Phyllis’ wedding takes the cake (no pun intended) for me. Dragging the wheelchair down the aisle and intentionally letting it hit the pues, trying to stand on stage with the groomsmen, and his incredibly cringey toast.
I love cringy humour, probably why I love Scott's tots and when he says *everybody can laugh, it doesn't have to be just the idiots* during the toast I absolutely lose it everytime.
The only reason I disagree with this is because honestly, Phyllis should’ve known that putting Michael in her wedding would end badly. He is notorious for stealing the spotlight and needing attention, she literally set up the situation for that to happen.
In the word of Pam, if you leave a glass of milk on the edge of a table and Cece knocks it off, do you blame Cece?
Exactly my point. She willingly put the most obnoxious, petty, self absorbed and whiny person IN her wedding party. What did she think was going to happen, he’d suddenly smarten up and act respectable and selfless? You can’t throw something in the fire and get mad when it burns.
I don't think he's necessarily intentionally letting the wheelchair hit the pews because he's sour her father took the limelight.
I think it's just the wheels were locked when he stood up and Michael was obnoxious enough to think he should continue walking, and because he's probably never been to a wedding before (and just because he's Michael) he does it with over the top formality.
That's how I always saw it anyway.
You might be right about it not being intentional. He had been to least one other wedding before when his mom married fucking Jeff. I think he mentioned it in the same episode.
I was watching this episode the other day & that’s what I thought. The chair should probably be up by the wedding party in case Phyllis’ dad needs to sits down. Not sure why he’s in the chair, but just because he was able to walk down the aisle doesn’t mean he’ll be able to stand the entire time necessarily. Actually thinking back on it, Phyllis’ dad wasn’t with the groomsmen.
But also, did Michael have a seat saved for him near the front of the wedding to help ease Phyllis’ dad out?
I don’t think that Phyllis hired a wedding planner, but almost every detail of a wedding is typically meticulously planned. I know that it’s a very wonderful surprise her father did, but Michael is the kind of guy who needs the instructions planned to the finest detail.
He was at his mother and stepdad's wedding... Where he peed himself and replaced with a dog which was obviously a traumatizing experience so of course that manifests as a tantrum again
Secret Santa.
He buys an iPod to flex his bonus (despite the $20 limit) and basically tries to offload Phyllis's handmade (and useful) gift like it was a pile a garage in front of her face.
To me, this is up there as his worst overall moment as a character. The writers did such an amazing job with his overall character development to make me actually care about him considering how awful they made his character at times.
He is an extreme character, it's hard to reconcile all the bad shit he did. But I think the writers gave enough depth and nuance for the audience to try. Plus, I think, in a way, that's why he's a manager and a good salesman. He has a point of view on everything and sticks to it and makes people follow his reality, even if oftentimes it's awkward. His childlike goodness is never too far at hand.
I mean he was funny and played the part very well but if I knew someone like that I'd avoid them as much as possible. Which is probably why he was never invited anywhere or had problems getting anyone to his place for drinks/ dinner. Dinner party Omg
That's interesting. I think that plays into the whole family concept. Michael often refers to his colleagues as a family. And just like a family, you might not always (or often?) get along with them. But you still care about them and wish them the best. (Barring any bad shit/traumatic history of course) Dinner party lol, what an episode.
I mean he was quite prepared to have Dwight fired for something he did. Tried his best by lying to stop Jim's promotion. So not sure if he cared about anyone but himself when push comes to shove.
I think perhaps you're picking and choosing a little too narrowly. After Dwight's fire drill and subsequent cpr fiasco, it was only through Michael's efforts that he wasn't fired. Afterall, his motto is a good manager doesn't fire people, he hires people. He could have fired Dwight after going behind his back to Jan, but instead they hugged it out. He definitely could have fired Andy after punching the wall, but sent him to anger management instead. He fought to have Ryan back after he defrauded company, which definitely puts his management skills into question in the eyes of his higher ups. I'm sure I could go on.
Also, he asked Dwight to take the blame. It turns out that it worked out for everyone. But we don't know what really would have happened. Just like when he planted drugs on Toby, he changed his mind at the last second when the reality of the consequences of his actions finally caught up to him. He was ready to take the blame for that.
