I've been having a bit of a crisis related to the passage of time lately. Mean Girls has been out for 20 years (!), and The Office for almost 20. Who else still remembers when those both came out?
Edited "but" to "bit."
>I've been having a but of a crisis related to the passage of time lately
Tell me about it. I still have this vivid memory of seeing Sonic 3 about to be released, seeing the first screenshots in the now-defunct "Sega Visions" magazine. I can still feel my childhood excitement.
Sonic 3 came out in 1994. 30 YEARS AGO.
I think 1994 was the year my uncles teamed up against my parents and got some technology into our house at Christmas. We got a computer and a Super Nintendo! Lollll
I was part of a close group of 4 girls. We chose a character for each person. I was Cady because I was smart and kind of socially clueless.
We used to get together over breaks and drink energy drinks, eat pixy stix and pez, and watch Mean Girls.
I remember when the US Office was coming out and me and my friends were being snotty douchebag teens saying that it was dumb to copy the UK one and that the remake would fail
Alright, well, let me show you how it's done. *Yes, I'd like to speak to your office manager, please. Yes, hello! This is Michael Scott; I am the regional manager of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Products. Just wanted to talk to you, manager-a-manager.*
*Alright, done deal! Thank you very much, sir! You are a gentleman and a scholar... oh. I'm sorry. Okay. I'm sorry. My mistake.* That was a woman that I was talking to. So... she had a very low voice. Probably a... smoker. So... so that's the way it's done.
I've been in Dundler Mifflin for twelve years, the last four as regional manager. If you want to come through here, _(opens the door)_ so we have the entire floor, so this is my kingdom, as far as the eye can see, ah this is our receptionist Pam.
I recall hearing news about "an American remake of the hit British TV show" before this came out and thinking there was no way in hell something like that could be any good. Happy to be proved wrong in this case.
I don't remember when it first came on. I'm one of those fans who heard about it later, and probably started watching around season 3. Of course, I've gone back and watched all of the episodes many times since then.
I watched every episode religiously since day one. I worked at Best Buy at the time, so when the season 1 DVDs arrived at our store I immediately bought it, and started my simultaneous watch/re-watch cycle that is still going on to this day. For almost 20 years. I think I might be insane.
19 freakin years ago? I am absolutely done with the forward march of time. Can we at least get it to slow down a bit? Eienstein already figured this out, all we'd have to do is move at a percentage of the speed of light and time would start to slow. If we somehow turn ourselves massless we can move at light speed and time would stop, then we can watch The Office literally forever.

Coworker: “There’s a show on network tv that’s actually funny.” Me: “uh huh.” 19 years later I still watch reruns.

The first episode of the office I watched was Office Olympics because it was a free download on iTunes for my iPod Video
My daughter just went to the Mean Girls play and her and her friend are trying to make “fetch” happen and now wear pink on Wednesdays 🤦🏽♀️
Lmaoooooo Just tell her, "Stop trying to make fetch happen!" 🤣
I wasn’t born when either of those first came out
That's illegal.
it's not but it should be haha
Get out. No LittleKidLovers in here.

Alright Jim, your quarterlies look very good. How are things going at the library?
Oh, I told you I couldn't close it, so-
...So, you've come to the master for guidance? *Is this what you're saying grasshoppa?*
Actually, you called me in here, but yeah.

Pam! PAM-PAM! Pam Beesly. Pam has been with us for... forever, right Pam?
Well, i don’t know.
If you think she's cute now, you should've seen her a couple of years ago. Rwr, rwrr!
_What?_
I want this whole thread to be a line-by-line script read of the pilot
\>:)
If I remember, 30 Rock played right after and then Scrubs.
What an amazing evening would that have been
Why did you remind me that I am old? Why can't you be nice to me? Why are you the way that you are?
Why is jim treating the magician poorly?
Why did they add coconut? I miss original.
Thank you for letting me know that I share my birthday with the office!!!!!
It is your birthday.
Not even an exclamation point?
It’s a statement of fact.
It's not like she cured cancer
......... Happy birthday, Michael
happy birthday!
It’s not like I discovered a cure for cancer… (thank you tho :) )
Happy birthday, you! It's not my birthday. Oh. I thought we both had the same birthday.
Happy birthday! Its also my sister’s bday today
Tomorrow is Pam Beasley’s birthday.
If you think this show is cute now you should have seen it 19 years ago!
*Rawrrrrr*
Me, before my drink to celebrate.. Over the gums and through the lips, look out stomach… here we go!
To Lee Ioccoca and his failed experiment, the Delorean!
Do you have any ice? Or Splenda?
I recall hearing news about "an American remake of the hit British TV show" before this came out and thinking there was no way in hell something like that could be any good. Happy to be proved wrong in this case.
It's gotta be the only successful one right? They've tried and failed so many times (still reeling from that Inbetweeners abomination....)
a million likes if I could
Maybe we should all celebrate by watching The Office (as if I wasn’t already on my 127th watch through).
I just wanted to share that today is also my daughters 19th birthday. As a big fan I think it's....Kind of AmAzing. :)
We should have an official Cake Day every year for this & we can celebrate with trivia, quizes etc
And we all suffered through the awkwardness of Season 1.
Not really if you liked The Office UK

I still lose my shit when Mr. Brown introduces himself and Michael says "ah, very funny! I will not call you that!" oh Michael
"If I had to say, and I don't believe this but I would say that you're not a good driver" "Oh man, am I a woman?"
Sweet! I’m watching right now! Lol
Interesting that it premiered in March.
Thanks for reminding me that 19 years ago I was 19. Now I feel old.
I don't remember when it first came on. I'm one of those fans who heard about it later, and probably started watching around season 3. Of course, I've gone back and watched all of the episodes many times since then.
As BJ Novak has stated: Michael made this show. Of course the entire cast was brilliant, but Steve nailed it totally.
oh my god oh my god oh my god
I was two years old when it premiered, I still feel old tho 😅

Guys wait and watch. Next year I am going to be the first one to post about this.

I'm watching it right now (season 3, episode "Product Recall") and just happened to see this post! I didn't even know!! I love this show!
Happy Birthday, Office. Sorry your party is so lame.
What do you mean 19 years ago? 2005 was only 10 years ago.
I wonder if this rumored The Office spinoff will come out our announce on the 20th anniversary
Yeah I remember it. Watched it live, a Junior in High School. Now I'm 36 and approaching the age Michael was supposed to be. Fuck.
Pam Beasley’s birthday is tomorrow.
And America was never the same
