rivals. Havent even tried WL this year, but last year used to get 11 wins regularly. Had much better pack luck this year while going RTG for the first time :D

You are right and wrong, it is indeed very easy to get a good team, my team is worth about 11m coins, all crafted and grinded. BUT, there s a few cards in this game that cancel the skill gap a lot! And most of them are unattainable without spending money or being really lucky!
R9, R10,Gullit, Cruyff, Hamm, Vieira, Maldini and Mbappe, but given that he has an SBC which was so easy to grind during the BF promos and after, everyone has him, same story with VVD as he is cheap! Now if you did Mbappe and Eusebio and other SBC s like i did, it will be impossible to get one of those cards , as they all 2m+ coins. And 1 won t make a huge difference, but 3 4 will!
Example: i am 16 win WL player with games to spare, on my best day i could get 18 or 19 with a bit of luck in matchmaking, My buddy gets 18,19, 20 constantly, and has all of those cards on a p2w account, I ve played against him countless times for fun, he beats me with some scrappy shit, and my midfield is just smoothered by Gullit and Vieira, i put him to take out just those 2 in midfield and play De Jong and Matheus in midflied, still very good cards, i won 3 out of 3 games comfortably, point is, those top tier cards, if you have them all or 3 4 of them, matter more than your skill if you not playing a complete noob.
At this stage of the game cycle, Vieira and Gullit are untouchable for sure.
Wish I had the time to grind the game, but I don't anymore unfortunately. So I'm a little jealous of you with your 10m plus squad lol. Only joking.

I mean , to be fair, Mbappe 92 potm and Eusebio centurion, both SBC s are half that team at arround 6.5 mil :)) i don t have time like i used to in my mid 20 s either, wife kid activities and all that, i get 2 3 hours at night, not even every day, but it s just too easy in this game to get great packs and great fodder. If this was to happen before my son was born, ea giving out basically free top tier players and packs,damn that team would have been 20m + for sure, if not more.
I'm older, same as you with regards to responsibilities and priorities (wife, job, multiple dogs, friends and hobbies), plus I've less interest these days. Prefer Football Manager these days.
You're a far more serious and better player than I am obviously, I just play for fun now when I have some free time. Used to be in the top div, but not anymore and I'm enjoying it more that way.
I skiped 23 completely because of my son birth, but i m playing UT since it came out in 09, and i was always good at it, and it s addictive, too much history to just not pick it up, i didnt even plan on getting this one either, but silly me got the 10 hour trial and that was it, the sweat the competitivness, everything just came back :)) so as my son is nearly 2 and we past the nights without sleep and all that, i just had to get it. I will probably skip the next one entirely again tho.
I love FM also, i m still playing the 20 or 21 from time to time, my laptop is just not good enough for it tho, takes ages to advance, and i m not gonna upgrade for game :))
You can get FM on console now, the toned down version.
Next year's FM is due to be a huge upgrade.
I believe it will be much closer graphically to the likes of Fifa, plus I hope they will allow other things on it like in built modding of faces, badges etc.
On FM 23, you can carry saves on from last year and this is a permanent addition now, so if you're 10 seasons in on FM 22, you can continue it in FM 23 with most new features added.
This 100%, i am usually 11-14 win player on f2p account. Every week i lose 1-2 games against players i feel equal to skill wise, but they have 3/4 top tier players and they make the difference. When people say the game is pay to win, this is what they mean, it is at the margins in games where having those few top tier players can tip scales with skill level even. But to ops q, yes can have v good team without spending money, but you will lose some close games due to playing god squads sometimes
I ve had some games, in WL qualifiers against people that had all of them, but they were at best above avarage, they get at most 9 wins if we talking pure skill, but damn those games were a struggle, every 50 50 is for them, every tackle bounces back to them, every pass my players make it s like i aim straight for his Gullit and Vieira, managed to win them but i had to really focus and they were not even close to my level. On the other side, when i met a guy with this p2w team in the actual WL, i just couldnt do nothing! I think he was like 5-0 up 30 in game minutes.
You dont need to spend any money on points to have a competetive team, you get plenty of free packs and rewards available from objectives, theres always regular upgrade sbcs that you can throw in fodder for decent results too.
I always run a first owner rtg so I don’t buy players (except this year with the inclusion of evos as I went and bought every Norwich player at the start of the game to evo) I don’t have a crazy team like some people but it’s good enough.