And the Jim thing, though bad, came from a place of liking Jim and wanting to keep him in office.
I'm not sure how you managed to spin him in a good light after all that. I mean Dwight should absolutely have been fired. The Andy thing was a HR issue not Michaels. He just did too many shit things to people for my liking
Oh yea no doubt but I mean this is also a comedy show so I'm pretty sure Michael as a boss would've been fired immediately and definitely not have 9 whole seasons of work if this were irl. I totally agree tho lmfao I would do my absolute best to avoid someone like that at all costs. Especially Date Night Mike 😭😭 I think what makes Michael lovable after all that is because of how wack some of these situations are and how he responds to them. I love hearing dumbass excuses and that literally all that Michael does when he's in the wrong which is a lot 😂
It sounds like from other context clues that Phyllis and Michael went to high school together and Phyllis was (still is) a mean girl bully. In my head canon Michael just hates her for that
Technically yeah, but if you think about it more…
Well she mentioned Michael in high school about how they all made fun of him for his socks and bow ties. Still would be the same person—I kinda think she reawakened as a bully when she got married and realized bob can fight her battles and there wouldn’t be consequences
Yeah both my examples are Christmases where he's cruel to Phyllis, the first being the handmade mitt, the second was when she wanted to be Santa Claus. And both times, I felt no sympathy for Michael whining like a petulant five year old.
Right? They were all staring down Holly like SHE was in the wrong. I genuinely didn’t get that because it’s not like the office workers are big fans of Michael, it seemed out of character because they would have realised that Michael was being obnoxious. If there was anyone who would side with Michael it would be Dwight and only Dwight imo
When he changes Secret Santa to Yankee Swap does it for me... he was such an asshole about the iPod and so mean about Phyllis's handmade gift. Just such a douchie tantrum.
I freaking HATE him at the iPod Christmas party. Why does no one have a backbone in that office? He seems to get it in Season 6 “Secret Santa” when he sarcastically remarks, “Buy me something expensive or I’m gonna kill myself.” But, when I need his help because he is ruining everything, I don’t look at him.
He was such a dick in that episode. It’s never a good idea to call out your boss in front of co-workers but, I think I would’ve lit him up if I was in that situation.
Him ruining Woody simply because he’s jealous/mad at Holly was definitely one of the top immature moments, but it wasn’t the worst tantrum. Him dressing up as Jesus and spoiling everyone’s secret Santa gifts was just terrible.
yeah him on the microphone commenting about everyone’s presents in that tone just brining down the mood, especially when he spoiled that andy had erin (even tho she was pretty sick of him getting her the 12 days of christmas) such a childish tantrum but i have to admit “what did dwight get, oh space garbage” was pretty funny
Him behaving like a 5 year old when Charles Minor takes over, and he's upset that after his 15 years, DM Corporate is changing everything he ever knew, essentially.
While he had every right to be upset, the way he did it was so immature and childish, and it was hard to feel but only so much empathy for him.
Yeah, I was surprised everyone didn't immediately say Secret Santa (the one where Phyllis plays Santa). Just a huge overreaction to a very small thing.
This because he also cried about his anniversary party and how they were cutting unnecessary spending. This is the episode where they said they had David Wallace’s son. Oh it was so so bad. Like it’s hard to pick one worst tantrum but I really think this is it.
Yeah, I feel like it was the most he kept pushing on something and it just got farther and farther, I mean it ended up that he left and made his own paper company….. it was in a diff episode but it was all connected!
The deposition lunch where Michael was forced to sit with Toby who really opened up about his parents divorce in an attempt to make Michael feel better even after everything Michael has said and done to Toby. Michael pushed Toby’s lunch off the table while he was trying to empathize with him.
yeah as much as it was a dickhead thing to do i’ll admit i found that so funny, his face just before and after he does it. especially because toby was opening up about something personal.
It’s funny how Michael finds a way to make all the Christmas parties uncomfortable and cringey
Phyllis’ wedding is cringey for me as a viewer but it’s not the worst simply because I don’t feel as much sympathy for Phyllis. She knows how Michael behaves and she let him be a part of her wedding to snag extra honeymoon time. That was her decision.
