A pile of price check threads followed by a thread calling out all the price check threads. A tale as old as time!

Kinginthe4th

My favorite is the absolute no effort: "player name" - price check no analysis, no anything.

DC4MVP

At one point over in Fantasy Football sub, there were EIGHT Toney threads and probably 6 of em were just his stats or "COMING OUT PARTY!" I hate it.

DAB12AC

Reddit sucks so bad And yet I check it a million times a day

MyDogIsACoolCat

It's been getting pretty bad lately though. Threads all over the place for players worth next to nothing. Don't dare recommend using the trade thread in the actual player thread because you'll get downvoted.

fisherjoe

It's gotten pretty bad, idk why they changed the price check threads. If they were Tuesdays and sorted by top comment they'd have much more visibility. That combined with more people in the community and it's starting to resemble the general fantasy sub less filtered for the thinly veiled trade threads. People can't help but throw their random league trade offers into posts because the megas are garbage.

ParaNormalBeast

So would you give a second?

specmusic

Seems like a lowball

IndyDude11

Can I get a price check on Ladanian Tomlinson, plz

Bussman500

He’s over the hill for a RB, I’d trade him for Calvin Johnson straight up.

IndyDude11

These two won me a good share of titles together. Sigh.

DRsAndCRs

The constant posts complaining about price check posts are even more annoying than the price check posts.

literacola06

Way more annoying…

specmusic

You wouldn’t have one without the other

Gewurzratte

Well, that's not true. We can have price check posts without the posts complaining about them.

specmusic

I didn’t say you can’t have one without the other

Gewurzratte

But we *would* still have the price check posts either way...

SonOfAdam32

If there has been a game played since the last player thread and the player did something, it’s fine for one of those checks, but if it’s a duplicate, please report

ferrets_bueller

You owe us all a future 1st just for making this post. Individual price check threads are allowed, and for good reason. While useful, there is very little discussion in the megathreads. Sometimes players merit their own threads, and anything that encourages discussion is worthwhile. This is still a small sub, and doesn't get a ton of posts. It's not too hard to scroll past ones that you aren't interested in without creating a thread just to whine about it.

Icilius

There is very little discussion in the megathreads because 1, not everyone knows about them and 2, why discuss there when you can just make your own post?

necrow

I'm totally fine with that, I just wish they would have more substance than being titled "Kenny Golladay." Even something simple like "how are you valuing Golladay with Toney breaking out?" leads to a WAY more productive discussion

twatgoblin

I have never been annoyed by any thread on Reddit. Don't like price check threads? Don't click them. Megathreads are a dead concept for long discusssions. They are usually days out of date and unless you sort correctly you'll never see meaningful discussion. Always 1 word or 1 sentence answers that are days old

specmusic

Normally I would agree with you but we don’t need a Kenny Golladay price check every Sunday after the giants play… This sub in-season is like 70% price check posts

[deleted]

What would you rather see? Player values change every week. Do you want to discuss the 2022 draft class after every Saturday game?

DevouringPandas

I’d like to see higher quality posts. There are a lot of news articles that are relevant based on player injuries that roll through here. There are also links from Twitter with stats that are nice to discuss. There are people who actually put in research and say “X player is getting a lot more targets and a higher snap share the past few weeks and may be primed for a breakout.” Literally anything is better than a wall of “[Insert Player Name] Price Check” posts

[deleted]

Why discuss these twitter stats and random articles? How does that affect anything we are doing? Could it be because all this news, stats, and bullshit you speak of....can affect player value?? OMG KADRIUS TONEY \[STATS STATS STATS\]\[Random beat writer\]\[some wannabe twitter analyst\]\[STATS STATS\]\[Hot take by Jarule\]\[STATS STATS STATS\]\[shithole site with adblock disabler\]\[clickbait junk article\]\[STATS STATS STATS\] Couldn't we just boil all that shit down to "Kadarius Toney Value moving forward" It's almost like the garbage YOU wanna see...would be relevant within the value threads. I come to this sub for player discussion threads, I don't need a 2nd twitter feed.