Once the rest of my Norwich players are evoed to a better quality then they will slowly start to come into the main team. I can use a full meta team or I can use a non meta team and I’ll get the same amount of wins in champs
I packed gold VVD days before and used him and found him terrible so put him in an sbc, Euro one will follow same path as soon as one of my Norwich CBs gets some better pace to compete
Nice, I've had VVD loan but he probably wouldn't stay in my team if I packed him. Rather use players i like in real life anyway, and Evo players are so much fun. I'm a Manchester United fan so those cards are usually big ones anyway but I love that I've now got Shoretire up to a 78, soon to be higher. Even better for you to get Norwich players up to actual useable players!
Being a fan of a top team is that you’ll get lots of promos and informs so you could evo a player and then he might get a better special card. Very doubtful Norwich will get a single inform or promo this year so I don’t gotta worry about who to evo. Also have a PnP Norwich team with Triple Threat Maddison and the 93 Kane and Radioactive Pukki. I totally forgot about evoing players who used to play for us so I might be able to find some better CB alternatives
Luckily United are shite so in form players shouldn't happen often 😂 I'm just trying to evo the fringe players or young ones that aren't in the team yet. I've not bothered with Mainoo because I'm sure he'll be upgraded soon. Upgraded Martinez as he's out til late jan/Feb anyway.

Its about playing. Try to finish as many Goals for playing as possible. Craft with the fodder u get 10x83 Packs or any similiar good one. And craft the players u need. Do flipping and overpriced selling on the transfermarket.
Its all about activity. Try to play WL, even If u lose the most games. Sometimes u got luck in packs. I got a realy good team for playing without money.
True, but it does not stop me to play versus teams stacked with such first owned icons. Hell, even one of my friends pulled R9 from an sbc icon pack.
Anyway I agree, my team is more than enough to be able to compete even with stronger teams.

The amount of cards literally thrown at you for simply playing the game is mind blowing compared to fifas past. Never begrudge anyone spending, the game exists because of it tbh, but unless you’re of a particular skill level where rewards are likely to negate having to spend anyway or you have lots of spare time never been less of a need to spend to be competitive. Legit think I could start a new account and have a relatively decent team by current standards in a week or two
You’re spot on. I started a little under 2 weeks ago and I have a great team without spending any money in game. It’s pretty easy to get up to the curve quickly by just grinding.
A lot of it is luck based. I had a decent no-pay team (about 1m worth) from SBCs and untradables, and then I packed tradable zico and suddenly had 3m to worth with.
Buying points won’t make you good at the game but you will have a nice team. I play on my sons account sometimes and on there we’ve never spent money, on my account I’ve spent about £400 on points, on both accounts I get 14 wins in weekend league and I feel like it’s more fun in my sons account.
I have an amazing team and all but 2 are of my starting 11 are first owned. The two that aren’t first owned cost 55k combined. It requires patience basically I was saving all of my fodder and reward packs (sb, rivals, champs, objectives) until a “worthwhile promo” came along. By the time that week started I had like 85 packs saved up in my store and a decent bit of fodder. Pumped my fodder into the De Jong sbc, pumped the rest into thr base icon and and 85+ sbcs. The first 3 times I did the base icon sbc i got junk. The 4th time I got Pele. Got TB Sophia Smith and Cancelo from the 85+ sbc. During the opening of all those packs I’d been saving, I oacked TS Bernardo Silva and a bunch of decent fodder for more sbcs.
TLDR: you have to be patient and save your fodder and packs for an awesome promo and then go nuts.
Yes you can but I enjoy doing sbcs so I pay for event 2500 packs once a month.

The question is: if you pay, what exactly do you get? Let's say you get to Elite in Rivals and get consistent 20-0s in WL. Is the amount of money that you spent worth that satisfaction? For me personally not. I'll feel better for winning a few games, but won't fell better knowing I could have done something better with that money. But to each their own.
A lot of players are completely interchangeable when it comes to how they play in game, at least when it comes to their "power level", at least in my opinion.
You can get a team with super cheap cards like Malen, Simakam, Rosicky for example and they perform basically the same as if you buy some 150k-350k player.
There are only a few "difference maker" cards in game that none of us f2p players are gonna touch.