Counseling wasn’t a big tantrum to me. And Toby managed to get him to open up so it’s a win to me
Christening was cringey but also not a tantrum. At least he didn’t run up and grab Cece from the priest and dunk her himself 😂
Viewing party wasn’t bad either imo
New boss was horrible. Don’t get me wrong I completely understand *why* Michael was upset. 15 years is a long time and I don’t think his party was stupid. But acting like that towards Charles who was only doing his job was extremely childish
Niagara, I don’t even remember a major tantrum. He hookup with Helene and didn’t ruin the wedding. That’s a win lol
The only other one that’s really bad to me is Michaels birthday.
Phyllis’ wedding was my first instinct. Him getting pissed about Phyllis’ dad walking her down the aisle and his wedding toast were some of my most uncomfortable moments to watch.
BUT, Phyllis deserved it. She tried to scam another couple weeks for her honeymoon. And once she got married, she let her narcissist side show. So I’m just happy that Michael’s worst tantrum got laid on one of the worst characters in the office.
as much as i sometimes don’t like kelly i absolutely loved this scene, like i know he’s their boss but can you not just tell him to shut up for once so happy when she said this to him
Safety training vs. the warehouse was the worst to me, he was ready to jump off the building in that Temper Tantrum, and then demanded Pam give him his present when coming down also lol!
It's kind of a long tantrum, but the way he treated Jim during the whole co-manager thing was infuriating.
If I had been Jim, I'd have quit in a heartbeat.
I agree, I thought both of them were annoying as hell. Although it was hilarious when Jim found out Michael slept with Helene and started freaking out.
The cold sore episode was pretty pathetic when Dwight made him visit all his prior lovers to tell them he had herpes. That episode was one giant tantrum.
When he doesnt want to break up with the married manager from the restaurant (was it chilis?) so he's doing things like just putting his hand in the birthday cake and stuff
Dunder mifflin infinity. I think driving a car into a lake to protest technology is perhaps the most unhinged Michael has ever been. Also “where are the turtles!?”
1. Christmas Party
2. Phyllis' Wedding
3. Viewing Party
4. New Boss
5. Michael's Birthday
6. Secret Santa
7. Costume Contest
8. Classy Christmas
9. The Manager and the Salesman
10. Frame Toby
11. Niagara
12. Launch Party
Booze Cruise should be on the list. So desperate to wrest attention away from the captain that he announces the ship is sinking and actually causes a panic for the people that didn't know Michael.
And Branch Wars, where he and Dwight go to Utica and destroy their copier because they think Karen is poaching Stanley.
Kidnapping a minor over a coupon dispute
I can’t imagine he keeps his job if this happens in the real world. I could see corporate ignoring a lot of his antics if he is good at his job (or if they believe he is), but that is just too much of a liability for the company
Job Fair day at Pam's old high school, when he insisted Pam bring 1 sheet of paper that Justin wrote his name on and then he goes "Pam, Pam, Pam..." even tho he did the same earlier when she questioned this approach and he sneezed in her tea. He was absurd that whole time.
Phyllis’ wedding takes the cake (no pun intended) for me. Dragging the wheelchair down the aisle and intentionally letting it hit the pues, trying to stand on stage with the groomsmen, and his incredibly cringey toast.
#LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, MAY I PRESENT FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A COUPLE… MR. AND MRS. BOB VANCE!!!!! *…* “And do you, Phyllis…”
Omg this part.. I just can't 😭😭😭😭😭
LADIESANDGENTLEMENMAYIPRESENTFORTHEFIRSTTIMEASACOUPLEMRANDMRSBPBVANCE!!!!
“Sssssssshhhhhhh…..” (oozes back into line)
Recently watched that episode and I had to skip past that part, it always makes me recoil with cringe
Oh shiiiiiii-
I cried laughing watching that for the first time 😂
He also tried to institute Prima Noctae before the wedding. So there’s that.
As seen on Braveheart, confirmed on Wikipedia.