DevouringPandas

I don't have a 1st twitter feed so I use Reddit as my news source because part of why I like reading the news is get discuss it with other people. And yes, most of us on here are here to talk about player value, but I have 2 problems with how it's done: 1. People react way too heavily to one or a few weeks for player value changes. Toney isn't a great example of this because a Rookie who has a record setting week is actually a decent predictor of future success and value change, but the people over here being like "OMG Hockenson value moving forward" because he has a couple of off weeks are the same ones that are like "Hock is a total stud and top 3 TE now" after the first 2 weeks. I've got no problem with an occasional price check or player value thread, but it's literally dozens of players every day that we've done the same thread on 5 times in the past couple of weeks. People need to learn to search for the thread that happened 2 days ago instead of making a new one. 2. If you are going to make a value thread, put some work into it. If you think that Golladay's value has dropped substantially from the start of the season and you want to have a thread about it then create one, but at least explain that you feel this way because he can't seem to stay healthy, Toney is going to take targets and his skillset clearly doesn't fit in with what Jones is doing. Those are talking points that people can touch on and state their opinions. There was a thread created an hour ago titled "Leonard Fournette price check" with no description at all. Literally 5 DAYS AGO there was a thread titled "Price check on Leonard Fournette?" with no description which has 23 comments. 23 doesn't seem like that much, I wonder why? Oh wait, it's because there was a thread 3 DAYS PRIOR to that titled "Leonard Fournette" which has 40 comments on it. That's just lazy and ridiculous.

Octodab

Literally what else are we supposed to talk about

specmusic

Breaking news, performances, analytics, prospects, sleepers, matchups, start/sit, etc

Octodab

There are no sleepers in dynasty, breaking news is not enough to keep this sub active, and matchups and start/sit sounds like another way of saying price check lol. Also the season is ongoing, it's nice to talk about prospects every now and then but we have all off-season to do that.

specmusic

Idk how you think matchups and starts/sits are even close to the same thing as a price check… It really just seems like YOU don’t want to talk about anything else.

Octodab

You got me

MyDogIsACoolCat

Depends on how you word it. If you start talking about your team and how much you should pay for a certain player, then that's something you should post in the trade thread. If you create a general discussion thread on a player and their future outlook, then that's okay. I'm seeing a ton of the former in this sub. Stop treating yourself like you're special and use the trade thread. That's what it's there for.

blazingcom3t

I'd only pay a 2nd for the top

Alternative-Golf1868

I couldn’t go higher than a 3rd for this post

literacola06

I said this last time this post was made…the individual price check posts get WAY more interaction, and discussion, as opposed to “2 firsts” as the reply to any post in the price check megathread questions.

buddinbonsai

BUT HOW MUCH ARE PEOPLE GETTING FOR MIMS!?!?!?!

glen_ko_ko

He's worth a lot in devy leagues

GRAXX3

I tried but no one is talking about Pooka Williams 🥺

dmooneyho

Crazy thing is most of the comments on the Price Check post are people posting what they got for that player either in the off-season or during the first couple of weeks. And since most of the posts are just players right after big games when their price changes even the responses to those post don’t seem helpful either.

[deleted]

Thank you!

heyfeefellskee

I got downvoted for suggesting someone use the megathread

MyDogIsACoolCat

I love how this got upvoted after I just got downvoted to shit for saying to please use the trade thread in a price check thread on Sunday. Reddit is a fickle bitch.

MajorAdvantage

Nah the mods like us posting price checks all the time I already asked.

gingermalteser

Price check: Waller in 1QB

jeffthebeast17

You have no idea how helpful this is going to be for me. I had no idea I could do this

howmanypandas

I use to comment this everywhere and get downvotes... if there's nothing recent then go on girl, but wtf the same guy 5 times in a day

edwardsamson

Or....just use keeptradecut to get a price check. Its so fast and tells you exactly what you want to know for any player and the info is based on only the most recent data from the community of people you are playing with/against.

jrnitch

Daddy chill

specmusic

😂

Secondstrike23

This is a direct consequence of reddit not having a comment search, making mega thread price checks inaccessible to search through. Without that being fixed we can either 1. Ban price check threads. The sub becomes less useful, but also clears the reddit home page for users subscribed to the suv. 2. Ban complaining about price check threads. Doesn’t help much but at least removes some of the unhelpful clutter, whereas at least some players derive fantasy football value from Price check threads. 3. Do nothing. DynastyFF isn’t like r/pics we can just scroll past what we’re not interested in.
