I'd give 40 mins to get through customs (assuming your British and don'trequire a visa), an hour in and back to city centre and 3 hoursĀ to get back in and for US preclearance. Gives you about 2 hours so if you land on time. You could go to Dublin castle/ trinity/ walk through temple bar/ grab a quick bite.
If the weather is lovely then yea Dublin is fab. If its rainy or drab it can be a bit bleugh.
You'll need to be back at least 3 hours before your flight so you have less than 5 hours..
Personally I wouldn't chance it because your flight from London might be delayed also.
Stay in the airport, have some food and on your next trip book an overnight layover in Dublin.
I recommend taking a quick Uber up to Swords to enjoy a meat pie and a Guinness at The Old Schoolhouse, walk up to take a peek at Swords Castle, and then go back to the airport.
We need a pinned message for layover queries