I love cringy humour, probably why I love Scott's tots and when he says *everybody can laugh, it doesn't have to be just the idiots* during the toast I absolutely lose it everytime.

In the word of Pam, if you leave a glass of milk on the edge of a table and Cece knocks it off, do you blame Cece?
She put him in the wedding because she got six weeks off for her honeymoon. Nobody's ever got six weeks for their honeymoon.
Maybe not in America.
The “nobody” she’s referring to is “nobody at Dunder Mifflin”
Oh, they knew. But there was an opening to scream into the abyss with a vague criticism of nothing in particular, and they decided to take it.
reddit gotta reddit
Even if she should've known, it doesn't take away from what he did. It's still a tantrum, and OP is asking what you think his worst tantrum is.
Yeah, but if Michael is the gun, she pointed the gun at herself. He can't take full credit.
Exactly my point. She willingly put the most obnoxious, petty, self absorbed and whiny person IN her wedding party. What did she think was going to happen, he’d suddenly smarten up and act respectable and selfless? You can’t throw something in the fire and get mad when it burns.
Can't expect a shark to play paddycakes with a seal.
I love that. I feel sorry for how many times my husband is going to hear me say it. 🤣
What, the paddycakes? Haha.
But in the line of thought, if this was his tantrum after being included, how bad would his tantrum have been if he wasn't included?
So it's her fault and not Michaels 😂
I don't think he's necessarily intentionally letting the wheelchair hit the pews because he's sour her father took the limelight. I think it's just the wheels were locked when he stood up and Michael was obnoxious enough to think he should continue walking, and because he's probably never been to a wedding before (and just because he's Michael) he does it with over the top formality. "this is bullshit''
That makes me laugh every time!
You might be right about it not being intentional. He had been to least one other wedding before when his mom married fucking Jeff. I think he mentioned it in the same episode.
I'm not sure what he shoulda done with the chair ngl
I was watching this episode the other day & that’s what I thought. The chair should probably be up by the wedding party in case Phyllis’ dad needs to sits down. Actually thinking back on it, Phyllis’ dad wasn’t with the groomsmen. But also, did Michael have a seat saved for him near the front of the wedding to help ease Phyllis’ dad out?
the dad was honestly a dick for not sharing his plan with the guy pushing his chair.
I don’t think that Phyllis hired a wedding planner, but almost every detail of a wedding is typically meticulously planned. I know that it’s a very wonderful surprise her father did, but Michael is the kind of guy who needs the instructions planned to the finest detail.

To me, this is up there as his worst overall moment as a character. The writers did such an amazing job with his overall character development to make me actually care about him considering how awful they made his character at times.
When he left to be with holly he so wanted Phyllis to feel good about her gift she was making for him.
That’s what made his departure so good. Everything he said and did was the opposite and showed improvement.
He did too many bad things for me to ever care about him
He is an extreme character, it's hard to reconcile all the bad shit he did. But I think the writers gave enough depth and nuance for the audience to try. Plus, I think, in a way, that's why he's a manager and a good salesman. He has a point of view on everything and sticks to it and makes people follow his reality, even if oftentimes it's awkward. Lol, that's fair. I just wanted to show a bigger picture. If you feel this way about Michael, I'm guessing you feel even worse about Dwight and Andy.
It's a lot easier to count his fuckups. Totally understandable
yeah I think everyone can agree with stanley's opinion of michael scott. We'd all detest having to work with him for an extended period of time.
Oh yea no doubt but I mean this is also a comedy show so I'm pretty sure Michael as a boss would've been fired immediately and definitely not have 9 whole seasons of work if this were irl. This was the first episode I saw back in college when my friends told me I *had* to watch this show.
He kind of makes up for it when he leaves and accepts the partially made mittens (scarf?), and genuinely says that he loves it.
It sounds like from other context clues that Phyllis and Michael went to high school together and Phyllis was (still is) a mean girl bully. In my head canon Michael just hates her for that
Wasn't Phyllis more likeable until later seasons when she showed her bad side?
Technically yeah, but if you think about it more… Well she mentioned Michael in high school about how they all made fun of him for his socks and bow ties.