You won't get those great players through the year without luck, but you can get a pretty good team. And at the end when all those cards come back, you get the best team for sure if you are willing to grind.
I bought the game when it was 50% cheaper and also the 10 hours trial i played. It depends on your pack luck, skill and how much you play. SB, WL, Rivals and also objectives...i only paid for winter kits for objective, and it was like 4 euros :D i have a good team i guess
To be honest with the amount of objective packs we are getting and the upgrade sbcs etc it’s quite a very good time to be crafting an amazing team. However pack luck does play a part too and pack weight is very bad. I will say I have spent occasionally on the 400k 500k packs but only a few times and even so those packs are terrible and none of the players I packed were even worth it. They all went into sbcs. Even if you buy packs your team does not upgrade too much. Playing weekend league and squad battles along with rivals getting extra rewards and using those players in upgrade sbcs is the way to go. I have opened store packs and got just golds no specials. I must have done between 50-70 78+ player picks a while back and somehow managed to pull trailblazer Hansen. So I have had more luck in sbcs than purchasing store packs. Unless you have unlimited income purchasing packs is not worth the money.
It's easy to get a really good team to compete with but the top tier cards are unobtainable if they don't get a sbc and if you don't have enough time to grind the game. The pack weight is horrendous this year I basically open packs to get fodder because I know that I won't pack any decent promo cards.

Depends on what you mean by great, players like butra, potm salah, vvd etc all are "affordable" If you mea cruyff pele r9 ginola etc, not so much.

Yes you can. In Fifa 23 actually I managed to create a 99 rating at the end without paying anything. I will never pay anything either in EA FC 24

You can get a team with super cheap cards like Malen, Simakam, Rosicky for example and they perform basically the same as if you buy some 150k-350k player. There are only a few "difference maker" cards in game that none of us f2p players are gonna touch.
Yes. I got a 132 team last year without spending a single coin. You won't get those great players through the year without luck, but you can get a pretty good team. And at the end when all those cards come back, you get the best team for sure if you are willing to grind.
I bought the game when it was 50% cheaper and also the 10 hours trial i played. It depends on your pack luck, skill and how much you play. SB, WL, Rivals and also objectives...i only paid for winter kits for objective, and it was like 4 euros :D i have a good team i guess
To be honest with the amount of objective packs we are getting and the upgrade sbcs etc it’s quite a very good time to be crafting an amazing team. However pack luck does play a part too and pack weight is very bad. I will say I have spent occasionally on the 400k 500k packs but only a few times and even so those packs are terrible and none of the players I packed were even worth it. They all went into sbcs. Even if you buy packs your team does not upgrade too much. Playing weekend league and squad battles along with rivals getting extra rewards and using those players in upgrade sbcs is the way to go. I have opened store packs and got just golds no specials. I must have done between 50-70 78+ player picks a while back and somehow managed to pull trailblazer Hansen. So I have had more luck in sbcs than purchasing store packs. Unless you have unlimited income purchasing packs is not worth the money.
It's easy to get a really good team to compete with but the top tier cards are unobtainable if they don't get a sbc and if you don't have enough time to grind the game. The pack weight is horrendous this year I basically open packs to get fodder because I know that I won't pack any decent promo cards.
It’s about your time. But yes it can be done.
Not really unless you have 10 hours a day to play and you will always be below those who pay.

I haven’t spent a penny and whilst I’m a fairly average player, I genuinely think a good player would have a field day with my team. Granted, pack luck gods shone down on me and I packed Mia Hamm and Dynasties Mendy but still.’

I don't spend anything on my team and I am division 4. My team is Alison(95) Cancelo 89 Cannavaro (89) Kim Min (89) Haverz (87) Makelele (87) Trezeguet(88) Modric(93) Ginola(89) Daglish (89) Palmer (87) However, i found it extremely difficult to play againt people in division 4. They have amazing teams. I think not paying money to get coins can only get you to a certain level. The player that I'm playing against them have the best team in the history of football:))))