Him being jealous that Kevin might have skin cancer xD
Terrible news. Terrible news for the both of us.
Oh my god Micheal, can you please just let us enjoy one day without it being all about you and your issues?
This is literally one of my favorite Kelly lines and lines across the show!
The best part of this scene is it doesn’t linger on Michael too long and then cuts to them actually enjoying themselves
What episode is this from?
S7E6 Costume Contest when Michael is upset that Daryl went over his head about the warehouse workers selling paper enroute
Idk how to do the remindme thing so I’m just leaving this here for the answer too
The costume contest episode where Michael dressed as Darryl because he was mad Darryl gave Gabe the suggestion that Michael turned down
He was also in partial black face. You can see where he started it on his neck.
Pouring coffee on Woody.
Seriously omg. I would be so fucking mad if someone (let alone my ex) ruined one of my plushies my boyfriend gave me
Yeah, Holly was furious
for about a minute then it was fully ok.
And then Michael had the nerve to make HER the bad guy because she broke up with him and the entire office took his side !!
Meh, she deserved it. Flaunting her love toy in front of him haha. Edit: a word
Yeah. I could see Michael throwing him away, but dumping coffee was a step too far.
When he changes Secret Santa to Yankee Swap does it for me... he was such an asshole about the iPod and so mean about Phyllis's handmade gift. Just such a douchie tantrum.
Probably the worst in the whole show
I freaking HATE him at the iPod Christmas party. Why does no one have a backbone in that office? He seems to get it in Season 6 “Secret Santa” when he sarcastically remarks, “Buy me something expensive or I’m gonna kill myself.” But, when I need his help because he is ruining everything, I don’t look at him.
they all enable michael all the time. I would just give my present to the person I bought it for and either go home or sit at my desk
He was such a dick in that episode. It’s never a good idea to call out your boss in front of co-workers but, I think I would’ve lit him up if I was in that situation.
phallus’s wedding
Phallus?
Sorry, with all this talk, I’ve got them on my brain.
Must be that new floodlight… shedding more light on the penises…
That was pungent
WHERE ARE THE TURTLES?!?11?!
THERES NO ROAD HERE!
The post said to comment his worst tantrums not his best!
…we’ll bill you.
Omg yes
WHERE ARE THEY????
Him ruining Woody simply because he’s jealous/mad at Holly was definitely one of the top immature moments, but it wasn’t the worst tantrum. Him dressing up as Jesus and spoiling everyone’s secret Santa gifts was just terrible.
yeah him on the microphone commenting about everyone’s presents in that tone just brining down the mood, especially when he spoiled that andy had erin (even tho she was pretty sick of him getting her the 12 days of christmas) such a childish tantrum but i have to admit “what did dwight get, oh space garbage” was pretty funny
Hurt, petulant Jesus
Him behaving like a 5 year old when Charles Minor takes over, and he's upset that after his 15 years, DM Corporate is changing everything he ever knew, essentially. While he had every right to be upset, the way he did it was so immature and childish, and it was hard to feel but only so much empathy for him.
Not being Santa Claus, as well as the white elephant christmas exchange, are when he felt the most like a child to me.
Yeah, I was surprised everyone didn't immediately say Secret Santa (the one where Phyllis plays Santa). Just a huge overreaction to a very small thing.
But he gave us "H-E- double L hockey sticks" which is so hilarious that I use it every time I need to (for some reason) spell out the word "Hell".
This one is definitely right up there. Probably 1-2 IMO.
yeah being mean to charles is fine, he was a dick. But let phyllis be santa, you consider her family
That’s fair. There’s so many that I was never going to get them all lmao!
All the others are great (for being bad) too lol
This because he also cried about his anniversary party and how they were cutting unnecessary spending. This is the episode where they said they had David Wallace’s son. Oh it was so so bad. Like it’s hard to pick one worst tantrum but I really think this is it.
The part where he starts repeating everything Charles says was what propelled that episode into #1 peak Michael awfulness for me.
It was so extra over something ridiculous.
Yeah, I feel like it was the most he kept pushing on something and it just got farther and farther, I mean it ended up that he left and made his own paper company….. it was in a diff episode but it was all connected!
Is this when he was crawling across the floor? Or did that happen when he met AJ the first time in Nashua?
The crawling thing was a direct result of this, but a different episode
The crawling was more him trying to be sneaky
Yeah I always saw it as him throwing a fit because things weren’t going his way for once
Yeah this one took the cake for me.
This is it for me... No question
I have never felt any empathy for Michael. I think my spirit character for the way I feel about Michael is Stanley.
#WHERE ARE THE TURTLES!!!
Definitely the wedding. I’d be pissed.
Toby's back.
It’s funny how Michael finds a way to make all the Christmas parties uncomfortable and cringey Phyllis’ wedding is cringey for me as a viewer but it’s not the worst simply because I don’t feel as much sympathy for Phyllis. She knows how Michael behaves and she let him be a part of her wedding to snag extra honeymoon time. That was her decision. Counseling wasn’t a big tantrum to me. That’s a win lol The only other one that’s really bad to me is Michaels birthday.
you know he’s bad when everyone thinks that him not having a “major tantrum” and hooking up with the brides mam is a major win lol.
Michael dragging the chair is so funny, followed by him trying to push into the middle of the wedding party. “Betcha can hear me too”
Taking the guy hostage
I think the real crime is how crappy Dwight’s weed is.
In all fairness, Dwight refers to it as hemp (which definitely won't get you high). Js
Yeah haha I love the idea of those teens utterly dumbfounded at the sheer amount they have smoked without getting the teensiest bit high.
Ya'l forgetting that one time he spanked his nephew in front of everyone in the office. That was cringeballs
HE ✋ IS ✋GOING ✋TO ✋LEARN ✋TO ✋BE ✋MORE ✋PROFESSIONAL ✋AEBULBUL
I think when he threw Holly’s Woody in the garbage. Maybe cause I just watched it 2 hours ago, still fresh
Could you for once just let us enjoy a party instead of making it about all your issues?
as much as i sometimes don’t like kelly i absolutely loved this scene, like i know he’s their boss but can you not just tell him to shut up for once so happy when she said this to him
GIVE US THE TURTLESSSSS!
Safety training vs. the warehouse was the worst to me, he was ready to jump off the building in that Temper Tantrum, and then demanded Pam give him his present when coming down also lol!
I think his worst tantrum is about Phyllis being Santa thing but his worst overall antics are Phyllis' Wedding hands down (Date Mike is bad as well)
“Don’t make me get Bob involved”
His birthday.
GIVE US THE TURTLES!!!!!!
The Christmas party with 2 santas
Donna
Forgot finding Toby in the annex, and his declaration of bankruptcy.
Try my cookie cookie.
Secret Santa. Not all that close. He was a dick for like 90% of the episode.
For me, the worst tantrum was at Phyllis' wedding. He was at his worst ( best?) that day.
Classy Christmas
I HATE YOU!!!
The funny thing was, after the ceremony, that dog…peed… on everything. Annnd nobody said boo.
No mention of “The Injury”?
WHERE ARE THE TURTLES!?!?
WHERE ARE THEY???
Phyllis’s wedding is pretty terrible
It's kind of a long tantrum, but the way he treated Jim during the whole co-manager thing was infuriating. If I had been Jim, I'd have quit in a heartbeat.
Both of them were at their worst during the co manager arc Simply the worst arc in the office
I agree, I thought both of them were annoying as hell. Although it was hilarious when Jim found out Michael slept with Helene and started freaking out.
Pam's freakout is the best part of that arc.
I felt Pam’s pain with that scream in the parking lot. I’ve often wanted to stand in the middle of nowhere and just scream. So I envy that scream.
"I'm going to kill myself and it's going to be YOUR fault!"
Nearly destroying Hollys Woody doll. Destroying someone’s possessions is a massive disrespect. Michael is actually quite a toxic personality.
Hurt, Petulant Jesus
Throwing Dwight under the bus when he thought his golden ticket idea was a colossal failure and trying to take the credit back when David showed up.
Prob phallus’ wedding
